I dip in and out as I expect most expats do - what's the negativity about Brown?! The guys gqve his heart and soul to the club and could get a better pay in the EPL on a jiffy

Open your eyes mate, Scott Brown wouldn't hack it in the EPL, he's always out of his depth when it comes to him in Europe for us or when he plays at International level, all he can do is snarl and stare, there is no football ability. If he can't hack it at those levels then he wouldn't hack the EPL as that's where players are tested for us. In fact he's looking poor for us domestically never mind on another level.

2.) 16 Sep 2015 11:21:34
Got to agree mate! HH joe brown would get found out real quick down in England mate! He knows his level is up here and that's exactly why he's stayed! 20 odd grand a week for strolling about the SPL not bad if u can get it! Like I said he knows himself he would get shown up down there! It certainly ain't for the love of Celtic that he stays! Brown against any half decent midfielder, not even Top class EPL standard, and he's chasing shadows! As was proved against Aberdeen and Malmo! Watched him a few times against the wee boy jack at Aberdeen, the wee guy runs rings round him honestly! Go back and watch last seasons game at pittodrie when brown got sent off! The frustration was ripping out him because he couldn't get near the young boy jack! EPL! No chance mate!

Our captain has had a very poor start to the season and as the better players around him at the club have left he's looked more exposed and it's more noticeable that he's not a great playmaker which is one of the things we are lacking. His great asset was to get the best out of other players and drive us on but have injuries started to catch up with him? And when the players round about you are inferior to previous players his influence lessens. On current form and ability people are questioning him because he's our captain and probably top earner and wondering can he influence this team like previous years?

4.) 16 Sep 2015 12:28:06
Brown biggest problem is the ridiculous system we play. Before anyone says lots of successful teams use it they don't do it the way we do. I have lost count the amount of times this year we have ended up with four forwards all standing statuesque across the park and way beyond the ball while the other team attacks an empty midfield with only SB and Nir trying to play against 3, 4 and sometimes 5 opposition players. By the way to all who cite Barcelona as a model for this system open your eyes, busquests is always behind the two playmakers, we need another man in the middle beside brown and Biton but RD is more interested finding palace in the team for Johanssen. Scott brown is an excellent player, at the minute he is going through a bad patch which just happens to coincide with the managers incompetence being graphically revealed

5.) 16 Sep 2015 19:28:45
Groutdoc who are the better players around Brown who has left the club . I know of Virgil and many think that Virgil would be a massive lost to any team . The rest who have left wouldn't be exactly regarded as first team players who Brown relied on.
I can't see the lost of Adams Matthews leaving a massive hole , as he missed more games though injury than he was available for .
If players are huffing and rebelling , no matter who , they need to be exposed and shown the door . But it is probably a big IF .

6.) 16 Sep 2015 20:52:33
Old hoy, that wasn't my post that mentioned players, my view is that the system is leaving the two in the middle with far too much to do and no support from the three in front of them who make little contribution either defensively or controlling the game. However as you ask I think Matthews is a loss as was Joe Ledley

7.) 17 Sep 2015 15:53:13
Sorry Groutdoc , I blamed u in the wrong .
I don't like this two man midfield system myself and either tactically decided by Deila or by the players themselves Bitton and Brown are not getting enough assistance particularly by the wide men on our team .
I think we are more compact and play better with Izzy on the team as he plays well forward and keeps the right hand side of the opposing team tied down.
On the other hand our right back is exposed and we are wide open for counter account.

I think neighsaysers like your self, amigo forget that what makes celtic -Glasgow - also constrains it. RD is a rough diamond granted but a diamond - who pray tell would you have manage celtic? We have the same problems with attracting managers as we do players - it's wet country in a poor league and we don't have the cash to compensate for that. I think our club is ran well, very well and make no mistake PL could get a better paid job down south tomorrow , I suspect he , lie a lot of folk I know working at the club do it as much for the love 'Celtic' and all that that stands for.

