Rubin Kazan, Bordeaux, Everton, Crystal Palace all getting in on the bidding war for Eddy now. While it'll make a lot of fans wring their hands it makes me sad. For me, he's the best striker we've had since Hooper - edging out Dembele purely for longevity - and it's become all-too-common for fans of my generation to only be able to enjoy a player for a brief period of time and wonder what could have been if we kept the gang together. He's not been the Eddy we know he can be lately so it's definitely the right time for him to move on so he goes with my best wishes. I'd love to see a good chunk of the money invested in a big brute of a CB.

1.) 27 Aug 2021 22:18:48
Agree that time for him to go. Not sure if better than Moussa, for me he was total footballer-almost like a third centre half with corners and so composed on the ball, also able to bring others in in way Edouard doesn’t. . Ed has that beautiful composure in the box or on a run towards. I just can’t stand the attitude and I also think that he might stifle Kyogo. I do 100% agree though that I would love us to bring in a proper centre half, preferably someone seasoned with bit of experience.

2.) 27 Aug 2021 23:28:31
On his day an unbelievable talent. Different player to Moussa so hard to compare but both supreme talents. Pity both saw us a stepping stone as both could have been legends.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 00:36:11
Different strengths Chinks you're right but in terms of pure footballing skill and ability, I'd go for Eddy. Dembele was a powerhouse.

4.) 28 Aug 2021 13:44:02
He stared to shine when mousa left imo. I don't think he's as gd as mousa different but not as tough as mousa which Eduard lacks.

5.) 28 Aug 2021 21:52:14
If he starts the two of them tomorrow eddy has to be on the left and kyogo through the middle.

"Rennes defender Sacha Boey (20) rejects Celtic due to the presence of foreign intermediaries, according to L'Équipe. "

Anybody got a clue what this even means?

{Ed002's Note - Sacha Boey (RB/LB) After a year on loan Celtic have opened discussions with the youngster who is cheaper than the preferred Brandon Soppy. Unfortunately, the approach taken was unusual and involved a third party who had demands of his own and this has blocked any move. This will likely of ended any chance of a move, although interest is maintained in Soppy.
Brandon Soppy (RB/CB) is refusing to extend his contract and wants to be playing at a higher-level has attracted interest from several sides but their is concern over his attitude. Rennes are more than happy to pass him on with an admission that Lens, Udinese/Watford, Monaco and Celtic have all enquired after him. Jonathan Barnet has been offering him around and raised the player with Celtic when discussing the future of Odsonne Edouard, and significantly, with Lille when discussing another player.}

1.) 20 Jul 2021 11:20:32
Why go for players with issues or get third parties involved? Totally amatuerish every season.

23 Jun 2021 20:44:59
Any news on the French right back we were supposedly chasing last week?

1.) 23 Jun 2021 22:09:24
Saw a French report Monaco are buying Christie for €5m.

2.) 24 Jun 2021 18:25:46
If/ when France is on the Green list, I'll drive him there!

3.) 24 Jun 2021 20:47:38
Pedro . bang on! lol HH.

4.) 24 Jun 2021 23:44:36
Magic pole he can sign a pre contract in a week as his contract expires on Jan 1st if we manage to get £1m we will be doing well.

28 May 2021 15:59:35
"Budget, backroom staff and personal reasons all factors in the deal collapsing"

Got to wonder what they were actually talking about for all those weeks then lol.

1.) 28 May 2021 16:10:54
Think it might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

2.) 28 May 2021 16:13:53
Exactly Kevbhoy HH.

3.) 28 May 2021 16:29:03
Until we get rid of the board of Tory barsteward rubbishbags we are going nowhere but down. They coukdnt run a few feet. I detest every one of them. rubbishbags and useless. Nobody 8s surprised because we know how osthet8c they are. If I hear 9ne person saying Lawell is s good b7snessmsn I will feckin scream. A cheap skate prick who failed 9 out 12 times to qualify for the CL. A cheap skate can't. He needs to take the rest of them. with him.

4.) 28 May 2021 16:49:33
Not happy with the budget must send out a warning to us already . One smack in the face after another this season/ year from Celtic.

