Aleksandar Tonev has been found guilty of using abusive language of a racist nature.
If it was up t me his loan would be cancelled and he would be sent back to Aston Villa immediately.

surely we won't stand for this. Get rid ASAP Celtic!

{Ed007's Note - It looks like the club are appealing the decision.}

are we actually for appealing this? ed you got any inside info when his flight back down south is or you think the club will stick by him?

{Ed007's Note - Celtic issued a statement in response to the verdict confirming Tonev will appeal and making it clear they continue to believe he is innocent.

"Racism has no place in football and as a club for all people, Celtic absolutely abhors racism of any kind.

"This was a very unfortunate case, but the club has accepted Aleksandar’s explanation that he did not say the words that were alleged to have been said and that he is not a racist.

"We are, therefore, very disappointed by the outcome today and can confirm that Aleksandar will be appealing this decision."

The club state that this will be appealed so them must believe what he says? I don't think we could ship him back because of it in any case. He was on Celtic duty when he did or did not make the remark. If he did racially offend the player then he should not pull on a Celtic jersey again, however he currently denies the offence and the club are supporting him.

"We are, therefore, very disappointed by the outcome today and can confirm that Aleksandar will be appealing this decision."

Disgusting to see the state the club are in, fighting tooth and nail for a person like Tonev?!

Racism has no place in society today, let alone at Celtic Park. Get the CNT to FCK!

To hamilton bhoy i'm wondering how you can say for so sure he's guilty.my understanding of the evidence is that there isn't any? its one players word versus anothers

Im not defending racists but I would be wary if condemning someone on such lack of proof

Is there something which hasn't been released yet that were missing ed?

{Ed007's Note - How can he be found guilty without evidence and unless you were at the hearing you have no idea what evidence there is so what are you basing your understanding on, twitter?
I remember Celtic fans, and rightly so, getting tore into John Terry & Suarez for racism, both of which was also one mans word against another - now I see some of the same people are trying to defend Tonev.
If the roles were reversed with Tonev and Logan there would be howls of '7 games is that it?' and 'F*ck the SFA' etc etc.}

6.) 30 Oct 2014
Worded that Tonev will be appealing not Celtic. Reckon if the appeal fails he will get the boot hasn't impressed anyway. Is there a chance of a longer ban if he fails his appeal?

7.) 30 Oct 2014
Ed a presume Celtic had representation @ today's hearing and upon appealing must be doing so with flimsy/hearsay evidence would you not agree?

If he has done it then yes hunt him but in modern day times / translation issues, A mean if this was a Scots case it would be "not proven " surely? It is at best one mans word against another

8.) 30 Oct 2014
If he did racially abuse any one he deserves every thing he gets how ever if it comes down to one mans word against another without any other evidence how can he be found guilty? far less the punishment he has got

9.) 30 Oct 2014
When it happened, RD came out and gave tonev his full support and said he trusted him, I thought at the time, he 'd have been better saying something like 'no comment'.

10.) 30 Oct 2014
What do you mean a person like Tonev
I have no evidence of him doing anything wrong . I doubt if any Celtic fan would ever have any faith or belief in any findings that the people who are in charge of Scottish Football.

{Ed007's Note - I'm sure if he was found not guilty you would have said the exact same about the SFA. How did you feel when the SFA fought tooth and nail with FIFA to allow Guidetti's loan to go through?}

11.) 30 Oct 2014
Well if the appeal is successful, will this Logan boy then be punished for false accusations?

At the end of the day, if and its a big if, if there is no video evidence and if none of the officials heard any racist comments then how can he be punished for 7 games.

No one on this forum will know the full facts of what happened so no one is in a place to judge.

Innocent until proven guilty or is it because he has not produced the goods some fans think he is guilty until proven innocent.

12.) 30 Oct 2014
To give him a seven game ban would indicate they have some form of evidence that would indicate he is guilty so he has to go - end of!
For Celtic Football Club to appeal this indicates how out of touch the board are with the public support.

There are two separate issues here, the first is that no matter who the player is if by their actions or deeds they damage the reputation of the club then the go. The second is that the SFA have taken a decision that isn't backed up by any evidence. If no third party was there to hear what Tonev is alleged to have said then how can they hand out a ban. Any player could then claim that another player used language of a racist or bigoted nature. In civil law it would simply come down to the fact that if no witnesses overheard what was said then no case.

14.) 30 Oct 2014
I know we have a persecution complex at the club, but this is a very serious charge and presumably they have some sort of evidence to support this?
If the player was our own I could understand a full blown appeal; but as he is on loan and it would be so easy to just pack him back to Villa - there must be some credence in the appeal?
I would hope that any sectarian abuse or overtone will be handled with the same exuberance as it has never in the past.

As things stand Tonevs been found guilty and should be treated as such, if he wins an appeal then that's fine we can look at what's happened. Till then there's no point trying to guess what evidence they did or didn't have but common sense tells you ther must have been evidence I can't see us turning up to a hearing there being no evidence and when they guys found guilty all we say is we're disappointed and will appeal, the lawyers letters would have been at Hampden before half 5 tonight. We need to calm down with blaming the SFA for things, the more we throw out crazy accusations of bias and conspirasy over things like this the more people won't take us serious over the bigger stuff like the sevco cheating and their bigger fraud scam. WE NEed to chose our fights carefully. The question is what does the the SFA have to gain by finding Tonev guilty? I can't think of anything or are we classing this like the Jorge Caddette thing. Tonev being banned has hardly damaged the team or our prospects of winning trophies. Sometimes a wee touch of common sense goes a long way. Does anyone have any sensible suggestions why the SFA would find him guilty if there was no evidence ones that don't involve the masons or how the sfa have always got it in for the Hoops?
p.s. Problem solved with the posting problem eddy, I was using my phone to do it and the settings were wrong according to my bhoy.

I thought I read at the time it was accused that the video evidence was inconclusive so I don't get how he can be charged then as it would purely down to ones word against another
