Ed, and others too

Do you think Tony Watt has a future with us? Seems he's in the news again for all the wrong reasons. Maybe the lad isn't in the wrong this time, who knows. Such a talent, and that's the frustrating bit about it. I'd love to see him settle and come back to us.

Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - It's bang out of order if Menzo has slapped Watt as is being reported but I think unless NL leaves this summer Watt will move on. It's ridiculous that we have Watt out on loan yet waste money signing Griffiths.}

1.) 17 Mar 2014
Yip I read that about Menzo too. Hardly the behaviour of a classy manager. It seems Watt did to him what he does to Watt i.e shake hands without making eye contact. Totally disrespectful. The lad has bags of talent but it seems he clashes with Lennon as well but he does seem to be very unfortunate when it comes to getting on with managers. Is there a pattern developing with him?

Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - It sounds like the move to Lierse has been a bit of a nightmare from the start for Watt. I would like to see him brought back, in the team and left with no doubts about what is expected of him.}

2.) 17 Mar 2014
I agree ed watt should be brought back to be given the chance to be celtics main striker over others who are currently at the club. My only fear is that Lennon will utilise him on the wing which was a complete waste last year if he doesn't play thru the middle then I don't see the point in bringing him back and yet again a good potential won't be realised.

I think Griffiths will be a better player for us than Watt. Hope Watt comes back and is a success but unfortunately I can't see it happening. But I think you should give Griffiths a chance Ed!

{Ed007's Note - We've been through this, it ain't ever going to happen. If that is the level of player we are looking to sign then the CL next season is going to be a massive ask.
We have players like Mouyokolo, Mulgrew, Ambrose, Boerrigter, Forrest, Kayal, Commons, Pukki, Balde, Samaras, Stokes and now Griffiths who are simply not good enough, or consistent enough, to play in the CL.
With Forster probably for the off and van Dijk's exit looking more and more likely CL qualification is starting to look less and less likely, the blame for that has to lie with both the board and the manager. What little money the board has released has not been spent wisely.}

17 Mar 2014 22:17:01
I agree with you with regards to our squad not being good enough for the champions league. However I'd feel more confident with a guy like Griffiths than stokes or samaras. Yeah he came with a lot of baggage but that aside, I think he's actually a good footballer. Unfortunately with Scottish football being the way it is, who else can we attract?

{Ed007's Note - Well we attracted Forster, van Dijk, Wanyama, Hooper, Lustig, Matthews, Ledley, Izaguirre plus Biton and Johansen look like they could become good players for us. There are plenty of players out there we could sign up if the funds were made available, and I don't mean fantasy football stuff.
It looks as if Aaron Hunt from Werder Bremen will be available in the summer as a free. Bremen want him to take a wage cut and he is not willing to do that. He will be looking for circa £25k -30k p.w. and a decent signing on fee, why not try signings like that? What have we got to lose by trying? There is nothing to fear but fear itself.
If you don't mind what a player does in his private life what about Ravel Morrison, he left Man Utd because Fergie couldn't tame his bad-boy 'gangsta' lifestyle, he has just turned 21 and was regarded at Man Utd as the closest to Scholes they had ever seen, if not better at that age. He fell out with Allardyce at West Ham and is on loan at QPR just now.
It basically comes down to money, do you think Eto'o went to Anzhi because he had always wanted to play in the Russian League or was it the 20 million Euros a year net wages he was getting paid?}

5.) 17 Mar 2014
Board should bring in a policy where if they sign say a £3m rated player, who is of a proven quality standard (and we wouldn't get on current wage structure) the transfer fee saved in wages over length of contract. Could be what is needed to get a good run regularly in europe

{Ed007's Note - Most Bosman signings do get an inflated signing-on fee, KP.}

6.) 18 Mar 2014
I know they do, common knowledge ed. my point is we don't and are potentially missing out

{Ed007's Note - Sorry bud, yeah I agree with you. I have said numerous times that I would rather see our wage structure improved than the spend on transfer fees raised, it is the wages that clinches a deal. The average wage in the EPL is £30k a week, we should at the very least be offering that to players who will improve the team if it's needed to get the deal done for the right player(s).}

7.) 18 Mar 2014
That Menzo's had it in for Watt since Day 1. He's constantly criticising him publicly and NL should have put a stop to it long ago. I hope to god he comes back and gets a game like the gaffer has said recently

8.) 18 Mar 2014
If we can't get one young lad to tow the line we have problems. I agree loans can be good to get him out of the Glasgow goldfish bowl but not at our own expense when we need a player like him.

