Craig Burley he seems to be the man in the know, claiming Dembele is off to Chelsea in the summer. Any word on this 007/ 002?

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement that makes anything certain. Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Juventus, Napoli, Liverpool, Wolfsburg, Marseille, Everton and Spurs had also been looking at Dembele since the start of last season before he opted to move to Celtic for the playing time. Recent glances from Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Monaco have led Celtic to put an unrealistic price on the player that could block any move in the short term - although Chelsea may well seek to get an early agreement for a summer transfer with a cash deal - potentially augmented by a player.}

1.) 21 Feb 2017 20:54:59
Much appreciated. I'd take your word over his. But, is "no agreement that makes anything certain" the same as no agreement at all?

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement at all Jim.}

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Liverpool reportedly making contact about Onyekuru 😕

1.) 25 Jan 2017 12:33:18
As quoted by his agent! Think the games have begun with this kids representatives! Clubs Chief exec has also stated he is to good to move to Scotland and should go to Germany!

2.) 25 Jan 2017 13:43:09
To good he's playing with an unheard of Belgian team, think they're trying to drive the price up better to leave this one alone me thinks

19 Dec 2016 04:05:54
Just reading there we had scouts at the Anderlecht Eupen game last night. Could lead to nothing of course but Belgium and particularly Anderlecht could be a good hunting ground for us imo and there's a few players there who wet my lips. Tielemans and Dendoncker (scored twice) the pick of the bunch, like Dembele, widely considered Europe's better prospects. There's Kara who I have seen mentioned by a few folk on here and is a classy centre half, a big athlete too. Or possibly from Eupen, they have a handy wing forward by the name of Henry Onyekuru.

1.) 19 Dec 2016 09:07:58
All good that you might be looking at Tielemans and Dendoncker but that is as far as that one will go. Kara, yeah sure he could be a good signing for you, but he'd cost you £5mil plus. That doesn't exactly work with the Celtic transfer policy (buy low sell high) . If I'm being honest aswell I don't see many players wanting to leave belgium and come to Scotland, they have a better quality of league over there. Unless ofcourse it is players who aren't getting first team action.

2.) 19 Dec 2016 10:17:07
OSA, thankfully I don't think 5m will be an issue now; with Rodgers in, Dermot Desmond having a bit of a wake up, and no John Park/ Peter Lawell transfer team. I think we'll now start to see the correct levels of investment, that we should have all along.

As for players coming to Scotland from Belgium. I don't see why Glasgow Celtic, playing in the Champions League regularly can't attract players from Belgium. We could always offer them more money if we're not attractive enough already. Dembele came from a better quality league.

3.) 19 Dec 2016 10:36:30
Maybe Celtic will change their policy, maybe they will spend some of that money. Most players worth going for in Belgium play for the bigger sides, meaning they are already on a big wage and have European football each year, not to mention the football is far more competitive in Belgium. Dembele to Celtic was always a strange one to me, Maybe the lure of European football and Scotland being of a lesser quality made him and his agent think it was a good move?

4.) 19 Dec 2016 11:02:32
OSA, I understand where you're coming from. Take Dendoncker for example. A young player, already playing for the biggest club in their homeland, already with the prospect of European football, might not see Celtic as a step forward. Then again they might. That said player might not be Belgian either, and might see Celtic as a more attractive option (I'm biased aye, but I would) . I still think we have the financial muscle too, to offer a player in Belgium a better salary. And let's face it, money often talks. The average Anderlecht player salary is 600k pa, or roughly 12k a week. We're safe there. Anderlecht would be well within their rights to demand £20m for Dendoncker. But shy bairns get nothing, and unless we try we won't know. The club has adopted the wrong mentality for several years, and sadly it's rubbed off on a lot of the fans. End of, I'd dare to dream and go for a player like that, and I've seen stranger moves than a player going from Anderlecht to Celtic.

{Ed001's Note - Celtic do have a lot more money than any team in Belgium. Also Belgian teams are built around selling to survive, so they are always willing to accept offers that match their asking price for a player.}

5.) 19 Dec 2016 11:21:03
I thought we did have Ed, that's a good added point about their strategy as clubs.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

6.) 19 Dec 2016 11:44:12
Wages won't be the issue it'll be the asking price, if i'm being honest I hope you do manage to improve your squad, Scotland needs a team doing well in Europe right now.

16 Dec 2016 08:40:44
Morning Ed, quick question if you have the time. What have you heard about Hibs approaching us for KC?

{Ed007's Note - It seems to be the worst kept secret in football for a good few months.}

1.) 16 Dec 2016 16:45:12
Cheers. I didn't realise the news had broken about him having a medical. I wasn't sure if the papers were just putting two and two together.

