On a couple of websites we are linked with the Turkish left back and Joe Gomez of Liverpool. Then today rumours of Chelsea and Munich looking at kt. I know he shot the rumours down but do you think the club are looking to sell kt. I sincerely hope not, I know possible cover is needed if izzy was to go but would a full international (turkey ) would be keen to come to sit on the bench

1.) 08 Jan 2017 22:24:17
A hope not mate, a doubt Rodgers would welcome any interest in kt. N he's a celtic diehard, he will go one day but not anytime soon hopefully. Fingers n toes crossed.

2.) 08 Jan 2017 22:33:58
I hope not but I think in most if not all clubs have a price for each player if they think its crazy money and if he would go I think it would happen but like you guys its just news papers trying to make up a story

First things first, we have to say congratulations to the team. Playing so many games in such a short space of time and coming out undefeated says so much about our side at the minute . Looking back at today though, for many times it looked like the defending from when Ronnie was in charge. Lost count of the amount of times the two centre backs let the ball bounce or let their forwards come through 10 yards to win the ball easily. Probably just tiredness and maybe a bit of complacency creeping in. Still all things said the bhoys have definitely earned their break, hopefully we will get a couple of decent players in Jan to help us push on again. Great effort, hail hail.

Forgive me Quinn1888, but so what? It's not the best footballer's book ever, but Paul Lambert told a story in his about how angry he'd been at Dortmund, despite them winning. Andreas Moller, no less, told him to forget it and move on. A win is a win, and I'll take 2-1 every week. Have a great Hogmanay with your family. HH.

2.) 31 Dec 2016 23:26:53
I'd take a win over that mob any day of the week, any way it comes just looking at a bit longer term, still think we could do with another top centre half. Heading towards the champions league qualifier.

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas. I was wondering, if we manage to go on and win the treble this year and smash the league by loads of points. Does anyone think br will start to get bored if there is no significant challenge next season and maybe look to head down south? ! The way we are looking at the minute and with investment over the next few windows we look like we will only get better. At the minute I'm really enjoying us playing and would love to see us go on and get 10 with br in charge. But someone, probably the Huns have to put a challenge into us for him to be kept interested.

Quinn1888

1.) 26 Dec 2016 10:20:26
BR's a young man Quinn and I think he'll be here for 10 in a row no question. He knows that will write him into the history books. He's also on record as saying it not about wining trophies or not winning them it's about coaching and developing players. No better infrastructure than Celtic have to do that. I think there's a bigger question there though about Scottish football sorting itself out in order that other clubs can mount a challenge. I think Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen etc. have that potential. Wouldn't bet on the Huns being around long enough to do it though 🍀.

2.) 26 Dec 2016 11:20:38
Taking his (potential) achievements at Celtic out if it, there is another factor: Liverpool.

Given he has already managed at the top end of the EPL, I don't think he'd leave for a middling team down there. In other words, unlike a lot of players/ managers who see Scotland as a stepping stone, he's already done it. Now, that's not to say he won't go to a European team, or even be offered another crack at the top end of the EPL - though a Man Utd fan, I'd have to ask, who is bigger than Liverpool that he'd (realistically) get?

And on the slim chance a top English/ European come for him, it'll be on the basis of huge (relative) success for us.

3.) 26 Dec 2016 14:19:10
I think Mr Rodgers speaks fluent Italian and Spanish so he may not be looking to the cess pool EPL.

4.) 26 Dec 2016 15:14:02
Quinn it's swings and roundabout and eventually we will be looking up at someone, let's keep our feet on the ground and just enjoy every trophy, every European campaign and every slap down we give the newcomers from govan as they come . it's a work in progress and we are not a great team yet, we are just the closest Scotland has to one, by a huge distance 😊.

Does anyone know of a replacement lined up for John park, after he left there was a couple of names bandied around but since then it's gone quiet.

