Hello ed, I know your a Manchester United fan aswell as a Celtic fan. Do you know if there's any truth in the rumour that we might be doing a player plus cash deal with forster going there and lindgaard coming here? I heard that lindgaard is a good keeper but wouldn't his wages be to high anyway?

Darrenbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Anders Lindegaard is in £40k a week at Utd so unless he is willing to take a drop in wages he won't be coming here Darren. His contract runs until summer 2016 as well so he has security at Utd for a couple of years until they start offering him one year extensions like they do with players over 30.
Milan are looking to replace Christian Abbiati who turns 37 this year and is out of contract in the summer so they may follow up their initial interest with an offer for Forster, other than it would be a return to Newcastle to replace Krull if he leaves. Obviously that can all change between now and the summer.}

1.) I hope we sell forster in summer, all this speculation is getting a bit boring now. Lindegaard is a similar scenario to which we got forster. Although wages may prove stumbling point

2.) That's the gist of things down here Ed, Milan wanted Kul anyway even more so now Seedorf is at the helm. Forster would jump at a move to Newcastle, that much is bonified. The whole sell on percentage suites Mike Cashley to a tee as well.

3.) @jimtim I agree with you mate. Makes sense newcastle going for forster. How much they talking for krull?

4.) As a guesstimate, I'd say 9-12m for Krul.

5.) Cheers ed, I read it on news now, can't remember the paper it was in. Yeah I thought his wages would be far to high.

Bit gutted big vic is staying, if him and Hooper left I feel we would have had a very exciting transfer wondow, with our European run we could have attracted a few decent names, it said in the sun that boy tonev would rather come to us than seire a sides, but having Vic for one more season could be good to, as long as he can keep up his champions league form

Darrenbhoy

1.) How can ye be gutted darren lol why sell then go through the hassle of tryin 2 find a replacement he's stil got 2 years on his contract we r in no need 2 sell him plus his price wil jsut rise even higher with another good season al be over the moon if he stays tbh

GunnieBhoy

2.) How can you be gutted, be grateful for one of the best players we've had in recent years is willing to stay.

Quack

3.) It's a boost to hold on to your best players and I also think it's easier to replace a striker like Hooper than a versatile power house like Wanyama so I'm glad he's staying.
No doubt there will be others leaving who will give us an opportunity to strengthen and there must be a wish-list already brought to the Board's attention for next season with that in mind.

Jungle Jim

4.) 26 Apr 2013 17:21:26
Totally agree I think he should stay until Jan and then see how he feels about staying/leaving. this just shows how big a club we are if not even interest from the epl is turning his head so well done big man and I hope other players take note of this. wee darren

5.) The way I see it is if he helps us get another run in the champions league then that will get us more than any transfer offer we would get. Antony

6.) Big Vic staying is fantastic news. he is going to be something else. make Flo transfer look average the way he is progressing. shows that our Euro run has changed the views of many. might get some more wee gems into the squad. I hope Hooper stays also. I know he has not produced for a while. but silverware is an addictive thing. KTF HH

7.) I think what Darrenbhoy is trying to say is if we got 15million for him we could buy a few quality player that we are lacking in a few positions with that money! He has been one if not thee best player for us this season so I am happy if he stays but if he were to go and we got good money for him we could not just replace him but buy a good few player for that money! Teams like Porto do it all the time buy cheap young player and sell them on for a massive profit and rebuild the team with that money!

8.) Wanyama is saying the right thing's just now to please celtic fan's but if your telling me that if a big team in england germany or spain come in for him and offer him big wages that he is not going to go then you are off your rocker. these type of players have no interest in loyalty they look after number one and I dpn't blame them. 3 players will leave celtic in the summer at least wanyama ledley and hooper and possibly even forster. sorry but truth hurts.

9.) 26 Apr 2013 22:56:30
Just because he has declared his wish to stay does not mean that he will be here at the start of next season, yes he is under contract for two years but if he does not sign an extension and the right offer is made he will be sold. The board will surely not allow the value our hottest property to be devalued by a simple desire to stay for another year

10.) Last 2 posters are correct. If he's so keen on staying and appreciates the platform Celtic have given him then sign a new contract on a better wage.
This, wanting to stay for another year reduces his value. Come Jan '15 he can sign a pre contract.
Look what happened to Gary this yr, head turned, couple of poor games against Juve, can we all say his stock is as high as in Jan? That said, love it of he stayed.
Vic's giving the right soundbites but actions speak louder than words as they say - sign a new contract, give us an insurance policy of big bucks transfer and stay for a season or 2. Stevo Dundee

11.) Need to get your head out the clouds, when we have world class players at our club we should enjoy it while we have them rather than wishing them away. For every good player we pull in we could easily pull in a miku so enjoy the good ones while they are here. Tomev may be the next big thing, but he could also be another Erik huseklep who was getting chased by serie a clubs and now appears to be nothing more than a journeyman.

