It's to be expected that clubs won't sell "quality" players in the January window. It's a pointless window and a detriment to selling clubs like ourselves who could potentially lose our best players half way through a season. It needs scrapped imo!

I'm not buying that excuse. For example the Scandinavian leagues are in pre season and lots of players whose teams want to get off their books.

Bhoy88, granted there's never a lot of buisness getting done on this window by most teams. But when your teams crying out for a LB and a centre forward at least and you sign a winger and a 3rd choice centre forward. I'm sorry but the window could be put to better use.

So yes to be expected.

A lot of fans might not agree and maybe a bit old. But Van Veen was avaliable, proven he can score goals at Motherwell. Probably would have been a better punt than Norwich reserve player.

So clubs won’t sell their best players in January, yet we are susceptible of losing ours in January . Doesn’t that contradict each other.
Either way there is no excuse for players of a quality standard not to be brought in if due diligence has been done, rovers himself said that there was a few players quite far down the line before the window opened. It’s all to similar to every other season, when lawell was “in charge”, we would never sign any players before the champions league qualifiers, go out and then sign a couple to keep fans quiet . Our system needs modernising inc the board .

No it doesn't contradict itself as we are a selling club and to buy the quality I thought people meant, we would need to buy players from bigger clubs than us but then Van Veen was mentioned so I'm not sure about the definition of quality anymore?????.

You can get quality in many places. I was just pointing out that some places are in pre season and therefore it will be easier to sign players from those countries in January.