5.) 28 May 2021 16:51:28
That's assuming they were talking to him. Nothing surprises me with the board any more.

06 Apr 2021 09:20:46
I saw a rumour that we're interested in Kristijan Lovric. We were linked with him last season as well so it would definitely fall into the category of a "club signing" but probably one that would please a lot of the fans if the incoming manager was on board with it. He's 25, Croatian international, can play either wing and has excellent delivery from set pieces. He's been at Gorica for 3 seasons now so not the highest level but has 44 goals and 21 assists in 90 games which is impressive.

1.) 06 Apr 2021 10:43:30
Have we not had enough Lawells to last us a lifetime?

2.) 06 Apr 2021 11:13:02
Definitely Magicpole but there's a difference between a Lawwell ego signing and taking advantage of prudent scouting. I'd be surprised if it came to anything but it's the sort of profile I'd love to see this summer; International players who are flying at their clubs, full of confidence and hungry to make the step up.

3.) 06 Apr 2021 11:30:35
Kevbhoy, it's more media nonsense. We don't have a head of recruitment, we don't have a manager and our new CEO hasn't started yet so unless it's the tea lady doing the deal I wouldn't be getting too excited just now. HH.

4.) 06 Apr 2021 12:10:55
It would definitely be a surprise if it happened Besty but, like I said, it's the type of player profile I'll be hoping for once the appropriate people are in place. We've had too many hopeful punts over the past few years.

5.) 06 Apr 2021 14:28:24
Paper talk and as mentioned, unless it's the tea lady it's made up crap.

6.) 06 Apr 2021 15:16:35
I would like to thank surely Celtic have learned the lesson about signing players without the manager or perhaps the DoF okaying it and IF we do bring in a player without a manager being announced I would hope that we have some one sorted for the position as manager and he has agreed to the signing WE certainly don't want to go back to the PL mentality as far as players signing goes surely we have learned that lesson if nothing else.

7.) 06 Apr 2021 15:38:24
Magicpole how can you confidently say its paper talk when you were having a meltdown in the above thread about paper talk.

8.) 06 Apr 2021 18:19:49
He certainly can't DC because it was on a Celtic fan page lol.

9.) 07 Apr 2021 00:35:57
I am not saying the story is true but just because Lawwell is leaving and Hammond has left, does not mean we have stopped looking at players and that we can't move for a player if the opportunity arises.

John Kennedy said as much the other day.

10.) 07 Apr 2021 10:59:12
Exactly LAW. It would be crazy to throw months or years of scouting in the bin just because Nick Hammond has left. The key is making sure the new DOF or manager like what's presented to them rather than just charging on and signing players.

11.) 07 Apr 2021 11:47:50
DC you are right. We don't know anything. Not a single thing. I was having a meltdown not because of the papers, but what came out of Strachan's mouth. That was clear it's not in the bag. As for anything else going on, you're right. We sometimes choose what we wish is true to believe. I think we all need to knock that on the head.

Nice to see Jack Hendry coming on leaps and bounds and enjoying success over in Belgium. He was always a solid, dedicated pro but was just the wrong fit at the wrong time for Celtic and we couldn't afford to give him the time he needed to reach the level he's at now.

1.) 16 May 2022 18:23:24
Personally I always thought Hendry was horrendous playing for us, and didn't see much improvement when he played for Scotland either.

{Ed007's Note - Last I heard he was warming the bench in Belgium. He was never Celtic class.}

2.) 16 May 2022 19:25:37
I always thought Jack Hendry was good and composed with the ball at his feet but he was poor at basic defending.
Jack has only played 3 full games for his club this calendar year.

3.) 16 May 2022 21:36:39
I never liked the look of him when he played for us at all Buzz and it's been proven that letting him go was the right decision for all parties. He's now got CL and international experience plus a league winner's medal in his back pocket.

4.) 17 May 2022 10:40:47
He's had an issue with getting game time as a result of issues with his gaffer rather than form. Add him to the list of people who couldn't cope with the pressure of playing for Celtic.

