They got a 6months transfer embargo and then went nuts, signing players left right and centre, absolutely no sympathy for that club, oldco went out the game for the exact same reasons.

I'd love to know how many of their fans would be willing to leave the job they work in and forgo 2 years wages to help the company they work for.

brumbhoy there's a big difference mate some of these players are multi millionaires sitting with about 50 mill in there bank account and on about 300k a week and probs being asked to go down to 150k a week to ease the financial difficulty a bit on the club. they fans you speak about will be living hand to mouth and giving up 2 years wages could end them up on the street no footballer is ending up hungry and homeless for taking 100 k a week less they will still have there big mansion and luxury cars even if they played for free they have a love of money not club the fans love the club

its disgusting what footballers are paid the way the Barcelona fans see it is there a chance there club could go under and these multi millionaires will give up some wages to help stop that it won't effect those players one bit if the take a wage drop but could effect the club in a massive way.

shouting about tifos and protest against fans worried about there club is stupid and backing up the mega rich footballer is stupid its the fans that pay them the mega millions they get.

Isn’t it a form of cheating? Barcelona promise a player massive wages to secure their services at a level that other clubs can’t or won’t match. Now Barcelona are reneging on their promise but still expect the player to be loyal and take a pay cut. This summer Barcelona spent oodles of money on players and their wages while supposedly financially constrained. Maybe they shouldn’t have bought the new players to begin with? Celtic have to live within their means why not Barcelona? Of course I totally agree footballers are paid far too much.

UI if the club is that skint why are they spending 50m on new players? Don't see the fans out protesting signing Lewandowski when their club is at risk? I hope every one of the players they are trying to force out stand their ground and put the club to the wall. No better than the old Rangers.

Doesn't matter if you have £5 or £5m in the bank, you wouldn't take a pay cut to stay. Why should they? Yeah they won't go hungry but it's not the point. He signed the contract they drew up, its not his fault they're struggling. They knew that this could happen so why should he pay the price for it?

100% they're a disgrace and like most elite clubs get away with murder.

Mally you called it the elite and that’s what UEFA have done to the European club tournaments and especially the champions league. They only want teams from the major leagues across Europe to participate in it, it’s called corruption as far as I’m concerned.

{Ed007's Note - To be fair, OK it's the so called elite clubs that are the selfish ones and are blackmailing UEFA with the breakaway league stuff. It's those "big" clubs that are holding teams like Celtic back behind the scenes from breaking that glass ceiling more than UEFA themselves.}

Ed007 I know what you’re saying but the problem I have is, the 4 teams from the major leagues playing in the tournament, I know some of them have to qualify but it’s against the dross from the early qualifying rounds ensuring they are going to be in the CL it’s just the way I feel about.

{Ed007's Note - But it's the clubs from the big leagues calling the shots, UEFA probably don't care where money goes and who gets what apart from the pressure from the big leagues that demand a bigger slice of the pie. It's the old tail wagging the dog scenario. Politics from the break away super league - which hasn't gone away - it's basically the "big" clubs telling UEFA dance like a b1tch to our tune or we're taking our music and all the money elsewhere, UEFA need to facilitate them like spoilt kids.
UEFA don't care if Celtic are due £200 billion from their prize fund if they've earned that, but teams in the Big 5 would be livid.}

my whole point was people shouting about tifos and protests against fans concerned about there club. if it were Celtic and players were refusing a few you wouldn't be happy about it. i find comparing a fan who lives hand to mouth giving up wages to a multi millionaire footballer cutting a bit of his multi million pound contract very laughable its these hand to mouth fans who pay these people not the owners.

{Ed001's Note - Braithwaite is a billionaire through his business interests, so he doesn't even need the money at all. He is the richest person at the club so it is difficult to have sympathy when he has been offered plenty of moves but would rather sit on his arse watching football and taking a huge pay cheque for nothing. I can't stand Barca but in his case there is no reason a compromise can't be made other than he is greedy and won't accept a lesser salary to play regularly.}

Ed, do you think the Super League was ever really realistic? At the time it seemed like the clubs sending a message to UEFA. Since then they seem to be quite happy their demands are being met, although I was very pleased to see UEFA boot out the notion of two "historical" clubs getting a bye into the competition.

{Ed002's Note - It was a option that some "elite" clubs have been discussing for years and will continue to do so. Liverpool and Manchester United coming up with Project PBigfoot would never happen.}

a billionaire that makes it even worse to think some fans on here were wanting tifos and protests at the poor treatment of skint Braithwaite being asked to take a pay cut.
