I want us to go get David De Gea. Think it could be another sort Joe Hart deal. A good solid 2/ 3 years of service. Also helps the club I feel with the so called big name player.
1.) 23 Jun 2024 08:32:59
I'd like us to go for the Georgia keeper. No idea who he is but he looks a bit mad.
2.) 23 Jun 2024 11:43:19
Would cost around 25milllion henrik so think we can rule that one out.
3.) 23 Jun 2024 13:49:55
One thing I like in my goalkeeper, is ability to make simple saves . David De Gea hasn’t learned that and I don’t want him coming to Celtic at his current age without having mastered that.
29 May 2024 18:07:36
For me this is a no brainer …… if we could bring in Édouard over Idah it’s simple as that. Massive step up and better chance in Europe.
1.) 29 May 2024 19:09:44
If we can punt kyogo for 3m, Oh for 2m, then go for both. 7m each.
2.) 29 May 2024 20:19:59
Why would we punt Kyogo and for less than we paid for him? ?, he’s not had his best season but still got 19 goals, he’s the most natural goalscorer at the club .
3.) 29 May 2024 21:41:06
He also signed a new 4 year deal which will take him up to July '27 but yes, let's sell him for a lot less than he is worth!
4.) 29 May 2024 21:57:21
If Brendan stays,
I would try and sell Kyogo.
Kyogo was available for all 50 Celtic games this season and in the vast majority of those games he was non existent, due to the role he was playing under Brendan.
I would hate to watch that again next season.
5.) 29 May 2024 22:06:22
Punt kyogo for 3 mill - you must be on drugs ??♂️.
Heard we're in for Daniel Amartey - ghana / besiktas.
6.) 30 May 2024 18:48:18
So exactly how much do you all think he's worth? How much have we raked in from selling our other 29 y/o top players?
7.) 30 May 2024 19:38:28
3 mil to low, 15 mil too high. I'd be happy with around 8 mil. It just depends if BR wants to keep him at the club or if he wants to go with a different type of striker next season.
8.) 30 May 2024 20:37:40
Yknow that scouts do watch players? Kyogo has been good but he ain't no leigh Griffiths. LG on his day was 10x the finisher. We ain't getting 8m.
{Ed007's Note - I've been saying the same thing for months mate, LG, Hooper, Scott McDonald, JVoH, Dembele & Edouard were all far better strikers than Kyogo is.
In saying that, if Arsene Wegner's changes to the offside rule - where there must be "daylight" between the attacker and defender for an offside offence to occur. If any part of the attacker's body, from which they can score, is in line with the last defender then this is considered onside - Kyogo could be unplayable and Maeda could really flourish as well.
But for me Kyogo doesn't have that striker's instinct to go sniffing out half chances and he misses far too many sitters where it is easier to score than miss.}
9.) 30 May 2024 21:32:03
8-10 mill for kyogo.
{Ed007's Note - Yeah in Yen! If it's a move back to Japan as is being muted anything over circa £5m would be the 2nd most expensive transfer in Japanese history since the Brazilian Jo a few years back.
For a guy that doesn't get a sniff at international level? No chance.}
10.) 01 Jun 2024 00:03:45
Even taking into account Ed007 rating of Kyogo, I think we would be stupid to let him go, unless he really forced our hands .
Kyogo can be completely outplayed for the complete ist half of game, when out of nothing he can grab a goal . Some. games that striker’s instinct is missing but no matter how bad he is playing, the opponents worry about him and have to pay an awful lot of attention to him as he can find an open space in penalty area even with teams playing with 6 or more defending deep .
If he is allowed to go and Idah can’t be got, I think we would be have a serious difficulty fielding a decent strike force at the start of next season.

04 Sep 2024 15:25:27
Agree or disagree?
Kyogo……
Best striker we had since .
King of kings?
I Agree.
1.) 04 Sep 2024 17:13:03
Disagree - for me it was dembele, then I would put Kyogo and Edouard.
