One rumour going around today is Valentin Stocker who plays mainly as a left winger. Don't see much logic in that unless he can be utilised as a striker too. And suggestions of a CB from City, maybe Denayer? I expect a lot of names to be flying about the place over the next couple of days so fingers crossed we get the guys we're really after. HH.

1.) 29 Aug 2017 13:58:57
I heard he's been playing in behind a striker No10 for the past couple of seasons. He's played a lot of football and at a high enough standard so might be a challenger for Rogic if that's the case! Need a CB though!

2.) 29 Aug 2017 14:17:57
Last thing we need is another midfielder surely. We've got McGregor for that position too and Paddy can play off the striker too. CB has to be the absolute top priority.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 14:22:46
He can play wide number 10 or striker according to few reports I have read.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 14:57:20
If we bring in a winger/ striker, we might ship out benyu or as reported by a garbage site that Cardiff want to loan Hayes.

21 Aug 2017 10:32:16
When the story first broke I assumed it was just to fill column inches, but reports are claiming a move for Coetzee is going ahead. I'm surprised that we're not linked with somebody with more European pedigree but as I've never seen him play I have to trust the scouts and the management.

Kevbhoy

1.) 21 Aug 2017 11:32:14
He is injured now.

2.) 21 Aug 2017 11:34:35
Yeah I read that but the South African press are still saying he's flying to Glasgow to finalise a move.

3.) 21 Aug 2017 15:04:40
Doubt it will be a goer if scans come back saying he's tore his hamstring?

done deal.

15 Aug 2017 18:35:08
Chris Sutton has just claimed live on BT that he has it on good authority Roberts will be our player, possibly even by tonight's deadline.

Kevbhoy

1.) 15 Aug 2017 18:55:31
Just seen that myself Kevbhoy, fingers crossed.

2.) 15 Aug 2017 18:56:18
Seen that Kev, don't think he would be saying that if there was nothing in it?

3.) 15 Aug 2017 19:04:14
Yea Kev, he said he had it on good authourity that Paddy will sign before the deadline tonight.
Strange, i thought he was away with Man C.

4.) 15 Aug 2017 19:06:37
All the way to Spain and never even got on as a sub . Come on wee man get it sorted . First time poster.

5.) 15 Aug 2017 19:28:36
if he's not even a sub could he be on the way BACK TO PARADISE

Come home paddy . The Celts are Calling.

6.) 15 Aug 2017 19:31:49
See the picture wi him cupping his ears ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

7.) 15 Aug 2017 19:34:05
He was an unused sub . They got best 1-0 . When is the first flight to glesga Al even pay for it.

8.) 15 Aug 2017 19:34:59
He is in Spain so getting back to Glasgow tonight in time to sign surely isn't possible. However, could he sign remotely Ed given the modern technology available? Am I right in thinking that the only part of a deal a player would physically need to be there for is the medical? Given he's been our player for 18 months I'd doubt he'd need a stringent medical.

{Ed007's Note - Paperwork can be done by e-mail or believe it or not the fax is still used a lot in football.}

9.) 15 Aug 2017 19:36:02
Doesn't need t be here to sigh. Can do it by fax.

10.) 15 Aug 2017 19:39:28
Hope this isn't another red herring ma hert canny handle this what a lift for tomorrow night if it happens.

11.) 15 Aug 2017 19:44:54
Just saw the news too Kev. Fingers crossed that it's true and paddy in on a plane on his way back home.

12.) 15 Aug 2017 19:46:19
Jesus I hope this is true. Now to get Stuart Armstrong to sign a deal. If it is 2 years so be it. I would be absolutely delighted if we could get those two sorted. It would be the kickstart we need to get a bit of last season's momentum back.

13.) 15 Aug 2017 20:35:42
I asked you yesterday Ed if he'd sign in the next 48 hours and you said no. With 3 hours to go are you sticking with that? I think you'll be right unfortunately.

{Ed007's Note - I'll stick with that but I'll happily be wrong about it.}

14.) 15 Aug 2017 23:02:49
Reports on celtic transfer news now say paddy will not be signed tonight. Fxxk sake! Unless anyone has good news on it.

15.) 16 Aug 2017 00:01:11
I know Ed. The celtic board have once again let down the loyal and best supporters in the world. Signing one player of quality who is still raw and two average players that are spl standard! So annoyed at the minute. If this costs us they better have some answers as to why nothing happened.

