The talk of us being interested in the Italian winger, Cancellieri, if Lazio value him at €15M, for me is a non starter.

If we get Hassan, him and Duran would be our starting wingers.

With the other players already at the club, funds could be spent better in other positions given we need a good few quality players through the door.

We were spending £7m on NL and Sutton 25 years ago and since then transfer fees have gone crazy. We absolutely should be shopping in the £12m - £15m bracket. Do that and we will compete in the CL.

28 Jul 2026 19:49:57
For that type of fee, his goals and assists aren't that encouraging, not to say he wouldn't have an impact but 142 games, 13 goals and 4 assists doesn't seem to be great value, never really seen him play.

28 Jul 2026 16:50:03
Just read that we have had an offer to sign 20 year old defender, Benjamin Arthur, on a permanent deal knocked back by his club, Brentford.

If this story is accurate it means we're in the market for defenders, is one or more of our own leaving the club?

HH.

28 Jul 2026 18:09:54
Whether any are leaving or not doesn't really matter. We desperately need upgrades.

28 Jul 2026 20:56:07
100% HT.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 21:43:43
From what a seen of him last year he wasn’t an upgrade, granted young and can improve especially with strength but we need at least 1 strong fast powerful CB in not a project.

28 Jul 2026 15:49:23
So, if the board don’t announce Hogh signing till after 5pm, do the save on a days wages? ?.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Jul 2026 17:17:48
They gave him a ticket for the overnight bus.

28 Jul 2026 15:47:41
Yesss yesss yesss, now wers that sock?.

28 Jul 2026 15:47:35
Brilliant.
Celtic officially confirmed at 3.30pm that Kasper Hogh has signed.

28 Jul 2026 16:00:13
Reminds me of that meme - "one moment later", only in this case it would be "18 months later".

28 Jul 2026 16:53:42
Like you Buzz Bomb, I'm delighted by this signing - this player is capable of getting the fans off their seats.

We've got the resources so I'm hoping another 4 or 5 quality signings are in the pipeline, starting with Baur and Hassan.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 18:23:23
Feck Celtic its hour's since we signed someone. Get the finger out.

28 Jul 2026 09:07:23
Vidar riseth saying hogh is worth 22 million. so I say buy patrick berg with the 11 million we saved.

Agree12 Disagree0

28 Jul 2026 10:02:02
Throw Bjorkan in while we are at it.

28 Jul 2026 10:33:05
Berg is exactly the midfielder we need, still would like a big Wanyama type player as well.

28 Jul 2026 12:00:34
Very good DRB4,

although I think even, if/ when, Baur signs, we still need an additional MF signed as we're destined to lose Hatate and our bench is non existent.

Berg is a very good player and would be great in the side that I hope we're building.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 12:20:01
Your right ken good solid full back.

28 Jul 2026 12:37:40
Having done a wee bit of 'research' on Berg, it suggests that his fee from Lens back to Bodo was around €4M euros, even if he was valued at double that, personally I'd throw in an offer for him to test the water.

We could have a nett spend of €35M by the end of this window along with Engels still at Celtic Park and a very strong first 15 players, knowing that spend can be wiped that out with CL qualification.

Specualate to accumulate.

HH.

28 Jul 2026 19:13:05
I'd go for his team mate Jens Petter Hauge, left sided midfielder n a player, scores goals too.

29 Jul 2026 07:59:35
Big Jan, and Patrik Berg who is exactly the type of defensive midfielder we need, and may as well through in left back Fredrik Biorkan for good measure.

28 Jul 2026 07:24:13
Who sanctioned 4.5 million for balikwisha and gave him a 5 year deal?

I remember looking into his injury record before he came and on that alone I pointed out we should stay well clear. Not to mention the fact that he had shown no signs of being able to recapture previous form after his most recent long term injury.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jul 2026 08:53:59
Think Tisdale had a big say in that. A watched dome of his clips on YouTube and as we all know they usually dhow only the favourable 1s and a couldn't see any good 1s. av done the same with Hassan and not many to write home about, if he signs hope turns out to be good for us.

28 Jul 2026 09:56:59
Brendan.

28 Jul 2026 11:10:00
I said at the time Balikwisha was no better than Palma, who was deemed not good enough.

Just another panic buy disaster from our incompetent BoD. We're going to hugely regret not buying Elijah Just in January too.

