Guys international break so a little fun to keep us goin.
Celtic team in 3-5 years time without any unknown signings obv.
Bain
Ralston Hendry Ajer KT
Koassi Ntcham
Mazis
Morgan Edouard K Dembelle.

Granted a little license given with Edouard but u could easily put in Roberts too.
Poss signings to add.
Mcginn
And that's hardly any money spent so future looking good and still we have likes of M. Johnston, Aitchison, Hazard etc.
Batter in lol.

rayman99

1.) 26 Mar 2018 20:20:09
Fail to see why McGinn is sought after by fans on this forum.

We’ve got too many players in our squad that can play the odd decent game, until such times as he is consistently bossing games against the better SPL teams then he should stick with Lenny at Hibs.

2.) 26 Mar 2018 21:17:31
Rayman youve missed out young Karamoka dembele.

3.) 26 Mar 2018 21:27:07
The next set of signings really are key. We need to start looking at proper replacements in attacking positions. Roberts musonda sinky rogic Armstrong all gone by next year. What do you guys think of McKenna at Aberdeen? Would complete our scottish back 4.

4.) 26 Mar 2018 21:59:52
Big Daz the clue is in k dembelle 🤣🤣🤣.

5.) 27 Mar 2018 10:42:43
Got to agree with you kev t. Can't see what all the fuss about Mcginn is.

6.) 28 Mar 2018 19:38:08
I see similarities with McGinn and James McCarthy when he was at Accies. We missed a trick with not signing McCarthy as he flourished on the bigger stage. Would be ideal getting McGinn in next season getting mentored by Broony for a couple of seasons.

7.) 29 Mar 2018 14:17:42
Stevie av been banging on about mcginn for ages ed says there's interest let's hope we get him. broony mcginn and Armstrong if he stays and ntcham what a midfield young mcginn has fairly filled out he's got the aggression we need.

Here is my take on this window, maybe wishful thinking, but you never know.
Sell:
M. Dembelle 20 million,
Jozo 6 million,
Henderson 0,
Armstrong 4 million,
Plus VVd 7 million,
= £37 million.

Buy:
Caulker 0
McGinn 3 million + Hendo,
Roberts 6 million,
Morgan 0.3 million,
Hendry 0.5 million,
Musonda loan 1.5 million.

4 potential starters.

Massive profit there and scope for Brendan to make a big signing that I firmly believe he has an eye on.

rayman99

1.) 04 Jan 2018 15:46:28
There is no way City would let Roberts go for that, they could easily get 4 or 5 times that from another English side.

2.) 04 Jan 2018 16:02:21
@CelticBhoy123 who's going to pay £25-30M for Roberts? You're having a laugh mate.

3.) 04 Jan 2018 17:31:42
Kev fully agree with that also who is going to pay that for Dembele.

4.) 04 Jan 2018 23:44:53
Why the rush to sell one of our best ever strikers . Only a very negative person would think of selling M D just now with injuries and maybe a wee struggle to regain the form of last season . Unless he is demanding a move just now, I would prefer to keep him until at least the summer and hopefully return of his form and maybe a place in the French squad and we could be looking at something nearer double your £20 m .
We need to maximise our sales value of our star players not rush them to the market at the first dip in form . Few if any strikers are in top form all year every year .

5.) 04 Jan 2018 23:33:17
Is Henderson's contract up?

6.) 05 Jan 2018 00:28:16
I think £40m for Dembele is pure fantasy stuff. He'd have to bang in 30 odd goals and win the EL or something to get that kind of offer which still wouldn't happen as he done it in the "pub league" and the "Mickey mouse cup" Got to look at what Richmond Boakye value is as he's had a better season than Dembele so far in a better league. Not sure what his valuation is but it won't be anywhere near £40m.

7.) 07 Jan 2018 17:33:05
I you are not sure what the value of a player is how do u know it isn't near £40m.