{Ed007's Note - Every manager spins the same lines about getting players in early and ready for the CL qualifiers yet against Rosenborg the only new signig that started was Hayes and he onoy started because Dembele and LG were out.
I'm still confident of CL qualification though.}

25 Jul 2017 22:10:58
I wonder if we'll do some late business this window (Roberts perhaps? ) because the VVD saga is threatening to go to the wire. I'd hope we would do our business regardless but understand the reality of our financial situation.

Kevbhoy

1.) 26 Jul 2017 06:57:39
I thought we would have had our deals done early but most players don't become available until the end of the transfer window so expecting 2 or 3 big deals to be done. Injuries and suspensions have already shown we need another CB and Striker. Although we are more than capable of winning the SPL again with ease to make an impact in the CL we need to build on that success, something we didn't do in previous seasons.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 08:31:46
Manager said in a couple interviews he was looking to get few in then wait till near the end of window.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 09:21:28
Hopefully a few more outs aswel. Ciftci and Bitton the obvious 2 who are going to find it even more difficult to get on the bench never mind starting 11.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 10:12:22
I think the biggest issue is trying to attract the players we need to come to Celtic. No matter how big and great Celtic are it is still Scottish league footy which is not a good standard. The big attraction would be European football so I hope that if we get passed Rosenberg and then through the play off round then we would be able to attract the type of players we want.

5.) 26 Jul 2017 10:25:38
As much as I hate to admit it, I have the growing feeling that wee paddy won't be returning. I hope I am so wrong about that, but I just can't see it.

The two young guys he has brought in look absolute class and wee Jonny will give his all every time he is played. We still need a CB and if this boy Caulker can be sorted out and plays the way he can then he is in with Simo no question. Both Boyata and Shev give me palpitations every time they play out from the back.

I really think young Benyu will be brilliant for us and see Mcgreggor getting less game time as a result of it. With the two strikers out, it dismays me we have nobody coming through who could lead the attack. It's not about age, it's about ability and Brendan obviously feels there isn't anyone up to it.

I'm now in panic mode to try to get a stream for tonight. It's gonny be a day of fretting over that.

Think we will score four tonight. COYBIG!

6.) 26 Jul 2017 12:35:43
I hope you are right MP i did Ntcham 1st goal 4-0 @ 190/ 1.

7.) 26 Jul 2017 14:23:39
Stan that looks a great bet.

8.) 26 Jul 2017 14:56:21
Noticed about Ntcham already he ain't afraid to shoot from anywhere, who knows an early goal and anything is possible. The pressure we put on teams after an early goal is great to watch so hopefully the same tonight.

16 Jul 2017 17:19:16
Rumours on social media that Armstrong won't be signing a new deal and will be off this summer. Shame if true.

Kevbhoy

1.) 16 Jul 2017 18:00:58
Sad to see him leave but if his heads been turned by money after playing well for 6 months then good riddance. Still don't think he was good enough for Europe but another year and he would've matured greatly, but sadly money talks.

2.) 16 Jul 2017 19:06:59
After watching the game yesterday plenty of cover if he does go. would be a mistake on his part but onwards and upwards for us.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 19:14:50
Gutted if he goes. Could see him getting the armband in a few years.

4.) 16 Jul 2017 19:36:28
I read that myself but I have no idea how reliable the source is. They are saying Southampton, Brighton, Bournemouth and Burnley have all offered him ยฃ45k a week. How do they know that? I really hope he signs up to the new contract. Goalscoring midfielders like him are hard to find.

5.) 16 Jul 2017 19:41:55
It would appear that money is his Ghod, he had an outstanding season under Brendan but if he'd rather play for a mediocre team than a good team winning trophies and playing Champions League then punt him and invest the proceeds in a quality CB, good luck Stuart I hope you don't come to regret it .
Drewzybhoy .

6.) 16 Jul 2017 20:00:26
Im not sure there is any substance to this one guys. If teams had approached him and offered wages etc that would be illegal tapping would it not. Ed?

{Ed007's Note - If another club has spoken to a player without permission then that's tapping up. Informal talks between agents about Player X moving to Team A isn't seen as tapping up.
The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.
Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.}

7.) 16 Jul 2017 20:41:13
Bhoys if Stuart decides to go, I wish him the very best in his new venture. I totally agree he is a talent that will be missed, however onwards and upwards. He would have been more comfortable at Celtic if Ronnie played him in his position. Under Brendan we are bringing in young talented players and it's making my smile massive.

