Very little talk of our new signing Hogh on here. His signing is massive. The pedigree this guy comes with is top notch. All I can say is enjoy him he won’t be here long.

Love him awready. In his first two interviews. First things he says was praise god. Brilliant. Two many fans living in a state of negativity rather moan that see how big a signing this is.

Who's supplying? He's a penalty box striker our midfield and wingers need major surgery. Our the boy is going to be a expensive flop.

30 Jul 2026 07:31:31
UI, I think everyone thinks its a big signing, and are very happy, as he is a top striker and I for one am surprised he hadn't been snapped up by a 'top 5' club, however this has only to be a start, him and Duran, we need far more players in and soon, as our biggest game of the season is looming. We are nowhere near strong enough.

I think that is why there hasn't been an overreaction because most are aware of how much work is needed to overhaul the team/ squad to compete in Europe and be successful domestically because teams in our league have taken in players, however we don't know if they have improved yet but we need to improve from last season.

30 Jul 2026 08:09:05
You sound like the board, they also have no clue why there is such negativity in the fans.

30 Jul 2026 08:15:21
Think Hogh can do the lot he's 6'1and can hold it up score all sorts and doesn't mind a tussle with centre halfs.

30 Jul 2026 09:20:58
Maybe they top 5 think he's average but we've been so starved of good signings we think this is bigger than it actually is? Or it's a van djik similarity that nobody wanting to take a gamble on a 25 year old with potential. i think he's the type of striker who can thrive in spl.

whether we will have the surrounding players or system to bring out the best in him only time will tell. what i do like about him is that since he arrived in Sweden his league tally has got better evey season albeit without ever breaking the 20 goal mark. hopefully he can do that here.

30 Jul 2026 12:11:02
Joe I’m just no a depressing negative Moaner like yer self mate. Tbh your one the reasons a dnt really look on this forum anymore mate aw u do is moan post after post of moaning about the board aw ye get off you is negativity even when there’s positives.

I was putting up we bible verses a wile bk on this forum and you were even putting coments on them about the board.

U would make a wedding function feel like a wake mate.

I’m buzzing about the 2 new signings and I know we will get the players needed in before the window closes and I will continue to be a Celtic man enjoying my team everything else is out with my control. Away you pap some darts at that dart board now mate with pics eh the board members on it.

30 Jul 2026 11:30:27
Agree UI, this guy is a 'baller' and I think he'll score a lot of goals for us.

In terms of supply, Duran will play on one wing and possibly Hassan on the other but if his singing starts to drag out perhaps a move for Maswanise from Motherwell who can operate on either flank or even up front if required.

In the midfield Baur will pull the strings and along with Calmac provide the supply, not forgetting Nygren.

On this date in the year 2000,
Martin managed his first competitive Celtic match in our 2-1 league victory at Tannadice.
Larsson scored the early opener and Sutton got a crucial 90th minute Winner.

Also in the year 2005,
Celtic had a crazy 4-4 Draw at Fir Park with Hartson scoring a Hat-trick
That meant we had conceded 9 goals in Strachan’s first 2 games as the Manager of Celtic after losing 5 goals in Europe.
WGS turned things around by winning the League and League Cup in his first season in charge.

Kairat won again on penalties in the CL Qualifiers on sudden death.
They beat both us and Bratislava last season on penalties.
I wouldn’t mind getting them this season with our firepower which was previously missing.

I don't want aek Athens. ?.

29 Jul 2026 21:32:03
Thought you weren't interested joe ? ???.

29 Jul 2026 21:38:18
I think our forward line would run riot against that Kairat mob this season and we owe them one.

HH.

29 Jul 2026 21:38:29
Reckon we get Norwegians lol. Yes would want the Almighty again.

29 Jul 2026 21:38:48
I never said I don't want Celtic to do well. I just said I had stopped watching and I would not be back while the Desmond's are there.

29 Jul 2026 22:09:35
Just realised aek are seeded. ?.

29 Jul 2026 23:07:44
Even if it is AEK. surely they will be more worried about us. Things starting to take shape. Looks like AJ going. £30m in my book, and I don't think that's pie in the sky, given his performances for us, length of contract left, world cup and no need to sell.

29 Jul 2026 23:38:19
Looking through our possible opponents for the CL qualifier. None of them look like holding that much fear. I'd fancy us to get by any of them. With 1 or 2 more quality signings.

