I think our corners this season have been better than previous seasons but there's still not a big enough threat.
I done quick calculations of the goals coming from our recent Centre Backs.
Nawrocki hasn't scored and I don't think Nat Philips or Kobayashi scored either.
Ajer, Trusty, CCV, Starfelt have only scored between 3% to 4.5% between them which is poor.
Welsh is about 6% and Scales 7% of games.
Duffy was a big threat but he was only on loan.
Lagerbielke has 10% but has scored one goal in only 10 games for Celtic.
I actually thought we might need to go back to Boyata to find a Celtic CB with a decent record but then I noticed Jullien had a 16% scoring record for Celtic.
It's those types of scoring figures Celtic have been lacking in these last 5 seasons.
Celtic also need a free kick specialist because we haven't scored direct from a free kick in the league for over 4 years and that's shocking.
I remember Turnbull scoring an in-direct free kick against St. Johnstone to make it 4-1 in injury time a few seasons ago.
Also Jota against Real Madrid in the CL.
I can't remember any more since Turnbull scored in lockdown against Hibs direct from a free kick, when we had about 15 players banned.
Celtic score loads of goals from open play but we definitely lack goals from set pieces.
It's a long overdue area we need to improve on next season.
1.) 09 Apr 2025 08:37:09
When was the last time we scored direct from a freekick.
2.) 10 Apr 2025 19:59:31
4 yrs ago, Mallythetally2 . In fairness certain teams should practice taking free kicks outside the area, as the slightest touch and a dive wins a free kick in an optimum position .
We don’t do too badly at corners as we lack the height of most teams . Usually we have only 2 big strong players and if they attempt to use their weight, ref will penalise him . If Idah happens to play then we have 3 men with a bit of height giving penalty taker some options . We have to be smart with our corners them up them mix up near post, back post and short corners.

Nothing has been confirmed yet but it's looking like Kasper has received the worst injury in his 20 year career.
Schmeichel missed the last 6 weeks of the 2018 season with an ankle injury.
That's been his longest absence according to Flashscore, since he first started playing in the 2005/ 06 season.
{Ed007's Note - I seen he might be out until September at least.}
1.) 25 Mar 2025 15:04:44
ED007 and Buzz looks like the young Czech goalkeeper will be getting plenty of game time, despite Brendan not giving him game time in cup games.
Also I heard Maeda had a bruised leg but still wanted to play for Japan today
We could have a few walking wounded returning to Celtic Park this week.
2.) 25 Mar 2025 18:19:23
The Bayer Leverkusen keeper is keeping Sinisalo out of the Finland team.
He stayed on the bench in their 2 games over the last week.
Sinisalo has been unlucky to be 2nd choice to a couple of great Goalkeepers and he will finally get his chance.
Sinisalo has only played against Raith Rovers this season due to Celtic being drawn against Premiership clubs in the cup competitions.
3.) 26 Mar 2025 19:33:40
I am sure BR target a domestic treble at the start of the season. With our super domestic success for the last 10 yrs or so, anything less than a treble is almost regarded as some Celtic fans as a failure . So BR hadn’t much option but to play his first choice ‘keeper with the lead we have in SPL Sinisalo our reserve
goalkeeper will be under less pressure playing SPL games . He played a full season for Exeter, so he has decent experience.
I would be worried with Schmeichel if he is out for about 6 mths at his age his career at the top could be over.
I wouldn’t really worry about Maeda as he often limps off when playing for Celtic and returns 3/ 4 days later and run his opponents into the ground .
H. ns players lined up the other Sunday to kick, elbow and hit him with anything they could and although he was limping he still gave them a run around.

An article has mentioned that Celtic will cash in on CCV and Khun this summer.
Both players are contracted until 2029 with CCV signing a 5.5 year extension only 14 months ago.
It also mentioned that Khun wanted to leave in the January transfer window and he will get his wish at the end of this season.
I'm not sure if the article is accurate because it also mentioned a possible Kris Ajer return.
Ajer signed a contract extension with Brentford which has 4 years left.
Ajer would be out of our price range and it makes me doubt the article.
1.) 20 Mar 2025 16:56:17
Would u want ajer back, good with ball no the best at defending.
2.) 20 Mar 2025 18:09:08
Maybe the holding mid we are needing?
3.) 20 Mar 2025 21:57:44
Was he not one of the ones who downed tools in the failed 10Iar?
4.) 21 Mar 2025 15:44:20
Ajwr still can't defend, he has to grab onto a opposition players arms, when defending free kicks or corners, but that is allowed in English Football for some reason, you don't see penalty kicks being awarded for all the pushing and holding that goes on.
5.) 21 Mar 2025 22:10:55
Id take ajer back in a heartbeat but for a DM role. That was his natural position before he joined us.
I can't see the move happening as we would need to smash our record.
6.) 21 Mar 2025 23:07:59
Correct 9iar.
☘️ ? ☘️.
7.) 25 Mar 2025 13:30:19
Never though Ajer was ever a centre back although he did have a few good games at right back. I always wanted to see him in midfield because he is very comfortable on the ball, is mobile and strong.