8.) 16 Jul 2017 21:14:50
Shame if true. I never really understand the logic of the champions league argument yes we qualify every year and if we get through qualifiers the player will get to play six games against big teams probably two teams way above our level and one of similair strenghths . in the EPL unfortunately they are gauranteed games against half a dozen top teams and another 8-10 about thier own level. so the better standard and competition as well as huge increases in wages are very appealing but money isn't everything.

9.) 16 Jul 2017 22:00:06
Wish him the very best, u having a laugh! Good riddance I say! 1 good season he's had and he's running for the promised land already! Sorry but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I for one will not be wishing him well or good luck! Yes I would never deny a guy the rite to make more money but there's way u go about it! Like I said get as much as possible for him and get him to f**k! Sick of actually hearing about this now and it won't be any good for team moral! Don't have him anywhere near the first team and bring ntcham and benyu in! 2 boys who actually want to be there!

10.) 16 Jul 2017 22:06:08
Was hoping he would sign but if not to be good luck to the lad, I saw enough yesterday to remain positive we have others who can take his place, if we can get ยฃ8m we can get in another 1 or 2 top players with that cash so we move on and will continue to improve without him. If true and he definitely wants to leave I hope he is sold asap the quicker the better so we can focus on who wants to play for us I really don't see the point in playing him again if he is leaving.

11.) 16 Jul 2017 22:41:58
Just be another player who left too soon to chase the money and the dream of playing in the mighty PL and end up at some pish Championship club fighting relegation because they couldn't cut it at the top. Armstrong's only contribution in the game against England was to give the ball away and cost us the win. He was invisible up to that point. If money is what drives him then cash in as he has only had half a good season with us.

12.) 16 Jul 2017 23:11:30
I personally think he will leave. The outcome will be similar to that of Liam Miller.

13.) 16 Jul 2017 23:52:40
Was actually going to make that comparison RM but couldn't even bring myself to write his name! Lol. totally agree but buddy! Like I said this definitely leaves a bad taste in the mouth for me! The club and Brendan especially has made it clear how much they want him to stay and by the looks of it it's made not a blind bit of difference! Like I said if he does move there will be no good luck and all the best from me! Sell him ASAP and don't give him a sniff of action til he's sold!

{Ed007's Note - The Club and player seem to be miles apart in wages, the duration of the deal and bonuses.}

14.) 17 Jul 2017 00:37:03
I remember u saying it was the length of the deal that was the issue ED, doesn't surprise in the slightest there's more to it than that! If this was going to get sorted it would have been done by now. i know it comes across bitter me having a go at the boy but I really can't sit here and say he goes with all our best wishes bla bla bla! I want him sold right away before this affects the dressing room! We've got the most important games of our season over the next few weeks and having someone like that in and about the squad has no benefit at all! What does that say to the boys in our squad that a player who doesn't want to be there and has no commitment to the club still gets a game! I know I'm coming across harsh here and the boy seems like a nice enough guy, but our club comes first and that's all that interests me! What's your honest opinion on it ED, am I being to harsh here?

{Ed007's Note - I said all along it was down to wages but someone quite sternly told me it was the length of the new deal that was the sticking point. It won't affect the dressing room though, players rarely get involved in stuff like that, they'll be in a player's ear to sign etc but it won't affect morale.
I've been a long term fan of SA even when he was struggling but I can understand the way some fans are feeling about it, I said weeks ago there was a point quickly coming down the line where someone must make a decision either way. If the rumours are true I think that point has come and Celtic need to seriously look at offers. Then again it could all be nonsense and he'll sign up.}

15.) 17 Jul 2017 02:44:47
If his head has been turned then so be it no point in keeping a player with one year left on his contract punt him now and get some money back.

16.) 17 Jul 2017 08:21:36
The bhoy looks happy he's an intelligent lad BR has brought life into his career SA knows he's become a big part of the starting 11 so the question the big question for SA is how much is enough for him?

17.) 17 Jul 2017 10:42:50
First of all I hope he stays. As for some of us to be slagging him off, I really don't see what he's doing wrong. Armstrong isn't a kt where he was brought up loving the hoops, he has no real affinity to the club, although I'm sure he loves it there. What is happening to us is exactly what happened with him at Utd, he was offered a better contract, a better opportunity and he took it. It's the nature of the beast, any player anyone signs it's predominately for money and opportunities. Someone on here earlier was saying play ntcham or kundai as they want to be here. Ntcham has already said he wants to play in the premier in the future. We all know most of our lads have a shelf life of two to three seasons max because the standard isn't that challenging. He stays, great he moves on, we replace him and the cycle will continue.