9.) 18 Mar 2014
Everyone saying watt should have been brought back 2 us early but none really knows what happened behind the scenes with him and lennon or the club in general? obviously something happened 2 put him out on loan. As far as iv heard from people that know him from being an airdrie lad which is close 2 wer a live he's an absolute clown of a boy swans about givin it the big 'i am', was out partying constant, stinkin attitude in training and giving danny mcgrain a mouthful of abuse. Wether any this is true or not I don't know but i'm not the 1st person that seems 2 have heard these kinda stories about him so IF ther is any truth 2 it then ther probably lies the reason he was sent out in the 1st place. Anyone else anything similar about him while he was here?

{Ed007's Note - If NL can't handle a rowdy teenager Gunnie then a) it's another reason why he shouldn't be manager and b) why buy a complete no-user like Griffiths rather than persevere with one of our youth players?
Part of the manager's job is guiding a youngsters career, NL has lowered the bar to gutter level by signing Griffiths and sending Watt out on loan smacks of hypocrisy. Tommy Burns would have never sent a mercurial talent like Watt out on loan, and I would guess neither would manager's like Stein, McNeill or MON.}

10.) 18 Mar 2014
Ed I have agreed with everything you have said about Griffiths. And even Now I do agree with you. But Griffiths has kept his head down and done all that's asked from him since he has came to paradise, I agree he will probably stuff it up at some point but untill then I think we should get off the boys back and support him the way we do any other Celtic player.

{Ed007's Note - Even from a footballing point of view Griffiths is never CFC class, there's a reason it was only us and Hibs who were interested in him. Would you be confident going into CL qualifiers with Stokes and Griffiths as our strikers Darren?}

11.) 18 Mar 2014
Ed a totally agree that if lennon can't handle him then it's another thing 2 the list why he shouldn't be the manager. He's done some great things as manager can't take that away from him but a seriously hope he goes in the summer I can't see how much he can take us forward anymore unless he changes his football philosophy and youth system

12.) 18 Mar 2014
@chrisbhoy if he had a future with us, then why send him out on loan and sign 4 strikers this season? Thought you knowing it all would of worked that one out.

13.) 18 Mar 2014
Is he really worth the hassle? He's had two chances now. Menzo doesn't have to show the same blind faith and support lennon does. He signed an unfit, belligerent little t*t. What would our reaction be if a loan player came to us with that attitude? I read something regarding watt being left out of the national u21aswell (I think). His twitter reaction was #binned again. He can't keep his mouth shut and be a professional. He hasn't done enough in his career to think he is owed anything yet. Far better players than him have been moved on for similar reasons.

{Ed007's Note - To be fair Watt isn't the only player who has went out on loan and had his fitness questioned. Bahrudin Atajic was deemed unfit by Shrewsbury who said he would be put through a tough pre-season programme - in February! Coventry were far from impressed with Dylan McGeouch's fitness levels as well.}

14.) 18 Mar 2014
@12)
I believe the idea of sending him out on loan was to make him appreciate what he had at Celtic. Well that's what Lennon has said publicly. Perhaps the powers that be at Celtic do not believe he can mend his ways sufficiently to take advantage of the chance he has with us. I was just asking Ed (and anyone else who cared to be involved) their opinion.

Hail Hail

15.) 18 Mar 2014
Ed

RE your reply to post 10 about Griffiths. I wouldn't be confident going into a champions league campaign with Griffiths as our main striker but the board are only going give Lennon chump change again in the summer and unfortunately we have to p155 with c0ck we have.

{Ed007's Note - Exactly Niall. Instead of showing off our £21m worth of c*ck we are doing a James Forrest and flashing a bargain basement (allegedly) sized knob.}

16.) 18 Mar 2014
@14. Surely you are not that naive to believe that propaganda? Its obvious he is not in Lennon's plans from minute he was sent on loan. When was the last time celtic sent a fringe player out on loan and they came back and into the fold? Cause I can't remember

17.) 18 Mar 2014
@16)

Emmmmmmmmm, whatever.

Hail Hail

18.) 18 Mar 2014
Exactly Ed. Couldn't have put it better myself but no doubt we will get the usual "do you want to end up like that club who died" chat. Speculate to accumulate or at least let Lennon spend the profit from the sales.

On another point I was disgusted to read Dirks comments in the newspaper. If he was fit even half of the time he could justify a moan about not playing.

{Ed007's Note - To be fair to Boerrigter though, at least he wants to get match fit and play, with what he said he's shown that he is not content to just sit about picking up his wages.
I was expecting good things from him this season but have been really disappointed, I would like to see him get fit and play in a run of matches to show what he can do, he has a decent enough pedigree.}

19.) 19 Mar 2014
Fair play Ed I would rather have a boy wanting to be on the park than sitting picking up wages for nothing too but there have probably been many times where Lennon has wanted to call on him but he has been injured.

