Ed

Listened back to podcast good stuff your bang on with your profile of Nat Philips by all accounts. I haven't seen him but heard the Anfield Wrap fella describing him as 'a throwback' loved at Liverpool for that very reason. Loses nothing in the air and quote stats are better than VVD in that respect by a good margin. Likes a tackle and wins his duals. As you say possibly lacks pace. Delighted he's in place for tomorrow rather than Scales. He's exactly what we needed.

On a less positive note I posted the other day before window closed that it wasn't looking good although I was living in hope rather than expectation. I don't understand the positivity on here about the window by a long shot.

As I said for me we've failed to strengthen from a position of strength.

Rodgers told the board he needed quality. What happened to going to the next level and competing in Europe?

Season tickets sold out in that hope.

Absolute bollock$.

No ball winner in the middle of the park. No goalkeeper no left back replacement for Bernebei to challenge Taylor. No goalkeeper. No target man.

The Spurs manager had to tell them when asked about recruitment it was too slow but he obviously had enough clout to make them get the finger out. It doesn't look like Brendan has the same authority.

A 1 year loan and a 6 month loan that doesn't appear even to have an option to buy to close the window as we waited with bated breath. I think you used the world underwhelming. It's that and more. Demoralising.

£25 million for Jota alone and £5m for Starfelt tomorrow and we're rocking up at Ibrox with many Celtic supporters talking about settling for a draw against a rebuilt tribute act.

If we'd signed two first team experienced quality starters it would have put a marker down after they got pumped in Europe and we'd be going there with a swagger and with them having doubt in their minds but we failed to capitalise.

Absolutely pathetic Celtic.

Asleep at the wheel again and learned nothing from the season we sold the 10.

The board have shown a total lack of ambition for me to the extent it's embarrassing. We'd a chance to strengthen for Europe with an elite manager at the helm who we'd all got behind whether we wanted him as manager or not and an opportunity to put our foot back on their neck to make sure of the league and guarantee automatic qualification for Champions League with what's at stake their financially.

They heard the anger after the St Johnstone game yet have failed to act.

Big club small mentality.

Depressing.

We've been had and short changed again.

It's maybe time for a change at board level and while he shouldn't have any power in his position as you've often stated it's hard not to have the Peter Lawell return thought at the back of your mind and potential influence on his boy. Who knows. Where's Dermot Desmond in all of this he was key to bringing Brendan back and the board have failed to back him. That should concern him.

I really don't understand and lost for words and haven't heard even half an explanation worthy of discussion.

Negligence.

Disappointed and disillusioned.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks, John and another cracker of a post from you ??

Great post JFP1888, hard to disagree with the vast majority of what you wrote, only thing I’d say is when you say “ a manager who we all got behind”…. I definitely feel there’s an element of our support desperate for Brendan to fail so they can say “ told you so”……… he’s here no matter the opinions and he needs 100% backing from the support, and I for 1 hope he’s the biggest smile on his face walking out of ibrox tomorrow ??.

Excellent post JFP,
You’re absolutely spot on with everything you mentioned.

I nominate JFP for a seat on the Celtic Board.

1 winger out 3 in
Starfelt left injuries.3 brought in
Midfielder retired 3 brought in.
GK yes needed but the boo boys now on JH.
Taylor and Bernabei will get the same as Joe. LB and target man and Midfield muscle is required but for now you can only pee with the boaby you have got Dominate that lots Midfield tomorrow. Attack Tavpen and Barasic on the wings. Finish off the chances created and we will overcome 50,000 orcs, their players, officals and VAR for a beautiful Sunday heading into the international break. A break? Bloody just back! A draw will keep the calm. A loss we will have 2 weeks of everyone anyone connected to the club getting pelters and BR is blah blah blah. The rookie rent a mouth losses and he will be hunted down and targeted by ra peeepel!

Completely agree JFP, especially regarding Lawells return and what would seem a return to the old ways. Whilst he is supposed to have no input, I would think the majority of fans think he has his fingers in the pie again, either through his son or his understudy or protege .

I think we had a run of signing established players for a few years and while Jota who wasn't established has made us a sizeable profit, the rest of our transfers haven't. Partially down to the contracts McKay dealt with so maybe Papa Lawwel has had a word in his boys ear and said buying young and cheap to make profit was the way to go. Even after BR said about getting in experienced players we still signed Bernardo who is only 21. I'm still pretty happy with the business done this window, particularly getting shot of the deadwood. Hopefully BR can develop these young talents quickly and we can kick on and start blowing teams away, starting with tomorrow!
