I see a lot of rumours flying about that the Spl are about to declare the season over, declare Celtic as Champions, and not penalise clubs for going into administration.
Surely they can only wait and follow what happens in other countries?

If all the other leagues decide to finish the current season then I can't see the sense in The Scottish league starting next season at the same time. If that was the case then clubs here would need to compensate fans who have been short changed this season thus adding to each clubs debts.

I think that we should just take our lead from what every other league does and follow the same model otherwise we could be playing a different season to everyone else with all the problems that will create for European qualifications.

If that's true it wouldn't surprise me if the reason was to ensure Sevco don't get punished for going into administration.

2.) 30 Mar 2020 23:07:45
So the football authorities would be saying it’s ok to bump suppliers and players and staff and not being punished or be made to sell all players that your club can’t afford or probably couldn’t afford but you signed anyway? The recent calls for sporting integrity seem more laughable now? 😂 what happens when loan players loan agreements run out?

3.) 30 Mar 2020 23:15:35
I agree BB I think they are trying not to show if they believe that Servco are a new entity or not as far as I believe if a club goes into administration twice they receive 20 points deduction and if they believe they are a new club it will be 10 points So too protect them selves they may try to waiver any point deductions. Unless it's to start in the new season?

4.) 31 Mar 2020 23:44:09
If this is true, it will because there might be a good few clubs going into administration, depending how long this virus goes on, we might not reach the peak until the start of may, and the lockdown might not be eased until the middle of June, and then the virus might come back in a second wave. I think the only way clubs can survive, including our own is to stop paying players wages, at the current rate, because if the club's keep paying wages when there is no income it will only leaf to misery as Mr Micawber said.

I saw a rumour that Norwich and a few other clubs are looking to take Patrick Roberts on loan next season and hijack the deal he has with Celtic.
I've no idea what the details are of his loan, but I wondered if this could actually happen?
I'm not a great fan of loan signings, but if this is true, then it just shows what a nonsense a lot of them are.

1.) 03 Jun 2016 13:04:03
It woukd be a hammer blow. Arguably our mist gifted player and has the sort of return a Celtic winger should have. Having a pkayer like that on loan though, we'd only have ourselves to blame.

2.) 03 Jun 2016 15:46:45
Gerryc i wouldn't worry too much. As much as i'm not a PL fan, i'm sure he will have made sure there was no call back option for man city as a 6 month loan would of been pointless for both parties. After the success of developing Denayer it would be in Roberts best interest to stay put.

3.) 03 Jun 2016 17:52:43
Why are some of you guys going on about zlatan it will never happen get a grip of reality it's absolutely nonsense.

4.) 03 Jun 2016 19:17:48
I haven't seen the odds from the bookies, but if it was true that Celtic were second favourites for his signature, then why wouldn't fans want to talk about it.
There's enough nonsense spouted on your own sites for you to worry about without you bothering what is written on ours.

5.) 03 Jun 2016 19:54:50
Gerry what makes u think wullie1967 is one of them? A would've thought 1967 would give u a hint? Maybe am wrong n it's the year he was born but even if it was, what rangers man would put our finest year into his name?

6.) 03 Jun 2016 22:51:25
Well said Stephbhoy and gerryc I'm a real Celtic supporter don't miss a game and I'm not stupid in thinking zlatan comming to Celtic stupid rumours like that are embarrassing.

7.) 04 Jun 2016 09:47:28
why is it embarrassing wullie, the man himself said he would love to play for us, are we not allowed to think that maybe he was considering us?, its a rumours page mate. i found it quite refreshing to see us linked with a class act rather than the usual dross .

8.) 04 Jun 2016 10:14:57
Exactly bhoywonder it's a rumour page it was never going to happen, don't no if you no but people make this stuff up all the time especially on here you could start a rumour on here about Messi comming and it would take off lol
Hail hail.

9.) 04 Jun 2016 10:39:22
Wullie 1967, I apologise to you, I made a mistake in reading your post.

10.) 04 Jun 2016 10:46:00
i get what your saying wullie but i felt this was different as in he's spoke of his admiration for us and his agent saying some will be surprised, in reality were today linked with steven taylor, give me a ibra fantasy than a taylor reality every time pal.

11.) 04 Jun 2016 14:49:32
A think we are all just wanting a name in and hopefully it will happen soon hail hail.