30 Jul 2026 00:18:48
I’d like to see us get £20M ish for Johnstone but can see it being some where between £15-£20M Dave. I think he’s a fantastic player but can see the money being as high as £30M.

30 Jul 2026 01:49:40
Maeda missed a sitter home and awayv whichbwoukd have beat almighty kairats. yes Aek will be rubbishting it with our European pedigree.30 million for aj is pointless unless reinvested.

30 Jul 2026 11:36:51
Bids for AJ should start around £20M+ given his age, ability, contract length and W. C performance.

If it is Everton who enquire, Moyes should be reminded he's bidding for a major upgrade on the player his club spent £11M (plus add ons) on 4 years ago in Nathan Patterson.

29 Jul 2026 17:58:45
The whole statement from Celtic F. C. reads like classic corporate PR. Lots of words, very little substance.

The first thing that stands out is that there's no real accountability. They admit there was "work to be done" on supporter engagement, but they never explain why we got to this point in the first place. It wasn't an accident. Fans have been raising the same concerns for years and were largely ignored until the pressure became impossible to dismiss.

The solution they've come up with? Another executive role and another fan forum.

A Head of Supporter Engagement sounds impressive on paper, but why should supporters need another middleman? If the board genuinely wanted to engage with fans, they could have done that already. Appointing another employee doesn't fix the fact that the people making the decisions have been largely absent when supporters wanted answers.

Then there's Celtic Connect. Again, plenty of buzzwords like "input", "engagement" and "collaboration", but nowhere does it say supporters will actually influence decisions. There's no commitment to publish minutes, explain why suggestions are accepted or rejected, or hold the board accountable. It sounds like consultation without any obligation to listen.

What's most telling is everything they don't mention.

Last season wasn't just about communication. Supporters were frustrated by recruitment, a lack of ambition in the transfer market, ongoing European failings, ticket pricing, fan treatment and the general feeling that the club only reacted once criticism became too loud to ignore. None of that is addressed here. Instead we're told about "digital transformation" as if better emails or a new app were ever the issue.

Brian Wilson quotes Jock Stein saying "Football without fans is nothing", which everyone agrees with. But if that's really the philosophy, why did it take so much supporter unrest before the club suddenly decided engagement mattered?

The statement also congratulates itself by saying there's already "a lot of good work" being done with supporter groups. If that engagement was working so well, why was there such widespread dissatisfaction in the first place? You can't claim the existing system is effective while simultaneously admitting it needs overhauled.

The biggest problem is that this changes the process, not the culture. Fans haven't been crying out for another committee. They've been asking for transparency, accountability and a board that listens before problems escalate rather than after.

There's also nothing measurable here. No timelines, no commitments, no reporting back to supporters and no way of judging whether any of this has actually made a difference six or twelve months down the line.

Trust isn't rebuilt by creating a new job title or another discussion group. It's rebuilt by actions. Better communication is welcome, but it's meaningless if the same decisions are made behind closed doors and supporters are simply informed afterwards.

Until the board shows that supporter views genuinely influence decisions, this feels less like meaningful reform and more like a well-written corporate exercise designed to ease criticism without addressing the reasons supporters lost trust in the first place.

29 Jul 2026 19:35:58
??As soon as I read the email about supporter engagement I knew weenie would be typing a story?.

29 Jul 2026 21:11:31
We are becoming statement fc a bit, need some actual actions, need some people in there who can get something done. Statement reads fine, the more words there is the more there is to hold them accountable for.

29 Jul 2026 21:37:18
It's a lot of crap. The board will control it. They don't give a feck about fans!

29 Jul 2026 23:20:09
Didn't want to disappoint you steff. ?

Agreed, they don't care one iota about us.

30 Jul 2026 09:22:17
They have done nada to allow the support to put any trust or faith in them and a few token signings changes nothing. For most fans, everything they do going forwards is viewed with suspicion. There is no route back. Nothing they have done over the last few years, and that’s being generous, suggests they give a toss about the people who ultimately fund this operation.

Their silence speak volumes for the utter contempt in which they hold the lifeblood of this club.
Vive la collective.

30 Jul 2026 10:51:20
@Chas - I mentioned this earlier in the summer. Anyone expecting things to be different should prepare to be disappointed. The board is still the same, the person driving the bus is still the same, and the strategy appears unchanged. So far, I've seen nothing to suggest they're prepared to take supporters' concerns seriously.