{Ed007's Note - I'd take Chris Sutton (he left 2 years after Larsson), Gary Hooper, Leigh Griffiths, JVoH, Dembele and Edouard before Kyogo, he misses far too many sitters that a proper striker would thrive on, he is playing against the poorest standard of the Scottish league in a long time and he has done nothing in Europe.
Any one of those players I mentioned would score more goals for Celtic in a Brendan Rodgers team than Kyogo.}
2.) 04 Sep 2024 18:04:50
I like Kyogo but Celtic have had loads of good strikers since Larsson.
3.) 04 Sep 2024 18:06:33
Griff at his 40 goal season best.
4.) 04 Sep 2024 19:06:38
Hooper was such a natural goalscorer, he is right up there.
5.) 04 Sep 2024 19:45:28
Cheers guys, valid points. Love the wee lad but the above points make complete sense.
6.) 04 Sep 2024 20:28:31
Dembele, Edouard, Sutton, Hooper all better than Kyogo for me.
7.) 04 Sep 2024 21:11:28
A bit harsh on wee Kyogo guys… I agree all the strikers mentioned above were great servants to the club but you need to consider different managers, tactics and style of play, which I think makes comparisons more difficult. For example I’m not sure Sutton would have had the same success with Ange or Brendan’s approach to the game… but hey, all brilliant strikers in their own way ?.
8.) 05 Sep 2024 07:51:39
Disagree.
9.) 05 Sep 2024 09:50:02
Totally disagree
Even the past 10 years of the league we have had no rangers a couple seasons, much poorer teams than our own yet currently we are scoring more with kyogo as a focal point. If we had cleverer players hed score way more with his runs he makes, but them runs also allow the team to score
23/ 24 GF 95 Kyogo 14 ?
22/ 23 GF 114 Kyogo 27 ?
21/ 22 GF 92 Kyogo 12 ?
20/ 21 GF 78 Edouard 18 RUp
19/ 20 GF 89 Edouard 22 ?
18/ 19 GF 77 Edoaurd 15 ?
17/ 18 GF 73 Sinclair 10 ?
16/ 17 GF 106 Dembele 17 ?
15/ 16 GF 93 Griffiths 31 ?
14/ 15 GF 84 Griffiths 14 ?
I think Kyogo for me as a player is better, I'm sure Buzz has some mega stats that will analyse strikers since the king, but for me watching the lot kyogo is the cleverest and the competitiom is better now than it has been previous years.
10.) 05 Sep 2024 11:36:39
It’s all about opinions.
Yes there was no Ibrox club for 4 seasons but I still think Scottish Football was stronger 10 years ago.
I can’t remember Scottish Football being this poor.
11.) 05 Sep 2024 12:06:31
Still think Kyogo is the best since Larsson with Dembele a close second.
30 Aug 2024 23:20:01
??? said 8/ 10 weeks ago we will provial from this window stronger/ better than last decade!
I feel this has been achieved and have a excellent team. A team that will make a heavy impact on champions league.
Bookies tomorrow to place a wager…. Celtic fc go season unbeaten.
1.) 31 Aug 2024 06:47:30
I feel we have not improved much from last season, although financially our wages will be better as we managed to trim the squad, which I had wanted.
Trusty in, lagerbielke and Kobayashi out.
Valle in, Bernabei out
Schmeichel and Sinisalo in, hart and siegreist out.
McCowan in, Tillio, MJ and haksa out.
Engels in, mor, Kelly, iwata and McCarthy out.
My hope is this is just the start of something good.
2.) 31 Aug 2024 08:15:01
Is McCartgy away who did he goto.
3.) 31 Aug 2024 08:28:39
Not forgetting Oh and Vata.
16 Aug 2024 19:04:21
Is there anyone on here that’s part of the Liverpool supporter club? Runs out of Fitzgerald bar in Liverpool of course. I’ve moved down here and going to watch the game on the 1st against that lot.