Keep repeating the same thing, 20m on offer EVERY season and we all know the club could and should do more to get there. No point in moaning about lack of income then letting it slip away through apathy.
On to Tuesday, we are comfortably better than Malmo, but still no better than below average at this level. CL money on a regular basis would help to push us in the right direction, and regular participation would attract better players.

2.) 22 Aug 2015 12:57:22
So how much do you want to spend to get the 20 million? 5 , 10 , or even 15 million? And what happens if even then we don't qualify?

3.) 22 Aug 2015 13:54:18
That depends on how many years you want to wait to see if things improve naturally. I take it some people are content with the downward spiral from mediocrity. This small club mentality can become a self fullfilling prophecy.
The thing is, Celtic do actually spend money, they just don,t seem to spend it wisely as we have all witnessed with the procession of cheap buys that take up wages and rarely see first team action. This being the reason we are not progressing, would it not be better to make one decent buy per window ( I think the club would remain solvent ), and make the effort to push on. If you want to win the lottery, you really do have to buy a ticket!
We already close half the ground for some home games, something I would never have contemplated witnessing in my lifetime. That is not only the "financial crisis", that is people voting with their feet!

4.) 22 Aug 2015 14:06:43
Just spend something fab. Anything. Anything beyond money from player departures. Where's the rest of our income going?

Anybody else get annoyed about this in that rag -SPFL Premiership suffers £11million hit for season 2013-14 as Celtic's revenue dips'. Reads like it's all celtics fault, sevco not even mentioned! Beggar belief

HH_Joe

1.) 04 Jun 2015 17:06:32
Thought that myself. They'd never come up with the headline 'Celtic carry Scottish football on their back' though would they.

2.) 04 Jun 2015 17:59:11
If sevco debuted it would be "sevco to save scottish football by increasing revenue".

I couldn't care less about any other team, as long as we are healthy that all I care about

3.) 04 Jun 2015 20:44:29
Dn30, you are right , not one club care one hoot about us , so why should we care about any other club .

Deila added. "What can you do? You can grow potatoes out there."

I love RD, No no nonsense about him.

New Balance - I think I was in NZ. When this news came out. I missed this and the Apple iphone announcement so I was obviously at the end of the world. Just to say I think that is a great bit of business - 2 up and coming complimentary brands. I know we all have our views on PL but for me he's in a different class from your Paul Murrays etc. HH

1.) 09 Apr 2015 11:47:45
What Apple/iPhone announcement? Although I'd point out that they're not exactly up and coming, NB and Apple two of the world's biggest brands. Agree about PL, the guy knows how to make money there's no doubt. I wish he'd share more of it with the club's employees though.

2.) 09 Apr 2015 12:09:06
What's the deal with Apple iPhone I must have missed this.

Have we signed a deal with Apple or something.

3.) 09 Apr 2015 12:41:01
Celtic have created a successful brand under Lawwell and also found ways to break into foreign markets through signing players such as Naka, Ki, etc. Not only that our Irish support across the globe has been a major factor in our growth. As the OP said, Lawwell has been a class above Murray and Co in this regard.

Rangers have been trying for years to emulate Celtic with regards to finding new markets but have been unable to do so. The reason for this I suspect is that their story is just not as appealing as ours as people prefer inclusion over exclusion.

4.) 09 Apr 2015 23:56:53
What I meant was NB is new to football! and I meant the iwatch. You are a tough crowd lol. HH

I'd say he chops and changes as much for motivation than anything else. Imagine training all the time knowing your not getting into the team unless someone breaks a leg. Also keeps the first choices on their toes. Just my two cents

Ironically I bet Doncaster is a secure as ever if not more so now. I'd say PL probably had him in his sights, as let's face it he's incompetent , but any move against him now and they will be shouting it was only for the good of celtic and it's just PL flexing his muscles and taking over! bla de bla, while clearly the member clubs should have turfed the lot of them out a long time ago.