I also said in another post that I'm concerned they're laying the groundwork for a confrontation with the ultras. My fear is that they'll take a heavy-handed approach, hoping to provoke a reaction, and then use that as justification for banning them. If that happens, I expect they'll try to marginalise the ultras and persuade other supporters to turn against them.

That would only recreate the divisions we saw last season and deepen the rift between the support and the board. I think they're badly misreading the mood of many fans, a lot of whom would sooner back the ultras than back the board.

29 Jul 2026 16:52:58
Is there a team or teams in for Engles? Or has he asked for a transfer? I have noticed a few people saying he will be away before the end of the window but haven't seen anything about him leaving or asking for a transfer.

29 Jul 2026 13:45:47
Ed I just wanted to get away from player transfers for a minute and ask a couple of questios about the vacancies within the club.

I know MON mentioned that the Head of Recruitment and Head of Football Operations will be looked at soon, is there any rumours of names of people coming in? There were reports of Maloney getting the HOFO role before he came back as MON's assistant. Is there a chance that we are waiting to see how Cooper and the other boy (name escapes me, sorry) get on and we will give them the roles.

Is there anyone lined up as the new Pathway manager? Again I have heard that McGeady was brought in but nothing has been announced.
Finally, is there any murmurings regarding the 2 vacancies on the board and how long BW is staying on as the temporary Chairman.

Sorry for all the questions, I promise I will leave you in peace for a while.

Thanks in advance and thanks for all the great work you all do.

{Ed007's Note - Sorry mate but I've not heard anything about any changes behind the scenes ?‍♂️

Keep reading that we’ve smashed our transfer record on Hogh, smashed seeming to be overstated statement. ( still twenty years behind inflation, but slowly going in the right direction) . Genuinely curious, in difference between what what we paid for Engels and Hogh.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jul 2026 15:22:29
The difference of what we're holding not on for baur? We need at least 3 more of a similar status and a board reshuffle.

29 Jul 2026 15:50:39
It’s just words could be 1p and newsflash says smashed record, we will see same description for many teams.

29 Jul 2026 16:05:23
I'm not overly concerned re Baur saga as he looks to me like a right-footed McCowan.

I would rather we were looking for a strong DM, pushing CM forward and giving us plenty attacking midfield options.

It's a real shame Hatate has downed tools as at his best he is by far our top attacking midfielder.

29 Jul 2026 21:41:00
I am optimistic we might get both.

29 Jul 2026 07:27:40
If Celtic's board were trying to prove they have no coherent strategy, they couldn't have done a better job.

They banned the Green Brigade over alleged assaults on a steward and police officers, allegations the group denied. Despite the seriousness of those claims, no one has been charged or convicted in connection with the alleged assaults and no video evidence of the incident despite all the cameras inside the stadium. This would not be the first time the board had made up lies about the group to justify a ban.

Then came the disastrous AGM, where supporters and shareholders turned on the board. Nepo-baby, Ross Desmond, speaking for his daddy, delivered a lecture to fans that only widened the divide. It felt less like leadership and more like Daddy Desmond sending his son out to tell everyone they're wrong.

Months later, after lengthy talks, Celtic welcomed the Green Brigade back; probably because they needed them to rescue the season after all their disastrous decisions. The club effectively told supporters that enough progress had been made to move forward.

So what happened next?

After the league had been rescued (thanks green brigade) . They banned two Green Brigade members over an alleged incident at that very same AGM, a historical matter that existed long before the reconciliation process.

It begs an obvious question: if this was serious enough to justify fresh bans, why was it apparently not serious enough to prevent the Green Brigade's return in the first place, or at least those two members?

The whole saga has become a masterclass in inconsistency. Ban them. Negotiate with them. Welcome them back. Then reopen old wounds and ban supporters again.

Meanwhile, the board continues to expect fans to believe every decision is part of a carefully thought out strategy.

From the outside, it looks anything but.

Supporters deserve consistency, transparency and competent leadership. Instead, they're getting mixed messages from a board that appears to spend more time fighting its own fans than explaining its own decisions.

True and informative post Joe, what’s your point.

29 Jul 2026 10:17:58
Mate everyone knows the score with the board but i don't think it needs to be said numerous times every single day. We made a great signing yesterday but you still posted negative comments. HH.

29 Jul 2026 10:33:36
Merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the board who claim to want unity.

29 Jul 2026 11:30:31
So who would you want on the board?
How do you remove the board as they won't walk away?

29 Jul 2026 11:45:24
Do you not get it steviebhoy?

I will not be stopping, being hyper critical of the board. I don't care what they do now, what they done last season put me passed the point of no return and I won't be letting up until the Desmonds are gone.