03 Aug 2024 15:28:42
After seeing that today…… please get the biscuit Tin we’ll open and bury that lot for a very very long time.
Such a fantastic opportunity in front of us to what I would say already is secure that 10 in a row!
Europe of course we want progress!
Celtic let’s go!
1.) 03 Aug 2024 16:00:49
This season could be their last chance of CL football for a long time and if they fail,
10 in a row will be a very realistic target.
It’s obvious Sevco desperately need CL money to narrow the huge financial gap between the clubs.
But only the Champions of Scotland will go into the Qualifiers each season from next season onwards.
Second place can only enter the Europa League Qualifiers each season because Scotland have dropped down the Association Coefficient Table.
I don’t see Scotland getting back into the Top 10 before 2031 because our clubs have a terrible recent European record.
That should give Celtic a really good chance of 10 IAR
Sevco basically done all the hard work getting Scotland into the Top 10 only for Celtic to benefit.
But I don’t see their purple patch continuing.
So basically it isn’t ideal playing in Qualifiers each year but it’s the best thing to happen to keep that financial gap and a very good chance of 10 in a row.
2.) 03 Aug 2024 16:29:50
Great read Buzz. Yea I don’t think they will qualify this year at all. We are in such a positive position, just need the board to wake up and do what’s required.
Still confident when window closes, we will have the strongest team/ squad in over a decade.
3.) 03 Aug 2024 17:07:23
Celtic need to get our own house in order, our own squad in order before we start making outlandish statement s about rangers.
We are 2 injuries away from having no LB or CF.
4.) 03 Aug 2024 17:53:02
I'm certainly not getting over-confident or cocky, but if Celtic manage to buy the right quality in the right positions, then we will have an outstanding opportunity to progress to yet another level.
Building from a position of strength has haunted us in the past and I sincerely hope the Board speculate to accumulate as now is the time.
5.) 03 Aug 2024 17:55:16
I wouldn’t say it was an outlandish statement JJ.
I’m sure Sevco fans will start to fear the worst if they can’t get CL money this season.
Maybe another behind closed doors season would be their best hope, over the next 7 seasons.
6.) 03 Aug 2024 18:24:26
Can we stop 10iar talk, it’s utter nonsense and crippled us last time with the pressure it put on. It’s just a number it means nothing, like 55. Let’s just win this league, hopefully a cup or two, let’s try and win the next one. As long as we win 2 trophies for every 1 they do I’ll be perfectly happy.
7.) 03 Aug 2024 18:45:47
Stucol, I wish I had your confidence and I can’t understand what makes you think that.
I hope you know something I don’t.
8.) 03 Aug 2024 19:06:13
I just feel the board has had enough chances in the past, are they going make the same mistake again?
BR listening to his interviews, just sounds calm and confident he will get the players he wants. Would BR of ever come back if promises was not made. I think he would have been promised specially with the new Champions League format if we got into it ( wich we have ) a good spending budget.
I think a solid CB will come in with a striker and Lb minimum in the coming weeks.
Or I could look like a nugget when the window closes lol.
9.) 03 Aug 2024 19:18:04
It will be announced in September that Celtic will have over £100M of a start on our rivals.
If Sevco don’t get CL money this season, that will be nearer £150M this time next year, due to our 3rd consecutive CL campaign.
When Celtic failed in the behind closed doors season, we had about £30M up our cuff but this is now on another level.
It’s the last I will be mentioning it but it will happen, especially if Sevco get eliminated this month.
10.) 03 Aug 2024 19:46:04
Hi Buzz,
Where does the costs for the new training centre sit? I am sure I read we were also upgrading Lennoxtown. Was it not going to cost 20 million?
11.) 03 Aug 2024 20:23:01
I forgot about that expense North 18.
I wasn’t aware it would cost £20M but I don’t know.
The figures should be in our Annual Accounts.