12.) There is an expression, 'strike while the iron is hot'. All sorts of teams were linked with big money moves for Emelio but he got a bad injury now no one would give more that £1.5m for him. I think Celtic can't afford not to sell Wanyama if they could get £10m+. We do not have EPL money from TV, sponsorship etc and, like it or not, we need to be realistic. Remember the majority of the current squad were brought in on the money generated from McGeady.

So John guidetti is in hot water of using the word "hun" whilst singing his song. This term I'm sure was first used when the old rangers traveled to Wolverhampton and destroyed the place, a bit like what they done to Manchester. I'm sure it was a journalist who first coined the term. I'm only 27 so I'm not sure I was even alive lol. Anyway what do you guys think? Is this a secterian word? Or is it a well deserved word that they brought on themselves by acting like they has atilla guiding them through england?

Darrenbhoy

{Ed007's Note - The whole idea that the word Hun is in any way sectarian is a joke and should never have been up for debate, Hun is a term that is used to denote Rangers/Sevco fans and players e.g. Novo, Amoruso both Catholics and still both Huns not to forget Judas! Ask CFC fans why they never took to Kenny Miller and 99% of them will say because he played for the Huns, as far as I know you can't play football for a religion, in saying that the hordes at Ibrox don't know if they're supporting a football club or company so who knows, they might think Sevco is a religion, it's awfy confusing.
Supporters of Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, the Dundee clubs even Accies fans refer to Sevco and their supporters as Huns, every other team in Scotland in fact, it's the equivalent of using Tim for CFC supporters. Let's not be kidded here, Hearts fans would never use the term if it was offensive to Protestants.
Just like our Hail, Hail they have Follow Follow, they call us Tims and we call them Huns, it's when you start getting into the Fenian and DOB it starts to become offensive and sectarian.
It's funny it never bothered them until recently when they needed something to shout about and to deflect from their own disgusting and vile songs and terms that are heard any time they congregate.
Should we really be allowing, or even listening to, people who find child abuse funny and something to be mocked to take the moral high ground over what is offensive and what's not?}

1.) 09 Mar 2015 16:42:40
ED007 now I am confused lol your filter blocks word like MMoron (delete one M) yet allows "Hun" anyway I am old enough to remember Alfie Conn and we Celtic fans used to sing "he used to be a Hun but he's all right now" Anyway my "filter" Mrs T will not allow me and the girls to use the word Hun so we use "currents" instead but like all "currents" they can be nauseating in a bunch lol

{Ed007's Note - It used to be blocked I think and we're obviously not going to have it become widely used on the site. A lot of the words that are blocked are just the names people resort to in childish posts, it's a time saving thing for us Eds more than anything else so that we don't need to change them ourselves. Anyone can find anything offensive and anyone can scream about how offended they are, just because some people do that doesn't really mean it is offensive. Some people find Frankie Boyle offensive and some people don't. If any Zombie really and truly finds being called a Hun is offensive they're probably the Zombie version of our panty-wetters, all faux outrage and hand-wringing with far too much time on their hands.
What if we all started whinging about being called Tims, if we kicked and screamed loud enough would it stop the Zombies calling us it? If you look into the background of the clownshoes driving this on you'll see it's plainly a case of deflecting from their own bigoted and sectarian outlook and ideals. That state aid plonker is visibly having a mental breakdown on social media, he's that far gone even McTurdo has been giving him a wide berth for the last few months.}

2.) 09 Mar 2015 17:00:06
I can't speak for jg but I'm guessing he doesn't know the full history of where the word came from and what it means. I, m sure he has clicked onto a word we call our rivals and is included in a song sung in his honour by the fans of the club he is trying to win a league and cups for. So when he is asked by local TV to sing the song with his name in it of course he is going to sing it without realising it could cause offence. But when has the daily record ever let a simple explanation like that get in there way of some celtic bashing as a form of Rangers/sevco deflection.

3.) 09 Mar 2015 19:10:31
That's how I would have put it if I was capable Ed. Should be a non story. The PC brigade will be all over it as well as every hypocritical ex pro that can be herd together.

