21 Sep 2020 21:51:03
Charlton saying a mill will get the boy doughty surely we can do that.

1.) 22 Sep 2020 08:31:56
As usual PL is haggling and low-balling - all the while the lad could have been playing in the position we need the most. Typical!

2.) 22 Sep 2020 09:56:04
Well if that's true then why are we waiting is crazy. We need another player for the left side. Sign the lad and get him in.

3.) 22 Sep 2020 10:51:51
ED007 names banded about for LWB are plenty surely we have someone in the youth set up that could step cause why have a youth set up if not going use them. We have spent 6m trying to cover that position surely someone at the club is ready?

4.) 22 Sep 2020 12:09:22
Bowyer out saying a million won't get him.

5.) 22 Sep 2020 12:12:08
1.1 plus benyu.

6.) 22 Sep 2020 12:16:51
1.1M plus Taylor lol.

18 Sep 2020 11:18:20
Supposed to be interested in lb from genk.

1.) 18 Sep 2020 12:09:53
Hopefully we get someone in soon. Love the 352 system but we are struggling big time on the left. Taylor just doesn't seem able to beat a man and get the cross in at the min.

2.) 18 Sep 2020 21:03:22
A think Taylor’s done no bad recently tbh.

17 Sep 2020 17:17:03
Rumour Ben Davies signing a pre contract.

1.) 18 Sep 2020 00:26:47
Mally that would be superb BUT I would want him now
Yes to a LB or LWB to challenge GT but I still think we need a solid no nonsense CB.

2.) 18 Sep 2020 06:52:13
Mally - Lubo ;
Is it not the case that teams who have players that have signed “ pre contracts” more often than not sell them before hand to at least get some £££ - also they really don’t want a player that does not want to be there?

3.) 18 Sep 2020 10:44:21
Probably depends how important he is to the team peterBoy and where the team are in the table. If they're comfortably mid-table they might be willing to do a deal.

4.) 18 Sep 2020 12:11:47
Lubo is Duffy not a no nonsense CB?

5.) 18 Sep 2020 14:02:00
Yes but I'd like 2 x no nonsense and a ball player.

6.) 18 Sep 2020 17:41:01
Agree with you Lubo and if we were to sell Ajer in this or the January window we could end up short at the back (could argue Bitton could fill in) but I'd rather players were played in their best positions. Davies would be a good addition but we need a 1st team ready LWB now. I've just seen the Europa draws, Sevco/ Sheep/ the other lot from North Lanarkshire are unlikely to get through the next round or the one that follows it.

7.) 19 Sep 2020 00:23:07
If Ajer leaves that’s fine, I don’t want players here that want out. If he leaves though, we have to replace him with quality, Bitton is a good player but we still need another defender in and we should always be looking to improve with every signing.

15 Sep 2020 14:26:36
We're going back in with an improved offer with add one for doughty.

1.) 15 Sep 2020 14:58:31
We certainly draw these things out; it's like two auld codgers playing penny brag (and I should know) . This position should have been urgently addressed the minute Bolingoli went AWOL and here we are five games later and still fannying about.

2.) 15 Sep 2020 15:21:32
I'm a left-footer but don't play with my left foot so why does it matter that we can't have a right-footer who doesn't have to be a left-footer playing on the left? Tom Boyd was a right-footer and played on the left at times and didn't do too badly. I'm sure there are plenty of right-footers who can be played on the left who would do a helluva lot better than many left-footers who ply their trade on the left. Look at KT, he was a left-footer who played with his left-foot on the right at times and did better than some right-footers. I rest my case.

3.) 15 Sep 2020 15:30:42
Boyd and players like him are rare to find.

4.) 15 Sep 2020 16:15:43
Definitely give more balance.

5.) 15 Sep 2020 19:46:51
I don't think being left footed is the determining factor but it's a factor

It means you can deliver width and counter opponents trying to go outside.

Ideally we want someone who is

2 footed
Stronger on left foot
Strong and agile
Good at crossing
Good at tackling
Good at interplay with left midfielders
Can come inside with ease
Can dominate
Preferably tall (ish)
Track record in 20 plus assists a season
Ability to score around 5 to 6 per season ( with both feet and the head)
Good at delivering setpieces in terms of delivery
Got at defending set pieces
Can play LB LM or LWB. ideally also LW
Good international experience
Good under pressure

And not wanting a decent wage

How hard can it be?