Our Accounts will look healthy at the end of June 30th 2024 because the Abada money will be included, also season ticket cash and obviously the CL money from last season.
Plus any signings we make after June 30th will not be included.
I would love the next Celtic project to be a Hotel next to the Stadium.
12.) 03 Aug 2024 20:31:19
We will never bury them our board will never allow it, we'll do just enough in the coming years to dominate Scottish football, while taking a pasting in Europe. History has shown that we're content being ahead of them. Sad but true.
13.) 03 Aug 2024 20:37:01
Let's just invest in an incredible recruitment network which will deliver success year upon year, the SPL standard is pish at best, should be easy enough to dominate especially with that mob in turmoil, however it seems a million miles away with the speed of recruitment this far.
14.) 04 Aug 2024 00:14:33
Would make sense buzz as it generates extra revenue continuously.
31 Jul 2024 17:30:44
Going to get slaughtered for this comment. I truly believe when this window closes…. We will have on e of our strongest team/ squads in the last decade or so.
1.) 31 Jul 2024 17:55:22
I really hope you are right, but previous experiences in summer 'windows' worries me. Especially if we sell MOR who not only contributed with goals, assists and top performances, but took most of our corners and dead-balls.
2.) 31 Jul 2024 18:17:18
I think so too.
3.) 31 Jul 2024 18:17:29
Welcome to the forum Mr Lawell.
4.) 31 Jul 2024 18:20:27
I was thinking the same stu but it would be a nightmare if Celtic get knocked out of the League cup at the first hurdle in successive seasons.
I believe that would disrupt everything and we could be looking at planned protests again.
It’s not entitlement but the way the Board run the club.
If I was on the Board, I would be praying it didn’t happen because it would cause bedlam.
5.) 31 Jul 2024 18:29:13
It wouldn't surprise me if at the end of the summer transfer window, we hear the same hardship line of we tried to get players in, but we ran out of time. We will LOOK again in January. Amateur recruitment strikes again.
6.) 31 Jul 2024 18:55:48
We need three players signed by Friday just to stand still to replace Oh, Idah and Bernardo or we’re weaker starting the league campaign on Sunday weaker than we finished. Justify that.
We need a further further two or three to give us a challenge at left back and a replacement for current left sided centre that are better than what we have and that improve the first eleven to be anywhere ready to compete in champions league. As well as third choice striker the manager has requested.
So that’s 5 or 6 by close of the window. And that’s assuming we retain the services of Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatata.
The quality and power Brendan Rodgers requested on day one has yet to materialise and that’s scandalous.
We’ve known what we’ve needed since Ange arrived and we can’t source a left back to challenge Greg Taylor or a centre half better than Liam Scales with £100m in the bank?
The difficulties bringing players to Scotland is a broken record. It’s hard but it is what it is and shouldn’t be beyond the scouting and recruitment capability a club of Celtic’s stature should have.
And who’s looking? Brendan is there to coach players and get them ready for next Sunday not recruit players.
The positivity about this boards performance is astounding.
I saw reference to the board ‘working to their long term vision’ and nearly burst a rib.
If our player trading model was working Matt O’Rilleys replacement would already be in the building. That’s before we discuss pathways to first team from academy. Gross failures.
Not having the benefit of a crystal ball I’ll go by past experience of previous two decades as a guide to future performance and won’t hold my breath.
7.) 31 Jul 2024 19:11:48
How do you think there could be planned protests after winning 11/ 12 SPl and 5 trebles . Do u think people travelling 12 hours before and after match think things are bad enough to have planned protests, and at the same time think club has a moral duty to allow MO’R. leave to earn more money.
8.) 31 Jul 2024 19:24:34
There will be no protests. its not going to happen.
9.) 31 Jul 2024 19:51:27
The Celtic Supporters actually DID protest before Celtic beat Dundee 6-0 when Ange took over.
It was when the Stadium was only half full due to C. V.