29 Jul 2026 12:39:57
They don’t read this Joe, we do every single day same rubbish from you.

29 Jul 2026 12:49:31
It’s obvious they agreed to The Bhoys joining The Green Brigade this season so they can eventually ban both Ultras.
It’s only a matter of time from our controlling Celtic Board.

29 Jul 2026 13:22:56
If you feel that way, then you may want to ignore it in future.

29 Jul 2026 14:05:52
Imhere2 this has always been my point to Joe he somehow thinks he’s holding the board to account by berating all of us daily, but in his defence he at least has started his own thread perhaps we should leave him to it.

29 Jul 2026 14:09:51
Wee Joe
If, as it sounds like from your words, that you are so fed up with things and have given up so many things - why are you continuing to contribute to the banter. It certainly doesn't sound like you're enjoying the site content and I think many posters think you've gone beyond the pale a bit, possibly for your own sake, regardless of how you are making others feel.

Think some folk are genuinely worried about you.

29 Jul 2026 14:58:03
The board are playing you like a fiddle. They intend to butter people up and then go after the ultras, in the hope they will. have less support if things are ok on the park.

29 Jul 2026 15:03:35
The faux concern is noted, but it's a poor substitute for addressing what I've actually said.

Being critical of the board, doesn't mean I've "given up", nor does it require an armchair assessment of my wellbeing. If you disagree with my posts, just say so. Wrapping it up as "people are worried about you" is patronising and avoids the substance entirely.

If the only way you can respond is by speculating about me rather than engaging with my points, that probably says more about your argument than it does about me.

29 Jul 2026 15:14:33
@buzz - that is how I see it as well mate. The board have them in their sights and my guess is they banned two of their members to I atigate another fight with them.

29 Jul 2026 16:19:29
I like reading Weejoe’s posts because his information is accurate.

29 Jul 2026 17:02:33
This is a banter page everyone has a right too express their opinion on the club we love agree with what someone says or not look at what they feel or not. But just IMO no need to slag of someone's opinion debate it certainly or skip the post. But we all have our own opinions.

29 Jul 2026 16:01:19
If the ultras play by the rules they should have no issues, can young angry, sometimes drunk people do that I’m not so sure, I’m not so sure about wanting to ban them all together either, I feel it was a reaction to bhoys being so close to them and entering main stand during derby defeat that’s led to this, ( after that moving between stands was stopped which is crap for those in main stand as the facilities are so poor) if we win on park angry might be able to be scrubbed from that list.

Has the 2 individuals banned still not been resolved?
The collective isn’t going anywhere so these are all issues still to be resolved, once season starts winning can dampen noise but run up to agm i'd expect winning or not some of issues to come to the fore ( board changes, fan engagement, recruitment, structure )

U wander if the attitude towards agm will be same as last year which was agrresively defensive, or if they will read the room ( ideas of everyone playing nice obv won’t happen) none the less balls in clubs court to reduce the issues and noise.

29 Jul 2026 17:29:35
They are just trying to get me to stop posting as they know I am right in what I say.

29 Jul 2026 18:08:48
I can’t say I enjoy your posts all the time Joe, because quite frankly you’re usually spot on and that’s a sad reflection of the club.

No idea why people get upset with your posts though mate. The club have done nothing to fix things other than make 2 signings in 8months and tell us they hear our concerns. Oh… and they updated CelticTV (ask anyone what that experience was like - smh) !

29 Jul 2026 18:41:58
Since when did this forum become a shutdown of free speech? Weejoe has always shown us he is totally against what this board is up to and the members of it being as far detached from the supporters as they can get. What I've always taken from people's opinions is that they are 100% entitled to them, no matter how against them you might personally be.
I have my grave concerns about this board but they must be listening to at least a tiny part of our concerns as things are finally moving in the transfer department. What do people actually want, us to be like our poor neighbours? Going out year after year, paying top dollar for absolute dross only for them to repeat it every single year when they get shown up?
What I want is for the Club to still be looking at top targets but doing business much earlier in the summer to have them in place for the European qualifiers.

Let's not forget the Adam Idah debacle, a board rushed into paying over 9 million for a dud who had flashes of a good player during his loan. Arnie's signing was also treated with derision at first and only now are we reaping the benefit of his maturing at the Club with some of his performances last Season being absolutely crucial to some of our wins.
Holding on to our top players as we've seen, is nigh on impossible if they want to leave. Maeda was going, that was never going to change and AJ, Engels and Hatate are most probably next to be tempted away some point soon. The powers at be are not daft, they know these players could be off so that is where they need to be concentrating on, replacing them.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you don't like it, scroll on by!