07 May 2022 16:18:22
To go from losing the league by 25 points last season to being imperious victors this season is nothing short of incredible. I am delighted and so proud of what our club has achieved this season. Next season, the focus must shift to maintaining our domestic dominance and serious progression in Europe. It will need us all pulling in the same direction but with Ange at the helm I believe we can do great things!

1.) 07 May 2022 16:57:05
@Kevbhoy big Ange has proven he is a top class manager and has an eye for a player, I am sure he has already identified players to bring in and just as important TOLD the Board he expects their full cooperation. HH.

02 May 2022 18:02:19
I think it was myself and Buzz who had a debate about how them winning the EL could affect us in the CL. Dale Johnson from ESPN tweeted the following this evening. Great news:

"Rangers, of course, would avoid the Champions League qualifiers by winning the Europa League.

It would mean both Celtic AND Rangers would go direct to the group stage.

Rangers would be seeded in the group stage draw as UEL titleholders, while Celtic would likely be in Pot 4.".

1.) 02 May 2022 18:57:09
I don’t think it was me that was debating with you Kev because I already knew the information above.

2.) 02 May 2022 19:24:58
UEFA confirmed today that Russia will remain suspended and the Russian clubs will be banned from their European competitions next season.
It means that Villarreal could win the Champions League this season and Celtic will still reach the group stages of the CL next season.
It also means that Sevco will play in the 3rd qualifying round of the league path to qualify for the CL.
It looks like Sevco will be seeded in both the 3rd qualifying round and the playoffs.
It also means that Sevco will be guaranteed at least the Europa League group stages next season and I think Hearts will be guaranteed at least the Conference League group stages next season.

3.) 02 May 2022 19:42:58
Somebody was worried if they won the EL then we would have to play qualifiers even if we won the league. I thought it was yourself mate but it's not really important, the good news is we're back in the big time!

4.) 02 May 2022 20:32:05
I remember it Kev but I was agreeing with you.

5.) 02 May 2022 20:58:26
BB - the really great thing is also that the Russian coefficient will be ripped to shreds next year. As they are one of our closest rivals for an automatic CL spot then it really is a Christmas and New Year rolled into one for Scottish teams. It is something we could profit from for the next 5 years to come.

6.) 02 May 2022 22:04:35
Scotland were in 11th place from last year’s association coefficient but we had already overtaken Russia this season.
It’s a shame that Scotland will benefit from this terrible war because Ukraine are also just below Scotland along with Serbia, I think.
But your right Stubbsie, Scotland could benefit for a number of years.

30 Apr 2022 10:00:25
Looking forward to tomorrow folks. Lots of decisions for the manager with players returning. I'd go with:

Ralston CCV Starfelt Taylor
McGregor O'Riley
Jota Rogic Maeda

That still leaves Turnbull, Hatate, Abada and Kyogo to come off the bench.

1.) 30 Apr 2022 10:28:17
Bitton is back training and he could make the bench.
I would’ve played a fully fit Bitton in our midfield tomorrow because he was badly missed in the Semi Final.

2.) 30 Apr 2022 10:30:39
Close enough kev bhoy.
I thought we missed bitton. In the semi.
Kyogo for maeda.
Then put maeda on run then ragged.
But you know this game is always unpredictable.
In the semi we missed to many sitters rangers scored that was it.

3.) 30 Apr 2022 10:52:29
Oriley and rogic too light Weight to play against them, Bitton is a good shout but I think it will be hatate or turnbull to start.

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't say Wee Orally is lightweight, Mally. I think he has a decent bit of dig about him and Rogic certainly didn't look too lightweight against them at Ibrox when he was pretty much unplayable, especially in the first half.
If you don't let them get near you the physical side of it doesn't come into it.}

4.) 30 Apr 2022 11:09:44
Very similar tactics you and me. Very similar post.
Great minds and all that.
Bitton has the dig we missed in the semi.
We missed his presence he is also mainly the only one who tries to pass to our forward line with we chips etc fro. center midfield.
Some thing I wish calmac would do more of rather than side to side. Not being negative here troops just we go to the when sometime the simple killer pass is right in front of you as our 3 front men are always ready.