22 Sep 2016 10:06:26
Victor Lindelof. Supposedly the player we keep watching at Benfica.

1.) 22 Sep 2016 12:00:01
Ah our legendary Benfica scout finally putting a bit of work in?

2.) 22 Sep 2016 13:34:44
Looks like he's finally spotted somebody, mikeb!

{Ed007's Note - So after all this time our scout has finally spotted a player that Chelsea were trying to buy for £25 million (Lindelof's release clause fee) if they couldn't get David Luiz back and a player who Benfica turned down a £20 million bid from Man Utd for in the summer?
Considering Inter Milan, Napoli, Juve, Real Madrid, Barca, Arsenal, Man City and Spurs have all shown varying degrees of interest - and Middlesbrough who thought they had stole a march on everyone and had him tied up for £20 million last January - I think someone's been pulling your leg, Jimbo. Or you're reading those inferior websites again.... naughty Bhoy!}

3.) 22 Sep 2016 16:04:06
You see, THAT'S why I come on here (yes) .

First I've heard of the player Ed.

It was on the DR web page, so aye!

{Ed007's Note - I'm surprised they didn't say he was heading to Ibrox. (yes)

4.) 22 Sep 2016 19:36:21
Here he said just looked at him. I look at rolexs all the time but never get one.

5.) 22 Sep 2016 19:13:37
Ed

So you are telling us there is a chance? (Famous Dumb and Dumber quote, couldn't resist) .

{Ed007's Note - Never say never as anything can happen but I think there's more chance of Gazza sorting himself out.}

6.) 22 Sep 2016 21:51:25
2 scary things about that.

1) the DR thinking we could sign this guy.

2) that Boro as a championship team at the time would have spent 20 million on 1 player.

7.) 22 Sep 2016 22:33:23
Scary things indeed a Celtic fan admitted that he reads and quotes from the Daily Record.

8.) 23 Sep 2016 09:14:52
Same goes for your posts chris.

9.) 24 Sep 2016 01:39:45
It would be utterly hilarious if said scout was PLS mates nan expat with a season ticket. Who knows?

10.) 25 Sep 2016 20:14:24
Saw the story a few days ago and filed it under "paper pish talk". From my understanding he has a £20 million buyout clause, which his club think is too low and for that reason are trying to get him to sign a new contract.

His current contract does not run out until 2020, so there is no way we could get him at a price we would be willing to pay.

I was delighted to see us in for Henry Onyekuru, but the whole spitting his dummy out with his club and going AWOL was a bit of a cause for concern. I chuckled just then when reading a move to Celtic being talked up by none other than, wait for it, Peter Odemwingie.

1.) 07 Feb 2017 10:43:43
I was just reading that JT and he's hardly the role model for advice lol.

2.) 07 Feb 2017 11:22:00
hes in the celtic park car park in his car camped out waiting for the summer transfer window as we speak lol.

3.) 07 Feb 2017 12:05:13
Exactly what I was thinking Tick.

Nice one James 😃.

13 Jan 2017 11:36:55
Morning Ed, if you get chance, do you know if Bastia and Anderlecht are actually talking to us about Ambrose and Boyata respectively? Seems to be a few rags on these rumours.

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate, Ambrose will more than likely be in France to finalise the deal this weekend and Boyata will move back to Belgium by next weekend but not necessarily to Anderlecht as there are a few teams interested in him as well as some interest from the Championship and perhaps Wolves.}

1.) 13 Jan 2017 14:23:53
Thanks a lot, that's why you da man. Reckon there could be a CB on the horizon then?

{Ed007's Note - If the exits happen it's got be as we'd be extremely short at CB. I should have said that Bastia initially wanted Ambrose on a pre-contract but Celtic told the player to tell them they won't be difficult to deal with this month and the Bastia coach today has said he will have 2 new CBs by Monday.}

2.) 13 Jan 2017 15:11:43
I'd be chuffed if we could get 1-2m between them! That's what I was thinking, if they both leave, one injury in that department and we're snookered.

3.) 13 Jan 2017 16:47:04
Jim Tim

We have Simunovic, Sviachenko, Toure and Lustig who can all play at centre half so not sure how 1 injury will leave us snookered. We also have the option of 3 at the back and both Tierney and Izzy have played in there this season so think we are covered for now.

I would like to see us thinning out the midfield a bit as we are still heavy on numbers in there.

4.) 13 Jan 2017 15:05:06
Ed I've heard Bailley is off to Seria A as well?

5.) 13 Jan 2017 15:37:20
Ed i heard that Ambrose wanted to stay in Scotland because he was trying to get UK citizenship and only had to wait till july. Is that bollocks?