28 Jul 2026 11:14:05
He was on our radar long before Tisdale debacle. Think it's a brown envelope job ?.

27 Jul 2026 19:59:50
Hogh is great signing on face of it, we are also getting a player who’s season is underway, something that only just occurred to me, our starting line up could look great next Monday, work to do obv but there’s been a clear shift from negativity to positivity with this signing, hope we see the ambition continue ( ambition wrong word backing for Mon maybe better way to describe ) Duran looking the part has also really helped the situation and obv the situation that outwith maeda no one else from fist team has been sold.

Agree8 Disagree0

27 Jul 2026 20:27:16
Has he signed yet?

{Ed007's Note - Yep, all done and dusted and should be announced tomorrow.}

27 Jul 2026 21:01:09
Could be a problem after Christmas, as he could tire without a break.

27 Jul 2026 21:06:54
Brilliant signing, and even better his name rhymes with 10 in a row?.

{Ed007's Note - It doesn't lol it's pronounced "Hoy".....

27 Jul 2026 21:07:13
We now have a quality set of strikers.

Still need better CB’s and CM’s but as you say it’s positive. Hopefully a change in formation as well.

Now looking forward to the Dundee game ?.

27 Jul 2026 21:45:02
If Hassan comes in, a front 3 of Duran, Hassan and Hogh, will be a handful for a lot of teams.

Baur hopefully in the midfield with Engels, Nygren, Calmac to choose from.

Cover at LB, RB, CB and GK and we could have the bones of a side to really look forward to.

Still players like Hatate and one or two others to leave with plenty in the pot to make this window a success story.

HH.

27 Jul 2026 23:38:32
I remember Maeda never had a break for 18 months when he joined Celtic because he played at the Olympics after the Japanese season finished.
Hogh hasn’t had a break since October 2024 when he was out for one month injured and that’s due to Bodo Glimt’s success in Europe in the last couple of seasons after the Norwegian campaigns finished.

27 Jul 2026 23:55:36
Weejoe. There's something really wrong with you mate. Every post is so depressing. Do you need help?

28 Jul 2026 08:12:39
Even with Hogh we are severely unprepared for new season. Folk saying we will have a good team. Just don't see it squad is very poor.

28 Jul 2026 10:01:52
I think starting team will look good, don’t think anyone believes squad is good,

For me
Yang is decent and getting better but a rw needed
In centre park Nygren I’d drive to airport if an offer comes in (just I feel would have been great alternative, missed opportunity) in his defence managers seem to like him and they know better than me
Engels we need to replace if goes
Reo replace when goes, there’s no additional quality as an alternative so should regardless of these ones going we be looking at another player for midfield especially no 10 type.
Need gk
Need a cb if one leaves and arguably even if one doesn’t.
Oh need kt cover too.

So while happy we now have strikers and happy that our team shoukd be fine to start league under no illusions we still need more.

28 Jul 2026 10:35:16
Agree Jaa more is needed.

Strikers that can bury chances will certainly help in the beginning with the nice easy start we have.

28 Jul 2026 15:03:49
When Calmac was in the Scotland team he never had a decent break for 3 seasons, Hogh will be fine.

27 Jul 2026 18:39:58
If it's true the Baur deal is off/ stalled over £500k or thereabouts it sums up MN. And why o why can we sell players pronto but take an age to get anything over the line. So much for getting players in early to integrate them into the squad. Gambling with CL qualification yet again and we know how that ended previously.

Agree4 Disagree0

27 Jul 2026 19:42:04
. and the selling of players quick smart rubbishs the nonsense delays the board says working wirh agents causes. We cause the delays. The end.

27 Jul 2026 19:47:28
I don't think the Baur deal is off Chinks, I think his club are playing hardball (and rightly so) . If the defecit is only £500K or so, I'd like to think we'll get this over the line before other clubs get a sniff.

I agree with you though re how protracted our transfer dealings, when buying players, seems to be.

Perhaps if the talks for some of the players we're in for weren't leaked, it would be a little easier as a supporter.

HH.

27 Jul 2026 19:50:18
I have a feeling that’s not the case. I bet it’s to do with the structure of the deal and add ons.

Just a guess.

27 Jul 2026 20:13:41
I always worry that every time we do this - and it happens often - we lose out to other more efficient and proficient clubs. There's also the possibility of self-satisfaction and arrogance after the amount paid in the Hogh deal; ie: that's yer lot.

27 Jul 2026 23:01:04
How do you know we sell players quickly?

Is it not the case that the time you hear about a player to potentially leaving until when they actually leave is just short. However, that does not tell you how long negatiations have taken.

