Ed, I read this morning something about us and skertl getting linked. Have you heard anything on this? Not loads of pace but decent experience and no nonsense defender? He's a safer bet than boyata I think .

Quinn1888

{Ed007's Note - I know that some places were linking us with him along with Man City ( I know but remember they're after Jonny Evans), Newcastle and Swansea earlier this summer but if he was leaving Fenerbahce I think it would have happened by now.
Skrtel's only been in Turkey a year but he was being linked with a move away because Fenerbahce breached FFP Regs last year and it was thought he would need to be sold but with only days to go it doesn't look like that's true though that's not to say a move won't materialise.}

1.) 28 Aug 2017 12:59:22
If it were to happen ed, what's your opinion? An improvement?

{Ed007's Note - Definitely.}

2.) 28 Aug 2017 13:03:03
Afternoon ED I've been sleeping the day due to being night shift last night just wondering where we are at with PR one report says he's in or will be here for medical with Loan deal pending other report say possible permanent deal looming have I heard anything? Plus CH Rodgers knows too coming in possible can you shed in sense to these reports cheers.

{Ed007's Note - I'd love it to be a permanent deal for Roberts but unless the player himself has made a major u-turn it's going to be a loan. All the talk about why you'd need a medical for a loan is just nonsense, every signing goes through a medical even youngsters.
I've not heard anything on the CB situation but it seems to be Skrtel people are talking about.}

3.) 28 Aug 2017 13:46:25
I don't really rate him as a CB thought he was a bit suspect at time but who am I BR knows best seen someone talking about a striker too any news on that front ED?

{Ed007's Note - Maybe Odsonne Edouard.......

4.) 28 Aug 2017 13:55:05
Who's that ED? Sorry.

{Ed007's Note - He's a 19-year old striker from PSG who spent last season on loan at Toulouse. Read up on him - the GB could have a field day with their banners lol}

5.) 28 Aug 2017 14:09:16
Cheers ED I will could possible the trip to France from BR maybe he was trying to do some shopping?

{Ed007's Note - Maybe.}

6.) 28 Aug 2017 14:12:08
I've heard of this kid, think he can play out on the right wing aswell a decent prospect and with PSG signing Neymar and supposedly agreeing a loan deal for Mbappe, it could open the door for him to leave.

7.) 28 Aug 2017 14:24:24
Is there any substance to the psg lad ed or just an opinion from yourself . I think skertel and jozo would be a good tough tackling pairing together . Kenny Miller wouldn't know which way to turn 😂.

{Ed007's Note - It was a name that was mentioned to me in a conversation I had this morning and he certainly ticks all the boxes as a 'project' for Rodgers.}

8.) 28 Aug 2017 16:02:47
Please not Skrtel - he's an appalling footballer and I use the term lightly because he's really nothing more than a thug.

9.) 28 Aug 2017 16:55:37
Heard that if PSG don't bring in £150 million in transfer fees before end of window they will be in breach of ffp rules so they may be looking to offload a few fringe players.

10.) 28 Aug 2017 18:29:44
Are we talking that useless bombs are who used to play for Liverpool, Skirtle?

He would be our Senderos.

I don't believe in God, but I'm asking him to take a day aff from helping actors win oscars, nicely, to make this bull.

I actually hate the way he plays fitba.

And Skurtles a nightmare too.

11.) 28 Aug 2017 18:30:45
Not cheap enough for us. Unless they gave hundreds of players. Won't affect us.

08 Jan 2017 21:36:52
On a couple of websites we are linked with the Turkish left back and Joe Gomez of Liverpool. Then today rumours of Chelsea and Munich looking at kt. I know he shot the rumours down but do you think the club are looking to sell kt. I sincerely hope not, I know possible cover is needed if izzy was to go but would a full international (turkey ) would be keen to come to sit on the bench

Quinn1888

1.) 08 Jan 2017 22:24:17
A hope not mate, a doubt Rodgers would welcome any interest in kt. N he's a celtic diehard, he will go one day but not anytime soon hopefully. Fingers n toes crossed.