A much bigger protest was planned I think before we beat St. Mirren 6-0 a couple of weeks later.
The protests were cancelled because our fans were impressed with the football we were watching and we didn’t want to distract Ange and his players.
Celtic had already won a Quadruple Treble only about 9 months beforehand.
10.) 31 Jul 2024 19:54:52
Wee des, you sound exactly like our board and are the reason we haven’t progressed in the last 20 years. If we tried to improve in Europe the domestic achievements would take care of themselves. If you’re happy to swim round the same goldfish bowl for ever, good luck to you. Some of us think we can do better.
11.) 31 Jul 2024 20:23:51
chasabhoy,
the supporters deserve and should demand better.

12.) 31 Jul 2024 20:29:18
JFP,
your post sums it up.
BR walked the last time due to PL going back on his word.
I'm astounded at the arrogance of our board that they feel they can disrespect a coach of BR's standing, someone who's brought so much success to Celtic Football Club.
They should be careful as I fear recent history may well repeat itself.
☘️ ☘️ ☘️.
13.) 31 Jul 2024 20:36:12
JFP as a long time lurker on the forum I always enjoyed your posts which in the main were always delivered with a baseball bat and frequently made me laugh out loud. Normally based on past behaviour I would agree with every word you have said in your post. i just have this gut instinct that this time we really are going for quality and all will be well. hail hail. ?.
14.) 31 Jul 2024 20:50:25
North 18
Every fibre of my being hopes your right and I’m wrong.
Hail Mary. ?.
15.) 31 Jul 2024 21:57:48

Wee Joe
I was actually at Carfin grotto for Mass last Sunday and visited the Mass rock Irish Memorial.
You bring the bag of candies and I’ll bring the bag of cans!
I’ll see you there!
18.) 01 Aug 2024 05:02:25
It is absolutely nonsense to say we need 3 Players in or else e are weaker than last season … Surely no Celtic supporter can believe that . . Oh wasn’t in match squad for end of season . It was evident to anyone who watched pre-season that many of Celtic players bought in last two years had vastly improved their game . Only pre-season but most Celtic supporters were delighted With what they saw.
19.) 01 Aug 2024 06:32:25
@jfp I'll see you in there. ?
I get the frustration over the lack of signings and that is only compounded by the poor performance in the last two windows.
I personally don't think the board are going to deviate from our transfer policy and I don't think we are going to change our wage structure. However, I do think we will sign players before the window closes and I hope they are first team ready and in the areas we need to strengthen.
I am trying to remain calm until the window closes and make my assessment then. If the board have not delivered this transfer window, then I suspect Brendan and the fans will have every right to be calling for some of their heads.
With regards to protests, there were some last season against the board and they caved and let the green brigade back in.
20.) 01 Aug 2024 10:59:25
we could always sign five or six players that are not so good but at least we will have done something, would that satisfy, glad to see brendan getting all the praise he deserves, remind me who brought him back, half the moaning faced crows didn't want him back infact more than a few were finshed with celtic if he came back. dd and the board brought him back because they knew it was the best thing for the club and they will back him but the player he wants are better than what we have and with all good player their club want to keep hold of them this leads to long drawn out negotiations that may come to fruition or not.
17 Jul 2024 23:21:20
ED…. What’s your thoughts on the KS signing?
{Ed007's Note - Kasper Schmeichel certainly wasn't my first choice to be our new No.1 but I'm more than happy about it, I think it could turn out to be a shrewd/inspired move by Rodgers.}
04 Sep 2024 19:45:28
Cheers guys, valid points. Love the wee lad but the above points make complete sense.
30 Aug 2024 20:55:03
King of kings.
04 Aug 2024 00:26:33
Has Ndidi found a club or is he still available? Anything happening behind the scenes with him and Celtic? Is this a possible transfer?
{Ed007's Note - He signed a new deal with Leicester.
03 Aug 2024 19:06:13
