Bet he doesn't feel the same way about his new club but can't blame the boy for taking that sort of dough.

I can blame him, even without taking the Saudi tainted money he would have earned unbelievable money and actually enjoyed the game and competed for very sought after trophies. He could have joined the Saudi regime in his 30’s and earned this stupid money and risked having his head cut off than rather. than a young man.

Adjusting for the social-media warped affectations of our modern youth, I find Jota's statement heartfelt and sincere. Sure, there's the egoism and patter (and books! lots of books! ) , but he took the time to try to communicate something. That's more important than whatever he may or may not have managed to convey. Couldn't meet a more earnest young man, nor one so gallus.

Still, I may send him one or two titles on Wahhabism for his collection.

Jota had a touch of class on the pitch and this shows he has a touch of class off the pitch.

I personally felt this was sincere and from the heart. I know some don't share this view but I don't hold any grudges that he left and thank him for all the wonderful memories he provided us while he was here.

All this mercenary p ish is embarrassing. He was great for us, made us a lot of money and hopefully more when he moves from Saudi. We are a player trading club. It’s as if people still think it’s the end of days where players stayed for years. Get a grip. Good luck Jota and thank you. Turning on heroes is out of order. Grow the feck up.

Agree young enough to play in Saudi for a year or two on megabucks before moving back to Europe. Moves like this will only encourage better players to come play for us as we are gaining a reputation and our recent track record is pretty good. Onwards and upwards hail hail.

@kwaj - another thing that works in our favour, is that when we sell players for big money to the EPL they generally do well.

Whereas, the ones they have sold, (3 in 11 years) have tended to flop.

People saying Jota could have waited a few more years before taking the Saudi money, just remember John Kennedy, one tackle and career finished.
Take the money now and can always chase dreams later.

The Saudis have offered zaha a 16milliin pound a year deal he's 30 now but wants 23.5 million a year so Jota could have waited.