18.) 17 Jul 2017 08:41:53
You say wages are the issue Ed, does the boy seriously think he deserves to be our top earner!? ยฃ20k a week would double his current wage, he doesn't deserve more than that after one good season. Playing wise I don't think it will affect us too much. He obviously scored a good few goals but McGregor started to add that towards the end of the season. I also think Ntcham and Brown will be a more solid base which will allow us to play 4-2-3-1 all the time with Rogic in the team who has a better strike rate than Armstrong anyway. Its a shame cos he was improvint but oh well, he certainly won't go on to VVD or Wanyana level down there.

19.) 17 Jul 2017 01:06:06
Yeh i mind u saying someone had told u it was 2 years he wanted but we want 3! I'm a long term fan of the lad to ED, I know it doesn't sound like it but lol! Think it's the fact I really rate him, as do most of us that this is a right kick in the balls if true! But I think your spot on mate, The time has come to get as much as we can and move on! Use the money to bring someone else in! and I know what u mean about players not bothering about things like this, but just feel it sends the wrong message to players champin at the bit to get a game that a player who isn't committed still gets a game! I wouldn't start him in any game now until he's sold! And that's not me being petty, just feel there's other players who can come in and do a job! Whatever happens I trust Brendan and know he'll have all possible outcomes covered! HH.

20.) 17 Jul 2017 13:37:13
Think he'd be a massive loss ฤฃoal scoring midfielders are thin on the ground plus he has a habit of scoring against sevco big loss imo.

21.) 17 Jul 2017 14:55:27
cant stop him going but i don't have to wish him well, he hasn't done that much unless you count one good season after all he didn't set the heather alight the season before but still took a decent wage, so if he goes its to line his own pockets which he is entitled to do but i will not say thanks for all youve done and good luck.

22.) 17 Jul 2017 21:12:20
If he is getting the chance to play at the top level in the EPL then he has to take it, simple. Forget the money, he will get the chance to test himself week in week out. He wouldn't want to end his career like Scott Brown having never tested himself and found out just how good he was.

23.) 17 Jul 2017 21:12:34
he is very close to a move, he has been offered 4 times what he's on by english clubs, celtic only offered him double what he is on just now.

Ed, the Celtic Snapchat showed Kouassi training today. With Brown and Armstrong unlikely to feature tomorrow do you reckon there's any chance we'll see him in alongside Ntcham? Then McGregor ahead since Rogic was away to Australia for the WCQ.

Kevbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Depending where Kouassi is fitness wise he must be in with a shout of at least being on the bench. Kouassi and Ntcham in the 2 positions in front of the defence would be good to see.}

1.) 13 Oct 2017 20:16:09
Am desperate to see kouassi get some game time under his belt. What little we've seen I have liked but still not enough to say if he's going to be a success or not.

{Ed007's Note - I think everyone feels the same way, Kev.}

2.) 13 Oct 2017 21:42:56
Who do use think we will start wae the morra?
3-1-4-2

Gordon
Erick
Boyata
Tierney
Ntcham
Forrest
McGreggor
Henderson
Sinclaire
Edourd
Dembele.

3.) 14 Oct 2017 01:00:26
No for henderson. He has no future so i would give someone else a game. I liked henderson but he has no future.

4.) 14 Oct 2017 09:02:34
Depends what Henderson you are talking about. If it is Liam I would be very surprised if he played as he has not had a sniff all season. His younger brother was on the bench in one of the last games and getting good reviews from the development league.

5.) 14 Oct 2017 14:44:23
I think we will get beat today. If he is playing kouassi and Ntcham in middle i think that is a risk. De VIRES IN GOAL? AJAR AND bitton as centre backs. Tierney on the bench? that's what it looks like being today. We need to make sure we are 100% fit for Germany trip so nothing else we can do but keeper and back line as well as midfield looks a problem. 2-1 to Dundee.

27 Sep 2017 21:37:46
I told you all earlier we should be looking for a win tonight! By far one of the best away performances I've ever seen from Celtic in Europe, especially defensively. At the end of the day they're 7th in the league for a reason and we put them to the sword. Let's enjoy this one boys!

Kevbhoy

1.) 27 Sep 2017 21:43:09
Must admit i was apprehensive tonight Kev but glad you proved me wrong bud, best away display that i've seen for yrs, Boyata and Jozo looked solid . Absolutely buzzing.

