It was imperative we got quality defenders in the door ASAP as we knew months ago that Boyata, Benkovic, Lustig and KT were offski.
However, we have really made a boz of it as usual in the often dreaded transfer window and are kinda making it up as we go along.
One thing I will say is - apart from the Cluj game - we have got away with it, so far and great credit goes to the attacking players in particular. Although we really do need to fill the obvious gaps in the squad as soon as possible, before deadline day.

It's been the same the last few years, starting the season qualifiers with players having to play out off position because of injuries and no players to cover. Complete joke to be taking the chance every year then claim were a champions league team . explain why we are then Peter!

Kev; 'In the squad' is splitting hairs a bit. The manager didn't think two of them were fit or good enough to play and we will never know if he was right - although we knew he was wrong to play Cal-mac.
My point was really about getting the right players in the door in plenty of time for these early qualifiers as Jullien was clearly not fit and we are still currently recruiting full-backs after the event.

Aye so it was the manager that made a mess of it and he proved it the next week by playing those players and beating a better team.
Did a week make a difference in jullians fitness? Not likely.

Lennon had been supplied the tools to get us through and chose not to use them. I have no doubt what so ever that if he had played both jullian and boli we'd have beaten cluj.
