I might have guessed the Maloney back to celtic right. Bback page headline in tomorrow's paper has RD admitting to a celtic interest. Thoughts on a Maloney return? I'd love to have him on the left of the '3'. Markie

Hate ex players coming back and he's done it once already and was rubbish so not changing ma mind this time

2.) Not for me. Good player for us in the past but don't really see the point of signing him again

3.) Would rather have Commons, give him his two year contract, not as injury prone as Shaun
Tambhoy

4.) We won't give commons his 2 year contract seemingly because of his age but will give Maloney a decent pay & he's 32? Doesn't add up to me to me commons better player better goalscorer, I like Shaun but don't see the point in signing him again.

JAckie Mac has confirmed celtic have made verbal contact with UNT regarding GMS. I think he's better than the left sided players we have on loan but I'm worried we are going for him instead of Armstrong because he's the cheaper option. We should still buy Armstrong. 3 million would be an investment we would definitely score more when he moves on. Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) I think the GMS interest is to let him know Celtic are interested. They could sign him now for a small fee or get him for nothing at the end of the season. By all accounts he seems to want to try English football again after failing to succeed at Liverpool after signing from Ross County as a 16 year old in 2007.His whole career has been plagued by injury and it appears now he has grown and matured into the talented player spotted by Liverpool. Whether he wishes to remain in Scotland is not known but his head may be turned by Celtic's approach to Utd. My own opinion is that he is a talent but as we always see with players like GMS consistency is the key.I do however believe he is an entertainer who the fans would love but I don't think his signing if it happens would rule out moves for Armstrong or Ciftci etc.

I was reading arsenal are interested in wanyamma for 15 mill and we would be due a 25% sell on few.anyone know if this 25% sell on fee is correct? Edd? Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) Not heard anything mate, but sounds legit. he's still young and going to get better so wouldn't be surprised

2.) Arsenal are interested in Southampton's other defensive midfielder Schneiderlin not Wanyama

3.) I don't think they put a sell on fee in the deal that's why we got so much for him.

On the JG page it says there are rumours Ronny is after Anya! No idea how reliable that is as I have just been added to it. If we get JG signed, sign Anya and keep Virgil till the summer I will be delighted! Markie

Anyone heard anything about a Nigerian striker we are supposedly interested in? Playes in Israel. Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) Kayode, Just seen the reports. He's scored 5 in 7 this season and is meant to be on the verge of breaking into the Nigeria squad. His agent has done us deals for Ambrose, Gershon, Bitton and Kayal so that deals looking promising, Standard Liege is interested too

2.) Cheers bud. markie

Something has often intrigued me. Scottish sides are producing a lot if talent, there is a huge list if people like MacArthur, McCarthy, Robertson, May, the list goes on and looking at the paper every day English clubs are looking at guys like the young Hamilton fullback, wighton from Dundee etc etc. Now celtics youths win the league almost every year, so in theory we have the best in the country. Why does this not show up then? Why is our history of discarding people like Robertson coming back to haunt us, and why can't we scout McCarthys and Mcarthers before clubs like Hamilton? Something doesn't seem right to me at our youth set up. Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) Our problem for as long as I can remember is a failure to play young players. Years ago a young player was blooded in through the season, a league cup game or when the league was one usually, this does not happen any more.

The loss of the reserve league was also a mistake, young players got the chance to play against more experienced players, usually coming back from injury, this was part of the learning curve.

Lets not forget our part in this as well. Too many supporters look for money signings. If we announced we had signed Robertson the usual crew would have been shouting about lack of ambition etc. If a young guy makes the first team he should be encouraged, I get sick to death of the moaning at Celtic Park when a player induces loud groans, and worse for passing back to keep possession.

2.) Arguably we have done relatively poorly since maybe the 'Quality Street Kids' at producing a batch of really outstanding class players.
It is a concern that we tend to release the majority of our youth players year in year out - as obviously there was something special in them for a club like Celtic to have signed them?
The club would say that to maintain a level of success, they have to bring in quality players on transfers, but in recent years the quality has fallen significantly with cash restraints etc.
On the other hand we could look at McGregor, Henderson, Fisher and Forrest and say that our policy is working and unlike Hamilton and other provincial clubs we won't encourage bids, but would consider loans?

