Hearing Rodger's will be signing a new 3 year deal before we are away for the summer break?
It was mentioned earlier in the season. Assume that's being tied up now?
28 Jan 2025 21:48:05
Surely KT will sign in January if Valle is officially back at Barca.
I assume it's all just a front to announce him in the last day of the window.
1.) 29 Jan 2025 09:33:29
Not really, he is on the bench for Arsenal these days, depends on whether they sign another left back or not for cover. They won’t be rushed, £1m or therabouts might tempt a Scottish club to sell instead of losing a player for nothing, but that sort of fee is a drop in the ocean to Arsenal.
2.) 29 Jan 2025 10:49:13
Could be as simple as Arteta is an ex current.
23 Jan 2025 18:05:38
I reckon we will sign the Kvistgarden boy to replace Kyogo.
1.) 23 Jan 2025 18:26:29
Would hope that a replacement is announced before or soon after Kyogo’s departure.
2.) 23 Jan 2025 18:49:09
I think the original plan was Louie Barry but Aston Villa plying hard ball.
12 Jul 2024 18:15:13
€5m for Oh with add ons! Well done Whoever got that deal through ?.
1.) 12 Jul 2024 21:35:45
Get that and bid for miovski. As well as Idah.
2.) 12 Jul 2024 21:51:40
KenLikeEh,
where have you seen this?
☘️ ? ☘️.
3.) 13 Jul 2024 10:39:49
I really like Oh and will be sad to see him go, I will wish him all the best and think he will go on and have good career.
26 Jun 2024 14:13:10
Haksabanovic offski for €3m officially.
Well done to the CEO etc for getting anything for him at all!
1.) 26 Jun 2024 16:02:51
Hopefully this will be the start of getting the players that are not part of Brendan Rodgers plans, it was mentioned on these pages a while ago that there were about 18 players who Celtic could move on, but it is not always a easy thing to do if the player is getting a good wage, without contributing anything as a player to the 1st team squad.
2.) 26 Jun 2024 18:46:50
First of many out the door that’s needed, still a long way to go though there’s about another 10 on the books that could be classed as deadwood.
3.) 27 Jun 2024 16:17:27
I agree the clear-out was very important to reduce the squad, get rid of players who are not in the managers plans and raising extra funds. The real test for the Board will be to bring in better quality than we have and improve the team for Europe and domestic dominance.

If Rodger's was offered the Spurs job would you take Ange back?
I can't see another manager out there at the moment who is available and proven at our level.
1.) 06 Jun 2025 18:22:03
Of course!
2.) 06 Jun 2025 18:26:37
I think the Spurs fans would be spoiled if BR is appointed. But would they be happy to see another Celtic manager come in just after they had appointed the previous one? What does that say about Celtic having two managers being appointed Spurs manager one after the other?
3.) 06 Jun 2025 18:51:49
I wouldn’t complain if Brendan and Ange constantly followed each other with 3 year contracts.
It would give them the option of trying different projects outwith Celtic.
4.) 06 Jun 2025 19:03:57
It speaks volumes of the set - up of any non top 5 league team in France that a team who has had their first European success from a manager whose only experience of managing in Europe was 2 years at Celtic .
Our Board has a big decision to make, most successful managers have about 3 / 4 successful years . BR has had 5 successful yrs out of 7 . Celtic Board has to decide whether they go all in with BR or decide to let him leave whilst at the top . Our continued success may come with Celtic appointing a top manager .
5.) 06 Jun 2025 19:11:34
Would have Ange over Brendan any day of the week.
6.) 06 Jun 2025 19:17:36
BR said he will not leave b4 his contract ends unless he's sacked and we've just finished a successful season and DD won't sack him. a would b happy with Ange back tho.
7.) 06 Jun 2025 20:00:31
Spurs seem keen on the Brentford boss, however BR will leave at some time and I will worry about that when the time comes.
Ange saw Celtic as a stepping stone and BR was also enticed a few years ago to follow the golden brick road. Both know the club very well and have worked under our various restraints and handicaps, so like Buzz mentioned, they could rotate for years to come. If not there's always Neil Lennon!
8.) 06 Jun 2025 22:30:19
How would Ange see Celtic as a stepping stone when he was busy managing half ways around the world and he certainly wouldn’t have been aware how he could use Celtic to fast track to greatness . He certainly didn’t know when contemplating joining us, because if he was starting off with a decent line of career path drawn, he wouldn’t have went to Spurs as most knew it was a poisoned chalice .