2.) 08 Jan 2017 22:33:58
I hope not but I think in most if not all clubs have a price for each player if they think its crazy money and if he would go I think it would happen but like you guys its just news papers trying to make up a story

I’d agree with a lot of posters that last nights performance was poor. As a team we definitely look jaded. As a team at the minute I’m not really seeing the fast pressing and the fluent passing like we did last season even in the spl. It would seem we are desperate for the break to come but I’d agree we definitely need to bring at least 2-3 quality players in at January. A lot of the players seem to be getting knocks, strains and again this seems to be affecting form.
But we also need a bit of realism here, we go into the European stage as fourth seeds for a reason, we probably have one of the smallest budgets in there. We had very little down time from when the season ended until the qualifiers began and I’d be fairly confident we have played more games than most of the teams who have played champions league. We have won a cup already and have the league probably bagged already . Hindsight is a wonderful thing where we can say “ start ntcham and Rogic ahead of mcgregor and Armstrong where in previous games where we have struggled people have said the exact opposite. Especially regarding ntcham who was getting loads of stick on this site early on in the season. At the end of the day, a lot of these players aren't at champions league level so they aren’t capable of consistently playing well in the games. We have to remember, gladbach had a budget of over 100 million and anderlecht had two Romanian players injured last night who cost 15 million for the pair.
In saying all that like most others I’d like to see us bringing in a new right back, centre back and a midfielder that can pick out a pass.

1.) 06 Dec 2017 07:18:02
Good post mate and fair assessment Armstrong has been poor for a while but it’s also good we have players like Ntcham and Rogic who can come on and make the difference im a big Cal Mac fan and would always try and play him.

20 Oct 2017 15:39:57
I’d agree that quite a few players haven’t hit, the heights of last season yet, probably due to the amount of games we have played with very little rest, but some fans need to get a grip. We got beat of Munich and psg, there isn’t much we could really do to change that even with our strongest line up available. A lot of fans are on ntcham back at the minute but we have to remember he’s deemed good enough to play for a quality French u21 squad so people with a better judgement than ours must see something. Maybe he needs a bit of time to settle.
My main point though is that since we lost quite a few people have been mouthing off about the team. Be it Craigan, Logan or the much vaunted Mcginn ( who said Aberdeen gave them more of a game) . Let’s hope we use these comments against them and smash Hibs and Aberdeen and put these teams / players back in their place. Hopefully get through tomorrow and push the team on again.
Coybig.

A very good post Quinn1888. I think teams even top teams in Europe are seeing us as a bigger threat . I noted Muller targeted Brown in the first couple of minutes and I think Brown's game suffered .
Big teams more likely to get away with it than us . We need to preservere with what we do and give Brendan our whole support and back and encourage all the players.

2.) 20 Oct 2017 20:27:19
Seeing us as a bigger threat! What utter Shoite that is! We conceded 5 against psg and it could have been the same score in Munich! Now I'm not saying we should be competing with these teams in anyway shape or form, and they'll beat better teams than us this season. but to say they see us as a bigger threat is utter garbage! These big teams view us and teams for smaller countries as an inconvenience and nothing else!

3.) 20 Oct 2017 22:08:07
Lh86, your reply is as you would describe it, a load of shoite, All 3 teams we played in Champions League fielded their strongest available team against . They had obviously been watching us closely before the game and set out tactics to use against us. Targeting Brown in the first minutes, showed intent o not use use us as an inconvenience to get out of the way .
I have supported Celtic for nearly 60 yrs, good times and bad but I have never regarded Celtic as inconvenience to any other team and nothing else .
If I ever feel that I think I will abandon my support for Celtic.

4.) 20 Oct 2017 22:41:50
They fielded they'r strongest teams so they see us as a threat! Away and gies peace! Targeting brown! Again utter pish! they've obviously been watchn us before the game! Naaawww u don't say! That's what teams usually do when they'r about to play somebody! To suggest that psg and bayern view us as a threat is garbage and I don't know anyone who would think otherwise! Well there is one person but he's known for spouting pish!

5.) 20 Oct 2017 22:51:00
Lh86 I think Chris is trying to saying we could be a banana skin for these teams and won't underestimate us or go in the the game with complacentsy (If that's even a word)

6.) 20 Oct 2017 23:35:29
Daz of course they won't underestimate us, these are top class clubs and players. but I stand by my opinion that they don't view us as a threat! And I think it's pretty clear that we're not a banana skin for them! We've played 4 games against barca (twice) psg and Bayern, conceded 17 goals and scored zero! That's not a threat buddy!

7.) 21 Oct 2017 09:33:54
Definitely agree were not a threat and most likely never will be as long as we play in the Scottish league and finance situation. I also think but its a process that will make us better and maybe get a last 16 place in 2 or 3 season (i hope) Clearly we have been a banana skin for teams in the past for big guns i. e Barca, man utd ect.