3.) The problem is Markie other clubs can afford to blood the young boys in.

Could you imagine what the fans would do to these youngsters for having a poor run of form. Big Efe and sometimes its merited is hammered, Forrest, Stokes and even greedy Commons all get it plus many more.

Hamilton for example played McCarthy and McArhtur regardless of there form allowing them to develop and also it took a few years before they showed what they could become and now its all big money moves.

Henderson is a good player of our own, with Armstrong and Brown this would create good competition - far better than that offered by Biton, Kayal etc

4.) Aye, a lot of good points guys. Markie

5.) McGregor gets a lot of stick for underperforming in the team

6.) 15 Jan 2015 01:23:50
I think it may be a bit difficult for Deila to experiment with youth at this stage, cause now in his first season its all about survival in his mind I think. I think you will see more next season when he has (hopefully) won something and can lower his shoulders a bit more.
And if it takes more than 6 months for 1 team players to catch his style of football, you can extend that with another year for youth players to adapt to it.
Its just a matter of him given the right amount of time to get it right. Maybe he wouldnt, but you will see a better youth setup, no doubt either way.

10 Jan 2015 15:00:30
Got beat 1-0 but the worst thing is Scott brown going off injured after 5 mins. Please don't be anything that puts him out for a while as we have nothing in our squad that could replace him. Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) Did you see any of the game? Just curious to see what teams both played.

2.) Never seen it Kevin . Celtic were strong though. Gudetti played in the '3' and sepovic up front. Markie

3.) 10 Jan 2015 16:52:10
I seen it and we were rank rotten like we've been all season, I'm not familiar with the PSV side but they started with a couple of 17 year olds, and commentator said Celtic have started with a much stronger looking team than PSV. They were a yard quicker than us as usual when we play a European side this season, this crap about our fitness under Ronny is just nonsence. We weren't good last season but we're twice as bad this season . Don't even bother calling me a Ronny hater and want him to fail because all that crap is just getting boring, the facts are there to see we're rank rotten, I also disagree with the nonsense on here that we're still in 4 competitions and in a better position than our poor season last season, at least last season we qualified for champions league football. I pray that DN30 and all other posters that are refusing to admit we're very poor under Deila and Collins come back at the end of the season after the treble is won and give us doubters pelters .

4.) 10 Jan 2015 17:05:44
Couldn't agree more stevie! Watched it to.given the run around by psv reserves! And u hit the nail on the head mate, all this celtic haters and rd haters is one load of rubbish! We were 1 point behind in the league and we're sunning it abroad! Now we're 4 behind, brown and guedditti injured and beat by Psv youngsters! What was the point?? Rd said in the paper today we'll be stronger by Febuary! I really hope so! And I've noticed a lot of posters sayin Aberdeen will defo slip up! It shows u how much we've slipped when we're all hoping they slip up! And also someone said Adeen Dundee utd are stronger! Please wake up and see its us how have got worse not them getting stronger! How many new players did both these teams sign that's made this massive difference?? Stop kidding urselfs on eh!

5.) I am surprised that the last two enthusiastic posters who were full of encouragement for Deila and his players didn't give Virgil the abuse posters like them usualy hurl at Ambrose. Virgil today headed weakly across his own goal and conceded the goal. Virgil also put a forward clear by striking the ball off the corner flag and into the path of the attacker, he also hit his own cross - bar with the goal-keeper beaten .
I know I am a bit harsh on Virgil, who also did many good things during the match .
I wasn't one bit surprised that at times the Dutch team seemed to have an edge on us . However we also had good periods, the main thing about this trip according to Deila was for bonding and getting warm weather training . I presume that included hard sessions of training on Friday which would not be good preparation for playing today . I don't think the actual result today or on Tuesday would have been the most important part of the exercise .

6.) Danny, we don't need Aberdeen or any club to slip up .
It says a lot for your anger and hatred of Deila and the team that you use the result of a meaningless friendly to display your ignorance of Celtic .