05 Aug 2016 19:28:43
Assuming Sinclair deal done then I think a creative midfielder and we are set with also a few out.
There is an argument for a GK but CG is decent enough and Fasan is considered good enough by many to step in if needed, so looking like a good window for us.
With a strike force of Sinclair LG MD and PR that will put smiles on our faces I think.
Also it means that the spine of the team has been strengthened which is what any good manager addresses.

rayman99

1.) 05 Aug 2016 20:21:32
To me a GK is needed badly, also would like a tough tackling no nonsense midfielder brought in.

2.) 05 Aug 2016 21:11:57
Would you trust fasan or even Gordon in a cl game against quality opposition? I think over the next 2 season we need 2 new GK, but buy one now and put Gordon on the bench.

3.) 05 Aug 2016 21:27:17
Got to agree with chris30. Need a CM who isn't afriad to let himself be known. And btw, if not already know. Flamini was released by the Gunners on a free. 32y and still agressive as ever last i saw him.

4.) 05 Aug 2016 21:29:02
I think we get through this tie mate but I've no seen enough a Fasan and tbh I was never Craig Gordon biggest fan he's made a couple really good saves at times but he's prone to a howler at times its just in he's game still a tough one for me to take when you lose an England international goalkeeper ( England's number 1 in my opinion without being biased lol) and replace him way a guy that been out for some long, would like the lad Worm spurs number 2 no sure if it was Rodgers that signed him for Swansea.

5.) 05 Aug 2016 22:21:56
Rodgers said he wanted another CF i don't know whether that's still the case or not! But I'd love a GK and CM who can take a game by the scruff of the neck!

6.) 05 Aug 2016 23:19:06
Couldn't agree more with chris30 and shugmckie, a hard tackling ball winning midfielder. Flamini wouldn't be the worst shout. There after I think we need a commanding goalie, Gordon is a half decent shot stopper, however is not commanding.

7.) 06 Aug 2016 03:00:34
Bring back the Holy Goalie ;)

8.) 06 Aug 2016 07:12:07
I rather we got an up and coming someone, don't know anything about Sinclair, apart from what I've read, but his career seems to be going in opposite direction.

9.) 06 Aug 2016 08:22:53
the holy goalie was hot and cold also. Remember Begovic goal blunder he was on the other end. Countless times he fluffed it at Celtic also. What about Logan Bailly he was a decent enough keeper I though over Fasan.

10.) 06 Aug 2016 10:16:36
A GK is THE priority now.

How did we ever win all those titles cups and CL with all the refs against us lol.

rayman99

1.) 17 Sep 2018 21:34:35
By being much better than we would've needed to be under normal circumstances.

2.) 18 Sep 2018 00:20:42
Ray an. I suspect most Celtic fans would ask how many more titles and cups would Celtic have won given impartial referees.

3.) 17 Sep 2018 23:58:36
Refereeing mistakes are part and parcel of the game, it's all part of the show business, it gives you something to cling to if your team hasn't played well, and you can blame the referee in an attempt to camouflage your team's shortcomings, all supporters of all teams do it, Celtic and The rangers supporters seem to be the most paranoid, but it is easy for a referee to make a mistake, when you think about how things happen in a split second, and the ref has to make a decision there and then, some people go over the top in their critiscimn of referees, yes, I am talking about you, Old man Chris, but I would keep my critiscimn for that three man panel of fools, who have more than a split second and still make the most rediculous decisions.

4.) 18 Sep 2018 17:32:53
Everyone is aware of that Aindoh, even those it seems that are relying on SMSM radio broadcasting, which isn't always quick to point out pro Sevco mistakes or anti Celtic .
I and imagine most that really find fault look at the game as a whole, if I notice one team getting continuous soft fouls and avoiding cards compared to their opponents treated the opposite, I think of bias and corruption .
Now our compliance set up is cleverly pre- designed to come up with the required outcome . That is just the way it is.

