Tierney withdraws from Scotland squad injured. I don't want to read too much into this, he could simply be wanting his holidays.
1.) 09 Jun 2025 13:16:35
I hope Tierney isn’t expecting his holidays to last until the turn of the year.
2.) 10 Jun 2025 06:07:11
The 2nd week in June and the internationals are in full swing - WTF.
I'd be telling miserable Stevie to poke it.

Reports Aberdeen are getting a 50-50 split of cup final tickets.
1.) 30 Apr 2025 14:52:04
I seem to remember last time Aberdeen met us in a cup final and they returned about 5000 tickets but it was too late to sell them so there was massive gaps in stands.
2.) 30 Apr 2025 16:52:02
Could it not be possible to charge clubs up front for the tickets they seek and are allocated for Cup matches .
If they cannot use all the tickets they are allocated, they should get a refund I only when the returned tickets are sold.
3.) 30 Apr 2025 18:51:44
Aberdeen will cover the costs of any tickets they don't sell des.
4.) 01 May 2025 19:49:48
I didn’t know that . Surely they won’t sell their allocation if it is the same as ours.

Sky say BR has confirmed pre contract agreement with Arsenal re u no who.
1.) 28 Jan 2025 21:11:24
Good news ?.
18 Dec 2024 19:35:30
KT playing for Arsenal tonight. This is him getting lined up for a January move to Celtic.
Sorry ed, only at the wynd up ??.
1.) 19 Dec 2024 00:04:49
And he goes off with an injury.
2.) 19 Dec 2024 08:13:54
This would be up there with the stupidest signing we've made in a long time IMO.
We all know how good he can be but it doesn't matter if he's the best in the world if we can't get him on the pitch.
We already see what happens when we have to chop and change our defence because CCVs injury record.
14 Jul 2024 17:37:52
Sky reporting that Oh away for 4 mill.

Apologies for bringing this up again. Stadium expansion. Most of us know the pros and cons so I'm not going there. I think the deal breaker is for example, one podcast mentioned about £100 mill would be needed. Some will say a loan agreement would make this do-able. But look how Arsenal suffered on the field for a few years post Emirates. My worry would be our finances would be channeled to paying the loan off to the detriment of the team for post expansion years. Thoughts Bhoys ?.
1.) 15 Jun 2025 12:03:39
Hi all hope you are well. I think it is a no brainer to expand now. It will only get more expensive as time goes on. Heard on a few podcasts that some foundation and structural work is still from the original 1929 build.
If capital is the reason not to, we could do a share issue to raise the money or part of it. I think it would also pay for itself with selling season books and revenue from additional boxes restaurants and bars that it could hold. Imagine a space where we could go to earlier on match days instead of hanging about outside in the rain.
I'm not in any hope though. I can't even get a screen put up to replace the broken one in the south west corner as we can't see the big screens because the south stand roof juts out.
2.) 15 Jun 2025 12:18:20
Guys we still have the "hotel project" as well, IF, and yes a big IF, we go ahead with stadium expansion surely it's a no brainer to incorporate hotel in plans also, a ready made income stream on tap, yes it will be expensive but surely club could look at some kind of sponsorship.
3.) 15 Jun 2025 12:41:13
Wouldn't want to have sponsorship - want Celtic to be Celtic instead of having a name like what St Mirren or Livingston has. It loses the identity of who we are.
4.) 15 Jun 2025 13:12:34
I am as fond of the stadium extension and hotel building as the next one, however now is not the time . After showing at long lost, a decent European campaign we must concentrate on keeping and building on our little bit of European success, until we are fighting for quarter finalist on a regular basis .
Then we should maybe think of putting into action the stadium/ hotel building.
5.) 15 Jun 2025 14:11:41
It's got to be done. With the cash reserves we have. Half of it along with borrowing and maybe naming rights would see it become doable. Maybe this is what the board have been saving up for Putting it off for another 5/ 10 years is just going to make the issue worse and far more expensive.
6.) 15 Jun 2025 15:19:14
@9iar — The Arsenal comparison is not really fair because they built an entirely new stadium in London, which involved very large costs and significant loan repayments.