4.) 10 Mar 2015 00:08:42
I read a letter in a magazine some where few years back from a very old fella that was a celtic man from S Ireland that had moved to Oz many moons ago and returned for a last visit. He was amused to the point of sending the letter at the change of the use of the word and its rangers/celtic link. Due to to some early Catholic factions in S Ireland backing Germany they were called huns! I think his quote was along the lines of "changed days. I've been cut off in the outback so long everything has flipped on its head"

07 Mar 2015 15:31:35
I said we needed at least 1 cb In January so we could bed him in before champions league next season and was labeled an "Idiot who thinks we have unlimited money" now everyone agrees lol. We can be fickle fans, my point being I honestly don't think we will qualify for CL football next season. Right now our team will roughly be

Gordon
Izzy mulgrew Ambrose lustig
Bitton Brown
Amrstrong Johansson GMS
Griffiths

I don't have any faith left in efe and think he is a second team player at best. Mulgrew can play there but I'm not sure how he would do now after being played in midfield for so long. from midfield onward though we are pretty solid. Suppose we could play lustig as a cb but he is injured constantly. Anyway, we won't buy anyone untill after we qualify so I think we are going to struggle again.

Darrenbhoy

1.) 07 Mar 2015 16:13:14
You are the second one who doesn't have any faith in Ambrose . I never thought it was a requirement of a player that fans had to have faith in him and worship him . The facts are that after Gordon's display in the home leg of the Inter tie, I don't know how people could be saying he is good enough either . Ambrose has played very well in four different back four positions recently but I suppose the "mistake" against Juventus years ago are a better form guide line .

2.) 07 Mar 2015 16:41:25
Chris02 what's the explanation for all the mistakes ambrose has caused prior to Gordon being goalkeeper? Ambrose is an absolute bombscare, who should of been punted years ago.

3.) 07 Mar 2015 17:43:28
Darren would it not be better to focus on the coming weeks rather than what might or might not happen in the summer, you'll only drive yourself insane as the media speculate on Gordon, efe, vvd, denayer, stokes, Forrest, Guidetti prob johansen etc

4.) 07 Mar 2015 19:35:50
Dn30. Surely the historical " mistakes"made by Ambrose are of less importance than the form the player is currently in . You must have something against Ambrose because before Gordon came to play for Celtic Ambrose was an automatic choice for Celtic during their clean sheets run. Your post comes across as if you have a hatred of Ambrose, good Celtic fans should encourage and support all Celtic players. At the end of the day we should want Celtic to win, whether we like a player or not.

5.) 07 Mar 2015 20:29:13
Darren I agree with you in my opinion we should have brought in at least one CB in January. Its going to be tough in the Summer only thing I can think of bringing in 2 CBs from the same league? As they will have a better idea how each play and I think if that was to happen it will be a Scandinavian league that we get them from there is no doubt we need 2 CBs in as soon as

6.) 07 Mar 2015 21:11:31
Ambrose has made some horrendous 'historical' mistakes as you say and we all know he is a capable International and can do a decent job along the back line.
The problem I - and many others - have is we expect him to make a mistake at any minute, whether it's positional or trying to beat the same guy three times until he loses the ball or simply losing possession when he is off 'marauding'.
The supporters appreciate his commitment and effort, but he will always make game changing errors.
As for Gordon, I have mentioned a few times about his errors - especially parrying the ball back into danger, but he has saved us on several occasions as well; I would be much happier if we had another keeper, better than Zaluska to give us competition and choice.

7.) 08 Mar 2015 00:21:05
What about the recent mistake by Virgil away to inter milan, surely we would be better talking about a recent mistake, rather than harping on about historical mistakes that according to you only. Ambrose has ever made .

8.) 08 Mar 2015 07:35:02
Chris why are you still trying to polish the turd that is Ambrose? Do you remember Oliver Tebly AKA bomb scare? They could be mistaken for the same player!

9.) 08 Mar 2015 15:20:36
All players can be perceived as making errors . If you go to the match hoping to see a player making errors you are likely to not be disappointed . If a player is abused on fan forums and by the loud mouths in the stand, do you think that will make him more or less likely to make mistakes . Players play well when confident, do you think some of the posts on here and the loudmouths in the stands help to build up confidence . As a Celtic supporter is it more Important to be very funny calling players derogatory names, or actually supporting all the players and helping Celtic to win matches .
Virgil nearly left after reading somethings about himself early in his Celtic career .

10.) 08 Mar 2015 19:43:20
In our last two Cup Matches in Milan and in Dundee it hasn't been Ambrose that has put us underressure and finished off what ever chance we had of progressing in the Europa Cup. Today again he got sent off, most of us probably think he was unlucky today again . Howeverr even though his involvement was miminal get was ruled to deserve a red card and again made it hard for his teammates . Now I think if it was Ambrose who was sent off, I would be blamed so much I would have to stay away from these threads for a month .