Oh, and can illustrate a liking of Celtic or a hatred of sevco.

Get the finger out mr hammond, we are patiently waiting.

14 Sep 2020 14:57:52
Supposed to have had a 650 grand bid for doughty rejected. if we want the boy stop messing about jyst go and get him. he would provide competition for moi.

{Ed007's Note - I think Doughty's being targeted to play at LWB.}

1.) 14 Sep 2020 15:14:01
Hopefully don't know much about the boy ed but he seems highly rated by bowyer.

{Ed007's Note - Doughty can play anywhere on the left, in CM and he has also played on the RW.}

2.) 14 Sep 2020 15:59:11
Will this lad come straight in the team? Seem like a young lad, maybe one of these projects we seem to love buying! Would like to see an experienced left sided player coming in to be honest.

{Ed007's Note - He'd go straight into the first team squad.}

3.) 14 Sep 2020 16:27:01
U seen any of him ED? Is he any god? Bit underwhelming for me. would liked a more seasoned player in that position if lennon wants to go ahead with the 352.u think we’ll bid again or pick him up on a pre contract?

{Ed007's Note - I've not seen much of him but Doughty is very highly rated and Fulham have been long term admirers along with West Ham. WBA, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Aston Villa who have all scouted him and there's also a raft of interest from Championship teams since Charlton got relegated.
If Lawwell plans on playing hardball to wait and offer him a precontract then we may lose out - there's no way we are the only Club negotiating with Charlton.}

4.) 14 Sep 2020 16:29:47
Why if they really want him go in with the winning bid then if he wants too much wages etc then we know celtic did what they could the player no wanting to come we then live with that and we move on.

5.) 14 Sep 2020 17:13:16
So if PL doesn't get his finger out the player going somewhere else would we be better just sticking with the process of a LWB natural or have Forrest or even Frimpong play there?

6.) 14 Sep 2020 17:54:53
Why do we have to play these 'Cairo Market place' games with every player we pursue? Look at the bigger picture Celts! If he is as good as you think and he is young enough to actually improve, then pay the money and look at it as an investment. If we were more assertive and proactive from the off, we could actually have a pretty decent team in place before the CL qualifiers.

7.) 15 Sep 2020 10:30:44
We need to stop pissing around in the transfer window and get someone in to replace forest he has become complacent, he needs competition.

8.) 15 Sep 2020 13:34:56
You have to wonder what the mindset is in our transfer dealings, Alfie Doughty we raise our bids in increments of 100k hoping to get it done. Players like Bayo, Compper, Shved, Morgan, Hendry, Soro etc, its millions out the door and little in return. I know that isn't being fair on Soro just yet but the others we paid good money for and ended up with nothing in return.

The new scouting team seem a bit better than the last, go pay the 1.2m or whatever it will take to get this boy, especially with Bolis wage off the books.

9.) 15 Sep 2020 13:47:22
Is he better than young Luca who can play at the back and CM? If he isn't what the F are we playing at? Plus, Lawell trying to save ten bob will probably eff it up anyway. Give Luca a chance.

10.) 15 Sep 2020 18:57:51
I'd also like to see Luca given a chance. From the little I've seen of him he's tenacious for his size and has some great technical ability.

If not then would be good to get him out on loan in SPL to get some games under his belt. Same applies for young Oxflex, Henderson and Harper.

25 Sep 2020 11:10:59
If we were playing sevco tomorrow who'd be confident of a result. we are not creating chances and are conceding at the back. they are the opposite. you g turnbull must be given a run even if it's at the expense of brown and ntcham needs a boot up the arse. he wants to play and when given the chance he doesn't turn up.

1.) 25 Sep 2020 11:40:09
We have scored more league goals in a game less.

2.) 25 Sep 2020 11:59:37
First time around under Lennon we played a 4-4-2 with Hooper and Stokes up front.
We had a younger Scott Brown and Forrest in midfield with guys like Wanyama, Ledley, Ki, Kayal and Commons.
Surely that is the temporary formation until we get a decent LWB.
On Sunday I would play a 4-4-2.
Frimpong Duffy Ajer Taylor
Christie Ntcham McGregor Elyounoussi
Ajeti Edouard.
That is a solid lineup with Turnbull and Bitton as suitable backup.

