See Brentford had a £5m bid accepted for Toney. Would have been a good signing and not that expensive either. Selling Bayo and Rogic would probably have funded that.

bravetart, I know what you're saying and I'm as passionate about Celtic as you or anyone is but how many players have we spent £5m on? We've spent it, but not very often.

We bought Klimala in January as a lad ready to hit the road but it seems he was nowhere near the pace. We bought Soro as a lad ready to hit the road but it seems he was nowhere near the pace etc. etc. etc
We need to sign 1 or 2 decent lads instead of 5 or 6 'could bes'. This season is too important for experiments. HH.

If Edouard is for the off next season then he would've been an able replacement. Might have been a risk as most transfers are but it be interesting to see if he can make the step up in the Championship. Agree I'd rather we got in 1 or 2 real quality that'll be first team ready and not keep chancing millions on endless projects that never make it.