7.) The goal scorer is a player valued at 20 million, now that ain't a reserve player? Just to be clear all European Teams have been a yard quicker than Celtic, even back when we got to Seville.

Now the football is not great no one denies this, our squad is poorer compared to previous years again no one denies this. What is getting people annoyed is that its all down to our so called 5th choice manager how as the facts show has us in 4 competitions after Europe in his first season whilst rebuilding our whole club, a fantastic achievement.

For the record The facts show Aberdeen and Dundee Utd are stronger. It's called a league table, refer to the Win Draw Lose and Points section.

8.) 10 Jan 2015 19:24:16
Chris I can't defend anything about this current Celtic side never mind trying to defend individuals like Virgil, to me he's pretty mediocre, at least tell the truth when he hit his own crossbar, it was a shot towards goal which he was a yard away from and attempted to block that hit the top of his foot and looped over the keeper onto the bar

9.) Stevie people who follow Celtic like you do ( glass half empty ) guy . Many can't wait to get at Ambrose and I was trying to be sarcastic blaming Virgil for the deflection on to crossbar . The thing is many would have jumped to blame Ambrose for a similar deflection .
I have regularly said that c. ts on here can't wait to blame Ambrose, yet no one mentioned Virgil today .
Stevie you really showed yourself up with your post. A Celtic supporter who can't speak good of any Celtic player.

10.) I used to hate your posts Chris02 but you are my favourite poster now purely because you are so annoying, Keep it up. HH

11.) 10 Jan 2015 22:52:12
Chris stop trying to defend mediocrity for our club, before you know it our standards will have slipped so far we will be the laughing stock of European football and maybe even Scottish football.

12.) Stevie you're talking rubbish

13.) Nice editing Ed lol

Rayman, ttts, I think DN30 is at the wind up with you guys. I can't believe he's that paranoid lol. Markie

1.) Couldnt resist markie lol

Does anyone else think Sean Maloney is a steal at 1 million and would fit perfect into RDs system and way of playing. I no some will say you should never go back but I think he's way better than some of the attacking options we have. Markie

Markiebhoys

1.) Was disappointed when he left (both times) but not what we need now imo. A great player but we need a younger version!

2.) I can see where you are going with this Markie you like anya too mate so it is the same system Strachan now deploys as RD is trying 4-2-3-1
so there is some fluency there

A here Maloney is on Circa 40k a week so we would get nowhere near that IMO

On a separate note the other night for the first time as far as I could see he played Johnansen on the right who is a left footer but did alternate with Commons that found Commons at the head of the three or in behind the "hole" where he was so effective last season and the other night and Henderson on the left that is the way the clever managers play a 4-2-3-1 system IMO where the have I E a right footed player play on the left so when he cuts back in he does so onto his his strong foot! he has tried to play LG out there on the right but to no great effect

But at least RD might have found a better formula

ATVB JB7

3.) Yip. Also disappointed on the occasion of his two departures. Never understood that. I imagine he and Emilio would link up well.

4.) I think he could of went onto better things if it wasnt for injuries. A great player for us when he was on form

5.) If he stays fit he is a great player. But his second spell was plagued by injury and inconsistency. Like an earlier post says we'd struggle to match his wages.

6.) 07 Jan 2015 19:35:00
Personally a think he's overrated always has been, a remember when we brought him back the 1st time and folk were going nuts now at 30/31 people would have him back to the club for a 3rd time lol i'd take anya over maloney everytime

7.) Agree its a steal and if fit would thrive in this system he's the type of payer we need but he is struggling with fitness that's why Wigan are cashing in and we have enough sick notes on the books as it is

8.) Re Sean, I recall when he signed foir us 2nd time around. He said he was delighted to get a second chance with Celtic and was determined to repay great supporters and a great club. I was expecting some super stuff from Sean but it just didn't happen. Don't know why. As for a third spell with us I don't think we'd get him anyway. Better spend money keeping Kris, clever, entertaining and great with both feet. Love the way he keeps having a go at goal.

