The news of Celtic's interest in Uğurcan Çakır as a goalkeeper is indeed intriguing, especially considering its unusual presence in the media. While transfer stories are not uncommon, this one stands out due to its detailed account of our CEO's direct involvement, including a reported email to Trabzonspor with a specific bid and requests to engage with the player and his agent.

Such public disclosure of our club's negotiation tactics is unprecedented in my experience supporting Celtic. It's noteworthy that Brendan's desire for a video call with the player is mentioned, suggesting a proactive approach to secure the deal.

Speculatively, it seems the story may have originated from our CEO, perhaps as a strategic move to demonstrate transparency and early action, possibly in response to past fan criticisms of transfer dealings.

Let's hope he's the real deal can't afford another barkas.

2.) 08 Apr 2024 21:12:22
I read tonight they want 12.5 million so we can put that to bed.

3.) 10 Apr 2024 12:02:29
What clubs want and what clubs get is a totally different matter. I don't know much about the guy . But going on reports from some of his clubs fans they wouldn't be very disappointed to see the back of him .

Rumour online that Sevco will give in and give us 2750 tickets at snake mountain.

1.) 13 Feb 2024 17:16:16
Hope they tell them to ram them, 8k or forget it, kick the Onion Bears out the Broomloan.

2.) 14 Feb 2024 07:38:36
Any uplift like this to match the euro allocation is a real step forward and undoubted admit to error from rangers, the 8k won’t happen again in my view, all I care about is Celtic stick to our guns and give them nothing until they put measures in place at ibrox first as we know this is there doing, does anyone else think they will try and not give us the allocation for next game seeing as how close the league is and will delay until next season.

3.) 14 Feb 2024 09:20:14
Tell them to ram it! They started this Shiite coz their fans got never got invited to our parties in their house. Already proved this hasn’t stopped us winning there, so, back to what it was or feck off!

4.) 14 Feb 2024 12:18:39
I'm happy with never allowing them back in.

5.) 14 Feb 2024 13:13:40
I'm ok with the status quo. Our fans aren't safe in that cesspit of anti catholicism plus Paradise with 60k Celtic supporters for that game is Paradise for me.

6.) 14 Feb 2024 17:21:56
Celtic have showed we can pick points up at Ibrox without our fans.
Sevco have also showed they fail to pick points up at Celtic Park without their fans.

7.) 15 Feb 2024 16:42:05
I agree Buzz Bomb, Rangers2012 started cutting our allocation as there fans couldn’t stand Celtic fans celebrating as we were winning far too often for them . Rangers2012 admitted that Ibrox wasn’t a safe place. for an ex Celtic player working in the media . If they couldn’t protect C Sutton, how could they protect a couple of thousand fans . Celtic still pick up good results in meaningful Ibrox games whilst Rangers2012 cannot get results at Celtic Pk .
Celtic club prefer no Rangers fans as Police can’t or won’t prevent Sevco fans from damaging Celtic Pk . In fact they can’t even prevent Police from wrecking toilets.

8.) 16 Feb 2024 04:14:43
All due respect lads doesn't matter if we pick up points there if we keep dropping silly points elsewhere as we have seen recently.

Tete is apparently moving from shaqtar. He is the type of player I would like us to sign.

Young, talented, experienced and already established in the first team. This means they have a good chance to hit the ground running and can still move on for a good profit in 2-3 years time.

Weejoe

1.) 12 Jul 2023 12:48:27
Is there anyone you'd compare him to because I genuinely can't remember ever seeing him play.

2.) 12 Jul 2023 13:22:45
He reminds me of Scott Sinclair but is better and plays on the opposite wing.

He is a better dribbler and can go on the outside or cut infield. He is also bigger and more powerful. Just looks like a complete player.

3.) 12 Jul 2023 16:11:18
So nothing like Scot Sinclair then ?.

4.) 12 Jul 2023 17:18:31
He is like Scott Sinclair, in that he is very direct and scores a lot of goals cutting inside.

Reports coming out that Connor hazard is off to Plymouth for a 6 figure fee.

Hopefully, that is us starting to trim the squad as there is a fair bit of deadwood.

