I would think that Welsh will now be staying at Celtic.
Jenz was a decent defender but I think it’s the correct decision because Welsh has a permanent contract.
Celtic only need 4 Central defenders and hopefully Welsh can get some more game time, until the end of the season.

I thought Celtic had an option to buy, I take it this only comes into play if ALL parties agree, so with Jenz wanting away I take it that cancels this option to buy deal.

{Ed007's Note - That's spot on, Timbo all parties need to still agree at the end of the loan, remember CCV was dithering over whether playing in Scotland would hinder his international chances.}

No to fussed he's away tbh, gave me the fear every game with his passing. Even if he did stay til the summer I don't think we would have taken the option to sign him.

{Ed007's Note - Everybody goes on about CB's and their passing but anyone old enough to have seen Bobo should know a CB doesn't need to be able to ping passes if he has someone beside him to do it.}

Bobo was a fekkin beast. I saw him playing many times at Paradise. If ever there was a 'unit' in football then Bobo ticked every box. HH.

{Ed007's Note - But he couldn't pass the ball but that wasn't his job to be fair to him. An absolute physical monster and one of the best stoppers I've seen at Celtic but if anyone thinks players like Jenz or Starfelt can't pass go back and watch Bobo playing.}

I suspect he had something like this written into his contract: 'Thou shalt not worry about passing the ball, just stop the other fekkers from passing it to each other in our box'. HH.

The only negative about Bobo and it is a small thing because he was a monster of a defender, is latterly he thought he could play out from the back which wasnt his strenght but back then nibidy cared. It is different now and players like
Reiper, Elliot, Mjallby and
Stubbs, were some if our best defenders who could play now.

{Ed007's Note - You need a stopper and a ball playing CB to form a partnership, if they are too similar it doesn't work, it's like a CM partnership in the old 442, you need a tackler/stopper and a ball player for it to work. Vidic and Rio Ferdinand were a perfect example of that kind of partnership.}

Was in main stand pre season friendly against Sunderland, Bobo tried to pass the ball across the box, Kevin Phillips intercepted the pass and got a shot on goal.

John Robertson right out the dugout shouting Bobo you're no here to try and play football, next time launch the ball and Phillips up the fecking Park.

We have had some great defenders and some poor ones too. Nothing any of them have ever done in my lifetime in a single incident will ever come close to the Simunovic tackle on Kenny Miller.

I agree with you ed but the amount off pressure he put us under due to unforced errors was poor. I understand not all defenders can play from the back it was a definite weakness is his game when maybe he could have took a simpler (safer) option. Then again people would have a go at him for being too safe ?

Ps would love to have defence with bobo and ccv or even big mjallby.

Bobo should not be the benchmark. He couldn’t pass, but his defending was great. The game has moved on, neither Jenz no Starfelt are great at passing but Starfelt is a better defender. Jenz just wasn’t worth keeping imo.

Hi I think we are being a bit harsh on BoBo 's passing
different times and asked to play different but remember MON saying he could pass but that wasn't his job. I think he held his own by the standards of the day. But never be what he is remembered for but he was a a smashing player and a bit underestimated. Certainly a better passer than Joe Hart???.

I thought Stubbs was rubbish for us until big rieper came in to play with him and that was a great partnership it really improved Stubbs having the big man next to him at the back.

{Ed007's Note - So Stubbs was rubbish for most of his 5 years at Celtic? Him and Reiper only played about one season together.}
