Problems with identifying a suitable manager:
Poor quality league
Wealthy neighbours down south
Limited transfer budget
Transfer signing policy?
Comparatively low salary

Positives:
Historical club
Massive loyal support
Large budget (for Scotland)
Celtic vs TRFC games
Potential champions league

Lots to consider, and factor in the limited timescale, and the new definition of success - many fans demanding CL and trebles.
Not an easy task.

Also don't forget a 1 year rolling contract.

Stepping stone to down south.

Was just looking at the salaries of the EPL manager's in 2014/ 15 and noticed that 5 club s pay a similar wage to Celtic.

Swansea
Stoke
Newcastle
Sunderland
Crystal Palace

Lambert was on 2M a year (about 2-3 more than we pay) . Everton and West Brom were only paying about double what we pay (1.5M) .

The big difference though is transfer budget but I don't see this being an issue for most because anyone who manages Celtic will have the best squad in the country and the biggest transfer budget as well.

The only stumbling block I see is the fact we play in Scotland which is inferior to a large number of leagues in Europe.

{Ed007's Note - I'm not 100% about Newcastle, Rab. When Pardew was manager there a massive chunk of his wages from his 8 year contract went to pay off his gambling debts to Ashley and Lambias, he was really given no more than a living allowance. Probably more than me or you right enough but still not his full pay.}

We have 34 senior players on the books, about 12 too many. If the 12 were sold on or even freed the cost savings could be enough to pay a good manager.

We have at least 12 players whom nobody wants, even if we gave them away.