9.) 06 Jun 2025 23:02:52
Was the football over the last few months of Ange's reign not a bit stale?
10.) 07 Jun 2025 06:05:36
Ange played exciting football but was hopeless in Europe. We don't qualify out groups last season with Ange. BR is better developing players and has the nonce to change for Europe.
It's a nice debate but as others have said BR will be here next season.
11.) 07 Jun 2025 07:03:35
It's a NO from me.
☘️ ? ☘️.
12.) 07 Jun 2025 11:31:00
He saw Celtic as a stepping stone, because as everyone (except a few) knew he was looking elsewhere as early as Jan/ Feb in his final season to move to the EPL.
26 May 2025 19:35:58
I hope we are all ready for another frustrating transfer window ?. I wouldn't get your hopes up lads. There's been one season where Celtic have been proactive in the last 10.
Is this a direct impact from the 5 way agreement?
Is this the one factor holding Celtic back with the 10s of millions we have in the bank and record profits from player sales year on year?
A deal sanctioned by corrupt individuals at the top of Scottish football ensuring a tainted. dangerous club were saved from the brink of collapse. Reformed under a new name with the same hatred instilled from within.
If the shoe was on the other foot would they save Celtic? I think not.
Tin foil hat stuff I know and having a wee bit of fun with that. However, I never understand why we haven't buried them at this point.
1.) 26 May 2025 22:02:20
Of all of the moonhowling posts I've read on here that has to be up there! So you're saying our board have agreed with Sevco and the powers that be not to sign too many good players to ensure there isn't a huge gap? People forget we have always signed plenty of players it's just 80% of them are gash!
2.) 26 May 2025 22:28:08
It's the pentavarit!
3.) 27 May 2025 09:15:42
I see you’ve found the comedic Value in the post Gerry ?.
Bhoy88 I think you’re taking the post way too seriously. lol.
21 May 2025 12:26:52
Where is all the Engels hate coming from on social media? Am I missing something here. A 20 year old Belgian, moved from Germany to Scotland played 53 games and provided 23 goal contributions and is now 21 years old.
If someone from our youth came in and posted those numbers we'd be ecstatic and wanting £30m for him. Why are people desperate to get rid of the player which in my opinion has the highest potential in the squad?
I've seen this 100 times over. People wanted Ajer out after a few games. Look how good a player he turned out to be.
{Ed007's Note - I have asked numerous people who like to take a pop at Engels what they expected/wanted him to do that he hasn't and none of them can give me an acceptable answer.
There is supporters out there who will never change their mind about Engels & Idah because it means admitting they were wrong.}
1.) 21 May 2025 12:48:20
It’s baffling ED! If any other midfielder posted those numbers from midfield they’d be going crazy for him! I fully expect him to kick on next season wherever he ends up. There’s a reason he’s highly sought after.
{Ed007's Note - If he's still here next season he will be up there for every POTY award.}
2.) 21 May 2025 13:05:13
I don't know what you mean by 23 goal contributions but he has 9 assists.
{Ed007's Note - Arne Engels has scored 10 goals and has 13 assists in all competitions - 23 goal contributions.}
3.) 21 May 2025 13:52:12
Idah has scored 23 goals with not many starts and big goals at that and he gets it tight as well,
4.) 21 May 2025 14:06:57
A great and accurate post Ken ?.
5.) 21 May 2025 15:42:38
He's a good penalty taker ?.
{Ed007's Note - He still needs to score them, I don't see any of our more experienced players like our captain stepping up to take/score them.}
6.) 21 May 2025 15:48:06
Engels numbers are good and I expect him to kick on and have more influence next season.
Personally I don’t think he was influential enough to be branded a £30M player. Maybe come 2026 he will be in that bracket.
Idah with a full pre season under his belt will also kick on. His numbers are excellent for the number of starts he has. In some games his link up play was excellent and added another dynamic to the team. Really feel he will be on another level next season.
7.) 21 May 2025 15:53:30
8 of they 10 goals are from the spot. So that 2 goals from normal play in 51 apps from our record signing. I don't see the hype myself.
