During the recent international break Ronnie Deila was in Norway watching the national team play.

This was a part educational visit and part scouting mission.

One of his main points of interest was Havard Nielsen, who came on as a sub in the 5-1 defeat by Croatia. He's a young striker who is on loan from Red Bull Salzburg to a German 2nd division team.

There has also been Celtic scouts watching Ali Adnan who plays in Turkey.

Like the sound of Adnan tall LB and from the little I saw would be good back up (if not replacment) for Izzy

Commons is very unhappy at what is happening at Celtic at the moment and has made the club aware that he would like to leave.

The dressing room is already proving to be a uncomfortable place as many of the more senior guys are unhappy with the drastic changes in training and in the setup. The younger guys have embraced the change along with the foreigners, but the senior Scottish players have apparently been a bit stubborn.

As I've posted before Virgil, much like Forster was told that he could leave if we didn't make the CL and so he will be moving on before the window closes if we receive a offer of 8mil.

The club have also told Zaluksa, Balde, Griffiths, Boeriggter, Rogic, Atajic and McGeouch that if offers come then the player can leave.

Griffiths will not be joining Hibs though as they can't finance the deal. A few of the young guys will also be sent on loan, with Notts County looking at Twardzik and possibly McGeouch if he's not sold.

Scepovic should be announced tomorrow or Monday, and there are bids in for 5 other players, with the hope of signing 2 or 3 by Monday.

One of whom is Gustav Wikheim from Stromsgodset, so it looks like Deila has decided to get in another guy he knows is comfortable with his way. The others are unknown so far.

Tbh there is none of they players i'll be that bothered about moving on even commons. Aye was a brilliant player last season and basically carried us with his goals but at 30 we won't get another chance to get a fee for him plus he just isn't good enough for europe same as most of our players

2.) Obviously commons wouldn't be chuffed about being benched but this was a tactical decision. Sure scott brown said not too long ago the training was great, but I agree withlast message, I would sell kc he is too slow, and our last chance to obtain a fee for a 30+ player

3.) I think you are selling Commons a bit short there GunnieBhoy, Commons deserves a medal for what he has done for us last season (no pun intended). We don't need a fee for him, we are rolling in it! We need him to do what he done last year. He was good enough for Europe before so he must still be. If it wasn't for Commons, last year would have been a different story. Commons is not the problem we have, he has solved us more problems than he has ever caused. 30 is not old, he has lots left.

4.) The way I'm told it is that Commons isn't overly taken with the new management team, and he wasn't happy with the contract offer at the start of the summer either. With no sign of a better offer coming and the current system change not suiting him, he has decided that if a offer comes from the epl then he'll go back down south and take what will be his last big contract.

It was also noted that Deila and Collins have spoken positively about Watt, Griffiths and a few others but then those same guys have been told they aren't in the managers plans or in Commons case been dropped to the bench. This has upset a few players as they feel the club is making it seem like certain players are causing problems.

Imo if it was me I would be unamused and would find it hard to support the changes, especially when you are looking at loan guys coming in to take your place. None of whom are coming off the back of any success at all.

This could be a long season.

5.) Ed do you know of bids for 5 players and an intention on our part to sign 2 or 3 more by the deadline? I was just expecting Scepovic and possibly a Van Dijk replacement if he is sold

{Ed007's Note - No.}

6.) 30 Aug 2014 22:06:06
I agree for the most part about loans not being the way forward, however at 31, neither is Commons. Don't get me wrong, he's been a great signing for us but if an offer comes in, we should take it.

Get rid of the deadwood as well, free up the wage bill to make a couple more signings. Hopefully although unlikely keep Van Dijk.

I know Ronny hasn't made the best start but he needs to be given a proper shot at this. If the players are moaning about changes to the training methods then get them to ****. The wages they're on and the performances they've given so far in return has not been acceptable. We should get behind the manager, not the players and inflate their egos even more.

7.) Doboworth
Totally agree with you the players get a good pay for doing not a lot recently go with the changes give the manager a chance and you never know things might just work out it's amasing how it's the Brit players moaning and the others just getting on with it maybe they need to take a good look at themselves and embrace the changes.

8.) I'm not suggesting I support certain players reactions to the new setup, however everyone knows that a few bad results doesn't end up with players being sacked.

There has been a good social scene amongst players over the last few years, but with guys who were considered leaders like Hooper and Forster going that has left a big void on and off the pitch. Guys like Commons and Brown are key figures in the same way, we currently can't afford to lose them during a really important period for theclub imo.

Browns contract talks are due to start over the international break so we will see what the clubs intentions are with him shortly.

9.) Don't remember anyone saying get rid of lubo and he was 33 and just as slow as commons. becareful what you wish for.lots o moans about club sellin best players and not replacing.Pot and kettle, commons is our best player or 1 of. what's the chances o getting better without 5m spent?

