I was thinking about players we have had that never could make it at Celtic but went on to be solid players elsewhere and in higher divisions.
Oh - was the example last night scoring the winning goal for South Korea. Been linked with big money moves and proving to be a solid asset to the teams he has played for after Celtic. Always felt he had raw ability that we just couldn’t harness.
Do you think the issue is directly with the player and the expectations required to play for Celtic? That including the horrible way some players are treated when they miss one chance or have a bad game?
Do you think it’s anything to do with Celtic’ lack of planning and low quality development strategy?
Or is it a combination of both?

In Oh's case, I think it was because he was so young and inexperienced. The potential was there but we don't keep them long enough to develop as we need "oven ready" players to win vast majority of games.
We are guilty of moving players on without giving them a proper chance and Inamura could prove to be another example of that. This strategy of sticking to one system, using the same players week in week out, (regardless of form) also doesn't help us retain our most promising youngsters.
Using different systems and personnel, designed to be effective against the set up of the opposition we're facing, would result in better squad rotation, handling of injuries, development and retention of talent. The added bonus would making us less predictable and more difficult to know how to set up and defend against us.
12 Jun 2026 15:10:54
With Oh it was the case BR didn't sign him so he sat in the bench. He us quick strong and has an eye for goal. I really believe we missed a trick with him. He is better than most who replaced him.
I have said many times, had he and a few others been given a real chance they could have made a good impression.
12 Jun 2026 15:28:13
I think Rodgers dropped the ball with Oh, he was too keen to cut him loose. We should have had him put on loan in the league to see how he fared. Wish we had him last season. Hope we don't make same mistake with Kenny, I think there's a player in there.
12 Jun 2026 16:53:56
Kenny will never be any better than league 1 in England that’s his level at his best.
There is enough mediocre players at Celtic that need moved on and he is near the top of that list.
12 Jun 2026 17:39:06
Kenny has just turned 23, his best years are to come. He has both height and pace, attributes which cannot be coached.
With experience and the right coaching I'm confident his all round game and especially his composure in front of goal will improve.
12 Jun 2026 19:58:40
Osmand has more to his game and he’s barely even played.
Kenny had his chances and proved he hasn’t got it to be a striker at Celtic.
12 Jun 2026 22:46:21
Kenny has pace and most importantly can put in a good cross, take the burden of him being main striker and am saying this now he will be a good winger.

Noted that the Big Oh scored for South Korea last night. A few of us on here felt he had something to offer Celtic. Perhaps should have given him another year in Paradise.
Strong, determined and put in the work.

Big Oh! just tried too hard.
12 Jun 2026 12:44:41
I was one of them always thought there was a player there.
12 Jun 2026 13:14:08
I liked the lad and thought he had bags of talent but unfortunately just tried too hard and it affected his game. I remember walking up to Paradise with a young Korean guy who spoke perfect English and we chatted about Oh. The boy said he was a massive fan and wasn't showing his best when he played for us.
His opinion was that the noise that the fans made slightly intimidated Oh!
Yet another player that just didn't seem to fit in at Celtic which was a real shame because he has scored some absolute belters since leaving.
12 Jun 2026 05:32:08
Is sausage roll for the off.
And would the silent hiding mcinness make the move, if you read some of our fan forums you think we came 2nd or 3rd sometimes, we are putting in place the jigsaw pieces required and too slowly for some yet our rivals seem to manage themselves into a worse hole continuously, with 8 players at wc, and several still injured, alongside several loanee leavers the squad needs movement pretty rapid, will be an interesting 2-4 weeks,

Bad news all round a was warming to him.
12 Jun 2026 11:05:51
Sad he's gone. Just look forward to the banter from their next Managerial genius.
We can mock them but their board don't try and stiff their coaches like ours seem to be doing.
Thank you for saving our a***s last season but here's a kick in the b***s.
12 Jun 2026 11:20:12
Rohl is decent. Wouldn’t have minded him at Celtic this season, on balance. He’d be a loss to them, and any replacement has a middling chance of being incompetent.
12 Jun 2026 11:51:07
Once the Celtic fans start singing your name? You know its over ? just like Andy halliday before him ??? is it true they have removed simply the best from the playlist too?
12 Jun 2026 12:36:21
Very poor manager. Even the sevco fans don't want him.
12 Jun 2026 12:46:21
His record at sevco was appalling embarrassed in Europe papped out the cups and finished 3rd in the league.
12 Jun 2026 15:13:41
He was p**h, liked his own voice too much. Imagine being 37 and trying to give MON coaching advice.
He would never have succeeded with the squad MON inherited.
11 Jun 2026 19:27:37
We get fined 10k by spl for crowd invasion and use of pyros a few other clubs fined as well but not sevco, you couldn't make it up.

