Ed, I was reading that our latest 'signing' Mark Lawwell, Peter's son, actually recommended Ange to Dominic McKay, when we were hell bent on pursuing Eddie Howe last summer.

Two questions, are you aware if this story is accurate and secondly, given Mark Lawwell worked with Ange for 4 years, how valuable an addition could he be to Celtic?

☘️ ? ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - Dom McKay claimed that he was instrumental in Ange's appointment as he knew him from his own time in Japan, then a few months later Peter Lawwell was getting the credit for appointing Ange so it wouldn't surprise me if Mark Lawwell had a hand in it.
As for ML and Ange working together previously that's only a bonus imo and appointing ML is a massive coup on our part, he has been at the forefront of scouting & recruitment for the entire City Football Group and has a wealth of knowledge on players across the globe and probably a contact book that will read like a who's who of the footballing world.
I'm delighted with the appointment because we have managed to get one of the best in the business plus it shows finally that the Club are looking at the longer term - if we can also get a DOF in this summer I'll be a happy chappy.}

Fair comment Mark.
Has any news ever surfaced about why McKay left so suddenly? HH.

{Ed007's Note - No mate, it's an odd one altogether isn't it? I know there will be watertight NDA's in place but you'd think there would be at least some murmurings of what went on. I still find the whole situation bizarre, Besty when you consider the processes involved in appointing McKay, he shadowed Pedro for what 6 months and then 2/3 months into it he's off? Very weird imo.}

Indeed bro, not that it really matters now anyway but at the time it was just another question about how the club was being run.
It's remarkable what a decent season does to distinguish earlier discontent. HH.

{Ed007's Note - For some maybe lol I'm still a moaning faced get about the DOF etc ? but hopefully Baby Lawwell's appointment is a sign of changes at a higher level than the first team requirements.}

BL may be a good signing, I'm sure he wouldn't have signed on unless he was given some reassurance that there would be money to spend.
His job would be frustrating if he was spotting players without the cash available to get them in. HH.

{Ed007's Note - Money to spend on recruitment and money to spend on the scouting department etc ?

Nice one Ed, I hadn't realised we had brought Mark Lawwell in until I saw the Ice Man post.

Agree with your points and can't believe that our board are actually starting to put the pieces in place that the fans have been wanting for years.

A D. O. F. and a great summer window and the Ange revolution rolls on.

☘️ ? ☘️.

The CFG's scouting system will reach places ours could only dream of. With a CL bounty of circa £40m it could be tempting to splash the cash but ML could well have some excellent names we could pick up for a reasonable price. I think we need to give him the benefit of the doubt this summer and really support the club's recruitment because under Ange it's been top notch. Big money signings don't always guarantee success.
