Any truth in the Armstrong deal?

chrisbhoy

1.) No chance Chrisboy…that would be too ambitious and united don't do domestic foes any favours whatsoever

2.) 01 Sep 2014 23:43:46
I hoped this to be true maybe on January fingers crossed

It's to be believed.

Stefan Scepovic expects his departure from Sporting Gijon to be finalised soon but is not sure yet that his destination will be Celtic.

Sporting manager Abelardo Fernandez admitted earlier this week that he was planning for a future without the talented striker.

Reports suggested that a switch to Celtic was imminent, and Scepovic says he would relish the opportunity to join the Scottish champions.

However, the 24-year-old has other options, including PSV Eindhoven, and is convinced that he will shortly be linking up with a new cub.

"I know that Celtic want me but the Sporting board has told me that so far they didn't receive any offer from Scotland, " the Serbian told Sport.

"But Sporting will sell me, that is for sure. They even told me not to train and play so that I could not get injured.

"Celtic? I would be happy to go there, for sure. But PSV is also big club and I must admit that there are even more options.

"I think that soon everything will be sorted out."

Looks like we could be signing Craig Gordon folks.

chrisbhoy

1.) Deal almost done Chris, shouldn't be too hard to finalise? Looks like it could come down to lenghth of contract games played and/or reacurrance of injury, he's been training with us for a few weeks so all must seem ok.

2.) Good bit of business IMO, great if injury free, predicted he would have been one of Keane's first signings so happy enough

3.) Craig Gordon. I can't believe we're going after a can't who trained wi Sevco, Hearts n even Dumbarton without earning a deal last season! Who sanctioned this?! Desmond? Lawwell? Park?

4.) @3 HB
His injuries were perceived as being career threatening and he was not looking for a contract from The Manky Mob or Hearts quite simply training facilities with professionals who he could gauge himself against as part of his rehabilitation. If Celtic sign him (he will have to pass a stringent medical before being offered any deal) it may well soften the blow a bit if Forster leaves as anticipated especially if he gets anywhere near the form he showed for The Embra Manky Mob before his £9 million transfer to Sunderland. He is still young enough that his best years could be ahead of him.

{Ed007's Note - A near 32 year old GK with two dodgy knees who has hardly played a match in 4 years does not have his best years ahead of him by any stretch of the imagination. If Sevco were signing him we'd be pi$$ing ourselves laughing at them, at least Kenny Miller has been playing football the last few years. Gordon was very interested in signing for for the Zombies, or Hearts, as soon as he thought he had a chance of playing again.
Do people actually think about the standard of players we are linked with or do they all just miraculously become great signings one way or another as soon as we're linked with them? How the hell would signing Gordon soften the blow if Forster, an English World Cup GK, left? Gordon has played in 16 matches since the last World Cup, would you be confident going into CL qualifiers with Zaluska or Gordon in goals?}

5.) If celtic sign Craig Gordon and Forster leaves then I'm gonny be really really worried, what sort of ambition is this!!, a 32 year old keeper with two dodgy knees and hasn't played in 3 years is just utterly pathetic. Fair enough if Forster does stay, I wouldn't mind him fighting it out with zaluska for number 2 but If he's our number 1 nxt season then it speaks volumes to whoevers sanctioning this deal, disgrace!

Now we're being linked with Uwe Rosler according to the Daily Mail.

Ed
I was listening to the radio earlier. Apparently a line of communication has been established between Celtic and your favoured choice to replace Lenny, Michael Laudrup lol
I know he doesn't like the rain too much, do you think there could be any truth in the claims?

chrisbhoy

{Ed007's Note - No.}

1.) This rumour seems to be appearing a bit more, it wouldn't be my first choice but anythings better than Owen Coyle

2.) @chrisbhoy like yourself coyle is a big NO NO! The boards kind of man though! Heard through faceb the same ones who said about Lenny leaving in the next 48/72 hours as I posted before, that Celtic have established a line of communication with malky McKay? Expect it to be announced before Monday?

I don't like talk about the treble. Our manager shouldn't be talking about it. Johansen shouldn't be talking about it, at least not publicly anyway.
It doesn't bode well when people talk about this stuff as if its definitely going to happen. Talk about it freely when we have the league cup and the league title won and we're 3-0 up in the final of the Scottish cup with 2 minutes to play.
Until then: "ssssshhhh please"

chrisbhoy

1.) Exactly, it's way too dodgy to be talking about it just now. A tricky away tie in the Scottish Cup and a final at hampden still to be played. Entirely focused on those games just now, please and thanks.

2.) C'mon guys, none of them has said we will win it just we want/ can do it! Surely nothing wrong with that?

3.) My thinking is that's its good to think positive and there's nothing wrong in being ambitious in wanting the treble.with the pool of players we have even without the two ex Dundee utd bhoys the celtic players are capable of delivering it and if they do given the draws they've had in the cup it would be thoroughly deserved.

4.) Yes GJ, I know what you're saying. The talk, especially when coming from the manager/player just talks it up a bit too much for my liking because it gets everyone saying it.

5.) The way I see it is if manager and players are comfortable talking about it, it shows the confidence within the team which is all good. I enjoy talk of the treble, just a good feeling knowing that there is still a lot to play for this season.

6.) We had serious complaints about the previous management not paying enough attention to domestic cup competitions . Now when our manager and some of our players are talking up the importance of the three domestic competitions we have people unhappy . Why?
Can the management win, surely by talking up the importance of the treble we have a better chance of winning it.

Ahem. who was it that said on this forum a while ago they had it on 'good authority' from a trusted source that Martin Odegaard was signing for Celtic in January?
The same person said until January was over they couldn't be proved wrong. Well, January is NOT over and you ARE proved wrong, just as expected! lol

chrisbhoy

1.) 22 Jan 2015 20:23:48
Maybe we'll get him on loan!

