Not recommended for auld fogeys like me with high blood pressure and other West of Scotland health issues. However, to have won that semi-final after probably our worst all-round performance in several weeks was real testament to determination, guile and bottle against an opponent that were much better than their league position and gave us a real fright.
Too many Celts not at it today - strangely in the perfect conditions - but so many mistakes, poor passes and mis-control all over the pitch. Hard to explain the dip in form, although they do say semi-finals are always cagey and nervy games.
Possibly CCV's worst game this season, although Scales missed some headers as well and whenever we did get our act together, we couldn't finish them off and let them in.
Hoping that's it out of our system as we (and they) Celtic can play much better. Big mention to James Forrest and (eventually) Joe Hart who seemed to totally enjoy himself, even when I was reaching for ma inhaler and ma short glass. Well done Celtic on another Cup Final, retaining BR's record and hopefully saving your best form for the run-in. H H.

How was that a testament to anything. We were utter pish and should have been beaten. The absolute luck of a penalty shootout went our way but in no way did we earn that win. We were lazy and technically all over the shop. I live for the green and white but fucks sake mate.

I agree we were atrocious Gerry mate; and I never celebrated at the end of the game but although relieved we managed it somehow. My reference to determination and bottle referred only to the pressure of penalty kicks when apart from Hart every Celt scored their PK. Because I can remember back to watching Dixie Deans hit the moon with his and us losing several penalty-shootout's over the decades.

I'm still bitter about the way the game was altered and manipulated by officials (corrupt, inept or otherwise) . I said yesterday I was still optimistic, although realistically, I have seen Celtic drop too many points against top half teams all season (VAR assisted or not) . Yesterday, we let slip a lead twice and conceded three goals in a half in the process. When was the last time we did that?
It's possible Celtic need to win every game we play and with injuries clearing up, that should be a factor; but the way the whole season has panned out I'm hoping rather than expecting us to finish the job - all things considered.

I think the soft bookings we were given in the first half contributed to the result also it made Celtic players more cautious Beaton IMO knew what he was doing in that respect. As for the penalty that was a joke. The missile throwing YET AGAIN is something CELTIC should be going to the SFA with and demanding protection for fans and Employees of the club. And future guarantees for no more if they can't garentee close the areas that it comes from until they can get their house in order.

Johnstone definitely gets the ball first and the big lassie falks over for the umpteenth time yet to get a yellow.

3.) 08 Apr 2024 11:32:24
All too familiar and the authorities do zilch are rhey going to wait till someone gets seriously hurt.

4.) 08 Apr 2024 16:55:31
Vars role in there pen should be to spot the touch on ball by Johnstone and not to advise contact so a pen, if anything only thing that was incorrect was the silva yellow as there was definitely contact, but he should have at that point already been on a yellow for diving.

Although I was delighted with our first half performance and how dominant we were and 2 goals should have been at least doubled. The game was molded by a predictably biased referee and his lodge buddy in VAR. However, it's not only the big decisions - as we got a couple ourselves, but the constant stream of non-free kicks awarded for opponents falling down or feigning injury. While fouls on Celtic players are 'played-on' to the opponents advantage.
This unfortunately happens in every game as does the farcical imbalance of yellow cards like today.
This will continue as long as Celtic allow it and will cost us in the end one way or another.
The same thing could happen again at Celtic Park, so today was a chance lost to establish daylight. You can be sure they will get plenty more assists in the run-in, but we cannot lose focus or faith.

Got to say the celebrations and lap of honour at the end are comical. Win our remaining games and we win the title. Scottish refereeing is at a all time low, and will once again be swept under the carpet along with the normal party songs and missiles been thrown at the Celtic dug out.

I thought exactly the same Jamie, the celebrated like the won the treble.

3.) 07 Apr 2024 16:05:36
I did laugh, jumping on each other a backs and hi fives as if they'd just won a cup.

Throughout this season thee have been times when we seem to be lose a bit of form and momentum after scheduled breaks or interruptions. On the other hand this latest break may have given recovery time to injured players.
I'm hoping the latter prevails.

The run up to the winter break was probably the most momentum we've had this season and it really came at the worst time.

Although Joe Hart has his critics, he will be one of the hardest players we have had to replace in a long time.
His experience and ability has allowed us to keep possession, playing with the ball on the deck from back to front since he arrived and I know some of the penalty box passing can give you the fear at times, but you just had to look at Butland last weekend with the ball at his feet to appreciate what we have.

Obviously Cal-Mac's presence and experience is a big loss for us and a huge lift for them. It's up to the rest to step-up and compete.

This is where the manager and players have to stand up and be counted-on. The top five opponents will be a stern enough test, but we also have the biased SFA contingent to defeat along the way, plus any other KO manipulating that SLY throw into the mix.

The players have to approach EVERY remaining game with passion and desire and maintain concentration and focus for 90 or 98 minutes whatever the case may be. No matter the opponent, the officials or the venue. The manager and most of the players have been there before.

There are even some of that 130,000 where you struggle to believe how they made it. I suspect of the majority who 'drop-out', many have great ability and talent, but are rejected because of issues with stature, attitude and application, discipline, fitness and mental strength and of course like any other entertainment industries, it all boils down to someone's opinion where faces might not easily fit.
I don't think there are many of us who grew up with players with great skill and potential, who actually made the grade.

They used to say an ideal squad had two quality players for every position and its abundantly clear we are way off that formula.
Supporters would agree with the majority of that list and maybe add or subtract a couple here and there. Unfortunately, a quick clear-out seems unlikely, as we would need full co-operation of the players, numerous interested clubs and a recruitment team that was top notch in negotiations, efficient wheeling and dealing and scouting and this season has shown us to be severely lacking in that department.
However, I can see us getting shot of a few who have one foot out the door already and taking a financial hit on a couple of others, so it would be a start. One things for sure, we can't have another nightmare summer 'window' and winning the title is a priority.
