The S*n reporting Gordon Strachan returning to the club tomorrow in a senior advisory role.

Most backward move a so called modern football club could make.

I disagree auf, I rate WGS and his experience could be invaluable. If what I’m reading is right his role is over youth development which is something we can definitely improve on. Although I’m not 100% sure if that role is accurate.

The fans will be split on this decision.
WGS played longer than his professional team mates because he was ahead of his time and looked after himself.
Celtic had a very fit squad when Strachan was our manager.
I can think back to when we deserved to beat Rangers AET in the League Cup Final and we also played Spartak Moscow off the park in Extra time before winning on penalties.
I think WGS will do a professional job and he will bring high standards to the club.

Strachan said Scottish football would struggle becusr of size of players we produce. That's not going to change. His football at Celtic was dreadful. Save me results argument he's developing the future not getting the best out of what he had. Plus it will secure his laptop boy in a job even longer. Only Celtic could take away a good feel factor so quick. Prehistoric appointment.

{Ed007's Note - Apparently Ange is more than happy with the standards of GS Jnr's work. Him and JK took plenty of pelters when NL was here but they rarely get a mention when things are going well, I've no idea why that is.}

How's it backward if you know football you know football, and Strachan will do a good job imo.

He'll oversea the b team as well as the academy I believe.

Great move by Dom to bring WGS in to overhaul the youth setup, hopefully we will see a lot more of the young boys coming through.

Auf sir Alex was winning titles and he was nearly 70,wgs knows the game inside out and ange must have sanctioned it.

Club just confirmed its only a 3 month role.

I don't get some of our fans sometimes, WGS has an abundance of experience to offer the club. Why wouldn't the new CEO try and tap into that with, the fans are crying out for the club to be restructured and when we start making moves for that to happen they moan 🤔.

Think it’s a great move wgs has a vast knowledge of all things football.

3 month consultancy project for WGS.

13.) 10 Aug 2021

From what is being reported he will be overseeing the youth set up, good move in my opinion.

Name one player he made better. He was the begging of our downsizing and most the football was absolutely rotten. And he started that zonal marking that got us punished on most European outings.

15.) 10 Aug 2021
10 Aug 2021 22:42:34
We are doomed, if WGS gets anywhere a role with any influence, the guy is a zealot for modern tactics and formations, just because they are modern tactics and formations, not because they are good tactics or formations,

{Ed007's Note - I don't think you've read what Strachan will be doing for THREE months.}

16.) 10 Aug 2021
10 Aug 2021 23:05:36
Chasaboy - You do know that WGS isn't actually going to be training the players. He was also the beginning of our downsizing because that's what DD, Lawwell and the Board wanted him to do due to the money spent and contracts given by MON.

Do you think he came in and just decided to start downsizing on his own?
Oh and during his "Downsizing" he managed to get us to the CL last 16 twice and won 3 titles in a row.

Auf how possibly is this taking away the feel good factor . Too many celtic “fans” just look for the negative . Give it a rest. Not everything is glass half empty.

Sounds like a minor role looking at youth team. I did think that Ange may need an old head with a bit of experience of the European game to give him context but from few games I’ve seen, he might just need a settled back line. He seems to have way of doing things his own way thought and time will tell. WGS looking at our youth doesn’t seem like a prob to me.

19.) 11 Aug 2021
11 Aug 2021 05:15:32
Also, did WGS not get us into last 16 of CL for the first time with the downsizing.?

20.) 11 Aug 2021
11 Aug 2021 06:03:34
He’s in, his next role after consulting job will be DoF and the balance is reset.

21.) 11 Aug 2021
11 Aug 2021 06:50:38
There’s got to be 1000s better candidates for any role at Celtic. So much for modernisation, this is just putting a new jacket on a histobook.

22.) 11 Aug 2021
11 Aug 2021 07:34:13
It's a good move for the club. Less for Ange to worry about in his first few months at the club while he focuses on us getting a good start in the league.

@chas WGS had celtic the fittest they had ever been how many late goals did we score then. Also he had McGeady pulling sleds during running to get him fitter.