Quinn1888

{Ed007's Note - Park's actual role is now defunct and the Club are overhauling the scouting/recruitment so I don't think there will be a direct Park replacement,}

1.) 10 Dec 2016 07:31:57
Park for me, was masquerading as a Director of Football. With BR being his own man, and previously expressing disproval at working under a role, I don't think we'll see one. A technical director? More likely, but between the expertise of people like Driscoll, McGuinness, McCart and Naylor, we could have those bases covered to a level that is already satisfactory for BR. We'll obviously see in the coming months how much he sees McGuiness and McCart as part of his set up. It's easy to get mixed up between titles and roles though. My guess would that we'll see a new head scout soon enough.

09 Dec 2016 21:04:38
Nearly an hour in, 3-0 up. 10 players from last seasons side playing and we are in total control again. Either players had downed tools, or poor coaching, or maybe both. Either way I'm so glad we have Rodgers in charge at the minute. It looks like we are only going to get stronger, it's up to the rest of the league to do something or else we are just going to steam roller teams all season and next. It's good to be a Tim at the minute.

Quinn1888

1.) 09 Dec 2016 22:21:00
Players don't down tools, good managers don't allow it.

2.) 10 Dec 2016 15:02:44
So how do u explain it super hero Gordon then? I assume he never had the tools to down n the 1st place? cost us the lead against city n easily could have saw red again last night and he cost Rd a treble in his 1st season but it's OK rayman can't stand Rd n will always be that bitter against the man despite celebrating the double under rd, u do realise that double standards, me I celebrate any trophies won n back the manager, whoever it is 100%, faithful thru n thru, u might want to read up on it instead of going on the sevco site to slag them off.
Hail hail.

While he has been unfortunate to get injured and lose his place it seems lg is picking up little strains and illnesses to stop him making the bench lately. If possibly he has the hump and could maybe see opportunities elsewhere I'd be surprised if we got anywhere near 2 million for him.

Does anyone think this possible link with Rhodes could be a replacement for Leigh if he was thinking of parting or more to the point, br was thinking of parting him? As much as he done well for us and has obviously improved and settled down for us, I can't help but think when we come up against higher class defenders or teams he maybe looks like he struggles . What do people generally think?

The way br wants to improve the side, I can't see him standing still with players. If he thinks there is no more improvement any player could be replaced possibly.

Quinn1888

1.) 04 Dec 2016 13:02:37
No thank you I'd much rather have wee griff, don't particularly like Rhodes tho I suppose he has the potential to be a success but better the devil you kno.

2.) 04 Dec 2016 15:30:52
Rhodes does not have pace which is essential at the highest level. Would stick with Griffiths.

3.) 04 Dec 2016 15:40:06
I don't think many Celtic supporters are wanting to get rid of L G who had flu-like symptoms all week and so Brendan didn't want to risk him .
For what reason should any Celt encourage Leigh to think of moving.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 16:31:00
Who are the celts that are encouraging Leigh griffiths to leave old boy? None of the above posts have told him to leave plus I'd be very surprised if any of the players read these pages to gain an opinion on whether to stay at a club or not. It's a genuine question as he's gone from top scorer last year to second or third fiddle this season if you include Sinclair as an option. If people from the club read your posts we would probably still have Ronnie as our manager 👀.

5.) 04 Dec 2016 17:11:32
I'd be extremely disappointed if LG is allowed to leave. For (1) no LG last year no league title and (2) while Dembelle has been outstanding there is a question mark over how long he'll be here. Then where will we be. Surely it's a long and hard enough season to accommodate both? 🍀 PS: plus LG is the possibly the best Christmas elf we've ever had.

6.) 04 Dec 2016 18:31:43
I wouldn't disagree jfp about trying to keep him happy although it will be hard with the current way we play as a side as we only really go one up top. If say br rests dembele and Leigh comes in and scores a few goals he would understandably be unhappy to be dropped for dembele. But I really can't see him dropping dembele for a run of games at the minute . In saying that at least we aren't discussing trying to fit in garner, waghorn or that Ned miller 👍.

7.) 04 Dec 2016 19:27:34
This kind of tripe irks me. LG was one of the few success stories last year, He's really turned his game / life around. I just feel these types of rumours breed bad feeling.

I hope he stays and fights for his place. Why do we need to put a value on him, why does there have to be a 'fall out' story?