3.) 25 Sep 2020 12:01:42
Fair enough but we are conceding and are not playing a settled team they are . would you be confident in beating them right now.

4.) 25 Sep 2020 12:23:21
Wouldn't be overly confident but they will burn out as usual. They will win easily at Motherwell as they tend to do well against teams that attack. That's why they've done well in Europe as well. Dutch football is all about attacking and played into their hands (I'm assuming as never watched it) . Sunday is a huge game for us. We need to be on it. Boyle against taylor is a worry for me.

5.) 25 Sep 2020 14:58:48
No many of us are writing off their chances this year. This isn't a usual season. No fans and no winter break will benefit Sevco this year. I hope they sell Kent soon as for the first time I don't fancy coming up against him.

24 Sep 2020 14:01:32
Griff in squad av heard.

19 Sep 2020 20:52:21
So there you have it 7 games into season and eddy is fatigued that's after nearly 5 months of lockdown feck av heard it all now and this is from the player.

1.) 19 Sep 2020 21:39:54
Personally I don't think he should have travelled to play in the French Under 21 game after being injured as he could aggravate it and then we lose him for weeks. Anyway; It's strange for a player asking not to be considered for a game though and it puts doubt in minds.

2.) 19 Sep 2020 22:06:46
Once the transfer window closes the playing squad can settle down and get on with the job in hand for a few months at least until the January transfer window opens.
Celtic just need to win our next 2 league games before the International break and then the players will hopefully come back a more settled and contented squad of players.

17 Sep 2020 12:59:36
What was wrong with elgamed who I rate he was rank ladt night. hiw many times did he barge his opponent in the back when the boy was going nowhere giving away set pieces at the moment ain't a good idea.

17 Sep 2020 07:23:46
Poor performance last night. we seem to be saying this most weeks we just aren't clicking everything stops in the last third and we seem to run out of ideas. wee Taylor always cuts back in instead of whipping balls in first time which defenders hate we better get our mojo back before the sevvies or we might just come up short.

1.) 17 Sep 2020 08:26:34
Some new players still settling in; but I would like him to stick to a formation that suits and brings out the best in the team.
For example:- the defense has been very shaky, so play a system with the same players and stick with it.
Both fullbacks struggled last night for one reason or another and Taylor was given some awful passes that didn't help, but when both won't or can't hit the bye-line it stifles our whole game.
Up front Ajeti and Eddy seemed to be linking well recently and Ajeti needs games so why not persevere with the partnership? -
There are plenty options and talent to change things from the bench if we need to vary the play or change tactics.
We saw some encouragement in the second halves of Motherwell and Ross County with width and pace creating plenty of chances against packed defenses, but last night we went back to old habits, although I do think there were some under-par performances.
Three points - coming from behind - onward and upward Celts.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 08:27:21
It’s turned out to be a blessing Celtic are scheduled to play Sevco in the last fixture.
It’s been a slow start to the season but we can still go top of the league on Saturday.
There isn’t one Celtic player in the whole squad who has hit the heights of last season yet.
When the team start to go up a few gears, we will be a force again.
Sevco on the other hand are magnificent because all their players are playing tremendous.
By the sound of the hype, they have peaked already this early in the season.
Will they be able to keep up such an amazing high standard for the full season?

3.) 17 Sep 2020 09:03:29
I didn't think we took any players on in the final third just stopped when opposition came close and that stopped the momentum. But happy we won trying my best not to criticise how we played to much or mention a certain individual.

4.) 17 Sep 2020 09:44:03
Buzz, at this moment in time I wouldn't want to be facing the Sevs on Saturday. They are playing well and haven't conceded a goal. We have been paying well one game then pretty poor the next. Our defence is poor and has been exposed on numerous occasions by the so called 'weaker' teams in the league. HH.

5.) 17 Sep 2020 10:41:15
If no one is making runs ahead or beyond him why out the ball in . a midfielder . puts the ball back / sideways and they all do it as often as taylor it gets called keeping the move alive or trying to stretch the opposition etc etc . why is it bad or negative etc when Taylor does it.
