Jota has supposedly agreed term to move Al Ittihad, if this is true, beyond gutted.

It would take a substantial transfer fee, for Jota to move in this transfer window because he still has 4 years left on his current Celtic contract.

He can agree all the terms he likes but at the end of the day he's contracted to Celtic until 2027 so unless they come up with the valuation acceptable to Celtic he isn't going anywhere.
I find it funny though how it was Hatate that was going to Saudia Arabia until his agent quashed that rumour and Now its Jota. Could the dark arts be in play for this one ? ?.

What are people's thoughts on an acceptable fee? Should we be demanding £20m?

4.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:20:22
If it's true It's came out of nowhere And I agree Buzz Celtic must have been offered a offer they couldn't refuse.

Nothing under £30 million . Hopefully it comes out he is staying but story is everwhere.

£25m+ if it's the Saudis!

7.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:38:21
It's the Saudi Arabian's, I'm sure if they really want a player they'll pay whatever it takes.

8.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:43:40
From the Saudis I’d want £40m for him. £10m a year would be worth it :)

9.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:44:30
Hearing it’s £12m rising to £15m 50-100% profit in 1 year will do me. He was good at start at at the end of the season when it mattered but was a bit off it in the middle tbh.
If he agrees terms to move there then he clearly only cares about the money his loss.

10.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:45:39
It could be Joao Felipe, who’s another Portuguese player, and not our Jota.

11.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 16:54:10
If its true, we can expect to get crazy money for him. Upwards of 25 million I would imagine? Loose change to the Saudis.

12.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 17:29:18
Apparently Benfica have a %30 sell on So my guess is it will have to be atleast 30 million or north of that for us to sell him at this stage with 4 years left in his contract.

13.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 17:45:02
I don't believe we will get as much as u all think he's good but definitely not £30m even to the saudis, he's a good but not a player we can't go on without, if we could use the money to keep abada and hatate and get another player or 2 in I would be really happy, he's a bit injury prone and then takes a few weeks to get back to his game.

14.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 18:17:27
My thoughts exactly Lawman, the two reports seem to have came from x1 Saudi based and x2 Glasgow papers/ sites. It really wouldn't surprised me if they are up to their usual p*sh.

15.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 18:48:41
GGGG you must extracting the urine if you think we will accept £12m for a player we paid £6.5m for last summer and has 4yrs on his contract.

16.) 29 Jun 2023

The retirement league for the rich.

17.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 19:17:29
Surely nothing less than £30 million. It's Saudis I don't expect it's the most attractive league for Jota but a decent salary. The Saudi league has money to throw at the game and if they are paying ridiculous fees for players approaching retiring and mediocre EPL teams players they can dig out £30 million for Jota.

There is a 30-35% on anything over 6.5 million so that's at least £16.5 million profit for us (£23 million in the bank) . I'd expect that to be reused with the £20-30 million allegedly promised to Rodgers.

Hopefully this is us taking the next big step in financial play for Europe.

If, as what all the sound bites suggest that we’re a team looking to make progressive steps in Eury why are we looking to sell at first club that flickers its eyes to one of our top performers?
There’s also this irritating point of a glass ceiling of selling our players at £20-25 million, why?
Similar sized countries like Holland and Portugal sell their players for significantly higher sums though overall quality of league not that different.

19.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 20:11:30
Hugo the Dutch and Portuguese leagues are far more competitive than our own, the players produced in those two countries are remarkable in contrast to the players produced in our country!

There is however no reason why we wouldn't sell Hetate for say £30m when the time comes, as that's the top end we should expect, however there are still players in the market who are being sold for less than expected, I think 18m for Loftus cheek is a bargain, depends who the buying club are.

However across the city all these loan deals and players coming in out of contract smells like financial woes to me.

Let's get Sivert Mannsverk signed from Molde, great player would free up cal mac to move forward.

I would be really surprised if the Jota rumour was true, he doesn't exactly fit the profile of players moving there. If it is true then I would imagine we would get max around £20 mil for him, which is still very good business and we move on.

21.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 21:45:46
With a 30% sell on clause it would have to be a lot more than twenty million to make it worth while, neare forty millions, I would hope if it's true.

{Ed007's Note - If we can get £25 million for Jota we'll clear circa £19.5 million but if that is all we get it is time to get Daddy Lawwell sitting on these negotiations?

22.) 29 Jun 2023
29 Jun 2023 22:48:31
John boy Benfica get 30% sell on not profit but 30% that’s why £20-25m would see us net £14-17m I believe it will be in that bracket which is still great profit for £6.5m only last season and 2 seasons we had him in total.

{Ed007's Note - It"s 30% of any profit Benfica are due.

Even better ££££££.

First that abomination of our new strip, now Jota? I had a feeling us going for two wingers meant players leaving, Abada, and Jota next season, but both, especially Jota, as I am fine with Abada going for a reasonable fee. Well that football in Scotland, we can’t hold onto anyone for any length of time. Like always, we move on. Sad as it is it’s just the way it is.
