Ed I've heard a rumour Griff could be set for a move to the MLS. Have you heard anything?

Ice Man

{Ed007's Note - No mate.}

1.) 13 Jan 2020 20:44:06
Find that quite plausible, Ice Man: he'd be the kind of player, at the stage in his career, that they often look to bring in. I would never write-off Griff, but wonder what the fø©« is going on with him.

2.) 13 Jan 2020 20:59:17
Could he be teaming up with the manager that got the best out of him?

12 Jan 2020 17:48:50
Reports saying we have had a £5.4m offer rejected for Willem II Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis. I'm assuming if this is true we turned our attention to Klimala or could we be preparing for life after Eddie or maybe Griff and Bayo could be for the off.

Ice Man

1.) 12 Jan 2020 19:42:35
Guy on twitter set up a fake account and started this rumour. Shows how simple it really is.

11 Jan 2020 11:52:21
Ed reports in Poland are saying Celtic have came in hard for Patryk Klimala and say he could be a Celtic player any day. Any truth in this?

Ice Man

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea about that but I did say yesterday that Klimala was more likely to arrive than Sporar.}

1.) 11 Jan 2020 12:26:09
I heard Lawwell went into negotiations WITHOUT club cheque book, bank card and just whistled throughout talk with agent, yes Pedro REALLY is trying hard to sign someone!
What ME sceltical whatever gives you that idea?

05 Jan 2020 09:39:20
Ed with all those the strikers being linked to the club this month, the latest being Glen Murray and Billy Sharp on loan, as well as Sporar on a permanent deal, could it be the club are looking to bring in 2 strikers this month?

Ice Man

{Ed007's Note - It could be but I wouldn't hold my breath on either Sharp or Murray rocking up at Celtic Park any time soon.}

1.) 05 Jan 2020 12:41:43
I was wondering that as well. Are we going to sporar and an experienced player as well?
You think if we do then both griffiths and bayo going on loan ed?

{Ed007's Note - Lennon said two weeks ago that LG won't be going anywhere in January. Bayo will be moved on either on a loan or permanently if we can find anyone willing to take him.}

2.) 05 Jan 2020 13:04:36
Lennon has been known to say things before then do the exact opposite ed. 😂.

{Ed007's Note - 😁

3.) 05 Jan 2020 13:51:55
Wouldn't want either Sharp or Murray. A lot of Murrays goals have been penalties for Brighton so his goal ratio in open play is honking.

4.) 05 Jan 2020 22:11:37
we are fighting for a title we need someone who could come in with no risks and hit the ground running murray is a no risk striker who would score goals in a 6 month period if supplied.

5.) 06 Jan 2020 01:32:55
Liamlennon this has Ian Wright written all over it. Too much of a veteran for me.

6.) 06 Jan 2020 11:15:39
Heard that rubbish with every has been fae the EPL we sign.

7.) 07 Jan 2020 08:13:52
Pure snobbery guys he's linked with Newcastle and villa but yous don't think he will score goals in SPL no doubt he would it's not Carlton cole we are talking about here.

27 Sep 2019 23:29:41
I've heard Lenny and the coaching staff have been massively impressed with Jonathan Afolabi since he arrived at the club. He is now training daily with the first team although he will continue to play games with the development squad. Don't be surprised to see him make some match day squads in the near future. At 19 he is the same age French Eddy was when he arrived. Could be another superstar in the making.

Ice Man

1.) 28 Sep 2019 00:11:51
That was a brilliant goal he scored the other day in the game against Morton, I think it was, for the reserves, the games on YouTube, .

Now as some of you may know I am a fan of Neil Lennon however when it comes to talking to the press about our transfer plans, I thinks he comes across as an absolute amateur. He said he expected two players to be signed and join the squad in Dubai. The squad fly home tomorrow and no players have been signed. It was the same during the summer when CL qualifier deadline was approaching, again he said he expected 1 or 2 signings before the deadline and guess what. No players arrived. He did exactly the same in his first spell in charge. I think he's better to keep his mouth shut and would not end up looking stupid.