2.) 27 Sep 2017 21:44:35
Seen us play far better and get nothing.

Thought we where poor for majority of the game but for once things went our way

Just hope the players realise they are good at this level and improve for Bayern.

{Ed007's Note - I said that to the Mrs, Kev about us playing better in games and losing.}

3.) 27 Sep 2017 21:47:29
I'm on the wind up a wee bit BW. They did look dangerous in the first half tbh but we played brilliantly and nullified them completely.

4.) 27 Sep 2017 21:51:15
Saw the ref bless himself after he blew the final whistle. What a perfect end ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ˜Š.

5.) 27 Sep 2017 21:56:38
Its just a great feeling winning away knowing we can be so much better

Sutton - guy is trolling the gers big time ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

6.) 27 Sep 2017 21:56:47
The ref blessing himself? Can see a petition ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ anyone hear big sutty? When asked about the weekend game and tonight being hard games? 1 was a foregone conclusion and 1 was a test ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ.

7.) 27 Sep 2017 22:26:45
Just listened to it on the radio, and there was some similarities with the PSG game that I noticed, one was all the misplaced passes, now after the PSG game, this was explained by the PSG (BARCELONA, or any other big team) , worshippers, that is because the opposition is so good, they think, move, anticipate so fast, that the ordinary Celtic players just can't compete, well I thought, think, that that is a lot of crap, it is because Celtic were playing badly, the other thing that came across on the radio was that Ntcham made a lot of misplaced passed, he did the same against PSG, Ntcham is only twenty one, I think he can't handle the atmosphere of these big occasions just yet, when he makes a lot of misplaced passes in the first ten or so minutes, it starts of a nervousness in the team, he did the same against PSG, I think he is a very talented player, but I think maybe he should be used as a substitute in these big games, until he can match his talent to his confidence, I would have played Armstrong instead, but having said all that, I think now, the target should be second place, Bayern are an ageing side, and if Celtic click, they can take points of the Germans, home and away.

8.) 27 Sep 2017 22:43:14
While N'cham was nervous at start of game and misplaced a few passes, I thought he grew in confidence as the game went on and some of his passing was top drawer.

He is certainly a talented player and will no doubt improve as he has not played a lot of first team football and is still learning.

I think he will be a great signing for us.

9.) 27 Sep 2017 22:49:37
We won 3-0 but you would have selected a different team aindoh? Really? Doh.

10.) 27 Sep 2017 23:17:57
Well Timtam, maybe it came across different on the radio, did you watch it?, did we play well?, was there a lot of misplaced passes?, well I suppose you are right, as long as the opposition make a few mistakes, and we get the result, it doesn't really matter how we play, when they have given two goals away, and we are passing it about good style, and they're confidence is shot, heyho, doh as well, you must be right,

11.) 27 Sep 2017 23:29:58
I also think Ntcham, will turn out to be a great signing, eventually.

12.) 28 Sep 2017 01:05:46
The lad grew into the game and will be some player under Rodgers.

13.) 28 Sep 2017 09:47:57
Ntcham was atrocious until he made that pass. His confidence was shot. He came on and credit to him but uf Armstrong had been fit he would have been hooked.

Hopefully he settles down and starts to believe in himself.

21 Sep 2017 11:03:40
Going on current form and fitness, I'd go with this team on Saturday:

Gordon
Lustig Boyata Jozo KT
Brown Armstrong
Forrest Rogic Sinclair
Griffiths

Hopefully bring on Paddy, McGregor and Moose for the last half hour. I can see 3-1 or 4-1 tbh.

Kevbhoy

1.) 21 Sep 2017 11:41:44
Ntcham for Armstrong.

2.) 21 Sep 2017 13:12:54
I'd start Ntcham and bring Armstrong on. I'd play Paddy and Dembele if fit all day long.

3.) 21 Sep 2017 13:24:19
If we play a back three, I would have Brown with Ntcham as defensive midfielders; but if we start with a back four then, unlike against Dundee it allows for Rogic, McGregor or Armstrong to push forward.
The only slight problem I noticed last night is accommodating paddy and James Forrest together as I felt Roberts was out of position last night and never had the same impact we know he can and the way Forrest is playing it's impossible to leave him out.