Players who want to leave as soon as their not first pick show bad attitude in my opinion.
Competition is good.

8.) 04 Dec 2016 20:21:42
Think Brendan, will change the system, and when LG is fit, will play Dembelle up with Griffiths playing just off him.

9.) 04 Dec 2016 20:23:35
What happened to Ciftci, did he go out on loan, or did he get sold.

10.) 04 Dec 2016 23:16:32
Think griff has more to his game does not have to be centre forward. could do a job on either wing.

11.) 04 Dec 2016 23:34:48
This talk of LG is incredible. He deserves to be in and around first eleven. He was dynamite pre injury and on form. I may be in a minority here but dembele press day after day and the 10 20 30 40 million is laughable. I like by MD but I remain of the view that he has chalked up many many many many unmerited minutes when his performances ( all round ) have been indifferent. Lag deserves ( when fit ) more minutes. Whether that is a top two or MD going off after 60 and not 84 minutes may be an idea?

Love where CFC are taking things at present

Delighted for Armstrong. Hopefully biton responds. Forest keeps going. Roberts coming back strong too. Sinclair and tierney reintroduced would be great!

Some already talking about targets and positions. i'd say three areas requiring upgrades. Goalkeeper ( maybe the lad at Dundee who I like very much and 24 ) and then another starting midfielder to ultimately replace brown out who can play alongside. A petrov type who can tackle as tackling ( softness ) still seems to be a potential weakness. I know McCarthy was mentioned but I wonder if he could play in a fast moving mobile team?

It's a good sign when you struggle to pick a position for upgrade. Surely?

4 goals in a half of football in any top league is impressive especially with a two goal handicap. So hats off.

12.) 05 Dec 2016 11:51:27
The Inverness keeper always does well against us just a thought.

I honestly can't see why he doesn't start ahead of Forrest. Forrest started the season quite well but he seems to be going missing again in games . Roberts always seems to create something for us .

If the gerrard rumours were to come true, there's no way McCarthy will be brought in as well. Just couldn't see the outlay on wages. Also I think we will have the same problem getting rid of players that we don't want as we always have. Just look at efe, we may end up paying a few of these off to get rid of them.

I have to admit that griffiths has been unlucky to be dropped but I personally don't think he could play the no 10 role. He doesn't get his head up enough to play killer passes for me in that role like a real no 10. When he got his start last week unfortunately he had one of his nights where it looked like he could play all night and not score, where he was trying so hard. I think Rodgers will give him games and he will need to be ready when called upon, it was only a couple of months ago he was jumping in the managers arms after scoring while dembele looked really out of sorts. I personally think as well he will have to grin and bear it at the minute because if he eventually looks for a move it won't be to a premier league team so it will be a step down. Also we all know dembele won't be here forever . He seems to love playing for us so hopefully the manager can keep him happy.

Without sounding too patronising, the opinions shared by people on here are just that . Opinions . Just because Ed gives his opinion doesn't mean it has to be bang on, how many people on this site including myself have seen a lot of de vries on a regular basis . I would presume not a lot . I personally don't rate Gordon either but if there's a budget left, say for arguments sake of 6 million maybe the manager sees it better judgement to pay a small amount and leave the budget for an outfield player he thinks we need .

Have to admit, the club do a great job of keeping things under wraps. The gutter rags just end up guessing names but I am intrigued as to who we will bring in. Like you I think maybe two more, presumably another centre back as we are releasing a few, but izzy keeps getting linked away as well.

But I thought br wanted a no 10 type in the summer . Hopefully he can pull a couple of exciting players in to add to what he's already built. I'd have thought ed would have had some info but even he seems quiet .

I'd personally be gutted if they accepted that bid, which I don't think for a minute they will. The other point is dembele had multiple options during the summer including spurs who are a much better option than West Ham . After him personally saying he is both very happy at the club and came to get game time, champions league experience and experience of winning things, I personally don't think he would contemplate moving to them. He seems like he has his head screwed on regarding his career and can obviously see us as a stepping stone to a massive club. Not a tin pot club like them. When he leaves us I presume it's going to be a real top side . ( and for bigger money than 20 million