10.) Rayman

commons and lobo were different breeds….and should not be compared…

totally different players with different skills sets

11.) Fran respect your post but really don't understand the part u said commons was good enough for europe before? any game iv seen him in europe even last season when he was bang on form he was rotten. He isn't fit enough for the cl tbh he looks knackered after an attack and at that level we need players who will get up and down the park especially away games. Just my opinion if we are going 2 sell him then better doing it now while he is till youngish 30 isn't old so would get a decent price

12.) @paradise, that's where your completely wrong, different player different times obv, but the main thing here is they were 1 o our better players. period, don't go slagging the board off about sellin our best players when you doing the same thing.

13.) 31 Aug 2014 09:37:14
Peter Lawell tells us Celtic are one of the best run clubs in the world? Peter Lawell also states that the loss of Rangers has cost Celtic £10million a season. I don't agree with either statements. Firstly when teams such as Liega Warsaw and Maribor beat us in a competition that generates us £15 mill and we have a football budget of £32 mill wich dwarfs the money available to Warsaw and Maribor then how do you justify the first statement? We are as far away financially from Maribor as Real Madrid are to us. So Mr Lawell, your definition of best run club can onlybe about our balance sheet and not our standard of play. (The product on the pitch).You have money in the bank because we can't help ourselves. We have an addiction and that addiction is Celtic FC. You are not providing a quality product at this moment, and some of the Celtic addicts or supporters as you know them, are now in remission and that will continue ( with or without Rangers), and due to the product, fewer season tickets are being sold. Understand Mr Lawell it's about he product. We now have a poor product on the pitch overseen by an inexperienced manager. Winning the league this season is not a given!
Point 2, losing £10mill a season due to Rangers demise is stretching the truth. We can all do the maths and at best even allowing for a drop in season ticket sales at full price is about £13mill at worst over 2 seasons not £10 mill a season. £13 mill down is still a lot of money, however why drop the price by £100? That is around £5.00 off per match. I will gladly pay the extra £5.00 if the product is right but it's not. We sell less season tickets and less supporters come to matches because the product us poor. If you were in any other business and ran your company on the basis that you run Celtic you would be facing losses. So please if you must spin a story, do your sums first. Finally, I believe Serb striker Stefan Scepovic is not coming to Ctic due to the salary offered to him? So we again are going to have a poor product for 2014/15 season? You have a playing budget of £32million and the product is poor. So if you want to tell us we are the best run club in the world, make better use of the £32million. That is you job Mr Lawell, when are you going to start to do it?

14.) Commons was good last year but the year before was honking if he ain't willing to adapt so be it
Griffiths should never have been at celtic in the 1st place
Can't believe ambrose is not on the list

15.) Is keeping the better players not the same as investing in the team? So what if we don't get a fee for Commons in a couple of years? If we get 2 decent years from him is it not a good idea to keep him?

16.) Commons is undoubtedly unhappy because the new management want the team to actually do training. its disgusting that these players are being asked to do any physical exertion for their 1000's of pounds a week wages. its not as if they are professional athletes!?!

17.) You know what Commons is not the manager of Celtic, so if he ain't happy about having to actually train then he can go.

SPL level player at best, a ghost in Europe and so far this season very very poor.

Celtic are looking to a possible swap deal with Lokeren using their interest in Balde as part of a deal to sign Hans Vanaken or Alexander Scholz.

Lokeren would want a additional million for Vanaken, Where as Scholz would likely be a straight swap deal.

There has also been contact with Rijeka about Kramaric, however this would likely fail unless Celtic make the CL as the fee would be around 3.5mil

No one will be signing from Stromsgodset.

Forster and Van Dijk's agents have both had meetings in Glasgow in the last 3 weeks and both have been told that Celtic are open to offers but they won't be sold until after the CL situation is known.

Commons isn't likely to sign a new deal in the near future as the club have offered him 2 years at 16k per week. A offer that's less than he currently earns, coming off the back of a brilliant season, it wasn't well received.

Lastly Griffiths has had discussions with Deila about his position as he is unhappy about being played as a winger. This is why he didn't start against Legia.

These are a list of players in my opinion who would be within our budget and do and who would improve on what we have or at the very worst provide good competition.

Left Backs::

Eren Albayrak - Rizespor

A very attack minded full back who has good delivery as he was originally a winger. His move to left back has done him the power of good as he is very good at timing his runs past the midfielder infront of him. Defensively he is strong enough. Much like Izzy he sometimes suffers because he is up and down the pitch a lot but a good player imo.

Fabio Deprela - Palermo

He's on the fringes of things at Palermo but any time I've seen him play he has good ability. Decent defensively, not the most attack minded but that could be more about the way Italian football is played so it's hard to tell how great he going forward. Capped by Switzerland at all youth levels and was a youth player at West Ham.

Laurens De Bock - Club Brugge

A more steady left back defensively you will struggle to find within our price ranges. This guy is a more than capable defender and has plenty of European experience for a 22 year old. He's not high up the charts for assists but again Brugge play in a manner than see's the defence doing pretty much just that, while the midfielders and attacking players are given more freedom. Works well for them as they were easily the highest scoring team in Belgium last season.

