A rumour which most fans would probably find believable

Apparently our lovely Board are haggling over the severance pay owed to MON, well why break a habit of a lifetime as they fekin haggle over EVERYTHING

Also reports in press today with the Oasis concerts all sold out the club stand to make £1.2m a day after expenses so Board will pocket about £6m, poor Martin probably only wanted £2m.

I remember during the lockdown season people were saying just pay Lenny his money earlier in the season but I think they were expecting him to quit empty handed.

Ed do you think it’s too early to give him the heave based on the failures so far this year? Or have you seen enough to make the judgement? The games he’s lost for me is unforgivable - I don’t think being 4 -0 in the LASK game was handled property and for me that’s on Martin and Maloney and not the board.

{Ed007's Note - The LASK defeat is 99% on the players and 15 on MON and his staff, a team not defending a 4-0 lead with 20 mins to go is on the players showing no fight and dig, no passion and pride in the jersey they're lucky enough to wear. Once you cross that line there's nothing the board - or coaches - can do, it's on you, no matter you're ability you give it everything you've got regardless of the oppostion.
We can talk about tactics and team management but the weakest point in the team is McGregor, if he can't see it himself and do the decent thing does MON have the minerals to tell him?
And everyone can slag Scales off, he's still our best and most reliable CB - is he a world-class CB? No, nowhere near but he's a damn site better than CCV and Trusty, I'd rather see Dane Murray get game time than ever see CCV in a Celtic shirt again.
MON does't take much to do with training/tactics etc, he never has, but any time you see any videos of training it looks like all a bit of a laugh and a joke and when you throw into the mix how unfit our players look I think there's a problem there, what exactly does "Fozzy" do for his wage?
My own opinion is that a certain wee clique in the dressing room has too much power at the Club and too much input on how the team plays.}

It was telling Ed that MON mentioned that he wanted to switch to a 4-4-2 at halftime and McGregor agreed! I thought why mention McGregor and not Maloney.
It's always the same at certain clubs when the captain and his wee pals end up with to much power.
I don't think this would have happened under Ange.

ED007 is there any truth in rumour that team are getting mixed messages ie Martin giving his instructions, then Maloney and Fotheringham telling players something differrent.

{Ed007's Note - I seen the opposite, that MON only travels up on the morning of games and tells the players totally different tactics to they've worked on all week.
How there is pics of MON all week and a live press conference the day before games etc I don't know - maybe they're AI?

We need a clear out of the coaching staff. They are failing this Club. Just like in business, if your managers can't be bothered that reflects on the shop floor.

The captain's a pussy, but where's the nutcases, KT is very subdued, Scales has the look of a potential lunatic but most gingers do, CCV and Trusty are horrendous and soft as $hit - remember we had guys like Lustig, Ledley, Bitton Leigh Griffiths even Greg Taylor I'd say , captains without armbands that went nuts when stuff wasn't going well? Araujo and Saracchi showed plenty of heart in a Celtic jersey and both would probably have signed but the club didn’t want to know.
It’s characters like that we are badly missing.

I know Araujo has since picked up a bad injury but that’s not the point.
Taylor and Saracchi were both willing to come back but now we have a CB as our cover for left back.

On this date in 1984,
Celtic wore a shirt sponsor ( CR Smith ) for the first time away to Dundee in a hard fought 3-2 victory.

Celtic were comfortably winning 2-0 in the first half but Dundee came back to equalise on the hour mark.
Dundee then received a penalty with the chance to take the lead but Bonner saved John Brown’s effort.
Tommy Burns then scored the winner with 9 minutes remaining.
A certain Albert Kidd played the full second half for Dundee.

A couple of years earlier in 1982,
Celtic went to Amsterdam and beat a Cruyff Ajax team 2-1 to progress 4-3 on Aggregate.
Celtic were heading out on goal difference until McCluskey scored a last minute winner.
Charlie Nicholas scored a World Class opening goal.