29 Jul 2026 18:51:15
Cheers for the support guys. ?.

29 Jul 2026 19:01:51
Firstly I knew by the 1st 2 lines who the poster was of this thread (Same old same old) . Everyone is entitled to their opinion it is a free world after all. Members don't need to read the post if they don't want.

I stopped reading at the part were it stated the GB were banned due to allegations of assault on a steward and police officer. No one been charged and no cctv. WeeJoe wants to push a narrative against the Celtic board.

Quote from the news.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Glasgow today, Thursday, 20 November, 2025, in connection with a disturbance at Celtic Park in Glasgow on Wednesday, 29 October, 2025.

“He will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

Now I have no clue what the outcome of this court appearance or indeed the trial if there was one.

But WeeJoe let's once and for all stop this that no one was arrested when there clearly has been.

It quite frankly makes the rest of your post irrelevant. Do your research before posting what you believe to be the truth which clearly isn't.

{Ed007's Note - I'm pretty sure it was a Breach of the Peace charge the lad got, for shouting and putting stewards & police officers in a state of alarm - nobody has been charged and no evidence has been produced of any assault.}

29 Jul 2026 19:06:56
It is a banter site, so that includes, as an important part of that, to include individual opinions, feelings, thoughts and concerns.

Joe from the first post I have read of his, has been consistent in his opinion about how our board are treating the fans and accepting no responsibility for the current state of the team and on many occasions, they have targettted fans and fans groups, without justification.

He is right that we deserve a board that works for the club, which works for the fans, who are the most important part of any club, and that means better communication and more fan involvement in decisions which affect the direction of the club.

Fan engagement is a given at most clubs and when Mckay was CEO he started improving that process. He was removed very quickly and it went back to status quo.

So for me I have absolutely no issue with Joe or anyone posting their thoughts. Like me you have the choice not to read the post or like me, challenge that post if you disagree. That is how discussion is supposed to work.

I cannot recall how many times Ed has challenged posts I make, I don't get upset about it as most of the time he's right (*******) but it starts a discussion.

{Ed007's Note - ?? That's only because I know you're pretty sensible I can have a bit of back & forth with you mate - while proving you wrong of course☺

29 Jul 2026 20:26:38
Hi Ed, I don't know the exact details of the incident. If you have more knowledge of the incident, that's fair enough.

My point being weather it was a Breach or an assault and both crimes differ in punishment. The point is there was some altercation so for WeeJoe to say the GB are innocent of wrong doing and got banned for nothing is not accurate.

I've been there 1st hand and see how the GB act to any sort of authority or directives.

{Ed007's Note - You should have came over and said hello ???

29 Jul 2026 20:03:30
@ed - that was my understanding as well. The fans who got charged, were charged with breech of the peace.

The only reference I saw to someone being charged with an assault was on Reddit, which is far from a reliable source. I challenged Greentree to provide his source numerous times but he never does.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah don't trust Reddit, I fell down a rabbit hole of Bargain Hunt presenters on there the other day and they were definitely not official BBC pics!!
I spent about 5 hours making sure.... ☺

29 Jul 2026 21:09:01
Joe I don’t want you to stop posting, as you can see I’ve engaged in the subject of the post an pointed out to others you started the post, I do however want you to stop replying to general banter / football posts with Same stuff, the board have also just released a statement tonight, I’m suspect you’ll have something to say on it, and as we know your views, you absolutely should have something to say and I’m sure others will engage back,

But when baur signs, going to no say something like “cheap option so board can sell Engels or shoulda paid the doh 2 weeks ago, etc etc “ I think u know my point by now.

29 Jul 2026 21:17:29
??????.

{Ed007's Note - ??

29 Jul 2026 21:46:52
@greentree - why are you misrepresenting what I said? I did not say nothing happened. I merely pointed out that the reason given by the board, I. e. an assault on a steward and police officer has not been. backed up with evidence. Sadly the board have a history of lying in order to ban the green brigade.

Out of interest, what are your views on the board making up lies against its own fans and banning them for made up reasons? Also why are a whole section of hundreds of fans banned for the alleged action of a small minority?