Central Defenders::

Loic Perrin - St.Etienne

This goes against the grain for us just now as Perrin is 30 years old. However if Virgil goes and we are looking for a leader then look no further. This guy is a very good player, a good defender who lead St.Etienne to being the second tighest back line to beat in Ligue 1 last season, just behind Monaco. Our squad lacks a few older heads imo and this guy still has 3 or 4 very fine years in the tank.

Christian Kabasele - Genk

Another Belgian to look at. Big strong powerful lad who flourished under McLeish last season. Bit prone to the odd yellow card but has the raw materials to become a very strong central defender.

Holding Midfielders::

Liam Bridcutt - Sunderland

If he isn't in old Dicks plans then he's a steal. He was a fanstastic player at Brighton under Poyet. Plenty of gusto about his game and he can also play in the style Deila likes with high intensity and lots of short passes. Probably outwith our reach if anyone else is sniffing but a loan with a view to signing him maybe.

Taulant Xhaka - Basle

This lad can play in central defence or in midfield. On the games I've seen I think he is better in the holding role as he's almost to combative to play in defence. Has a bit of the Broony about him as he enjoys a wee battle.

Wingers::

Ali Crawford - Hamilton

I really like Crawford as a player, maybe not a winger as such but he can play across any of the 3 attacking positions. Has a good eye for a pass and he's got a good eye for a goal. He showed last season against us that he also has a knack of getting himself beyond the striker to get a goal.

Luciano Slagveer - Heerenveen

Very quick attacking right sided winger / forward. Pace to burn and has a decent finish when he gets in on goal. End product is like most young wingers but he should improve. I really liked his old playing partner Ziyech but he's moved to Vitesse and has been very good for them as well and is now well above our price range I'd imagine.

Agim Ibraimi - Maribor

We've all seen that this guy can do great things with that left peg of his. Maybe a bit of a luxury player in some respects but with a left foot like that all he needs is that yard of space and you know more often than not your attackers are going to have a feast.

Strkers::

Amr Gamal - Al Ahly

At 24 this guy has really flourished having had game time at Al Ahly who have been known for producing some very talented young players. He's quick enough to go in behind, has a wicked left foot, can play up front alone and if you give him service then he'll score with his head, feet, arse or any other legit part of his body. Reminds me a bit of the man we all laughed at being linked with Chicarito, but with better aerial ability.

Bassem Morsi - Zamalek

Bit of a character judging by his bio where one coach said he was more interested in his looks than his game. Another who has really impressed in his games for Egypt over the past year and he had a fine season for Zamalek. Not as quick as Gamal but he's a strong lad who has fantastic instincts in the penalty box.

Renaud Emond - Waasland-Bevern

Big tall lad who has a wicked right peg and a more than decent left peg to boot. He's done very well for a team who struggle more often than not in the Pro League. I'm actually surprised to see he's still at WB as he has a good ratio of taking his chances and with 13 goals in 28 games last season he done well, especially as his coach seems to like to move him around a lot. Playing him as a winger and midfielder in at least 10 of those 28 games. Imo he's most effective playing as a striker and again he can play upfront on his own. Only major downside is he isn't going to beat many folk in a race.

Stefanos Athanasiadis - PAOK

Greek hitman who has a decent scoring record, including some goals in the Europa league, also links very well. My only concern is he likes to drift wide or drop deep, something that imo stops him getting more goals because he is a very capable finisher when he's in the box. He's especially good at getting to the front post and finishing on the angle. Seems to be decent in the air and pace wise he's fast enough to ensure that he'll rarely get caught if he gets in behind.

Various Potential Loans::

Wellington Silva - Arsenal - A talented young Brazilian winger who Wenger rates very highly and after a few seasons on loan in Spain is now rumoured to be looking to get him out on loan in the UK.

Nick Powell - Manchester United - Didn't work out well for him at Leicester last season and they terminated his loan due to issues with him in training. This lad had plenty of ability, maybe just needs a foot up the arse or a bit of love.

Abdelaziz Barrada - Marseille - His move carried a lot of expectation but he hasn't really found his way at OM yet.

Maxwel Cornet - Very promising striker in Lyons ranks. Good record for the French youth teams and highly thought of. Might even be pushing for 1st team action this year but if you don't ask.

is this a cut and paste job, what does these (B) and (U) mean?

2.) 13 Aug 2015 14:47:03
bold and underline probably

3.) 13 Aug 2015 17:07:49
There are hundreds of footballers who we could list and who maybe could do a good job for us . However there isn't much point in listing them , as we will never know whether they would be of any use to us . We as a club cannot sign players on a hunch , who may or may not play well for us .
Juninho., Graveson Roy Keane and Gillespie were all example of players most fans were happy to come to us and most of us thought we would get at least a couple of good seasons out of .

4.) 13 Aug 2015 18:35:47
Boring and uninteresting.killy.