12.) 05 Jun 2016 04:03:11

A few years ago I said that Peter Lawwell's ambition is to win the league by 1 point so that he can claim success without spending a penny more than necessary. I think that has been proven as apart from the couple of years under Rodgers we have never looked like progressing in the way we should have done with our financial advantages.
After Rodgers walked out on us the right thing to do would be to have looked for a manager who would have continued what Rodgers started and maybe even improved on it but typically with this board they went for the cheap option and undone all the work that was done, instead of making progress we have set things back alarmingly.
Lennon did a good job in seeing us through the season after Rodgers walked out on us but that should have been as far as it went, he should never have been given the job permanently, they just can't help themselves in looking for the cheap option.
I am also a believer that you should never take your rivals for granted, it looks to me that our board believes that sevco would always be rubbish so there is never any urgency in trying to improve us. In the last couple of years sevco have kept pace with us up till Christmas then fell away, it doesn't take a genius to figure that eventually they will strengthen enough to keep going the whole season. I hope they collapse this season but I don't think they will.
Most clubs in our position would try to be ambitious by qualifying for the Champions league, we on the other hand are quite happy to stand still and sell our best players to make money, we should be more ambitious than that. I don't like the way Rodgers walked out on us but as an ambitious manager having to work under these conditions I can understand why.
The opportunity to win 10 in a row will probably never happen again yet our players don't look interested, It saddens me to see that sevco's desire to stop us doing the ten is far greater than our desire to achieve it.
If we don't turn things round quickly then it's not just Lennon that should walk but Lawwell should as well and take his penny pinching ways with him.

Good points, well made GerryC. We now sit 11 point's adrift in 2nd spot with two games in hand.
Our manager astounds us with both team selection and tactics in almost every game this season and with every rubbish performance blames everyone else but himself, yesterday throwing his Captain under the bus.
The biggest season in most of our lifetimes and Lenny doesn't have the answers. Time for this rubbish show to be sorted.

26 Aug 2020 22:23:03
Against Cluj last year Lennon picked the wrong team, against Sevco in December he picked the wrong team, and tonight he picked the wrong team.
On each occasion we have lost, Lennon seems incapable of learning any lessons.
In those games also, we were behind, drew level, then still messed it up, it happened against Copenhagen also.
In my opinion we have better players than all these teams so the responsibility has to fall on the manager.
Bad results will always happen in football but this is happening time and again so can't be put down to bad luck.
We need someone in charge who doesn't make the same mistakes time after time.

1.) 26 Aug 2020 23:37:51
Couldn't have put it better myself.

2.) 27 Aug 2020 00:30:52
The whole problem recently has been putting away the chances we are given. 30 odd shots against this lot and not even a third of them on target. They had a couple of chances and scored twice.

11 Aug 2020 13:25:33
Will this news about the games being called off affect the Champions league qualifier next week?

gerryc

1.) 11 Aug 2020 13:36:55
Was just going to post the same question. surely eufa wiil look at this.

2.) 11 Aug 2020 13:43:41
does say pending goverment allow our game to be played, so i would imagine there is a good chance of this being moved to an away game.

3.) 11 Aug 2020 13:56:48
It would be ironic if we were to be thrown out of the competition due to the stupid actions of one player when Sevco have broke any number of rules over the years yet no action has ever been taken.

4.) 11 Aug 2020 14:02:20
At this point we need to wake up. This is our making and our players error. Nothing do with rangers breaking whatever rules your talking about 10 years ago.

5.) 11 Aug 2020 14:25:51
It is disgraceful what’s happened and there is no getting away from that fact.
Celtic are understandably shocked and stunned that one of our players was capable of doing this. It’s still hard to believe. His wife must be as bright as him.
Other rules have been broken with Sevco thinking it was okay not to test players and then the Aberdeen players fiasco. But Boli takes the biscuit.