If we rebuilt the Main Stand instead, increasing capacity along with state of the art media, corporate, player, and fan facilities, and made it UEFA compliant to host finals, then even with a 10 year loan, we would still generate a healthy profit each season while repaying it.
Once the loan is paid off, the extra income would be substantial. On top of that, we have close to 20,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets and money in the bank, so this project would carry relatively low risk.
7.) 15 Jun 2025 15:37:00
I'd love to see a brand new development;- stadium, hotel, museum etc all.
That would take vision, investment and likely naming rights etc All of which is unlikely to occur with our current board.
Whether that will take place in my lifetime or not, time will tell.

8.) 15 Jun 2025 17:59:07
How much did Arsenal get for Highbury . Surely they must have got a decent sum that offset some of the building costs .
There is no comparison between Arsenal’s turnover and ours . I want a strong settled Celtic team, we need to forget about Champions League if we are upgrading stadium . Our long dry period was when we upgraded 3/ 4 s of stadium in 90’s.
{Ed007's Note - Arsenal made about £30 million on the Highbury property deal. They took out a £130m loan to build flats/houses and when they were all sold it totalled about £160m.}
9.) 15 Jun 2025 20:12:15
I am not sure I agree weedes. We would not need to forget about champions league if we done it. The reason I say that is the extra revenue would allow us to service the debt and also increase our revenue. There would only be one season that would not be the case due to the main stand being closed while work was being carried out. However, we could negate that by either locating to Hampden or murrayfield for a season. That being said my preference would be to stay at Celtic park.
12 Jun 2025 16:58:44
2 difficult questions.
1) what is the best goal you saw the Hoops score that was pleasing, exhilarating on the eye?
2) what goal did they score in the context of what it meant to you.
I'll kick off.
1) 1972 cup final (6-1 against Hibs) . Dixie Deans 3rd. What a goal. If I could cheat, wee Jinky of all people scored a bullet header in what from memory was a 1975 Dryburgh Cup final against them (I think we won on penalties that day) .
2) This one was easier. Harold Brattback against St Johnstone to help stop their 10 in May 1998. We were winning 1-0 as you know getting towards the end of the game. I was ******* myself at 1-0. Pure relief and joy in equal measure.
1.) 12 Jun 2025 17:29:21
Larsson in the 6-2 game
And
Nakamura free kick against kili to win the league.
2.) 12 Jun 2025 20:29:09
Best goal was from Maurice Johnston against St Mirren at Love Street
1986 One of five to win the league with help of Albert Kidd
Class team goal.
3.) 12 Jun 2025 20:45:58
Brattbakk goal is definitely in the top 3! Nakamura against oldco in 2008 from about the mate. Larsson in the second leg against Boavista.
4.) 12 Jun 2025 22:19:33
Paul Lambert v oldco in the new year game, Larsson v Boavista but top of the pile is Brattbakk’s for me.
5.) 12 Jun 2025 22:22:04
We forgot about Tony Watt! I was in a pub for that and it was the loudest cheer I’ve ever heard, singing from that goal onwards, that was a special night.
6.) 12 Jun 2025 23:40:45
We don't mention Judas on here lol.
7.) 13 Jun 2025 09:20:04
The crucial Judas goal in ‘86 came into my head first but the Dembele team goal away to St. Johnstone was also special.
I can’t disagree with Larsson against Boavista or Brattbakk against St. Johnstone.
I also liked Sutton’s injury time goal to give us our only whitewash in 4 league matches against Rangers.
That was also part of 7 wins in a row against the EBT cheating Rangers team.

One for the older Bhoys. Has anyone kept the original 'Celtic Views' (I stupidly binned mine) ?
If so, what's the date and the headline? What game from the previous Saturday was covered?
I thought I'd start a wee jaunt down memory lane.
{Ed007's Note - I don't know if I have any the old original newspapers left but there might be but I do have book binders of programmes and Celtic Views from the mid 90s... if my nerdness serves me right they're in individual plastic pockets & in chronological order of game to View...