I would hope to aim for a squad of 26. That would give us 2 players for every position and 1 spare GK, midfielder, defender and striker and then use our B team if we get really unfortunate with injuries.

This would reduce wage bill and give young players more opportunity to get in and about the 1st team. Remember, this is how Tierney got his chance, as all our left backs were injured.

Weejoe

1.) 06 Jul 2023 12:46:26
Would terminate ajetis contract if we can't get a fee and same with barkas. cheers lenny.

{Ed007's Note - Barkas has already been released.}

2.) 06 Jul 2023 13:59:46
Didn't know that mate. didc we get anything for him ed.

{Ed007's Note - No mate, Celtic agreed to release him from the last year of his contract, Barkas and his agent hope it will help allow Utrecht to afford to sign him.}

3.) 06 Jul 2023 14:46:39
Thanks Ed ??.

This summer it looks like Celtic will have no goal keepers.

Hart is retiring, bain is out of contract and siegreist is expected to be sold.

I will reserve my comments until the end of the season.

Weejoe

1.) 26 Apr 2024 09:26:09
If bain is happy third choice a deal could be done unless one of the home grown kids are ready but then you lose development as they arein squads fort the saKe of quota.

2.) 26 Apr 2024 10:02:53
Bain signed a new deal not long ago.

I am sure that BOTH Bain and Siegreist have 2 years left.

3.) 26 Apr 2024 10:32:56
Need to bring in a top quality keeper, i would then have young Tobi as backup and give him some cup games. Have Bain in as 3rd choice and get rid of Benji.
I'm personally totally disappointed big Benji never made it as I thought he was a very good keeper when we signed him.

4.) 26 Apr 2024 12:09:51
Id can see hart signing an extension.

5.) 26 Apr 2024 13:20:19
The boy Clarke is getting rave reviews.

23 Apr 2024 19:31:08
"I saw 'Fat Sally' saying he would be saddened if Celtic faced the same fate as Rangers in 2012, i.e., they went into liquidation.

However, he is a deceitful individual. I vividly remember his comments in 1994 when we were on the brink of financial collapse.

He callously remarked that he would 'dance on our graves' if we succumbed to administration".

Weejoe

1.) 23 Apr 2024 22:18:50
When did he say he would be saddened, mate?

2.) 23 Apr 2024 22:50:49
Today.

3.) 24 Apr 2024 01:39:19
In fairness to Sally, 1994 was 30 years ago. A man - even a miserable orange 'un - might be expected to change his mind in 30 years.

4.) 24 Apr 2024 05:10:46
Aunt Sally showed his true colours when his beloved club died.

He sold out his own fans for monetary gain, see the emails between him and Charles green. His premeditated words also led to chairmen receiving death threats from their deranged fans.

Believe me, this cheeky chappy act is a sham.

5.) 24 Apr 2024 12:05:53
I could never state in fairness to Ally or any EBT recipient or any members of the Ibrox Tribute Act . Both the EBt recipients and everyone connected to new club illustrates fully the chaotic cheating by the Scottish game.

In the midst of the beautiful game's most thrilling moments, the integrity of football is put to the test by the decisions of those entrusted with upholding fairness and justice on the field: the referees. Yet, in Scotland, this fundamental pillar of the sport is crumbling under the weight of incompetence and suspicion.

For far too long, Scottish football has been plagued by the specter of dodgy referees whose decisions not only mar the game but also raise serious questions about bias and even corruption. It's a scenario that has left fans disillusioned, players frustrated, and the credibility of the sport tarnished.

Despite widespread outcry, the Scottish Football Association (SFA) has shown a reluctance to address this pressing issue effectively. The status quo persists, leaving fans and stakeholders alike feeling powerless and disheartened. But all hope is not lost.

Enter UEFA, the governing body of European football, with the power and responsibility to ensure the integrity of the game across the continent. While UEFA may be hesitant to intervene in the internal affairs of national associations, the time has come for them to take decisive action to restore faith in Scottish football.