Just reading on BBC website Brian Wilson's comments on the last game, to be fair, he hits the mark, without bringing up sevco fans behaviour in the semi- final.
11 Jun 2026 09:56:06
Ed, any news on what the collective are up to/ planning? Clearly the belligerent A wipes running this club just see things as business as usual.
{Ed007's Note - I've uploaded the latest from them in that section mate - sorry I forgot all about it yesterday.}

Thanks Ed, good to know. Even the last few weeks make it clear that the people running this club at present, need to be gone.

What would be the opinion of mon if the board don't sign the backroom staff and he doesn't walk with them.

Hi just seen it on the official Celtic app that MON has now been confirmed, can we all now get behind the man and hope this board give the Legend the funds needed and which he deserves.
11 Jun 2026 12:11:55
It’s announced so will never know, but as usual the club’s embarrassed itself first.
I would hold him in an even higher regard if he did.
11 Jun 2026 13:55:10
Hopefully the article by McGowan had the desired effect to stop pisding about, seems negotiated tactics must use a template. Starting with ridiculous moving towards your joking just to get you to agree to the sane or lesser terms by wearing you out. That's only if they don't piss you off completely on route.
11 Jun 2026 13:56:09
Announced With the whole backroom staff or just mon.
11 Jun 2026 11:43:37
If to be believed we have offered maloney and fozzy substantial wage cuts, what the feck is going on this has to be mince surely why ask Martin and then mess his coaches about, got to be a joke.

11 Jun 2026 12:13:59
If that's what we do with our own staff its no wonder they can't sign players!
11 Jun 2026 13:36:59
I'm confident MONs support team contracts will be agreed and concluded to the satisfaction of the employees. MON will not suffer any unnecessary financial quibbles upsetting his plans right at the outset of his new reign.
11 Jun 2026 10:56:49
Surely this Celtic board can't actually be planning ahead. McKenna resigns from Ipswich, has a year out. MON continues this season then McKenna takes over start of next season with no compensation to be paid? Nah.

11 Jun 2026 11:34:17
Next season they will think we have all forgotten about RK and slide him in under the back door.
11 Jun 2026 11:36:22
Your right NAH.
11 Jun 2026 11:47:23
It’s the Celtic way, not spending money. I think if that’s the case then are we going to spend big this year?
11 Jun 2026 10:48:02
Stephen McGowan from the Herald was given the Exclusive that Martin O’Neill would be the new permanent Manager of Celtic last Friday.
Today he has given an update.
Celtic have still to agree terms with Shaun Maloney and Mark Fortheringham on new deals and he added the figures were a distance apart.
Typical of the Celtic Board wanting everything on the cheap but then wanting top dollar when it’s the other way about.
Negotiations is one thing but then Celtic constantly Embarrassing Themselves is another thing altogether.

Doesn’t bode well for a rebuild when they are penny pinching here.
11 Jun 2026 11:28:08
These people are averse to embarrassment. they've got a coaching staff in place already on the cheap and want to haggle down more. rats.
11 Jun 2026 11:28:16
Buzz just read that myself
This current Board just plums lower and lower
These two coaches helped us win a double, treat them with respect and pay them the going rate.
11 Jun 2026 11:35:40
World class in everything apart from wages, signings, football structure, strategy and fan engagement.
11 Jun 2026 11:54:55
See various sites now reporting its as much as 50% lesser terms than last season? Surely the backroom staff continue on regardless of the manager ? Thought maloney was offered a new role before oniel was announced?
Even seen 1 site claiming oniel accepted 35% less than last season.
Surely this is a joke? And clickbait nonsense?
11 Jun 2026 11:51:27
Ed
You reckon there's any truth in this. Seems bizarre even for our plc.
{Ed007's Note - No, I don't believe a word of it.}
11 Jun 2026 14:23:35
That will be clickbait by sevvie fans and sevvie media.
11 Jun 2026 18:03:26
If they want to save money for the club, why don’t the entire board resign. They won’t be feckin missed!
11 Jun 2026 19:01:01
Not at all surprised. I posted yesterday that I had a feeling there was a blocker of sorts and that the Board were to blame. They really are a shambles and there is no way that Maloney and Fozz are asking for anything ridiculous. There time is well and truly up. Mass protests of sorts (not sure what) required to force their hand.
11 Jun 2026 10:33:41
Evening times reporting that the delay in announcing MON is due to not having yet agreed terms with Maloney and Fotheringham.

Just watched this game again (could not sleep)
I forgot what an atmosphere our away fans create
I was actually at this game and could not believe it when we all heard Dundee had scored 2 goals
Watching video back also when I heard our fans singing Judas name with such gusto, how things changed.

Judas finished off one of the best team goals I’ve seen in that match.