{Ed007's Note - You need to continue living in the UK after you are awarded citizenship so Efe could only sign for a British team so Ambrose can't apply for citizenship AND sign a pre-contract with a European team.

https://www.gov.uk/becoming-a-british-citizen/check-if-you-can-apply

6.) 13 Jan 2017 19:47:43
Niall, I think it would. Say Erik got injured for several weeks. That leaves us Kolo and Jozo (who have question marks over playing 90mins every game) and young Ajer, who to be fair to the lad is still learning the ropes (although I'd like to see him get featured) . I'd put Lustig out the equation too as you need two players for every position, and may be needed at RB (worst case scenarios we're talking now) . Having to adjust your shape based on tactics is fine. Having to do it due to injury shows a lack of depth. Ideally you want two players for every position, and an extra one for each dept., imo. That means 5 CBs, if Lustig was the 5th, that only leaves us with one RB (again, worst case scenario) . Hope that makes sense, but you have to prepare for the worst.

7.) 13 Jan 2017 20:49:34
Ed that being the case that Ambrose needs to stay in uk to gain uk citizenship then he is going nowhere. can't see why he would go now

{Ed007's Note - So why's he planned to hold talks with a team in France?}

06 Dec 2016 21:44:51
Pleased with that. There were spells particularly in the second half there where we looked the better side.

Armstrong MoM for me. Yet another European tie where he covered more grass than anybody. He played a great passing game tonight.

We might be rock bottom of that group but there are positives and promising signs to be taken from this season's CL campaign.

1.) 06 Dec 2016 22:01:47
Definitely jimtim, biggest disappointment for me over the 6 games was the performance against the Germans at parkhead. Taking Barcelona aside, I feel there's plenty of positives to take from the two city games and the game in Germany. Was always going to be a massive ask to come out of that group and stay in Europe. Roll on the champions league next season.

{Ed007's Note - Nobody really expected to take anything from Barca - and we played well against them at Celtic Park - but nobody expected us to take anything from City and to get 2 draws, regardless of who they played tonight as it was still a £200 million team I seen someone say, is nothing short of fantastic.
And the fact is we're actually taking the game to these teams rather than sitting back and try and spring a counter-attack and snatch scraps.}

2.) 06 Dec 2016 22:21:26
Well said Ed. Our play in the away two away games we got draws was very refreshing.

3.) 06 Dec 2016 22:28:48
The BMG at home was always going to be a big game for us Garry. Take into account now we've managed to get points off City twice and away in Germany, that result really was a sore one.

That's the main thing for me Ed. The confidence in our own ability, and knowing that if you make the ball do the work, any side will not just be forced to allow us to play, but also give us the respect to do so. The way we move as a unit now though is a big part of that.

Just a few key signings away from a right good side I think.

4.) 06 Dec 2016 22:42:25
Couldn't agree more ed, definitely more positives than negatives to be taken from this years European games.

5.) 06 Dec 2016 22:44:11
Agreed. No doubt we'll hear about their b team etc, but lest we forget, one of our best players, and a starter tonight, can't even get into said b team. It was a good performance and a terrific result.

6.) 06 Dec 2016 22:44:28
Good point Ed, since BR took over we've seen that same attitude in pretty much every game. HH.

7.) 06 Dec 2016 22:44:34
Sums it up Ed. £200 million on the park and the players used will be considered second rate and the excuse for that result.

{Ed007's Note - The only City player that caught the eye was Paddy Roberts! I was hoping after he scored he had ripped his shirt off to reveal a KIERAN TIERNEY'S FENIAN ARMY tattoo before throwing his shirt in Guardiola's face. :-D

8.) 07 Dec 2016 16:42:58
hahaha that's the most i laughed in a while.

{Ed007's Note - It would have been awesome but we'd have had Nora on moaning about his tattoo and how he was booked for taking his shirt off.}

25 Nov 2016 11:38:00
It's so refreshing to read some of the comments coming from Moussa Dembele. That he sees his future here, isn't thinking about moves etc. Of course we might have our hand forced with a bid at some point, but it's nice to think that like, say, Henke, we could enjoy several years of a top talent scoring goals for us who appreciates where he is at.

1.) 25 Nov 2016 16:34:01
He has 4 year contract and Celtic won't let him enter last year in case they lose transfer fee. My guess is we will offer him new contract this summer or next summer and hope he stays. If he does not sign I can see him being sold in summer 2018.

{Ed007's Note - And if he's leaving in 2018 hopefully it's after he's been to the World Cup with France.}

2.) 25 Nov 2016 16:56:33
I certainly think we should be looking to extend his contract at the end of this season Rab. Perhaps even with a good buy out clause? That's a fair point about the World Cup too. If he continues the way he's going for the u21s he could easily be called up by then.

3.) 25 Nov 2016 17:14:14
I would be happy if he left in summer 2018 and I think that is the most likely date
The MSSM seem v anxious to upset him as they seem to enquire every week about when he is leaving.

4.) 25 Nov 2016 19:34:52
Oldbhoy and you are supporting the MSSM by discussing it just like them.
Personally if he goes I think the refs will be to blame lol.