A proposed solution lies in the implementation of a rigorous assessment system overseen by UEFA, whereby referees' performances are evaluated both on the field and through the lens of VAR technology. Referees would be held accountable for their decisions, with only those meeting the highest standards of fairness and accuracy being permitted to officiate in European competitions.

This system would serve as a powerful incentive for referees to uphold the principles of integrity and impartiality, knowing that their future opportunities in the sport hinge upon their ability to make correct and just decisions. It would weed out the incompetent and the biased, ensuring that only the best and most deserving officials are entrusted with the responsibility of officiating at the highest level of the game.

By implementing such a system, UEFA can send a clear message that incompetence and bias have no place in football, regardless of national borders. It would demonstrate a commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport and safeguarding its future for generations to come.

To the fans who have endured countless injustices on the field, to the players who have suffered the consequences of dubious decisions, and to the integrity of football itself, the time for action is now. UEFA must heed the call and intervene to rid Scottish football of its referee crisis once and for all. Only then can the beautiful game truly flourish.

1.) 23 Apr 2024 21:17:41
Uefa are as bent as a bottle of crisps.

2.) 23 Apr 2024 21:49:18
I wouldn’t be surprised if Celtic made a complaint to UEFA, no matter how clear cut complaint was, Celtic would finish up punished. The Masons and Orange Order members would conspire to rule Scottish Football Association fair and right .
We know what it’s like in the Demi-Province to bang your head against a stone wall to try to get fairness.

Just this week they have decided that even though all ranks of Brit’s Army told lies (yes perjured themselves) in Bloody Sunday Enquiry, they wouldn’t be prosecuted. Their perjuring cost Brit Gov £191 m, if truth had been told cost has been estimated short of £20m
This shows authorities can rule as they want.

3.) 24 Apr 2024 01:40:47
A Spectre is haunting Western Scotland . . . lol.

Nice, Weejoe.

I saw Dermot Desmond was photographed in an Irish pub in Italy watching the semi final on Saturday.

Hopefully he is taking an active role in our recruitment and was over trying to get us some Italian maestros for next season
?.

I have honestly no idea what he does regarding Celtic - apart from appointing certain managers.

2.) 23 Apr 2024 08:53:37
As long as he hasn't done any of the scouting himself.

21 Apr 2024 18:49:37
What we are noticing this season is that Starfelt was a far better player than most of the Celtic fans realised.

He provided pace and aerial prowess, which complimented CVV's attributes.

I know it took him a little time to settle, which was understandable as he was playing a new system that left the CBs exposed and he was having to play on his weaker foot.

Weejoe

{Ed007's Note - Starfelt had a bit of a nightmare on his debut v Hearts and a part of the support never forgave him or gave him a fair chance. Just like Scales is the fall guy now any mistake at CB was blamed on him even when it wasn't his fault.
It didn't help that Starfelt had been cooped up in a hotel because of COVID restrictions at the time and was working alone to keep fit, people also forget that at the beginning of his Celtic career he was partnered with either of Welsh and Bitton at CB, CCV didn't sign until the last day of the window.
Our defence is a lot weaker this season because of Starfelt's departure, we've spent about £8 million trying to replace him and we've ended up with Scales in there.}

1.) 21 Apr 2024 19:44:17
Aye he got a bum deal from a section of our fans.

I actually think Nawrocki and Lagerbielke have potential. It could not have been easy moving to a new country, having a massive increase in expectation and walking into a team low on confidence and your partner kept changing.

Hopefully see them both kick on next season.

{Ed007's Note - Would it be a gamble to replace Scales with Nawrocki for the run in? I think he could have something about but I can't see Lagerbielke in our plans at all going forward and wouldn't be surprised to see both of them move on in the summer.}

2.) 21 Apr 2024 20:04:08
I would stick with scales as it is out most settled defence.

Like you it wouldn't surprise me if either of them were moved on in the summer.

I would say at least one defender has to move on and someone with pace and aerial ability needs signed.

{Ed007's Note - We don't need to sign an improvement on Scales or the other 2 imo - we need to sign an improvement on CCV to play alongside him. Imagine we could find a CB to come in and have the effect on the team of a Hatate or MOR?}

3.) 21 Apr 2024 21:00:15
100% agree Ed.