9.) Maybe it will be third time lucky for Celtic and Maloney if he signed again . On the odd ocassion Shaun was unplayable for us, on other occasions he seemed to be in the sick bay for ever. A good fit Maloney would be a good asset, but is there a good fit Maloney .

04 Jan 2015 09:53:39
RD isn't concerned about Aberdeen going top because 'if we win all our remaining games we will be champions' I'm concerned because at the moment we are dropping points at an average of once every 3 games. What is going to happen in the second half of the season that is going to change this? Because as well as dropping points in all those games how many games have been won with a struggle? Markie.

Markiebhoys

1.) The players are too inconsistent and careless (either in front of goal, playing the final pass or defending) and these basic errors have to stop.
Even though we are short of class ourselves, man-for-man we have the best squad in Scotland and we need to show it consistently and fight to regain the title and win the cups.
They have had an extended break to prepare and now, need to show the appetite and desire of Champions, starting at Rugby Park with nothing less than 3pts and set a marker for the rest of January - and beyond.

2.) Markie I hope your not showing concerns over rd. ha ha. Prepare for a back lash. I think we should be ok to win the league. But the fact I only think we will is a concern on its own. We could even win the treble. here is a question for you mate. And I would struggle to answer this. Would you rather have our current set up and win a treble. Or the Seville team who ended up winning nothing that season but we will never forget it.

3.) Aberdeen won't go through the season without dropping points. I've already stuck a tenner on Motherwell for the win today.

4.) I will be watching the Manchester United game but I wish you all the best with your bet Rab and that would also sicken the Sevco - driven media who have adopted the mutton molesters as their pets.

5.) Jungle Jim
Have you just a part time interest in Scottish football?
Anyone that would prefer Manchester Utd playing against minnows instead of an SpL match seems very part time to me . Of course you are entitled to watch what you want, but it does diminish your views on Celtic and Scottish football in my view .

{Ed007's Note - I watched the Man Utd game.....

6.) I watched the Motherwell v Aberdeen game but wished I'd watched Manchester United haha but seriously Aberdeen bossed the game and Motherwell didn't offer much until they brought on a couple of bright young players too late in the game to influence it.

7.) You are the Ed, I am not going to fault you for your choice of viewing 🐥

We all know and are indebted to the amount of time and expertise you give to SPL and Celtic in particular .

{Ed007's Note - At least I was watching a team in green & white hoops! I told my Mrs I was watching a DVD of our 2006 CL match against Utd and she looked at the TV and said 'You need help, is there no live games on?'. (fubar)

And don't be surprised if he thrives down in England. In my humble opinion he actually has all the skills to be a top defender. He is fast, athletic, good in the air, can tackle, has actually got reasonably good ability on the ball. The thing that let's him down is the mistakes he makes which usually turn out costly. Others must see the abilities and think that the mistakes can be coached out of him, maybe turning a player they spent a couple of million on into top defender that they can sell on for profit. They must see something on him. Markie

I'll take your word for it that he's rubbish, you sound like you know what your talking about. If he's that bad and we are interested then maybe you should be doing john parks job ed as he must be rubbish to. Markie

Markiebhoys

{Ed007's Note - If you've seen Doyle playing you'd know for yourself, if you've not seen him how do you know he's worth a punt, because he's Irish? I've said before Park is a total failure when it comes to spotting strikers, none that he has recommended have been a success so I guess I would be better, nice of you to notice and say though, thanks.}

I had the same initial thoughts as you guys but after reading about him he could be worth a punt at the money quoted. B4 hibs he was a scoring sensation at Sligo rovers, didn't do well at hibs but they played him out of position out wide. Now scoring goals for fun at Chesterfield and attracting a lot of bigger clubs not just us. So surely worth a punt? Markie

Markiebhoys

{Ed007's Note - Just like Balde, Bangura, Pukki Daryl Murphy, Griffiths and Lassad were all worth a punt.}

Be around 4 million for the pair. No way we will spend that unless we pull in at least that from player sales. If Van Dike stays in January and we spend 3 million on gudetti then I will be gobsmacked if PL allows any more money to be spent. Markie