Celtic have decided to play the long game with our next striker.
I think it's been a knock on effect from the shocking substitutions made against Aston Villa, when we desperately needed a goal to give us a better draw in the CL playoffs.
The Celtic Board know we have no chance against Bayern due to the open formation we play and the gulf between both squads.
I believe Celtic would've brought a striker in this window if the draw had been kinder.
Our Board also know that the latest Ibrox club have accepted being 2nd best and this transfer window proved that fact.
I don't mind waiting for the right man in the summer.
We need big Idah to do a Giakoumakis who crucially banged the goals in when Kyogo was injured for 4 months in the 2021/ 22 season.
We might get away with it but Brendan will be fearing the days will be back soon, when we were forced to play wingers Mikey Johnstone and Lewis Morgan through the middle, when he was previously here.
1.) 04 Feb 2025 15:32:27
I tend to agree, with Idah, Maeda, Jota and Kuhn we have more than enough to blitz everyone domestically. Appreciate we may have some injuries at points but Kenny deserves a chance, and hopefully Forrest is back fit soon - would love to see him play a part this season and collect the medals that will see him top the list.
End of the day, we could have signed Haaland yesterday and still been thumped by Bayern, so why bother. I've no doubt we're looking at some targets, Kvistgarden/ Streller, possibly it is them - no team wants to lose thier best player in January, they'll be much easier to deal with in the summer.
2.) 04 Feb 2025 16:25:15
The reason to bother is that we should be looking beyond the BM game and having people up to speed for the qualifiers. The old adage still stands, if we prepare for Europe, the domestic stuff is already taken care of.
{Ed007's Note - ????
3.) 04 Feb 2025 16:26:38
Time to put some trust in Kenny and Murray we've no other option as if idah not available we fall back on maeda and if ccv ain't available instead of playing 2 leftys which doesn't work imo it's Murray.
28 Jan 2025 22:37:36
It's a shame to see Valle leave and thanks for your time at Celtic.
He probably gave Taylor his biggest challenge from a handful of other left backs over the years.
I'm sure and hope he will have a successful career in the future. ?.
1.) 29 Jan 2025 00:18:40
Rightly said Buzz. Has all the tools to go right to the top.
Id have preferred him staying over Tierney.
2.) 29 Jan 2025 11:31:00
Thought we had him for a season long loan, and didn't think he deserves to be ditched - unless the player wants the move?
3.) 29 Jan 2025 15:35:05
I liked what saw of Valle, he could have a very good career infront of him.