4.) 21 Sep 2017 13:39:51
I think Roberts looked way off the pace last night otherwise he'd have been in my team. Forrest is on fire just now so that's why I'd have him in. Armstrong gives more energy and attacking threat than Ntcham and I feel their set up will only require one sitting midfielder in Brown, allowing Armstrong to bomb forward and help the forwards. Dembele obviously is the main man but I think BR will show faith in Griff.

5.) 21 Sep 2017 13:53:17
No matter what 11 we go with what an incredibly strong bench we will will have.

6.) 21 Sep 2017 14:13:30
I'd definitely play Griffiths if he's still fit, think he might be sore the day he was limping a lot before he went off.

7.) 21 Sep 2017 15:01:13
It's a good headache to have for sure Kevbhoy. On ability, Forrest gets dropped. On form, he's in. Certainly Stan, to think we could have Griffiths/ Dembele, Roberts/ Forrest/ Rogic, Armstrong and McGregor to bring on; all players that would get in their first XI imo.

8.) 21 Sep 2017 15:25:08
I think Dembele was rested for the tie and expect him to start. Since Griff hardly deserves dropping I think we'll go out shooting both barrels. Probably that means Paddy dropping out and Forrest as starting, with Ntcham, Sinclair, and Broony filling out the midfield.

Have we got a back line of Lustig, Boyata, Simunovitch and Tierney all fit? I really could see a back 3 to enable an extra midfielder bombing on, and could see any of Armstrong, McGregor or Rogic all making sense.

9.) 21 Sep 2017 16:21:19
Been very surprised if he plays a back 3 against the Zombies.
Who ever he plays they need to watch for the play acting from Morales, he dives more than Tom Daley.
Our players will need to be sensible and don't dive in to the tackles, the Sevco players and not to mention their fans will be screaming for one of our Bhoys to be sent off at the slightest foul.
I feel Roberts has to play from the start, he will cause the full backs all sorts of bother. Then for the last 20-30mins bring on Forrest when the wee man done his shift.
I suppose that's why Brendan gets the big money to make these decisions and I only make comments on here!
Can't wait till Saturday when Glasgow will truly be Green and White.

10.) 21 Sep 2017 23:11:27
I guess whatever we are planning for Anderlecht, we will trial at Ibox - just a training session really.

18 Sep 2017 10:56:17
Rene Weiler has just been given his jotters by Anderlecht. Hopefully this doesn't galvanise them into a decent performance next Wednesday.

Frank de boer getting interviewed apparently.

13 Sep 2017 12:46:10
Now that the dust has settled on last night I still feel a tinge of embarrassment and frustration. Obviously perspective shows that we were up against the financial might of Qatar but the manner of the performance disappointed me more than the result. I think BR is one of the best managers our club has ever had but he has now overseen two of our worst ever European results in successive seasons. Maybe there has to come a point where your philosophy takes a back seat for a game or two rather than playing into our opponent's hands? I'm sure the team will learn from this and our main games will be Anderlecht but I'd like to see us shore things up a bit more against the big guns in future. It's not pretty but it's worked in the past.

Kev they were superb. Having daid that i sgree we should have done much better. The Lustig move to centre half is not the answer. It would not have mattered wjo played we would still get beaten by them but looking forward to Anderlecht or even a europa team our defence is not upto it. Griff was never supported. When we broke forward thefe was no support. We gave tbe ball away etc. In my opinion we sre no better than last season. So here is the worry. This team will not significantly improve with current personell. we spent ยฃ4 mill on a partner for Brown who gave tne ball away more than anyone. So even buying 5 or 6 ยฃ4mill players will not get us anywhere in Europe. In my opinion we have hit the European brick wall. I don't think we will get 3rd place. Dissapointed but alarm bells went after the 4-3 defeat in the final qualifying game. can't see where we go.

2.) 13 Sep 2017 14:28:18
I don't think that we can buy the sort of player that can bridge the gap, the sort of player who would make a difference are way out of our price range even allowing for the money we earn from qualifying.
We are in a situation where we really have to use our wealth to remain dominant at home and hope for the occasional better draw.
It's not nice getting thumped like that, but our main aim has to be to qualify, after that we need to get tore into these teams and put them off their game, we just haven't got the ability to go toe to toe with them.
Unless the rules change and the money gets shared out more evenly we will always be at this level, we just need to be a lot more streetwise against these teams and don't let ourselves get cut open so easily.