2.) They must have been mad! Would you come here over some of the clubs he had offers from? Our only hope was the Ronny connection and that was slim at best

3.) Remember your shout too Ed! What made you think he'd pick Real? Is he not a Liverpool fan?

{Ed007's Note - I didn't just think it, someone told me. The approach on behalf of CFC for Odegaard was made directly to his father by Massimo Franchi or someone associated with him at MF Sports. We never really had much of a chance, Jimbo, it was between Madrid and Ajax although he really did have his pick of anywhere.
I think he is a Liverpool supporter but they had as much chance of signing him as I have of $hitting out a monkey tonight.}

4.) He was asked in an interview before he got his national team debut and all the kaos started, if he dreamed about playing for his favorite club Liverpool.
He said that supporting them dosnt mean I would like to play for them.

5.) My original post wasn't meant to have a go at anyone. Sorry if it read that way. It would be great if we got him on loan but I think Real will want to hold on to him and develop him themselves. He didn't cost them very much in real terms. If he gets even a few games for their first team in the next year he'll be worth at least double what they paid for him so they can't really lose.

6.) Isn't he meant to be on something like 80k a week? Think we would struggle to even loan him if that's the wages he's on we would be lucky to even be able to offer to pay 20k of that I can't see the loan happening

Ed, your lack of love for Griffiths is well noted but why on earth is he not getting more game time? Setting aside his off-field antics, is there another reason why he isn't used more? When he plays he looks sharp and surely that would only get better with more time on the pitch.
Does he get on ok with Mr. Deila and the coaching staff? Is he gelling as a member of the squad in training etc?
I think he is a potential class act for us if only he could get a run in the team.

chrisbhoy

{Ed007's Note - I expect Hibs to try again in January to take Griffiths on loan.}

1.) Yeah I read that myself. It seems to be a recurring theme with him and Hibs and I know he supports them but I still don't understand why he isn't getting a game based on football matters alone.
He's good enough to do a job in my opinion, certainly better than Stokes.

2.) Chrisbhoy, I think you posted before the game today . A. Stokes had quite a good game today and it's by no means certain that Griffiths would have been better.

3.) 14 Dec 2014 23:24:13
While I agree that Griffiths is a decent player I would like to ask you: Do you think Griffiths is a better striker than Guidetti? Do you think he is a better right winger than Forrest? Do you think he is a better number 10 than Johansen? Do you think he is a better left winger than Stokes? You might think he is but Deila doesn't and that is why he is not playing.

4.) We'll never know if he doesn't get a decent run in the team. That's my point Rab.
There may be other reasons why he isn't getting a game, and that's my question. I don't think anyone can say "he isn't good enough" because the guy hasn't been given the long runs in the team that those other players you mention have.
I do think he's better than Stokes overall and my kitten is better than Florist!

Another poor performance.
I don't think the players know what they're doing. So who is to blame?
The players are to blame and so is the manager. The players need to believe in each other and they need to believe in and understand Ronny's plan. The problem is they don't by the looks of it.
Mediocre at best today, but that seems to be an all too common summary of our performances this season.

Very disappointed but not really surprised. I think we'll still win the league and as players ours are better than the rest but we are no better than the other teams around us as far as desire and understanding are concerned.

Initially I thought your comment was silly because surely all players want first team football.
Then I remembered that Zaluskas been with us for quite a while and has seemed quite happy to play second fiddle at a big club instead of first choice at a small one.
I think he's at that age now where long term financial security might be more important than on the field achievement.

The rumours also say a couple of EPL teams are looking at him.
If that is the case (and yes we all know the value of rumours) andany of them really want him then unfortunately we're going to be out of the race. Not many players choose trophies over money these days.

Randolph ain't a bad keeper at all.
Like many others I'm sure, I have always thought Zaluska ws very average, apart from the time he was with Dundee Utd. because he looked OK back then. Probably the reason we signed him in the first place.

I don't understand why Griffiths doesn't get more game time. When he plays he shows a bit of quality. Our team is a bit short in that department just now.
Forrest is taking a shirt from a decent player. I've said that for a long time.
Ambrose is definitely a liability. Anytime I see the ball going towards him I turn away with fear.
And finally, when you sign any player it can take time for them to settle but you know early on whether a lad has what you're looking for. Signing a manager is no different and I don't think Ronny has what we need. I'm sure he's a decent bloke but he has taken a decent (if not brilliant) team and made us very average. I don't think time is the answer. I think we will win the league but we won't do it impressively. And I think his tactics will see us flop against Inter.

That's a very valid point Jim. Why would anyone want to watch it in a pub when the real thing is just up the road? The tickets are not too pricey and they're available.

He can wear 777777 on his back for all I care. He might not be the player we wanted but he is now one of the players we've got so let's cut the lad a bit of slack and give him our full support. He's here with good intentions and enthusiasm. We should all be of a similar mind.

Hail Hail. welcome to Paradise Nadir

He does seem to have some scoring ability but his main strength appears to be his ability to hustle and unsettle the opposition defenders into making mistakes which creates chances for others. I was always nervous when he played against us. Not sure if he's the player we need though.

Whilst we may be well placed for and SHOULD win a treble this season I think it's wide of the mark to call it a certainty. Bearing in mind that 2 pieces of the treble are just one-off games last night shows that if we aren't playing to our potential then other teams can and will take advantage. The league is now back in the mix a bit after that defeat because there are only 6 points of a difference although we SHOULD come through but the 2 cups are anyone's to win.
We SHOULD win all 3 but that's as far as it goes.