5.) 26 Nov 2016 00:22:26
I think u misunderstand what I am doing, I am posting Dembele to stay 3 yrs, MSSM are asking him is he leaving in January .

17 Oct 2016 11:08:13
Attention to the CL now, and I think 4 points against BM is certainly achievable. Generally speaking I feel they're vetter on paper, but it's not played on paper. They're struggling to adapt to their new system/ shape and are going to be missing some of their most dangerous players. They play with a back 3 and wing backs typically. I can see them playing quite flat mostly away from home, which should allow us to dictate things. If and when they do decide to push on, I feel we've got what it takes in the forward and wide areas to punish them. It might realistically be a race for the EL between us and BM, but I think wednesday could be a cracker.

1.) 17 Oct 2016 11:18:57
Let's hope they turn up just on paper then. That will be easy.

2.) 17 Oct 2016 15:01:36
here's a question Bitton says he wants the noise to be turned up Wednesday after cl games my vocals and throat are in turmoil could wee lift it any higher lol?

3.) 17 Oct 2016 16:17:09
Sorry Jimtim but it is guys like you and a couple of my own tim mates who seem to think wednesday's game is already in the bag, all German teams are physically strong, well drilled and extremely fit, it will take a big big effort on our part to win. Also our european away form is nothing to write home about so even hoping for a draw there is a big ask, Celtic must improve in these away games to merit anything.
My mates are already counting the points because they "might" have a couple of players injured, but it never works out that way. I guarantee this game on wednesday will be as hard, if not harder than the other 2 games we have already played.
To end on a positive note, I think Rodgers has already changed our mindset and the players are more positive approaching these big games, so hopefully a hard 1-0 victory for us.

4.) 17 Oct 2016 16:40:35
There will be nothing easy on Wednesday night Timalloy and I think most of our fans know it . If we are to win on Wednesday night we need the whole team and the subs used all to play out of their skin .
Luckily enough we have Brendan Rodgers who is very adept at getting the best out of his charges and so I am looking forward to a brilliant game and the right result.

5.) 17 Oct 2016 18:00:05
Nobody I know thinks it's in the bag on Wednesday. If your mates do they don't seem the brightest.

This is a Bundesliga top four club.

They are still favourites.

6.) 17 Oct 2016 18:01:47
I don't think it's in the bag at all. I know they're a good side, I acknowledged that they have some better players than ours. All I said was that a win was achievable, no harm in guys like me.

7.) 17 Oct 2016 19:04:39
I agree jimtim, I don't read your post as this game being straight forward for Celtic. Like you I feel if we're to make the Europa league, or at least give ourselves a chance of it then Wednesday is a must win for us. Every honest Celtic fan knows how good and well organised German teams are but IF, and I say IF they have the injuries that are being reported we really need to try and take full advantage of that. All that being said it in no way means this is a stone wall 3 points. If we put in the same desire, determination etc as the man city game then the Germans will know they've had to work hard to take anything from the game.

8.) 17 Oct 2016 20:01:46
I'd like us not to ship 3 ourselves again Garry don't get me wrong, but like you say IF, without leaving ourselves too exposed of course, we can press and harry the way we did against City, and make them work as hard as we did then, we can do them. A wee bit of positivity now and again is ok.

9.) 17 Oct 2016 23:07:29
Guys I think we may struggle with the Germans. I watch quite a bit of European games and there league position should not be touted as a reflection of there performances. Someone touched on it above, German team are all ruthlessly efficient, they hold formation well and can move the ball around quick, not to mention for the most part they are pretty big lads. I think yeah we can get 3pts from Wed night, but at what cost. My main concern is carrying a tired team into the cup game. Remember after Man C game, we struggled at Dundee for the same reason. I would like to think we still have to much for the huns but I don't want to tempt fate here. Personally I can't wait till its past the now, because 2 do-ins in a row would be unanswerable. If they do the un thinkable and put us out another cup, well, its not worth thinking about.

Aindoh, whilst I can totally appreciate money may be better spent in a football sense, by a club. Don't go using the 'there are kids starving line' dude. It's too blase really. All over the globe and throughout society money could be better spent. You might as well say somebody's season book money could be 'better spent'.

AG, somebody who has seen both teams in the flesh might be better qualified than myself, but I'd back the current side. Like you say the way the game has developed, the quick and short interchanges around the box, technically better players who are faster and stronger and can last longer, continuous high pressing and quick build up play. Would a team from the 60's cope with all that?

Interesting. The current team v. Lisbon Lions point, I asked my dad when the unbeaten run was broken if any of this side would get in the Lions team. "No" was all I got. I then made the point that athletes now are faster, stronger and fitter, they don't have a fag at half time etc etc. He wasn't having any of it.