{Ed007's Note - What hype, there is no hype surrounding Engels - he's a fantastic young footballer who will only get better and will probably go for a Scottish record fee in a year or two - it's a response to those fans that simply can't see past his price tag. Is that the problem, because he isn't getting the ball and running about like a Messi/Ronaldo crossbreed he's a waste of money? I'll assume you do know he played as a No.6 for most of his career before coming here.
Engels is a midfielder, not a striker, CalMac has scored 25 goals over the past 5 seasons in 240 appearances & this seasons 10 goals only give that stat any respectability at all, he scored 2 goals in 45 apps last season - he must be the worst Celtic captain ever then?
We'll not even start on that waster Schmeichel, that lump of wood has never managed to score one solitary goal and he's nearly at 780 appearances! At least he was on a free though, right?}
8.) 21 May 2025 15:42:38
He's a good penalty taker ?.
9.) 21 May 2025 15:48:06

{Ed007's Note - What hype, there's been no hype around Engels, it's people who can't see past his price tag that are the problem, I think they expected him to come in and be a Messi/Ronaldo crossbreed even though he was a No.6 until he came here. Maybe the hype came from people who seen Engels fee and never bothered to look at what type of player we were signing, a No.6 that Rodgers is trying to mould into a top box-to-box No.8 midfielder.
I'm baffled that you are using a midfielders scoring record as a stick to beat him with, let's look at CalMac, our captain and one of the best Scottish players of his generation scored 2 goals in 45 appearances last season, he's scored 25 over the past 5 seasons in 240 apps and 10 of those were this season, a season where Engels being in the team allowed McGregor to push forward more - in the previous 4 seasons before this one, CalMac played in 188 games and scored 15 goals. Obviously you've never rated CalMac with a scoring record like that.
And don't get me started on that waster Schmeichel, in nearly 780 career appearances that lump of wood hasn't managed to score one solitary goal.
And I don't see any of our more experienced players or our captain stepping up to take the responsibility of hitting penalties, since when did we start slagging off players for scoring penalties?
What did you expect from Engels, what did you want him to do that he hasn't done?}
11.) 21 May 2025 18:09:50
For his fee and the fact he's our record signing I'd expect him to be running the show and being a stand out most games. He's been posted missing in the derbies this season. For the price tag the Jury's still out that's all I'm saying. Of course his transfer fee will come with huge expectation.
{Ed007's Note - Take it up with Rodgers then, it's him that plays CalMac in the "running the show" role. Apart from his short passing game which can be a bit erratic at times Engels stats for the season show he has had an excellent season.
So who wasn't posted missing in most of this seasons derbies, will we rake over the coals of those games and who went missing in them?
Maybe some people need to lower their expectations, especially if they're huge, and not get hung up on fees, we've wasted over £10 million on CBs and Engels goals and performances helped make us millions in the CL and on the verge of another domestic treble - if we sold him this summer we'd get £20m minimum.}
12.) 21 May 2025 18:15:32
Ed, there are some who just live to moan.
No matter how good things are they still pick holes.
Engels has come into a far more physical league than he was used to, yet his numbers are still good.
I agree, next season he will come into his own.
You can see his vision, his technique and at 21, he will only get better and stronger in next couple of seasons.
He has a very difficult role, supporting our defence and our offensive players, tying them together, a role he is still coming to terms with.
As for the comment about being a good penalty taker, who else has done better than him, or volunteered ahead of him.
Just remember what was said about Yang, Kuhn, Bernardo, all were criticised but have shown great improvement and none of them were at Engels level when they came in.
{Ed007's Note - ????I'm already dreading it if we sign Lennon Miller this summer and the lad misplaces a pass.}
13.) 21 May 2025 18:57:29
If we get offered £20m for Engels this summer we should take it?.
{Ed007's Note - Thankfully the Club wouldn't.}
14.) 21 May 2025 20:22:48
The club know what they have. Engels is a real talent and will make all these doubters eat there words. I bet he’ll post 15 goals and assists next season!
Weirdly a lot of the folks that think Kyogo is a club Legend are the folk that think Engels is pish lol
Says a lot!
{Ed007's Note - Kyogo was best since Larsson though ??
15.) 21 May 2025 20:44:14
Those who are ridiculing both Engels and Idah are of the same mindset as our Board had for 10 yrs up until a couple of years ago .
These fans feel that £5 - £6 m was good enough for M o’Neil to spend over 20 yrs ago and they don’t trust BR to spend more in the mid 2020’s.