28 Jul 2026 19:36:44
I am delighted this evening that we have officially signed Hogh. 54 goals and 22 assists in 103 games for Bodo. 76 goal involvements in 103 matches. 5 goals in the Champions league and scoring against Man City, Athletico Madrid and Inter.

We have signed two forwards that score 10 goals between them in the Champions league last year. Paying approximately £17M revamping our striking options. Its a good day and hopefully there is more to come.

Agree8 Disagree0

28 Jul 2026 21:28:59
We have a net spend of just over 1 million. Hardly pushing the boat out here.

28 Jul 2026 21:52:48
Its a start Joe.

28 Jul 2026 22:04:58
Joe, even you must admit that they are 2 very good players that we have spent good money on, whether or not our net spend is large or small.

It will be the end of the window where we can make a real judgement on whether it has been successful or not or after the CL qualifier but its a decent start, that is all it is.

28 Jul 2026 22:08:44
Come on Joe, even with a net spend we have improved the striking department 10 fold.

I’m a critic of the calibre of player at Celtic but even I’m happy with the new forward line.

Just need the GK, Defence and Midfield to improve now ?.

28 Jul 2026 22:30:44
I second that Bish1888.

If we can turn this window into a real success, in terms of the calibre of the players signed, we could and should be out of sight for years to come.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 23:26:59
I would be more than happy if we came out of every transfer window with a net spend of £0 or even making a profit of some kind as long as we were spending wisely.
I am in no way a board apologist or a happy clapper but we have sold Palma, Rocky, Maeda and Inamura and brought in Duran and Hogh.

That's outstanding business, we just need to make sure it carries on with quality players coming in.

28 Jul 2026 23:34:43
We will need to wait and see if they are good players for us and can handle the pressure of playing for Celtic.

All I know is there are still deficiencies in our team and competitive games are fast approaching. Once again our board move at a snail's pace in the transfer market and I hope the fans keep up the pressure on them on flag day.

29 Jul 2026 01:17:07
I agree but to think some is happy for trusty and cv to leave and keep hold of scales (whom I think has improved massively) is a bit blind, Celtic dished out goals cl and Europa but we are happy with strikers being bought although I think them signing is great, but the strikers are 1 to 2 Yr too late.

29 Jul 2026 03:11:53
Joe, seriously the negativity you bring is unbelievable, though a long time watcher i only joined this the other day and everything I read you saying is that of a depressed person, are you okay? Do you have transfer window PTSD. This year will be different, back the team on and off the pitch as something special is happening.

Let me fill you in green bottles.

Last season was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Two more failed transfer windows. Failure to strengthen despite being the richest we have ever been. The appointment of Wilfried Nancy. Banning the fans on a made up charge because they were rightly calling the board out. Verbal attacks on fans at the AGM. Refusing to communicate with fans.

Later in the season, I had had enough and stopped watching the team and made the decision that I would never be back and I would never give the club any more money, while the Desmond's were still there. If you want to forgive them, then that is your choice but I won't be doing the same.

29 Jul 2026 06:55:46
Joe I’m no sure if it’s deliberate negativity or pessimism, your not wrong that net spend isn’t much, but we know club are looking to strengthen elsewhere (not just because someone will be sold) and money in bank or not net spend isn’t important, what’s on park is. Your spot on wether there good for us or not but that’s Same for any player bought in any window, so unsure why signing 2 players in a position we need players that have shown they can score at highest level is anything other than great work by club, they could spend another 30 million on 5 players and you’ll point out it doesn’t count because we’ve sold 40 mill worth, the narrative is changing positive and your constant, it’s not blind positivity Joe people know what’s needed, it’s correctly positive, club could go get top scorer in some league far far away never played in Europe etc for fraction of cost and take a punt, it’s clear here with these 2 forwards and with other targets that there’s a conscious effort to get what’s needed, I honestly can’t wait to end of window to we discuss the squad, it won’t be perfect so I’m sure you’ll have something negative to cling onto, after that it will be interesting to see what negative narrative you push going forward, wether you actually watch Celtic games or not, wether you continue your tirade of anti board rhetoric (which is your opinion but pushed and flushed onto all of us in reply to posts about who’s in goal or what the score was at the weekend instead of posts on that subject, which dwindled towards end last season hence you had no choice to hijack football discussions, suppose reading about the board was your football as you don’t watch Celtic just talk about them ) usually I’d apologise as I know this is reactive and mostly is in reply to your posts, but it’s in other posts too that you just can’t help yourself, so no apologies, your opinion is as valid as anyone’s and definitely as much as mine but I’m calling your bs out, in a work place your called a mood hoover, in a friends group your the ever pessimist as a stranger your a grumpy old git, as a Celtic fan ……no sure you seem blinded by hate.