28 Jul 2026 06:25:05
Looks like his club rate him and for 4mill think they could use him over losing for nothing, Celtic just need to watch that other clubs don’t come calling on this one, if player wants to come then sometimes paying a bit more to convince that player shouldn’t be an issue, what I would say is perhaps his club had agreed an exit fee with agent that now went up, in those instances clubs like Celtic especially when reo and Engels still in building are maybe right playing waiting game.

Maybe let player force it a bit his side. I've a feeling Celtic took the 10 mil for Daizen not just out of respect for him but also because he was making all the noises that he wanted to go,

28 Jul 2026 13:41:00
Just read a post saying he’s pushing for move his side, he definitely reads my comments.

27 Jul 2026 14:20:30
Ed when Engles and Hatate (possibly Calmac) leave do you think we will get 3 midfielders brought in? I know previously you have said put Engles in calmacs position if he leaves.

{Ed007's Note - I've seen some stories saying Engels and AJ have agreed to stay until January but that's a bit odd imo I still expect AJ to leave in this window but I was told a week or so ago that we had offered Engels a new improved deal with an agreement he can leave next year (maybe for a preset sum? ?‍♂️?).
I expect if any of those 3 do go then they will be replaced yes.}

Agree1 Disagree4

27 Jul 2026 21:21:03
Would make sense. Qualify for the Champions league. Strut their stuff on the big stage then get the big money moves.

28 Jul 2026 06:29:01
Reo ones a weird one, he’s not got interest his level could get, thinking back to Ibrox where he was dropped but hauled us back into game with a great performance that was what we expected of him, to immediately fall out team next game I think and not contribute again, real fall from grace, fee we get will prob be nowhere near what he once could have got and to think this guy could trade us for a championship side is crazy, I think in Italian football he could shine.

27 Jul 2026 16:28:04
I would love to see Greg Taylor back at Celtic.
At times Celtic have missed him playing that inverted fullback role with that extra man in midfield, when we’ve struggled to break teams down.
Greg is also great for the dressing room with his determination to be a winner.

Agree5 Disagree0

27 Jul 2026 16:54:04
Absolutely not.

27 Jul 2026 16:58:04
Think he would be great in the holding midfield role given his tackling, ball carrying and how he can can read a game. He has landed here today.

27 Jul 2026 18:01:45
I was going to ask the question re back up at the LB position.

Taylor for me domestically, is fine, as he's proven, is he good enough if he has to step in at a higher level - not for me.

We've also just watched a player in Sarrachi, perform in that role when he was with us on loan last season, and he's a far better player than GT (IMO) .

As always, time will tell.

HH.

27 Jul 2026 18:09:12
Too small, we need bigger and more athletic players for the defensive side of things.

27 Jul 2026 18:49:42
Not a patch on Sarrachi, cheap option and imo would be a backward step. He was an average player, exposed badly in big games. Only bring back players who were "stars" 1st time and GT doesn't fit that role. Go back and pay whatever is required and get Sarrachi.

27 Jul 2026 19:17:05
100% take Taylor.

27 Jul 2026 19:55:11
If he’s needed for 15-20 mins per game, or play to rest kt in lesser games then he can do the job no doubt, will he impact a game, I’d say no and therefore I’d much prefer we look at a loan deal elsewhere, experienced or young n hungry with option to buy,

27 Jul 2026 20:56:10
I always liked Taylor and never understood the negativity about him. Don't think he should have ever been sold. That's not to say there isn't better out there though, so unsure about taking him back.

Bit of a lack of ambition and demonstrates the failures in the scouting system. Basically they have zilch, so they go back to the old trusty workhorse. But would he improve the team, at least domestically? Yes.

27 Jul 2026 21:39:28
100% I’d have him back, I wasn’t his greatest fan but we missed him stepping into midfield last season.

{Ed007's Note - I was a GT fan while he was here and backed him to the hilt but that ship has sailed imo, and how do you know MON/Maloney will be inverted fullbacks?
The guy took abuse every week from Celtic fans, why would he want to come back to that?

27 Jul 2026 23:10:07
It would eliminate the feel good factor from the striker signings and it was obvious that a lot of fans didn’t rate him.

He achieved very little in Greece.

Can see him returning for a hearts or Aberdeen as that’s his level at best.

We keep saying we want the board to have ambition. Taylor in a Celtic team alongside Scales and McCowan is frightening.