31 Aug 2017 23:15:50
Does anyone know if boyata or Erik will be fit for the psg game now we haven't signed a centre back? I'm having nightmares thinking biton will be up against cavani, mbappe and neymar . That's a tough test of you are a bonafide centre back not someone who is helping out there.

Quinn1888

{Ed007's Note - Boyata should be fit to play against Accies next Friday night but whether he'll be risked on their plastic pitch I don't know.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 23:30:59
Is that the business done now? How have we not signed a CB. Great two signings but would have loved a new CB. Any chance of a last minute one?

{Ed007's Note - Looks like that's us.}

2.) 02 Aug 2017 21:45:53
Absolute joke to be honest, if we want to be a big team and play the big boys then we need to act like them and do the business . Can see us scoring a couple against the big guns as I think that's been addressed but losing a good few with a makeshift / unfit / untested defence. Rediculous found into CL with this defence and I'll bet anyone that when we lose our unbeaten run its because of us resting the unfit and injured defenders.

Ed, with time running out on the window, would any Medicals be rushed through or not as stringent as normal due to time constraints. E. g. The problem with Coetzee would normally be picked up. Especially if they are with their national team or from another country.

Quinn1888

{Ed001's Note - deals are agreed subject to medical if there is not time to do one. It happens a lot.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 17:13:57
ED001 hope you have your yellow tie on tonight lol.

{Ed001's Note - I am hurt Timmy! I am far better looking and much younger than Jim rhymes with White.}

2.) 31 Aug 2017 17:34:40
This is gaining strength oh i hope so better than any we have and really great prospect please please.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 20:20:59
EDs a fan has just posted up that the deal for the PSG guy is off have use heard this?

{Ed007's Note - Did you miss out an ny there?}

4.) 31 Aug 2017 20:42:05
Is it true?

{Ed007's Note - I'm not telling you.}

30 Aug 2017 16:57:41
looks like it's back to the list as apparently denayer is signing for galatasaray.

Quinn1888

1.) 30 Aug 2017 17:17:48
Quinn I think this was a made up story, anyway did you see Denayer at Sunderland last season, he looked overweight and lacked pace, not to bothered he is going to Turkey.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 20:12:58
Spot on Tim. He's regressed so much. Overweight, no pace, no passion and above all incredible arrogance. He can sod off.

Looking back on previous windows I'm preparing myself to feel let down again. We have been in this position at many transfer windows recently, leave stuff to the end . Then when they fall through we hear the same guff from the board saying "it's a difficult window, something went wrong at the last minute, player had his head turned by an opportunity somewhere else. At the minute with the injuries, paddy not being here I definitely think we are worse off than last season . I'd love 2-3 players around the same mould of ntcham to come in for once ( obviously I mean in different positions )

First of all I hope he stays. As for some of us to be slagging him off, I really don't see what he's doing wrong. Armstrong isn't a kt where he was brought up loving the hoops, he has no real affinity to the club, although I'm sure he loves it there. What is happening to us is exactly what happened with him at Utd, he was offered a better contract, a better opportunity and he took it. It's the nature of the beast, any player anyone signs it's predominately for money and opportunities. Someone on here earlier was saying play ntcham or kundai as they want to be here. Ntcham has already said he wants to play in the premier in the future. We all know most of our lads have a shelf life of two to three seasons max because the standard isn't that challenging. He stays, great he moves on, we replace him and the cycle will continue.

I actually thought Kouassi played well today, however we certainly missed browns drive, the passing seemed very slow even though we kept possession well. Sinclair seems very off the pace all season . Leigh as well seemed very stagnant today and our last pass was poor . Wasn’t that impressed today all though we rested players and we have had a lot of games lately.

I was just talking about the same thing the other day, no one seemed to mind while they were going out spending money they couldn’t afford on English and Dutch internationals while we were signing players like muggleton and vidar riseth to compete . There was no talk of tainted titles then or didn’t count as there was no challenge .

That's probably the case kevbhoy but in all honesty we will have had him for 2.5 years by then . There isn't many players as talented as him that we have permanently signed that stay with us for that long, especially in the last few seasons .

I'd agree with all of the sentiments above, however we definitely needed a higher quality centre back. We all know we have more than enough for the league and I appreciate the efforts boyata made to improve. However, we were hanging on in quite a few European games last season and the opposition this season hasn't exactly got any easier. Also as good as boyata is offensively can people not remember when Scottish teams switched onto him and just marked everyone else leaving him with the ball as his passing was shocking?