Ice Man

1.) 11 Jan 2020 17:55:00
Everything I seen or read he said he hoped, not expected.

2.) 11 Jan 2020 18:08:29
Agree but maybe the money men told him the deals were close and are penny pinching as norm and maybe by saying that he puts pressure on them. but who really knows.

3.) 11 Jan 2020 18:08:48
He needs to keep quiet until the deals are done.

4.) 11 Jan 2020 18:12:32
It looks like the usual window for us iceman. Going to get players in at the last minute . I know we have a fair bit of time left in the window but it seems to take an age for us to sign players . Surely ground work and discussions have taken place, surely they have decided now who their number one targets are. Coming back after a period where we haven’t really played well lately, the squad needs boosting with quality, the way the fans and club felt after the Rangers defeat we should have turned around the mood by signing early. This dragging stuff out just winds up the fans more, with the shoe on the other foot, when the Rangers lost earlier in the season the next day they signed kent. It changes the mood around the place, I’m sure we will get players in but it would have been nice for them to be in early. We should have had them in to integrate with the team in Dubai •.

5.) 11 Jan 2020 18:40:05
Burke, Weah, Shved, Bayo, Toljan, Perez and Gutman came in during last season's dreadful transfer window in 2019/ . So we better have raised the bar this year instead of squandering millions.

6.) 11 Jan 2020 19:08:39
Pud Burke and Weah were good signings for me. They gave us something different and both played their part in us marching on to the title. The 2 American lads are prospects so can't judge them yet.

7.) 11 Jan 2020 19:28:29
Didn't Shved spend the rest of the Ukranian season on loan back to his old club? So he was never really signed to make an impact for last seasons run in.

8.) 11 Jan 2020 20:38:54
Quinn 1888. Sevco signing Kent was reckless on their part and may well come back to haunt them.
I always want to see us strengthening our squad but I think the main thing that will decide our season is how the manager sets the team up tactically.
I feel we have better players at our club than Sevco has but Lennon is consistently being out thought on the tactical side by Gerrard and he keeps leaving us outnumbered in midfield.
This season we have managed to compete with Lazio, and finish top of our group in the Europa league, it shouldn't be beyond the players we have to get the better of Sevco if the correct tactics are used.

In my opinion I think it's time we looked at a different formation. For me I would do away with playing a number 10. I would much rather see Ryan Christie in beside Broony and McGregor and driving forward from midfield, much in the way Petrov used to do, than sitting in the number 10 role. A lot of the time yesterday he was receiving the ball with his back to goal and their midfield was quick to close him down. This would also allow us to play a second striker.

Ice Man

1.) 30 Dec 2019 18:04:22
I would like the manager to recognise when our formation isn't working and make changes quickly or even better use the experience of just playing a team and adjust the formation to counter theirs but I don't like the mostly used 4231 I saw wee Strachan talking about the 10 role and how it's not nearly as effective as it used to be.

16 Dec 2019 18:29:17
I'd love to see wee Jerry Frimpong used more as a winger than a RB. The little fella is an absolute wizard on the wing. Elhamed RB with Jezza in front of him. That's what I'd like to see. I know people will say what about Forrest but I think Frimpong carries more of an attacking threat plus Jamesy can also play on the left. Every time Frimpong received the ball yesterday you could just sense the crowd believed something good was about to happen and the majority of the time, it did.

Ice Man

1.) 16 Dec 2019 18:57:35
Agree 100%, he was a joy to watch. Reminded me of Robert's when he was on song. Incidentally, I would take him for left wing, big upgrade on Morgan and Mo is only a loan. He is out of favour again.

2.) 17 Dec 2019 12:07:53
Roberts will end up at a rubbishty london club so he can reignite his bromance with teirney.

