Billy McNeil, 29 caps, Jimmy Johnstone 23 caps, Grant Hanley 70 caps! The Lions had a combined total of 114 caps which is scandalous and symptomatic of selection "criteria " then.

{Ed007's Note - I do get what you mean, Chinks but there was a lot less international games back then. In the 60s and 70s, Scotland would commonly play only about 5-8 full internationals in a calendar year, although World Cup years or years with tours could push it towards 9-10.
Joe Jordan played every year from 1973-1982 and has 52 caps, apart from 74 and 78 which were WC years he was getting 4/5 caps a year.
But when it comes to McNeill - and other Celtic players - there was definite anti-Celtic bias shown by the committee that chose the squad/team.}

You can add wee Jinky to that number as Henderson was picked twice as often as the Celtic player
Then a few years later Danny McGrain was overlooked for Jardine.

ha ha my auld memory I was meaning he never got picked in his natural RB because of Jardine, and good as he was LB never suited him.

{Ed007's Note - McGrain and Jardine were voted the 2 best full-backs at the 1974 World Cup and most older Celtic fans tell me that McGrain was just as good at LB as he was at RB, I'm some of the other older guys will have an opinion on it.
When you dig deeper into the numbers in fact, McGrain & Jardine played together 19 times for Scotland - and one of them was McGrain starting at RB and Jardine coming on to replace Willie Johnston - so I'd hazard a guess that apart from a couple of games when George Burley and Alex Forsyth got caps that McGrain played the majority of his 62 games for Scotland at RB.}

Seen an article about a meeting between the collection and club only no actual directors there only the fans liason officer. They have created a fans group hand picked to represent fans instead of the collective.

On the subject of what the endgame is for this board, what if where we are now is the endgame? What if the board have been psychologically beating us into submission over a period of time? A sort of battered wife scenario, one of total controlling coercive behaviour where after long periods of abuse they buy you a present or promise things will be better before the next cycle of abuse begins.

If you look at how some of the support look longingly at ‘the next window’ it’s an easy comparison to make. The clubs media lackies have already started with the revisiting the Gineitis kaka. Maybe they will but AJ or Nygren would be sold to cover it…. before the next cycle of abuse starts.

Johnston and Nygren will be looking to get out now when their stock is high. That’s the reality of the situation.

I appreciate Johnston is a brilliant player but even when he’s been out injured young Donovan has stepped up and has been arguably our best player so far this season.

I still look at it like this. We bought 6 players in the last 48 hours of the window. A few that were meant to be starters for us. They’ve not had time to bed in and this 3 week break will come as such a benefit to the overall squad.


Again the lack of foresight from the board is the issue here and getting deals done earlier. Appreciate there are other underlying factors but we go chasing players for months and only get it done at the end of the window. I reckon we will go on a decent run when we return from IB.

What's happening or more to the point, is not happening at our club pales into insignificance to those suffering domestic abuse. On a football level we can make choices. Do I buy a ST or not? Do I detach myself emotionally from Celtic or not?
For me there's more to life than Celtic but I realise for some, Celtic is their life.


But aye, they're sucking the life out of the club. A club whose fans over history have breathed a passion for all things Celtic but sadly where apathy is king. Even the atmosphere at derby games is zilch. That's not on the fans. That's on DD and his yes men.

Nygren is a goal machine, we just need to hope his performance's improve, like a few others in the team, hopefully getting Johnston, Jota, Osmand and Yang back will give us a boost in coming weeks, though I see Yang is meant to be carrying a hamstring injury.

Nygren is top of the goals and assist stats in the league.

Nygren has a few poor games and is lynched yet nothing said about Captain Liability, the worst player at Celtic.

I've been critical of mcgregor he's been awful this season and looks done, nygren scores great goals out of nothing but he needs to be in the right team, right now our midfield isn't strong enough to allow him to swan about he contributes nothing we need better midfielders to allow him to play the way he likes.

Did sevco win the keague last week? I'm sure they must have. It's nice when wee teams get all excited and start chat about winning the league etc once thèy win a couple if games. Its the hope that kills them. They have won a few games, wait until they lose a few. Only a few weeks back they got pumped out of 2 Euro tournaments. We will improve and I will be interested in our lineup after the break.

If you had enough beds in a room and laid each member of the Board down and had a herd of psychiatrists, psychotherapists and football therapists drumming into them the philosophies and benefits of getting players in at the beginning of the transfer windows would they listen and then think that it's a good idea? Tried that and it doesn't work either stengo lol even showed them how mental health input from performance to everyday input would be beneficial. The best practice is still Ac Milan psych stuff from the early 90s Bruno demichelis is a really good guy to check out if anyone is interested in that type of thing. It's madness we don't have that in place.

The main reason they don't get a chance us they are not good enough. Iur academy produces players for the Dundee's of this world. With every 10 or 12 years we get a KT. who was the last player who came through young and made the position his. And apart from Doakes of all the "stars" who never got a chance and left, not one has done anything.

Its a complete waste of time and money. Produces eff all. Donovan is the only player since KT to get regular game time and that is only because AJ is crocked. Its like the whole clib a total underperforming shambles.