I remember there being quite a bit of hype after his debut where the player of the year award was mentioned and I hope he gets back to that standard on a consistent basis although I have my doubts as he is in the peak of his career and if injuries are effecting him this badly now he will be finished for good by the end of his contract with us.

20.) 19 Mar 2014
Get a Grip all you Watt lovers, he scored a great goal against Barca and he thought he had made it. After that every time he put a Celtic jersey on he was Crap. Griffiths is a much better player that Watt. Ed what has Griffiths ever done to you, is there something you are not telling us and are you related to Watt? His goal in the Champ Lge is the only thing I can remember about Watt? Class player my ar$e

21.) 19 Mar 2014
@17. Answer the question

22.) 19 Mar 2014
@ tam and dn30 don't you think the boy has potential all be it a possible attitude problem. It would be good to see a coach/manager take him aside and set him on the right path as I would rather see him and the boy mcgregor etc given more chances than pukki balde stokes etc it will also be good if Griffith changes his way over time and delivers consistently for celtic then people might change their views on him.

23.) 19 Mar 2014
@21
Here we go again!
I don't believe it was propaganda. I believe Lennon saw Watt's natural ability and simply wanted him to tame his behaviour because he wasn't going to be a regular choice when he was so able to be disruptive. There were many rumours of his behaviour within the club and away from it too. If he didn't have the potential to come back wiser and more settled then I believe he'd have been booted out for good. It's not as if he came with a huge price tag to begin with.
It's also unfair to compare him to some others who have gone on loan because it was clear with many of them that there wasn't really going to be a chance of returning to the fold.
And anyway, how do you know he wouldn't be in the club's long term plans just because of what has happened to other players? Where does your magnificent inspiration and know all attitude come from? If you were a true Celtic fan you'd stop your constant griping and moaning and complaining (not to mention your frequent visits to "their" page!) and get on with supporting our team.
Now go back to your pram little boy. It must be time for a nappy change soon! WOO HOO!

Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - Who made you the expert about what it takes to be 'a true Celtic fan'? So basically if you don't just agree that everything is hunky-dory you aren't a true fan? Sorry but that's just B0llocks!!
It's a good job that Fergus McCann wasn't 'a true Celtic fan' in your eyes otherwise we might be like Rangers and not in existence any more.
If you want to bury your head in the sand and pretend everything is OK at the club then that's fine, but don't accuse people who see the problems and want to talk about them of not being 'true Celtic fans'.
Are you supporting the team in any cup finals this season or is it acceptable to 'true Celtic fans' like you that Aberdeen could possibly win more trophies than us this year? Is it acceptable that two of our strikers are due in court over separate assault charges? Is it acceptable that our manager has his own merchandise line or that we were embarrassed in Europe, crowds are dwindling because of the terrible standard of football AND footballers on show... the list could go on and on Chris.}

24.) 19 Mar 2014
@jim1972 I do think he has potential, I don't think he is going to get chance at celtic though under lennon

25.) 19 Mar 2014
Ed, the constant whinging and complaining of some people is a bit tedious. Those who constantly moan and complain do nothing to improve any situation, they only seek to bring others to their own miserable level.
Positivity and optimism are what it's all about Ed. They're the future, just like garlic bread! But then again, there are some people who don't like garlic bread. Instead they prefer to fekkin whinge and moan without making a positive contribution of any kind.
Agree or disagree with me, I don't really care.

Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - Your infatuation and stalking of DN30 proves you do care. It's nice to see you sticking with the board apologists party line of just ignoring questions put to you though, you are all consistent I''l give you that.}

26.) 19 Mar 2014
I love the banter with him Ed. I see it as a positive action to challenge the miserable fekkers I referred to in my original post. I'm certainly not an apologist for the club or any individual. There are things that I too wish I could change but they are not within my powers. That doesn't mean I'm going to be a dour bollox though. Curiously some people like to do that. I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "Misery loves company" and there's a right feckin bunch of them hanging around here at times. I come here often because I like to see them squirm with their ridiculous comments from time to time. If they weren't complaining about the club they'd be yapping about something else.

{Ed007's Note - The old saying 'There's none so blind as those who will not see' is far more apt for a lot of CFC supporters, or perhaps 'Refusal to accept reality does not change reality'.}

27.) 19 Mar 2014
Your comments are wise on this occasion. Depending on how you read them they could apply to the actual fans AND the negative whingers. I prefer to have my glass half full, not half empty but there are those for whom there is no cure.

Hail Hail

{Ed007's Note - I don't drink so glasses half full or half empty have no bearing on my life, my mood or opinion doesn't alter facts.}