6.) 11 Aug 2020 14:43:01
Well said DK_96. I couldn’t care less what rangers or any other team are doing or saying. We need to concentrate on Celtic and achieving a record that I believe will never be matched in Scotland. We have the stature, the wealth, and the support to blow away everybody else in this country this year and only WE can feck this up. So come on everybody within the Celtic staff, do your jobs to get the indiscipline sorted and the required players recruited and the fans will do our bit. (If they stop moaning about the rangers and other trivia)

7.) 11 Aug 2020 14:47:24
DK-96. This is not our or the club's making, it is entirely down to the stupidity of one player.
As I see it they may as well cancel the whole league because there is no way of guaranteeing that any individual at a football club will never break the rules. It will only take one employee to go on to a crowded beach or go into a shop without a mask or pop next door when they shouldn't and the whole weight of the government will come crashing down on them.
My argument is not to make light of what Bolingoli did, but more about how can employers be expected to control what an employee does in their own time away from their work.
If any employee of a company in any walk of life breaks the law you would expect them to be charged and face the courts, they would likely lose their job, but would it be right that the people who employed them would also be punished, it would be ridiculous.
If as a society we put all the responsibility for C.V. onto businesses and employers then we will be in lockdown forever, individuals need to be responsible for their own actions.

I was really proud of the team today everyone did their jobs brilliantly.
With being away in Europe on Thursday, a makeshift defence, and some new players still to feature, I wonder how the Sevco media will spin this in the days ahead.
Well done to everyone.

I was just going to say the same thing. All the negativity around lennon, brown, bolingoli etc over the last few weeks. We are way ahead of that lot who were full strength today. We had a defence that was thrown together and we have so many players coming back from injury, . Getting up to match fitness etc. This international break will do us the world of good and we are only going to get stronger.

If the fee for Roberts is way beyond what we can afford then fair enough, if however our board are playing silly games with Man City and we end up losing out on his signature, then I reckon there will be a fair bit of anger amongst the supporters.
With the money we earned last season from the Champions league, the money we will get when Van Djik moves on, and 50.000 season tickets sold, it would be terrible to lose a player of Roberts ability due to us trying to be too clever for our own good.

I think first of all a player has to have ability, the fitness side of things come afterwards.
I think a lot of the modern coaches are only interested in how athletic a player is, it doesn't seem to matter to them if they can actually trap a ball correctly or be able to make a pass to a teammate.
I've said it before, but I wonder how many of the modern coaches would have Jimmy Johnston in their teams?, I reckon a lot of them wouldn't like him dribbling with the ball, and they would no doubt want someone who tracked back better and had a good "engine".
I wouldn't mind betting there are quite a lot of young players out there who didn't make the grade because they were better footballers than athletes.

I thought Rodgers did a good job at Swansea but a poor job at Liverpool. I hope to goodness it's the Rodgers from Swansea that we see and not the Rodgers from Liverpool.
It always looked to me when I saw Liverpool play that he couldn't sort out their defence, if he struggles to sort out our defence then we are going to be in trouble.

The thing that surprises me is that Lennon doesn't try making a few changes.
We seem to stick with Brown, McGregor, Christie, etc every match hoping things will change.
I feel last night was a perfect opportunity to mix things up a bit seeing as we are already out of the competition.

I think the performances of the team in recent weeks have been disrespectful and degrading.
No body wants to see violence in any form but if the people at the club had done something to try and remedy this situation yesterday's scenes would never have happened.
For years the board at Celtic have arrogantly ignored the views of supporters and continually fobbed them off with second best.
Whilst not condoning what happened yesterday there was always going to be a point in time when the patience of some fans snapped.
The club need to try and engage more with fans, after all who was it that said "football is nothing without them".

ED. A young coach could also look at it as an opportunity, in that we are not that far behind and they would be lauded if they pulled it off.
I hope you are keeping well ED. I have tested positive for C.V. so I am Isolating for a while.

The season is far from over but only if something is done very soon in my opinion.
There seems to be a complacency from the boardroom down to the playing staff for a while now and the lack of fans inside the ground only seems to add to it.
After every disastrous result fans are looking for the club to do something to show that they are dealing with the situation but nothing seems to happen. Every game we play at the moment seems worse than the previous one. A week ago it seemed a bad result at Hibs, on Thursday we were worse against Prague, and now we are losing at home to Ross County.
I'm not saying we have a divine right to win any of these games but we do have a right to expect a level of performance from the players which has been missing for most of this season.
A lot of fans have paid out hard earned money to buy season tickets when it's likely most of them won't get to a game this season. In return for this gift it's surely not too much to ask that everyone at the club does their utmost to repay them.
