Ed, great to see you back on mate.
Given the rebuild that will be needed in the summer with players leaving, do you think someone short term until the end of the season works? Would the likes of Keane/ O'Neill/ Strachan come in knowing they are on a hiding to nothing.

I don't think either of the 3 mentioned above would gain support from the majority of fans for one reason or another. The last thing we need is the negatively rumbling on.

I think we need to identify the best man for the long term and get him on a long term contract. If that means paying comp to release him from a club then so be it. Lawell needs to give him total control of footballing side of things or get a DoF and a coach who is willing to work under him.

Until reading the site I hadn't seen Cocu/ Jackie Mac mentioned. Is this your preference or is there more in it?

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, Del. The Cocu/McNamara thing is just something that came into my head the other day. I think we can forget all the talk of of Howe etc as I think outsiders will see it as a poisoned chalice this season and a MON/Keane or WGS is more likely, what young(ish) coach trying to build or rebuild his rep like Rodgers would risk it all on winning/losing 10IAR.}

ED. A young coach could also look at it as an opportunity, in that we are not that far behind and they would be lauded if they pulled it off.
I hope you are keeping well ED. I have tested positive for C.V. so I am Isolating for a while.

{Ed007's Note - Aw sorry to hear that mate, I'll keep you in my prayers and hope you recover soon.}

I'd be surprised if MON would risk his reputation and want the stress given what's at stake this season.

Strachan, I think he could steady the ship but would he come in with his own coaching team and put his son out of a job? Would it be fair if Gavin was kept on? He'd probably be happy enough to not look beyond the end of the season giving Desmond time to identify the right man long term.

Keane, I just can't see him wanting it unless its a long term contract, total control over players and a big budget to change things.

I'm not convinced by talk of Howe. I think he'd fancy himself as a contender for most jobs when the pub league manager Merry go round starts. I don't think he'd fancy leaving the south coast and moving to Scotland either. There's talk he didn't enjoy living in Burnley.

Cocu could be a good shout. I would be happy enough with him. I'm sure he was spoke about for us a few years back as well.

My preference would be burst the bank and offer Marco Rose what he wants to take the job but there's no chance he'd swap the Bundesliga for Scotland.

Zeljko Buvac is another I think we should consider. Great reputation as a coach and talk he wanted to be a manager in his own right when he stepped away as Klopp no.2 at Liverpool. Not sure what he is doing these days.

Whatever happens I hope it happens fast. I didn't want Lennon back 2nd time round but some of the stuff I am looking at online is disgusting. When its announced wish him well and move on.