29 Jul 2026 07:30:44
I agree with the fact that we are gradually reshaping the squad by moving on stars like Maeda who wanted out and others who were stinking the place out.

Duran, Hogh and Baur if it is indeed completed seem to be very decent players.

The money we get for Kenny will pay for most of the Baur deal.

Wingers are hopefully next, along with Keeper and LB ( not Taylor please ) .

29 Jul 2026 09:33:13
Joe Hogh is the real deal at least admit that have a look at his cv, and Duran on the outings so far looks the part.

29 Jul 2026 10:14:41
I am not saying the 2 signings are not good signings Mally. I was merely pointing out that we have a very low net spend and that it is too soon to judge if they will be good signings for us.

As ed pointed out, there has been times where he thought someone would be a great signing but they flopped and other times where he thought someone would flop but we're great. The sensible thing to do is wait and see and then judge.

29 Jul 2026 11:24:53
Joe since “the sensible thing to do is to wait and see and then judge. ” The same is to be said about pushing the boat out or the net spend. Which would leave an empty forum with nothing to discuss.

Breaking our transfer record on a proven CL goal scorer is a statement signing. The club have brought in a player most of us were desperate to sign.

The window won’t be judged on this transfer alone. There is still 35 days left to sign the quality required. Come September 3rd we can assess whether they have had a successful window.

29 Jul 2026 11:41:06
The board making a statement signing is like someone cheating on their missus and then thinking buying them an expensive gift makes up for past indiscretions.

29 Jul 2026 13:49:38
There is many a change required at our club. I for one want changes in how we are controlled and ran as a club. Our football department to be modernised with the right expertise making the decisions. We are all p*ssed off.

Only time will tell if true changes are afoot. But when positive things are happening at the club they should also be celebrated just as the negative actions should be criticised.

You have an inability to differentiate the differences at the moment with a glass is empty attitude, never mind half empty. Your previous posts before this time were enjoyable and interesting to read.

We are not happy clapping, just celebrating the wins as they come. Life is not black or white, a mix of positives and negatives make up every situation.

29 Jul 2026 14:04:27
WeeJoe, I for one am buzzing for the hogh signing, and in my humble opinion every single Celtic fan should be the same. This is the best signing we have had in 4 years, if not longer. This is a guy who we have all watched, know and pipe dreamed we cld sign, and we have. let's be happy and proud we have finally got the forward we have all been carving for, bin the negativity for tomorrow or another day.

Loads of time left in window, but the board have signed 2 quality players, other teams are filling squad up with quantity we are adding quality. I know what team i'd rather be with, do you? hh.

29 Jul 2026 14:10:23
Joe that’s utter nonsense, it is a statement signing, it’s what’s needed, they’ve paid premium and my understanding is they tried in Jan for player so something that most think is an amazing signing and right signing they tried to do in Jan but player and club didn’t want it, the same Jan you are holding club to account as a failure, this signing and history to it alone shows you it’s not as cut and dry as the club didn’t sign a striker in Jan etc,

No debate the guy doing deals seems more than suspect etc but sometimes it’s better to say nothing at all,

29 Jul 2026 15:12:37
@sosbhoy - there is much we probably agree on but where we differ is you are prepared to see if things improve but I no longer care. I just want them gone.

@jhim - I am glad you are happy with the. signings and in no way am I saying you should share my views. However, I have been tipped over the edge by Desmond and his cronies and nothing else matters to me now, I just want them gone.

@jaa - you say that is utter nonsense. Could you elaborate what part please and I will gladly respond.

29 Jul 2026 16:03:22
Cheating on missus and buying an expensive gift, was poor analogy (so I called it nonsense ) I did however understand your point so explained why regardless of any situation at club hogh is a statement signing.

29 Jul 2026 16:04:01
Also don’t need a reply as promised as I won’t agree with u. I only gave u one because u asked.

29 Jul 2026 17:44:28
You've completely missed the point of the analogy. Nobody is saying signing Kasper Høgh is the equivalent of cheating. The "cheating" represents the board's previous failings, and the £11 million signing is the "expensive gift". The point is that one big gesture doesn't automatically wipe away everything that came before it.

Høgh can be an excellent signing and still not erase fans' frustrations over previous transfer windows and how the board acted last season. The analogy is about trying to buy back goodwill, not about the player himself.