Celtic practically won the title at Ibrox in April 1981 after Nicholas scored the only goal of the match on 56 minutes.
That Victory put Celtic 6 points clear
( 2pts a win )
With only 3 games to go and Celtic also having a better goal difference of 11 goals more than 2nd place Aberdeen.
( Celtic had scored 18 more goals to really 12 goal difference better off )
The slight chance of making it Official at Ibrox ended when Aberdeen were leading Airdrie 2-0 at Halftime in a 3-0 home victory for the Dons.
Celtic however did make it Official a few days later, with a brilliant 3-2 victory at Tannadice.
A similar scoreline tomorrow would be great.
1.) 25 Apr 2025 11:36:47
I remember my first Old Firm game against the Old Rangers. It was at Ibrox in the early 80s and Charlie Nicholas was still playing as he scored that day.
I was in the Rangers end with my dad and his pal, as we could not get tickets for the Celtic end and my dad's other pal gave us tickets for the Rangers end. I remember Nicholas scoring and me cheering and my dad and his pal going "oh feck".
I am not sure if it was this game or not. Was this the only time Nicholas scored at Ibrox. I know we won that day but don't recall the actual score.
2.) 25 Apr 2025 15:43:45
Weejoe,
That goal in 1981 was his first goal at Ibrox.
Nicholas scored a double against Rangers in the previous league match a couple of months earlier at Celtic Park, for his first ever “Old Firm” goals.
Nicholas scored a World class winner at Ibrox on New Years Day 1983 in our 2-1 victory.
His last match for Celtic in his first spell was at Ibrox on the last game of the season in 1983.
Celtic were losing 2-0 at Halftime but came back to win 4-2 with Nicholas scoring a double.
It wasn’t enough to stop Dundee Utd winning their only top flight title that day.
That was also Billy McNeill’s last match as manager first time around.
He joined Man City as their new manager.
3.) 25 Apr 2025 16:39:51
Cheers buzz, I think it may have been the 1983 one as I have a recollection that there were multiple goals and I think I was 8 or 9 at the time. ?.
22 Apr 2025 13:20:34
Celtic have only ever lost Once on this date in our History.
We lost in the last league match 3-0 away to Dundee in 1933.
The previous week Celtic beat Motherwell 1-0 in the Scottish Cup Final with Jimmy McGrory scoring the only goal.
The Scottish Cup ran for 16 years before Celtic first entered the competition.
In the early years Queens Park won the Scottish Cup 10 times.
Celtic were the first club to reach 11 Scottish Cup Final victories in 1925.
Rangers overtook Celtic for only One year in 1966 after defeating us in extra time.
Celtic won the Scottish cup again the following year before opening up another gap.
Rangers never overtook our Scottish Cup total again before being Liquidated.
1.) 22 Apr 2025 14:30:55
Exactly buzz.
They can't overtake any of our records now but we will overtake the records we didn't hold in the near future.
We have already overtook the number of leagues won (it is a formality) and number of trophies won. Think all they have e left is most league cups, which is in our sights.
2.) 22 Apr 2025 15:07:28
Weejoe,
Celtic 55 Rangers 54 this Saturday ?
Sevco have loads of catching up to do.
3.) 22 Apr 2025 15:39:37
Sevco 1.
4.) 22 Apr 2025 16:19:31
Fifty three and a half Buzz.
5.) 22 Apr 2025 18:47:40
I was actually going to write that PTFP because I was thinking it ?.
6.) 22 Apr 2025 19:37:36
Great minds and all that.
7.) 22 Apr 2025 21:40:22
Is the half the 1 they shared with Dumbarton even tho Dumbarton had a better goal difference which a think didn’t count in them days?♂️.
22 Apr 2025 12:53:40
Don Robertson will be our referee this Saturday lunchtime.
Greg Aitken will once again be doing VAR.
( 4th time in our last 7 league games )
1.) 23 Apr 2025 17:19:51
Have some VAR officials other than Muir stepped down or stood down, as it seems we have the same small group of VAR officials in charge of all our games, it certainly not because of the exceptional high quality of their work.

Sad news that the Pope has sadly passed away.
I noticed the Italian games today have been postponed.
1.) 21 Apr 2025 13:18:50
Very sad, he seemed to be recoved From his illness . This Pope tried to make a difference.
2.) 21 Apr 2025 20:03:28
Jesus is king.
20 Apr 2025 16:54:23
A Brilliant performance Celtic ?.
1.) 20 Apr 2025 17:03:47
Great team performance. Only downside was I bet 6-0.☹️.
2.) 20 Apr 2025 17:35:40
Outstanding performance.
3.) 20 Apr 2025 18:21:47
I'm going to contradict myself. But here's to a Treble but we will keep our feet on the ground.
25 Apr 2025 17:49:59
I only mentioned him because Johnston could also have a “wee word in his lug”.
22 Apr 2025 15:03:42
The same with another Canadian striker 25 year old Jonathon David.
His Lille contract expires at the end of this season.
According to Salary Sport his wages were £36K a week with the French club.
20 Apr 2025 17:48:36
I pressed the button by accident.
Baby Dallas didn’t help with Zero added time although there was 2 Var decisions and multiple substitutions.
20 Apr 2025 17:46:28
Usual ?♂️.
20 Apr 2025 14:54:39
* at least 3 Celtic goals.

In the 1990s,
Celtic only finished 2nd in the league Twice during Rangers 9 in a row era.
It happened in the last 2 seasons when Celtic played in our new stadium.
It was then 3rd time lucky when Celtic stopped the 10.
Rangers and Sevco combined actually finished 2nd on three occasions during our latest 9 in a row.
Rangers in our 1st title and then Sevco when we won our 8th and 9th title in a row.
I agree there’s not much competition in Scotland for Celtic but it was the same in the 1990s for Rangers.
The difference being is - Rangers bottled the chance to win a 1st ever Scottish Double Treble when they dominated Scottish Football.
Celtic deserve huge credit for constantly winning these one off Hampden games over a now lengthy period of time.
It’s remarkable ?.
22 Apr 2025 15:07:28
Weejoe,
Celtic 55 Rangers 54 this Saturday ?
Sevco have loads of catching up to do.

Aberdeen got a 50/ 50 split for their 2017 Scottish Cup Final against Celtic.
It was their 1st Scottish Cup Final appearance since the year 2000 against Rangers but on that occasion Aberdeen were unsurprisingly denied a 50/ 50 split.
Rangers received the full North Stand.
