It's exactly 50 years ago since Celtic last played on Christmas Day in 1971.
In Paradise 34,000 fans watched Celtic beat Hearts 3-2.
The English League stopped playing on Christmas Day in the 1950s but the Scottish League continued to play the odd Christmas Day League match into the mid 1970s.
Celtic played 15 competitive Christmas Days matches and we won an impressive 13 games, with 1 game drawn and our only defeat was in 1957 to Queen Of The South 2-1.
Celtic scored nearly 4 goals per match, with an incredible 58 goals scored in those 15 games.
Celtic legend Jimmy McGrory made his Kilmarnock managerial debut at Celtic Park on Christmas Day in 1937.
It was a disaster for McGrory as Celtic won 8-0.
Celtic were leading 6-0 at half time and I think Celtic took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half, to save an even more humiliation experience for McGrory.
Jimmy McGrory however got the last laugh because he returned to Celtic Park only 3 months later and his Kilmarnock team knocked a stunned Celtic side out of the Scottish Cup 2-1.

When Celtic lost to QOTS on Christmas Day in 1957,we lost 4 home games in a row over the Christmas and New Year period.
Last season when Celtic played behind closed doors, we lost 4 home games in a row for the first time since that 1957 period.