3.) 13 Sep 2017 14:33:50
I am afraid after last night the gulf between us and the top sides in the champions league is scary. I know that the celtic board and BR were talking about getting to the last 16. I am afraid that's never going to happen as the gap will only get bigger. It will only get harder for us and more of these night could happen. We simple don't have the quality to compete even near some of these clubs. The club's like ours that are in pot four and some in pot three are simple making up the numbers. I feel sorry for the players and BR as when u spend 4-5 million only and are expected to try an compete with a team that can spend โ‚ฌ350 - 400 million on two players there is only going to be one result. I know even if we spent 20 million they are still miles better. It's just a fact that we can't compete at this level and it has become two league system with those who have all the millions and those who don't.

4.) 13 Sep 2017 15:01:14
There is a lot of sense being talked on this site. Gerry and oscar you are spot on. No one is demanding a new manager or ยฃ20mill spent. We all realise the financial gap is so so big ยฃ50mill won't get us a European trophy. We are where we ste and we need to accept our place which as kevbhoy says maybe is to dominate in SPL and use the CL funds to ensure that we do and see what happens over the next 5 years re European leagues and see if an opportunity falls out of that.

{Ed007's Note - A lot of the support have unrealistic expectations imo, Johnny. There's nothing wrong with that and I've been as guilty as anyone over the years but it's their reaction I find strange. Realistically what did people expect last night? I wasn't embarrassed to get beaten by PSG but I was disappointed with the scoreline, I don't know what the board, manager, players or support could have done to make any difference last night. PSG will beat teams better than us and will probably score more as well.
It's a lesson learnt and the players and manager will have learnt a lot from last night, it's time to put it to bed and move on.}

5.) 13 Sep 2017 15:15:28
This "the gap", is all codswallop, the gap had nothing to do with all the misplaced passes, the gap had nothing to do with Celtic playing badly, and that's what it was it was a bad day at the office, it was an off day, PSG were made to look better than they are, and their confidence grew as Celtics ineptitude became more widespread, Bayern will bring them down to earth, I expect the game in Paris to be a lot closer, and will probably put some money on an away win,

{Ed007's Note - That's a different game from the one I watched then. PSG done to us what we do to Scottish teams. They dominated us, outmanoeuvred and outplayed us all over the park.
Do all of Scottish teams just have a bad day at the office when they play us too?}

6.) 13 Sep 2017 16:05:44
Spot on ed was saying that to a pal that's how scottish teams and there fans feel when they play us.

{Ed007's Note - Sometimes you just need to accept things for what they are.}

7.) 13 Sep 2017 16:29:43
Biggest embarrassment last night for me was the wee turd that ran on the pitch even he never landed a blow for crying out loud

My biggest hope last night was that PSG had failed to gel / click with the new signing's bedding so to speak

After ten minutes I knew we were watching something special and chasing ghosts

We always seem to land the team that has just won it or are going to win it

People talking rightly so about our competition well Partick Thistle can't compete with Forest Green for wages so where will that leave us in five years our league is not appealing and Sky and even BT know they can pick us up for cheap as chips despite having great viewing figures

Unless the best of the Euro leagues like the dutch, Belgians etc who probably get rubbish league money too come up with an idea for a pan-euro league and we get invited

Ask yourself one honest question are we going to get closer or is the gap going to get wider? I know what one I plump for and in current systems / formats its not changing any time soon IMO (Y)

8.) 13 Sep 2017 16:33:53
So the misplaced passes were because.?

{Ed007's Note - The PSG players were getting in the way.}

9.) 13 Sep 2017 17:13:42
Well I was only watching on the radio.

{Ed007's Note - I hate admitting it mate but they really did destroy us - the last team I seen being THAT outplayed was Astana at CP!}

10.) 13 Sep 2017 18:13:26
The misplaced passes were because psg were shutting down quick and putting us under pressure in possession. well that's how i saw it.

11.) 13 Sep 2017 18:26:45
Funnily enough ed the last team I actually saw at Celtic park tear us apart like that was PSG.
It was late 80s maybe with Rai in their team we cudnt touch them that night either don't know if anyone remembers exactly when it was.

{Ed007's Note - That was in 95 mate and the away leg was my first time going to Europe following Celtic. That PSG team had reached a European semi-final in each of the previous three years, do you know Stephane Mahe played for PSG at the time, along with Djorkaeff and Patrice Loko who turned out to be loco!}

12.) 13 Sep 2017 18:34:24
Ah aindoh an off day. We were playing against the best front three in world football at the minute. I know you are annoyed at the result like all of us are but they are miles ahead us. 29% possession tells it all at home. There are times where you just have to admit that we can't compete against teams like these and the money's they have to spend. Once they lost the ball they when to win it back ASAP. And we don't have the players of quality to keep the ball for long spells when under that pressure. The gap is just so big between the top sides and us.