The Mrs keeps on at me to get rid of all the "rubbish" I've collected over the eyars but I just can't do it... Anyone that knows me, I just keep collecting more!}
1.) 09 Jun 2025 21:48:17
Must admit 9iar I did exactly the same. I had about 40 to 50 of them and didn't see the reason of holding onto them. I was clearing the loft and then they were gone.
2.) 10 Jun 2025 06:17:13
Did you keep the An Phoblachts though? ?.
3.) 10 Jun 2025 08:00:22
My Dad has the first ever Celtic View from August 1965.
It was given to him many years ago by his Uncle who didn’t have any Children of his own.
4.) 10 Jun 2025 12:16:43
Buzz, what's the Headline and what was the Saturday game it reported on? Just out of interest.
5.) 10 Jun 2025 14:14:49
I don’t know 9iar because it’s in my Dad’s house.
My Dad did mention the Celtic View only last week because it will soon be the 60th Anniversary since it was first published.
He must’ve been looking at it.
6.) 10 Jun 2025 15:11:18
Wee Joe, I always used to buy mine at the corner of Janefield Street, me and my pals used to create a diversion by crowding round the seller's and letting them disappear into a crowd of us, letting them get away from the Special Branch who were tailing them, it was a well rehearsed move appreciated by the people selling, great memories ??.
{Ed007's Note - ??✊
7.) 10 Jun 2025 15:14:49
I remember the newspaper Celtic View. Used to go into the shop after school to get it. Forgot all about this. Cheers for the memories!
8.) 10 Jun 2025 18:44:53
Topman letterkenny, that is a class story. ✊?.
9.) 10 Jun 2025 21:57:57
Letterkenny
A good friend of mine from Coatbridge was being sacked for SELLING it in a local factory in 1980 at the start of the hunger strikes and was hauled before the bosses. Everyone’s that was cited stated they’d been GIVEN it free of charge and consequently my good friend was exonerated and retained his job.
31 May 2025 20:04:14
I remember Celtic kicked off the way Paris did it when we started a derby at the Debt dome when I think it was Neil Lennon was our manager.
1.) 31 May 2025 21:12:37
Was recalling exactly the same, 2-0 we won!
2.) 31 May 2025 21:15:26
Infact it was one of the best performances I've sen from us in derby games. Apart from Bolingoli giving the ball away a couple of time we were flawless that day. Hatem El Hamed and Nir Bitton were outstanding at the back!
3.) 31 May 2025 21:27:04
Yes I think it was our 2-0 victory when Hayes scored in injury time although ours was kicked down to their corner flag.
27 May 2025 22:01:01
Ed, firstly thank you for your work over the year. Keeping the site going. Unlike football players, I guess you won't have a close season especially when the window opens. Make sure you take a break from it.
What's your slant on BR going into the last year of his contract? The deeper we go into next season without knowing whether he's staying or not could affect the teams performances as speculation mounts. Not ideal ?.
{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, I don't really take any time off as such as I can even keep the forums rolling on my phone if I'm out ??
Regardless of Rodgers contract situation the players need to step it up next season as far too many of them were simply going through the motions once Europe was out the way and didn't turn up in many of our "big" games. I can take losing games & even losing cups but in every single game the Celtic players should be coming off that pitch knowing they gave everything they had out there - not many can do that since January imo.
As far as Rodgers extending his deal or not I think a lot of that will come down to how well he is backed in this window, he needs to bring in players that will bring in a fresh impetus to the squad.
I know I'm like a broken record but this is another situation where we need a DOF overseeing things, the Lennon Miller rumours are a perfect example of it, should the decision on whether to try and sign one of the best young Scottish players in years be down to a manager with a year left on his deal?}
1.) 28 May 2025 13:37:05
Incredibly Celtic have lost the most games ( 7 ) from the start of January until the end of the season in 35 years.
( 1990 when we last lost to Aberdeen in the SC Final and that was our 8th defeat since January 1st 1990 )
During our horrendous years we played the league cup from August to about the November time and we didn’t always Qualify for European football.
When we did Qualify for European we didn’t get past Christmas.
Celtic were always the draw specialist in the early to mid 1990s.
Although we didn’t win loads of games we also didn’t lose the majority of our matches.
It’s more astonishing when you consider Celtic only lost 2 games in the whole of 2024 which was our best record in over 100 years.