Both Idah and Engels came to Scotland, certainly not to earn big money but to be coach and learn the game from a manager who has a very good reputation at developing young players .
Both Engels and Idah have written about not been happy with the over the top criticism they have received. Our plans to have a successful season next season will be made an awful lot harder to achieve if these two insist on moving on to where they will be more appreciated by their fans.
16.) 21 May 2025 21:03:07
Engles played 53 games
Scored 10 with 13 assists
Passing 84.7%
Chances created 53
He will develop under Brendan hopefully we get another 2 or 3 years from him as he will be attracting attention from abroad.
He will earn us millions but folk want more from the lad?.
{Ed007's Note -
17.) 21 May 2025 23:13:55
Stats say it all ED.
17 May 2025 17:26:43
The amount of negativity that is spewed out by our fan base continues to baffle me. We've just lifted the league trophy again, and the only thing a large portion of our fans care about is slagging players and referees.
Why not smile and celebrate another successful season for once instead of picking apart every single little problem.
After all we could be St Johnstone!
1.) 17 May 2025 18:52:13
We could be even worse than St Johnstone, they could have been the new club who thought they had David Ancellotti as thei new manager .
It appears they had no chance, as he said no big club had showed interest in him .
14 May 2025 22:00:17
That McArdle boy looks a right player.
09 Jun 2025 19:30:31
DRB.
The Premier League 2 is a much higher level than the level Celtic B have been playing at, could be a shrewd bit of business by Celtic. 10 goals in 17 games for Osmand. Only beaten by Emre Tezgel and Donnelly McNeilly who’s stock continues to rise.
Cummings wanted to leave, Osmand wants to come and sign for the Celtic. I know the player id rather have.
07 Jun 2025 11:41:28
Ajer was as much of a “bomb scare” as Starfelt was at CB. When you look at it, maybe Starfelt was the player making CCV look so good!
Starfelt was an awesome player. We really do miss him. Not the best we’ve had but still great.
30 May 2025 16:08:37
It’s funny a large portion of the support blame the youth player for leaving most of the time.
It’s the fault of the board and there lack of structure and almost amateur structure the club pertains. We continue to live in the past with footballing structure and that continues to be a detriment to our ability to retain and compete with the “big clubs”.
20 Apr 2025 00:11:21
Taylor is a quality player. If he improved defensively he’d be top class.
05 Feb 2025 18:37:27
Still wondering why McGregors getting a game the now. Absolutely pants. Id like to see us change it up in the midfield.
13 Jun 2025 21:54:23
I’ve tried to pin point why exactly I support Celtic, I can’t remember where my choice came from. But comes down to a few points I believe.
I remember at school, all of the other kids that supported Rangers tended to be horrible people. Arrogant and Ignorant always. A lot of bullies supported them. Very rarely were any of them sound folk.
The Celtic fans tended to be nicer people and less arrogant. Just decent folk that weren’t getting in trouble etc. I’m not sure if that had something to do with the catholic influence from there families.
I never grew up religious. My Dad is an atheist and I would say he is anti religious but again, he always said he was a Celtic fan. That seemed strange considering Celtic’s ties to the catholic religion. My grandad was a Hearts fan, My brother and sister then followed Hearts because of him.
To this day I still follow Celtic, I don’t practice any religion and consider myself agnostic. However, I do know I’m supporting the good guys and that gives me all the faith I feel that I need!
13 Jun 2025 21:33:03
I thought Yang had a cracking season for us. Developed, came in when he was needed, chipped in with 6 goals and 6 assists. What more can you ask for from your second choice winger who only really seen the last 30 minutes of a game?
27 May 2025 09:15:42
I see you’ve found the comedic Value in the post Gerry ?.
Bhoy88 I think you’re taking the post way too seriously. lol.
26 May 2025 19:49:09
I think we need to reduce McGregors playing time.
And drop him when he’s playing pish.
Gone missing far too much the past couple of seasons but for some reason he is protected from scrutiny from the fan base. Whereas guys like Engels/ Taylor/ Idah get battered but offered so much more over the season. I don’t blame him directly as it’s clearly due to the numbers of games he plays.
He was Propped up by his goals earlier in the season I can only remember a handful of games where he performed well.
21 May 2025 23:13:55
Stats say it all ED.