27 Jan 2015 10:08:38
We sell every good player we have for any sniff off profit we can get, but we have rejected a 3 million pound bid for Ambrose? I have no words at all.

Darrenbhoy

1.) 27 Jan 2015 11:28:28
I can't believe you believe that!

2.) If this is true, all I can think of is that we don't have a replacement lined up that we could get for 1/10th of that.

3.) £3m is good price. Could Van Dijks agent be trying to force transfer this window and club do not want to risk losing Ambrose as well? Just thinking outside the box mate

4.) 27 Jan 2015 13:07:26
Another paper says 1.5million , truth is its probably a silly fee in instalments

5.) Maybe the board are holding out for 5 to 6 million due to his recent excellent performance!

Honestly I think we are holding onto him as we all know VVD is going on the summer and there is no guarantee that Denayer will stay for another year. If Ambrose goes we will be left with a pairing of Mulgrew and O'Connell (or Lustig) for any potential European qualifiers.

6.) Good sum we could have got the young Dutch CB with that money and had change. We have no hope of qualifying for CL as both Denayer and Virgil will be offski in the summer and we will have to bring in CBs which at the rate we do business will be too late, We will already be out. Not enough time to forge a partnership in defence either not well thought out. Or maybe that was PL plan then it will be loans or low budget players as there is no CL

7.) 27 Jan 2015 17:51:50
We have no cover though charlie is out for another 8 weeks we have the biggest 3 games of the season coming up and if vvd or denayer get injured there is no cb's apart from youth

20 Jan 2015 10:47:34
So John mcglyin has joined Celtic? Why would we employ him after everything he has said about us? The guy is a total rectom tbh

Darrenbhoy

1.) Agreed. His behaviour when managing hertz towards us, and in particular Lenny, was very poor.

2.) Think John McGlynn has been there for a wee while either scouting or coaching iv seen him at the training ground at the start of the season

24 Sep 2014 12:54:27
Gordon's positioning isn't the best and I don't think I agree we are lucky to have him. We are Celtic we should have a keeper at the very top of their game. We shouldn't have had to settle for a free agent that hadn't played competitive football in years. The fact we got 10 mill for forster and didn't actually spend it on the team is insane. I really hope Gordon pans out but regardless of wether that happens or not, we as fans are still getting ripped off.

Darrenbhoy

1.) Spot on mate, couldn't have put it better myself.

2.) With a good season under his belt! Fitness proven, there will be teams down south watching his progress . Think it will give us a reliable keeper for the season, may have a sell on value and give us time to identify a proper replacement for ff! let's not kid ourselves this was a 10 million pound keeper, if fit its money in the bank plus time to source a young replacement . Win win!

3.) We probably got more like 6 for Forster but I'm being pedantic: you're right. It should have at least been spent on an experienced CB to partner Virgil.

4.) Man utd, Liverpool have spent in excess of £300 million and are struggling to win matches, include man city spurs Everton, they are also struggling, so Spending big doesn't guarantee anything.i honestly can't believe the abuse Craig Gordon is getting for me he has not been responsible for any defeat this season.if it wasn't, for Gordon we would have lost 5/6 goals in Austria .killy.

5.) Gordon has been ace. Anyone think otherwise, really?

He's a shot stopper, natural like Boruc. We're better off with this guy if he don't fall over. Its a gamble - but then that's what our board do, right? Not likely to have a great sell on value - but we paid nothing - so its a guaranteed profit, or else a solid team player for 4 years. Win-Win.

Rabbie

6.) Gordon is probably the only plus so far this season! Can't see where people are getting upset with him! Everything ronny says is his way/philosophy / methods . He contradicts it in the next few days/games! Admit it's not working just now, change back to last seasons team, formation until we A :- have points on the board B:- players prove their worth and fitness then slowly change and adapt! Save the points and your face/job ronny!

I'd definitely have him at park head. He is something we are lacking atm so I think he could be perfect for the champions league, especially if we also sign Snodgrass

Get A grip, even if this picture is recent which it isn't it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference! Scott Brown is our best player and captain. So what if he had to much to drink? Haven't you, the bhoy has sat down to have a munch probably waiting on his taxi home and nodded off. It's hardly evil. This story is to turn us against our captain and sadly the less intelligent members off our Support have taken the bait.

I said exactly the same and got pelterz for it about a month ago. I honestly don't think we need a striker though. Scepovic looks a good player and definitely knows were the goal is as his record shows. I'm not even all that sure about desperately needing cbs anymore. Charlie can go back were he obviously belongs. What we need is to get players in that want to stay. There must be some decent British cbs out there that would stay a few seasons. Will be interesting to see what Ronny does in the summer.