13.) 13 Sep 2017 19:03:21
I bow to your superior kmowledge ed, but wtf how did we get trounced with Mahe in their team lol.
To be fair he was decent and he set up Sutton for the 6th in a famous victory lol.

{Ed007's Note - From memory of reading about it over the years, not from being there, Mahe played the whole game in Paris but didn't last long in the home tie. I can't remember if he was hooked or injured though, probably injured. PSG won the CWC that year too so Mahe has a European medal in his closet - there's a quiz question in there.

Away Leg:

Home Leg:

14.) 13 Sep 2017 19:06:53
I think 3-0 was flattering them, never mind 5-0. We gave a better account of ourselves in the second half by all accounts. We must face the grim reality that the gap will continue to get bigger as long as states/ Sky fund some teams.

I think PSG will turn over far better teams than us this year, however I think the Bayern/ Madrids of this world will pump them. Which in turn makes me fear Bayern even more!

15.) 13 Sep 2017 21:59:55
Maybe I should watch a replay, but I can't be bothered, but it's the use of the phrase "misplaced passes", they used on the radio commentary, that is a lot different than getting shut down, I pictured passes going astray, or the wrong pass being made, or putting a team mate under pressure by giving the pass at the wrong time, by saying they were shutting us down fast and putting the passer under pressure, it makes them look good, where in reality the pass was hasty, hurried, panicky, and that's maybe what it really was, and that's because we played badly, I say again Celtic made them look a better team than they really are, I hope Moussa is fit for the Paris game, and I would play LG, in Roberts position, and I think we could get a result.

{Ed007's Note - You can't judge it on what you heard people on the radio said, behave yourself, until you've seen it yourself you're only taking their word for it while telling the rest of us we're wrong. If you didn't see it you can't really comment just to troll the site and be your usual negative self.}

16.) 13 Sep 2017 22:15:38
You said it yourself the psg players were getting in the way, now think about that, have a good long hard think about that.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not arguing a point with someone that listened to a game on the radio. You're basing your opinion on second hand information who were like you taking great pleasure in us getting the run around and everyone else is basing their's on what they saw. Have a good long hard think about that.}

17.) 13 Sep 2017 22:36:21
No, but you said the PSG players were getting in the way, not meaning to criticise you or anything, Ed, but that makes me think, the Celtic players were wanting to get rid of the ball pronto and taking unnecessary risks, because in their heads they were playing these superstars, but you are right, I will desist, is a bit stupid me arguing with you when I didn't even see the game, I will shut up.

18.) 13 Sep 2017 22:43:13
Spot on Ed just take it on the chin learn from it and move on. It highlited the point regarding a Centre half tho. Awe well Boyata Sviatchenko and Dembele will soon be back.

19.) 13 Sep 2017 22:53:25
For me it was 80% psg being on top form and 20% us being poor, that said i never expected a win but hoped we would have ran them closer, we have came ti almost expect to do well at home in the cl no matter who we play and admittedly have had some superb results against great teams over the years but them last night is possibly the best and certainly most expensive concentration of players in one team we have ever faced and as some have said previously we should probably have been set out to contain as much as possible even five at the back as our best chance would have been a goaless draw, gordon not realy ag fault lst night but progression for me will require a new gk and ch asap, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชโœŒ๏ธ.

20.) 13 Sep 2017 23:17:14
Aindoh i think that PSG were better than the Barcelona team that took 7 off us last season. don't think Celtic have progressed much compared to last year but very difficult to tell as you just don't know how good PSG really are. Last night they looked wonderful. It could have been 7 or 8 nill. We just don't have the players to compete at that level. Dissapointed with the result but as Ed says, what do we expect. In truth we were hoping for a miracle but this shows just how far behind we are and no manager is going to dramatically change that.

{Ed007's Note - Yes I honestly do, Kev. Lawwell and the board knew how the fans would have reacted if we had managed to sign Roberts permanently and there would have been no risk regarding would the player settle and be able to do the job the manager wants. It would have been a win-win for the Club.
And there's no way Celtic would want to pi$$ City off by messing them around, the Club made it crystal clear to City and Roberts even before the season ended that they would be bidding and trying to sign him permanently.}