15 Dec 2019 22:56:35
I'll be honest I don't think Bolingoli is anywhere near good enough for our club. This is my judgement after the first five months of watching him. His defensive awareness is awful as is his distribution. I really hope Taylor forces his way back into the team. I would have Johnny Hayes at LB before Bolingoli every day of the week.

Ice Man

1.) 15 Dec 2019 23:22:36
He’s a bit too casual for my liking gets away with a lot in spl.

2.) 16 Dec 2019 01:07:47
1st time poster. got to say I 100% agree with you I haven't seen much from the boy, defensively, that fills me with confidence. Taylor would be my 1st choice. It's the other side I think gives us a headache elhamed and frimpong have been flawless.

3.) 16 Dec 2019 09:09:19
He's decent going forward but even that isn't good enough to compensate for his lack of defensive ability and poor decision making. So far for me Taylor doesn't look good enough either.

4.) 16 Dec 2019 09:06:16
How many games have we lost with him at left back he has still a lot to learn and he gives his all he will become a brilliant left back he will work on his final ball he is not too far away everybody has to progress some take longer than others.

5.) 16 Dec 2019 09:35:33
Defensively he is very suspect and vulnerable and we will be exposed to attacks down his side. I know young Frimpong has still a lot to learn defensively, but he offers a real potent attacking threat - and goals, whereas Bolingoli loses possession far too often.
Taylor should be given the chance to develop his potential.

11 Dec 2019 23:57:01
Ed if that lot were to win their group we would both be seeded for next round. Obviously we both can't play in Glasgow on 27th February. What would be the situation in this case?

Ice Man

{Ed007's Note -

21.03 - If more than one club from the same city, or within a radius of 50km (31 miles) of each other, is taking part in any of the UEFA club competitions and/or plays in the same stadium, and if the association and the clubs concerned explicitly declare when entering the clubs that their matches cannot be played on the same day or on consecutive days, the UEFA administration may alter or confirm dates and kickoff times in accordance with the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.

Which basically means they'll cross that bridge when they come to it, in the past when it's happened they usually just have different K.O. times but that might not be practical in Glasgow.}

1.) 12 Dec 2019 13:28:20
Just a follow up to this one Ed. Will the away leg not be affected in this situation i. e UEFA will not decide one of the clubs will play their home leg first?

{Ed007's Note - They could change one of them.}

2.) 12 Dec 2019 18:18:04
U would like to think the club with the highest co efficient would benefit from any decisions to be made.

Definitely something different Kev. Big physical striker. Very good in the air. Wouldn’t say no. However if another striker is to come in either Bayo or Griff or even both would have to move on. Or maybe two up top.

Agree that left back is still a worry. Bolingoli and Taylor are nowhere near good enough. For me Hayes is the best option at left back and that’s saying something. I’d like to see the lad Meling from Rosenborg.

To us supporters he’s a bit of an unknown but certainly he’s being talked up in his homeland. Zurawski has said he’s the hottest young talent in the country. I’m not saying that means anything but we just have to see what this guy can do when he steps out onto the field. A lot of fans are saying they are underwhelmed by The lad but let’s wait and see he may be an absolute gem. Time will tell. I for one am willing to give him a chance.

Ice Man

{Ed007's Note - A lot of fans were underwhelmed by Dembele and Edouard, Frimpong was "another Man City project", Jullien wasn't good enough and wasn't a Lennon signing etc etc
I sometimes wonder what some fans expect, it's not as if we're going to be in for top-end players from England or France where mediocre players go for millions (Harry Maguire for £80 million - more than VVD - and I honestly wouldn't swap Ajer for him) so we need to look at the level below that.
There's been plenty of signings I wasn't keen on for one reason or another - some I've made an ar$e of it and there's some I've been spot on about - but I always give them a chance and see what they can do once they're settled etc. and Klimala deserves the chance to show what he can do.
I'm just hoping Hammond has had input on the transfer targets and we're trusting someone apart from Lawwell on players ability/potential.
I still think we need to have a serious look and possible overhaul of the scouting system but that can take time and again hopefully Hammond can get that sorted out.}
