It's an offer you can easily reject as the selling club, though. Losing O'Riley for the second half of the season without the transfer fee up front, and this late in the window, doesn't benefit Celtic in any way.

Life changing move for him if there is any truth in it, thankfully the club are in a very strong negotiating position with the new deal he signed. It would be a major loss to lose him in this window but there’s nothing the club can do if Matt decides he wants to move in this window, a midfield three of mcgregor, hatate and bernardo would still be strong enough to go and win the league, we would however need to sign a quality replacement for depth.

No way will he be let go this window however it will be difficult to hold onto him in the summer if Athletico or any other club come back in for him ?.

Of course the club can reject it but as my post states for ORiley that’s probably impossible to turn down. Moving to Atletico doubles/ triples wages and puts his name right up there for the national team. Atletico have an aging midfield and he probably thinks he can solidify his place as a started. Atletico are much bigger than us nowadays. We are a selling club and we will not improve under the old codgers running this club into mediocrity.

If they want him then they need to show us the colour of their money, if Lawwell sanctions a loan deal he should be run out of town for good .
