Can anyone help me understand why we are getting Idah on loan with no option to buy?
Loan signings are bad enough but I can see the thinking that we can try before we buy like CCV or Jota. Now we're back to giving other teams a platform for their player without any benefits for us long term. Say Idah signs and has a brilliant end of the season, he goes back to Norwich and we're in the same position we are in now only we've paid someone else's wages and they can flog him for X amount.

Really hoping we pull something out of the bag, not long until its over and we have to hit the ground running against Aberdeen away.

It looks like extra cover for the next 5 months and then we will look at a permanent striker signing in the summer.

2.) 31 Jan 2024 13:03:07
I get that Buzz but if we're going to pay Norwich Idah's wages to cover 4 months then send him back we'd be as well just throwing Joey Dawson or some U21 striker on the bench, the Asian Cup Final is Feb 10th so its only another 10 days max till Oh and Maeda are back anyway.

Seems like we are grasping at straws, it's also strange that the Idah story broke as soon as South Korea made it through after pens yesterday. If they were knocked out would we have just left it and waited till Oh and Yang got home?

Seems we are holding back in this window with maybe a bit of apprehension and unwillingness to spend until the season is over. There's no other reason why we didn't go all out for a striker - and other positions for that matter? It better work as it's a big gamble and another sign that maybe manager and Board are not in tandem.

4.) 31 Jan 2024 13:34:50
The Board are taking a huge gamble BelfastBhoy and I’m not sure they will get away with it.

5.) 31 Jan 2024 14:47:39
Truely and honestly do not get this wait until summer nonsense. Wait for what? Till we blow the £60 M. Scouting players should be an ongoing process that assesses cost and availability and likely hood of signing with a set of targets ready to go when window opens. It sounds like our lot sit in a dark room with a stopwatch waiting to get started. Come summer it’s likely that we will lose some of our top players, just increasing the work already required leaving us playing catch up again. Then what? Wait till the following summer!

6.) 31 Jan 2024 19:37:12
The Board are really gambling, especially when we are having our best players going down injured, falling like flies, on top of that our only effective lB Taylor is out too. We don’t know for sure when any of them will be back . If we had been active in market the injuries may not have affected us .
Rangers seem to have their problems with injuries Danielo Roofe and Sima all out for season.

I wouldn't be too worried bhoys, I'm sure we are going to do some work throughout the window and get some players in. The fear that we all have is cause of the cheap mentality from the past, last day of the window trying to get Leon Best on loan for example but I think we're well past that now.

I would be happy to get a left back to slide straight in or at least someone that can rival and push Taylor. A number 6 who can break up the play and command the midfield, and a winger that can cover up top or vice versa. Meaning in the Summer we can go for a keeper and look at what we need for Europe.

Apparently we are in for Kuhn, I've seen some people happy about it and others not so happy. Personally, I think he could do some damage and add another option to the team. Some people think if a player is under the age of 26/ 27 then they're a 'project' player but its more quality over quantity, a young player who has played a number of games and been at clubs who demand success is what we need oppose to lads who have been round the block and have nothing to show.

Plenty of time.

BelfastBhoy

Thanks very much for your positivity it’s appreciated and very much feckn needed.

Where are you from my friend?

2.) 11 Jan 2024 00:09:31
A good positive post from the Belfastbhoy . It’s always nice to read positive posts rather than come across the same negatIve posts from the same negative posters repeating the same message .
The truth of the situation is that none of us supporters have a notion what is happening, we could be very close to signing 2/ 3 players that are likely to improve our team or we might. have. got nowhere .
In the opening days of windows many. fans thought that McKenna was our first signing, which shows how little we, supporters know, as BR said we had no interest.

That's Holm Signed 5 year deal. Well done, first move of the window, could end up being a serious player for the team.

That assessment of Oh is very harsh. One of his main attributes is passing he's in the 75% pass completion and is in the 72 Percentile for key passes per 90.
On average he has 4.36 shots every 90mins. In 45 games he's scored 13, within that 45 he has only started 6 times and scored 2 last minute winners, if he's playing every week in Scotland we'd be linked with him like we are Miovski or Shankland.
I don't think we could find a striker to sit behind Kyogo and still get high scoring stats with coming off the bench every other game for 15 mins max.

I get what you’re saying mate but let’s look at what Bayer Leverkusen offer players compared to us. Grimaldo is on 99k a week, Xhaka is 68k and Hoffman is 66k before we get into the fact that the Bundesliga is a massive league with big teams and the lifestyle in Germany is completely different to Scotland.

I know you mean that we should do something similar but the potential pool of players we would be in for is players that lower championship and league one teams are competing for. Our best bet is to try to buy young promising players but also trying to find players like Juranovic and in the past Hinkel who are competing in European leagues but aren’t at clubs who can promote them internationally or offer CL or EL.

Hi JFP1888,

I think the old artefacts have been moved into the new museum, they have done up the bar and the restaurant recently too, apparently the food is great if you're ever about that way.

The Divis flats are still alive and kicking at the minute, the Ballymurphy estate is there too. Can't say I've been down that way in a good while but as far as I know.

The PD and the Felons have been done up for a few years now too, brilliant spots.
