I still don't get why so many fans think we don't spend any money?
52million wage budget for a team from Scotland is an massive amount of money from which our season ticket money is nowhere near covering. As I've said before factor into that 7/ 9 million for eddy + wages, wage rises for Kt and TR probably around another 2 million easy, Disco lights and new pitch + other stadium improvements 4/ 5 million and possibly even add ntcham wages of around a million a year from last set of accounts ( I'm not sure if this has been accounted for or not ) And yes we have sold Armstrong and paddy is away and that is probably just as well or I'm quite sure there would be a few more on their way for sure. We have to remember we are run properly by our our board who won't take the risks other clubs may be taking. It nearly happened once before and I for one don't ever want to see it happen ever again. Yes I want to see signings of course I do but when I take a step back and really think things through, we still have the squad togeather and when all are fit is still definitely for sure the best squad in the country by some way.

CL revenue would cover the wage budget but Peter lawwalls ego had other ideas as we all know.

To be fair, it’s a good thing board members post on here. Royjac have a word with DJ Pedro at your next meeting. Tell him the troops are ready to storm the Bastille. Cheers. :)

The CL qualification achieved by BR and the players 2016/ 17 and 2017/ 18 was difficult and showed we needed to invest in certain areas of the team to improve; however, poor judgement or bargain hunting in the last three windows has resulted in failure to improve enough for CL football this season - which was always going to be our most difficult test with four qualifiers on the back of a WC and a hampered/ split transfer window.
The club knew we were dependent on CL revenue to run at current costs, were well aware of ALL the above factors and that the manager had said openly we needed to replenish/ improve the team to do this, but here we are looking desperate and disheveled.
Whether it was the old complacency, or an ignorance of the fact we were losing momentum (and results prove this) - many of the current difficulties are of our own doing and nobody can fix it, but ourselves. The team needs to react positively and confidently over the next few weeks and the Board needs to react . accordingly.

So can any of you guys tell me the financial situation before BR arrived? how much we were in debt from RD era and who paid for that?
In no way am I board apologist or fansatist I am a realist about the current climate in football. We can't spend the amounts of money we would all love us to. The only way I can see the board spending any money of any decent amounts above what we have already spent is by selling our top assets, I for one would rather we kept them to be honest.

We have money in the bank. Board didn't do it's job. Unless you are serious about the disco lights being a investment.

Happyhoppy if you read my post properly I said stadium improvements not stadium investments, yes and that money in the bank will obviously make up the shortfall for not qualifying for CL some people just don't seem to get it.

In an ideal world DD would be pumping a bit of extra cash into the club and there would be no worries but he isn't so we have to live within out means end of.
Assets will be sold eventually BR will move on and we will build again.
I for one will just enjoy what we have right now as it definitely won't last forever.

Agree in part with happyhoop, if the wage bill is £50mill then that's way too high, even if we do have CL in the bank we can't go spun King that on more players to add to a bloated wage bill n squad. Recruitment over the years has left us in this position and we need to get rid of the dead wood before adding quality. Allen, Hayes, Christie, hendry, etc all add up to 2 quality players wage wise, adding more when the other won't leave is suicide n means any money we have made is getting poured into wages for squad players. Can't just add, add, add. Rodgers has actually bought 3 defenders and GK who were not good enough for first team, until he ships some on he can't add another.

Was just reading how John Hughes made his debut at 17, Billy McNeill at 18 and Bertie Auld a wee bit older, all within a couple of years of each other, if only we could bring more young guys through rather than relying on buying in talent.