29 Jul 2026 21:58:02
Wee Joe, only thing is with your statements is u seem to want them gone more than you want to support your team. In my eyes I will support Celtic till the day I die wholeheartedly, and nobody will change that, not opinions from others, my team losing 100 games in a row or the board who are temporary custodians, do I like some of the things they have done, no, but fair is fair they have given us 14 out of 15 league titles, n numerous trebles, and the best signing we have made in years, is all forgiven no, but if they can sign a few others by time window is closed, I will feel they have made up for some of there wrong doings like they said they would.

Only time will tell hh.

29 Jul 2026 23:26:12
Jhim you are correct I do want them gone more than anything at the moment and I refuse to give them a single penny of my money.

28 Jul 2026 18:48:54
Matin O'Neill arrived at Celtic on the 1st June 2000. Before he arrived he was an active manager and probably very aware of what was on the market and what was available.

MONs first signings were as follows:

Chris Sutton 11th July 2000
Joos Valgaeren 28th July 2000
Alan Thompson 1st September 2000
Didier Agathe September 2000
Neil Lennon 8th December 2000

None instant signings, and there was no 48 team World Cup going on.

Come June 2026, MON signs a permanent contract but hasn't been in close touch with current player availability (argue about that all you want) . He'll get there!

So why is everyone flapping. As Oddball says, "Enough with the negative waves, have a little faith".

PS. Should there be an award for the 1st negative wave?

Thats true AP, I think its just the fact we are 1 week away from season starting and we've spent 2m so far after what we have sold, not enough bodies in with what we glaring need, this week is huge we need to get off to a flyer domestically and CL qualifiers.

28 Jul 2026 20:12:54
I don’t know why I always thought that Valgaeren was Martin’s first Celtic signing after watching him at the Euros as a pundit.

28 Jul 2026 20:52:43
You may be prepared to forgive the board but many of us have had enough of them.

In my eyes, they are only making some high profile signings to try and get people back on board but it is too little, too late.

They told us they would improve communication but it anything it has actually gotten worse. They told us they had learned lessons but yet here we are again with major deficiencies in our first team heading into the most important, financial game of our season.

They showed no ambition, a complete lack of foresight and a reluctance to modernise by appointing Martin O'Neill. It is time for Desmond and his antiquated board to depart and let someone else take the reigns.

28 Jul 2026 21:24:56
Do you not like the Board Joe? You should have said.

28 Jul 2026 21:30:35
None of the collective, s goals have been met. The club still needs modernisation on and off the park from top to bottom or all of the issues will keep recurring. A couple of signings has changed nothing. This small minded cabal needs removing, the sooner they’re gone, we can start to progress as the football club we should be aspiring to be.

28 Jul 2026 22:44:53
I, and I'm sure many, don't disagree with your points regards the board Weejoe, 100%.

What I'm choosing to do is focus on the club signing, what I perceive to be, better players than those that have been in the starting 11 in recent times - particularly last season.

We could sign Mbappe and Messi by Friday lunchtime and this board and its abentee landlord, will still be a shower of s. hoite and require to be replaced.

In the meantime I'll take any and all positives going because at the end of the day, Celtic FC is bigger than any individual and will be here long after DD is in the ground.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 23:29:47
I will never forget meeting velgaerean and few Celtic lads in malahide. Ended up drinking in my parents house before going to city. Typical irish mother wanted to make sandwiches before pints, it was 12.30 on an Tuesday night.
Drinking in sitting room while mother made sure we had food before drink. Pictures will always be cherished. True legends.
Tommy Byod and big joos.

28 Jul 2026 23:38:45
That is your choice Pedro but I have had enough and there is nothing they can do to get me back on side. For that reason I will continue to be hyper critical of everything they do and won't rest until they are gone.

29 Jul 2026 03:16:51
Buzz, O’Neill was a pundit in the studio during the Euros and he definitely watch Valgaeren during one of the matches, I’m sure it was the Sweden game as he was asked by Lineker what he thought of Mjallby and Larsson his new players., Mjallby scored in the game and as they say, the rest is history.

29 Jul 2026 11:40:17
Fair do's Weejoe.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 18:14:52
Kasper Hogh will be the new Celtic Number 9.
Leigh Griffiths has easily been our most prolific Number 9 to date since it became squad numbers.

Great wee interview he has just done, looks excited to be here, ready and eager to play, exactly what we want.
