As assistant perhaps.

Why was he released?

I think he makes a better coach or assistant than a manager but I doubt he would want to 'demote' himself after being in charge of his last couple of clubs.
Always wondered how the likes of Roy Aitken or Tommy Boyd never get a nod? They were good captains, motivators and leaders and love the club
Not sure about their credentials but either of them would ( or a few other ex players) be better than Collins.

Another failure in England that no doubt some posters will look to find a place for somewhere in the Celtic dug-out .

if u watched last nights game reading v qpr u wouldn't need to ask why he got sacked the team were rotten mind u so were qpr whiuch makes it laughable when i read how celtic would struggle in the champuionship down here.

Why would u want steve Clarke anyway? Good assistant apparently but not a good manager. How many if any of our previous deputy managers would you hVe been confident being the manager? Not many me thinks. any suggestions? Big Johan?

Do you think Ronnie would do any better at Reading than Clarke did. Don't think so.

I for 1 wanted Steve Clarke at Celtic before Ronny was appointed. I think he would do a great job for us and is far more tactically aware than Ronny. He was offered the Fulham job a few weeks ago and turned it down which shows how much loyalty reading have. Can still see him at Fulham tho as don't think they have got a manager yet. I would offer him assistant role to the end of season and give JC the boot and if there is improvement then promote him to manager as he can'wt do any worse than what we currently have.

{Ed007's Note - The fans wouldn't like Steve Clarke any more than they would RD, he's a brilliant coach but never a head coach or manager. So what's Clarke done to make him such an attractive option when one of the accusations aimed at RD is his lack of management experience and his supposed lack of winning things, did you ever watch any WBA or Reading games to see how his teams set-up or play?}

A team that is doing well usually has a good manager. Then we read in the media that the club has a brilliant assistant manager. I am sure few people outside the club know how good an Assistant Manager the club has. Whether an assistant manager is good or not is usually down to gossip or idle media speculation .