5.) 30 Apr 2022 11:20:54
Unlike the Semi Final, I’m expecting our substitutions to make an impact on Sunday.
If O’Riley/ Rogic or Kyogo/ Giakoumakis come off the bench along with Turnbull and possibly Bitton and Abada Etc, it will be better than McCarthy, Soro and young Ben Doak that came off the bench in our 3-0 win in February.
I don’t see Celtic taking their foot of the gas this time because we will have the players to come off the bench to seriously hurt them and finish the job off with ease.
I’m convinced it will be another easy home victory for Champions elect Celtic.

6.) 30 Apr 2022 11:26:44
I agree with big GG to start with we need his height and physicality
In second half bring on Kyogo for his speed and alertness and bring Biton on to strengthen midfield.

7.) 30 Apr 2022 11:43:32
GG and Biton were outstanding at Sevco, the only problem with Biton is getting booked or sent off. The two of them were sorely missed in the semi.

{Ed007's Note - McGregor has the same amount of yellow cards as Bitton (CCV is one behind) and is a stick on to be booked again. Nobody ever comments on the amount of times McGregor is walking that yellow/red tightrope that people use to have a "pop" at Bitton.}

8.) 30 Apr 2022 12:49:48
Nir just stands out because he’s had his marching orders against them. Although he was played out of position.

{Ed007's Note - It's one of the reasons I don't like McGregor playing in that deeper position, his tackling is very poor and usually ends up in a foul at least. I'm not knock McGregor btw I just prefer him playing in a more advanced role where he is more effective.}

9.) 30 Apr 2022 12:51:33
Take your point ed, just the semi final we hit bullied a bit, but uts celtic Park so maybe no a bad shout.

{Ed007's Note - ?

24 Apr 2022 19:08:27
I said during the week that one of our main strengths this season has been recovering quickly from disappointing results. Today was a great example of that, we were in control from the first minute to the last and should have won by more. Pressure? What pressure? HH.

1.) 24 Apr 2022 19:46:37
Ross County have done well to be fair to them and there was a lot of talk about their current run but they haven't played the best team in the league during that. I was confident we'd do the business comfortably today. All the pressure is on Cinch FC now coming to a packed Celtic Park.

2.) 24 Apr 2022 20:22:01
Ross County have done well this season especially at home.
They have now only lost 2 home matches in their last 12 and both have come against Celtic.
Ross County have scored plenty of goals this season but only once in 4 games against our brilliant defence and keeper.

Totally agree Kev. A couple of seasons back when he was rumoured to be heading away I was OK with it. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do in this team but if the decision was his then all the best and good luck to him. It will be very exciting to see us try and replace a guy of his guile and creativity.

Based on the last couple of seasons I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. If Ange can get him back to where he was under Rodgers then he'll be a big asset but, as a high earner who's not particularly high up the pecking order, I would have liked to see him move on.

I doubt £11-13M would be exceeding the budget when we spent over £20M this season - our 4th in a row missing out on CL money. Call it £40M for CL off the bat, rough estimate of 45000 ST at 500 quid a pop is another £22M. Another £5M in CL group tickets. £4-5M in bonuses for Ajer and Christie, with potentially a Dembele sell-on. Could we make a decent chunk for Jullien, Barkas, Boli, Ajeti if their time is up as well?

Tell us the Frankfurt team's going to smash them on the park as well Ed, I beg you!

{Ed007's Note - When 2 diddy teams fluke and scrape their way to the final of any tournament it's too close to call, Kev but the good thing is that the Old Firm aren't at home and they've only won once away from home in the tournament (Dortmund) while Frankfurt have beaten all of Antwerp, Olympiacos, Real Betis, Barcelona and West Ham away in their run to the final.}

The CFG's scouting system will reach places ours could only dream of. With a CL bounty of circa £40m it could be tempting to splash the cash but ML could well have some excellent names we could pick up for a reasonable price. I think we need to give him the benefit of the doubt this summer and really support the club's recruitment because under Ange it's been top notch. Big money signings don't always guarantee success.