Complacency definitely played a huge part in our worst losing record since 1990 from January until May.
2.) 28 May 2025 14:54:53
Cheers Ed ?.
3.) 28 May 2025 17:15:41
I thought our for dipped once kyogo left but had not realised it was that bad. ?.
4.) 28 May 2025 17:38:46
The absence of a Winter Break, might have been a factor in our less than impressive 2025? The team were in full flow through late Summer and Autumn even with three games a week during CL games. We were even performing better after European games where we'd struggled in the past. I also think we were fortunate with injuries within the nucleus of the squad with some being over-relied on and we ran out of steam.
5.) 28 May 2025 17:58:33
Complacency may have played a part in our Cup Final loss, however I have no doubt tiredness was also a factor. Complacency would put a very big question mark against BR's ability as manager. It would be very much the Manager’s responsibility to prevent his players becoming complacent.
I can’t remember any team consistently playing as fast and with such a high work- rate as our team played at from August to February. During that period apart from International weeks we were playing at weekend and midweek for that whole period. Becoming tired and not working as hard as our team does when on form would make it natural for team to not make the same runs, press as high and as often when games become meaningless.
The team probably couldn’t regain its previous speed, work - rate and high pressure after easing up in some games.
If the Board feels complacency caused us to lose matches including Cup final, then the Board need to study long and hard before they allow him free rein in transfer window and sign all the players he seeks, not only that but Board should debate at length whether they want to renew his contract.
If he cannot eradicate complacency amongst the team, we have a major problem as the better a team we have, the bigger a distance there will be between us and other teams leaving a large opening for complacency.
18 Jun 2025 12:36:54
Never say never. Remember Broonie was going to them and look what happened. But deep down, I can't see him coming to us.
10 Jun 2025 21:32:18
Sorry to say mate they're signing me as the old head to mentor the young guns. It's the way forward ?.
07 Jun 2025 14:42:39
Ajer was one of the players who I think put the tools away in the ill fated 10 season. Not for me.
20 Mar 2025 21:57:44
Was he not one of the ones who downed tools in the failed 10Iar?
24 Jan 2025 11:24:15
Jota left summer 2023 (I think) ? . If so, if he returns to the UK before 5/ 4/ 25, he'll be liable to UK tax on all overseas earnings. I'm ex HMRC.
14 Jun 2025 20:57:29
Édouard no from me.
13 Jun 2025 20:09:02
I hate using the word protestant, I find it a divisive term but yeah I'm one of them. My dad supported Celtic (an atheist who surprisingly enough wasn't religious) . I followed my dad's footsteps and supported Celtic. First game was either 5-0 against St Mirren or the 0-1 defeat to AC Milan 1968. I'm ashamed to say at pre 2012 OF games, I was more bitter than my Catholic Celtic supporting fans I went to the games with. High school life was tough. The majority respected me being a Celtic supporter. But there were 2 or 3 who gave me a hard time. F***** b****** etc. Hard core bigots. Fortunately nothing physical. But yeah, scary at times.
{Ed007's Note - I know what you mean about the Protestant thing, my wife went to "Protestant" primary & secondary schools, through her choice she's been in Chapels more than she's ever been in a Church, she supports Celtic, she's been to Rebel nights & parades over the years...
Is it an age thing? Back in the day there were "Kafflick" and "Proddy" schools so if you didn't go to one you must have went to the other... it's more non-Denomination these days. Many moons ago my future wee sis in law's "Proddy" primary got knocked down and after a battle with the council she went to the Catholic school just round the corner, for 3/4 years, even at Holy Cross there were Muslim kids when I was there and a Muslim teacher. I don't think the lines are as clear cut in reality as they are in us a society's head... maybe...
12 Jun 2025 21:22:27
Hoopy birthday Tim.
11 Jun 2025 22:17:13
Buzz or anyone, how many domestic penalties did we and them get last season? There's usually, as we all know, a decent gap in favour of them, has been for decades. But I sense it may have been nearer 50-50 for last season. I might be wrong.
10 Jun 2025 17:56:51
Just get a vibe he's one of them but the photo Ed sent suggests otherwise.