In 2022 an Ajax fan was telling me in the pub that was his first European match as a youngster.
He had just came back from a victory at Ibrox which confirmed Sevco were the worst CL side ever in 30 years of the old format.

Also on this date in 1993,
DJ Tiger Tim was sacked at halftime in our 1-0 victory against Young Boys AET.
Rangers FC had lost a last minute goal away from home in Europe in an earlier kickoff time which knocked them out.

Celtic were always guaranteed European Groups football this season but when we dropped down to the Europa we only spent £3M on one permanent player who hasn’t kicked a ball.

Sevco on the other hand got knocked out of Europe altogether but then went out and spent £18M on 2 players.

That will be the difference until the January transfer window opens because I expect them to be top come the New Year.
But it’s a long season and Celtic will need to get the finger out in January or we can forget 6 in a row because this current squad isn’t good enough.

We had a bad week with the midfield posted missing and a woeful defence yet we are 2 points ahead in the league! We will get better and hopefully buy some physicality in midfield and defence in January. So many have written us off far to early!

DC no one in this site wants to be just above Sevco.

We are however not blind or stupid to think that 4 defeats from the 4 big games is a blip.

2 goals scored with 12 conceded in them 4 games and scraping wins against the bottom 6 teams in the league.

Only 2 pts ahead after we all laughed at the Sevco start. Unless MON can change things up and start dropping empty jerseys then yeah it as it stands being in contention come January is likely.

I’ve got more concerned after watching a podcast about Celtic by numbers.
It mentioned this Celtic team are giving away more chance than last season’s team and more than the 2020/ 21 team.

Luckily so far our keepers have had a league high of 86% save rate in the league which is very unlikely to stay that high.
Usually a decent keeper is in the low 70s and so far we are the only club in the 80s.
Hearts have only had a 53% save rate from shots on target in the league this season which is also unlikely to stay that low.

It’s a probability things are going to get worse in the league before they get better because we are not being coached properly.
But it’s a long season and we need to dig deep similar to last season.

It looks like Martin is staying at Celtic. On a purely personal level we all hope it works out for him. He epitomises all that's good about the Celtic spirit.
If it pans out to be a tough season over the longer haul I can definitely see him walking.


All that aside, the guy's got too much class to publicly open up against the hierarchy. Stagnation is king with our club.

Remember Donovan only turned 20 a fortnight ago.
Hickey is 24 and Patterson will be 25 next month.

Yet Donovan has played more European matches for his club than those 2 combined.
Donovan 14 European games already.
Patterson 9 European club games but 5 behind closed doors.
Hickey Zero European club matches.

Donovan is doing well and he will continue to get better.

Colby is a great player but I'm hoping for our sake that he is nowhere near the level he could be. I think he has tremendous potential but needs to he coached properly. This is where the Club could actually fail him with our current set up.


We need fundamental change in the coaching team at Celtic so players like Donovan can continue to grow in the modern game. I'm sorry to say but O'Niell and Maloney and the current coaches are not the answer.

The richest league in the world needs to be seen as fairly ran, there's BILLIONS at stake from all sorts of revenues, the Pub League brand loses nothing of they expel City, it will still be the "biggest" richest league in the world. For a club to get off basically scot free of years of "cheating" in that league could be catastrophic and cause all sorts of legal problems from other member clubs.
This isn't Scotland that's entire eco-system orbits around 2 teams and the need to market the "Old Firm" for TV money etc, Newcastle I'd imagine will be very interested in the outcome of the City case and they have very deep pockets, deeper than even City's.

As you said Ed, there is no reliance of a single team or fixture in the Premiership. It's a multi billion pound league because of sponsorship so the financial implication of them not sanctioning City could far outweigh the fallout they could have from sponsors.

Also, to not sanction would bring the fury from every other Club that has been affected by their actions.
Everton at the moment appealing similar charges.
They can't get away with it.