I'd also play Nawrocki for the remaining 6 games of this season, Scales is simply not fit for purpose.

Next season the aim should be to improve EVERY position of the starting 11 on the pitch where at all possible.

As I've already posted, regardless of where the remaining two trophies end up, I personally feel that given the level our players have reached this season, we need to replace 5 or 6 of the current starting 11 if we are to progress.

We've got more than enough cash already in the bank, as well as fees we'd get for the glut of players who are already surplus to requirements.

Lastly, I'd take the armband off CalMac and make CCV the captain as I think it's too heavy.

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - ??

4.) 21 Apr 2024 21:09:10
I like the look of Jacob Greaves at Hull Ed! And he’s left footed. I really do think there are some gems
In the champ who wouldn’t cost too much.

Again I reiterate there is a number of top class players floating about the better teams uk shrewder leagues on the continent that we could afford. Teams like Salzburg, Copenhagen, Bodo I could go on.

The part that shocks me is that I can see it. Why can’t they?!

We need to conduct our business quickly this summer. The only hamper being the Euros which tends to cause problems, as we enter this new CL format.

The club will run the usual agenda “we tried”. I’d like to be proven wrong.

{Ed007's Note - They do try imo but do they try enough? Push the boat out on 1 or 2 "top" signings that will kick the team on, go out and look at a £10+ million striker to replace Kyogo, £8-10 million on a partner for CCV and the same on a proper CDM, offer higher wages to players that will take us to the next level, that's the important part, transfer fees involve so many variables but a players wages makes all the difference to where they fancy a move to.}

5.) 21 Apr 2024 21:11:40
Granted this has not been CCVs best season but I still rate him. When he is fully fit he bosses it up here.

{Ed007's Note - What about in the CL? Up here players like CalMac & Greg Taylor boss it but get found out BIG time in Europe. Kyogo has 4 goals in 17 games in European group stages, is that good enough?}

6.) 21 Apr 2024 22:08:25
We're in a great position financially to bring in proven players in key positions who will improve the first 11.

* cash in the bank
* fees from players to be sold
* sell on fees for players e. g. Frimpong
* CL money (should we win the league)

Im not a fan of the term 'marquee signing', as if it's some sort of bonus the fans should be excited about.

We should be scouting and signing TWO first team starters every single season, players who come in and are an automatic upgrade on the player they are replacing.

That way the bar gets raised higher, the team shape doesn't get upset as it's not wholesale change and the consistency of performance and results should follow.

The aim here should be to continue domestic dominance but importantly make an impact on the European stage, targeting the latter stages of the Europa League initially, which requires skills and experience we just don't have at this moment in time e. g. game management.

☘️ ? ☘️.

7.) 22 Apr 2024 05:51:18
I think Callum has the talent but is not suited to the role when it comes to CL. I do think CCV is good enough but our system can leave him exposed and he needs a partner who compliments him and covers up his deficiencies.

8.) 22 Apr 2024 14:21:43
I think we all agree we knew better players in as many positions as possible and to get them in early so they can start pre-season training with the rest of our first team squad.
However it isn’t going to happen, it’s only about 6 weeks until summer transfer season starts . Our top people in our recruitment team are enjoying gardening leave and the only experienced people we have left on our Board are PL and
DD . Recent history has shown that to put it very mildly our supporters wouldn’t be happy with this pair . Like top Managers and Directors of Football (if we went that way ) bigger clubs than Celtic with more financial clout are finalising their entire Recruitment team, and we are starting out, looking at who is left, who isn’t wanted elsewhere and trying to coax him to come to us.

We need to play at a relentless pace today. Everyone pressing, lots of movement off the ball. Kyogo playing high and zipping ball quickly and players receiving it in good positions.

What I don't want to see is too many passes across the back line and allowing opposition to press. As soon as they press we should be playing through them.

I agree Gerry, our main problem areas have been back 4 and wingers.

This is weird as I think some of our layers in these positions are good players. This mens they are either low on confidence or not suited to Brendan's system.

I have also been saying for ages that Kyogo needs a central midfielder who has the vision and technical ability to spot kyogos runs and play him in.