08 Sep 2018 13:48:22
Just a thought guys during international wk, I know its boring.
But what if we got a major sponsor ploughimg 10s of million in a year like Red Bull for eg.
Cud we be called Microsoft Celtic or other exotic name lol.
Wud we accept it?
It may help challenge the big boys and any funny ones? lol.

rayman99

1.) 08 Sep 2018 14:24:32
10 million a year wouldn’t get us anywhere near challenging the big boys rayman but I understand where your coming from about making more money! Wouldn’t fancy changing our name for money if I’m being honest but mate. maybe the training centre or something but not our name! Just aslong as it’s not the Hummel training centre 😱😱🙈🙈 😂😂😂.

2.) 08 Sep 2018 15:51:02
10 million a year wouldn't even get you a meeting with lawell.

3.) 08 Sep 2018 17:22:02
Na I love Celtic to much to whore it out to someone who doesn't understand our values.

4.) 08 Sep 2018 17:53:19
Our name will never change as far as we are concerned, money men can do what they like but our name of our club and stadium will last for ever.

5.) 08 Sep 2018 19:07:14
Most of us don't call our stadium by its given name anyway. So I wouldn't care about selling the rights to name it to be honest.

6.) 08 Sep 2018 19:11:52
You could get 10s of millions as u said. Pedro still wudny spend it 😊.

7.) 08 Sep 2018 19:21:26
I know there is a really well-structured business model behind Celtic and I accept that this could be a possibility down the road if the amount was significant enough to make a huge financial difference?
That's not to say I would ever be happy with it as I remember how I felt when we were first forced to move the numbers from or shorts, as this was a special identity feature of the time and then later on, to let them 'vandalize and deface' the Hoops with sponsors insignia.

8.) 08 Sep 2018 20:44:26
Shugmckie Mr Lawwell will spend the money the board tells him to spend.

9.) 08 Sep 2018 20:50:22
Bottom line is we always have to evolve to move forward with the times and if that includes profiting from the naming rights to stadium then so be it👍.

10.) 08 Sep 2018 22:10:12
A decent sponsor like red bull wouldn't touch the spl unfortunately. I'd like to know what they plough into the teams they have taken over?

11.) 09 Sep 2018 00:24:13
I just wish the SFA would set up their own TV channel and cut sky and bt out the equation as much as possible (reason i say as much as possible is im not sure how euro games would work) .

There would be more revenue for all the clubs enhancing quality of league and perhaps strenghtening up our clubs ability to attract players that will make at least last 16 in CL a regular occurrence.

Just a thought.

12.) 09 Sep 2018 00:24:33
I wonder why our billionaire biggest share holder doesn't just throw a few extra million or 30 our way I mean it's not as if he can't afford it now is it?

13.) 09 Sep 2018 11:23:08
Yeah sure just chuck 30 million!

14.) 09 Sep 2018 13:01:24
Aye why wouldn't our biggest shareholder put millions into our club and then become owner, he wouldn't have to listen to pesky wee shareholders who have invested miserable few millions advising him what to do.

15.) 09 Sep 2018 14:04:04
It wouldn't bother me if the stadium naming rights were sold off, but not our actual name. I think the best way for the club to generate extra revenue is to take control of their own broadcast rights, in the same way Real and Barcelona did a while back. I'm sure the club would do a lot better out of that than we do from the poxy TV deal we have at the moment. Celtic need to look after number one.

16.) 09 Sep 2018 14:56:34
Charles Green sold Rangers naming rights for a £1 to sports direct, Shortly afterwards BT spend £20 million in a four year deal to rename Murrayfield. Thereafter, Chuckles Green spent £250,000 in legal fees trying to get back the naming rights he had sold for a £1 naturally he failed against SDI (Y)

17.) 09 Sep 2018 16:24:28
Kwaj 30 million is not a great deal really when you have 2000 million is it?

18.) 10 Sep 2018 12:18:42
philtim88, i like that idea, surely would work out better financially than what is in place right now.

02 Sep 2018 18:25:51
How did we win today?
Esp against all the odds of Stevie Gs revolution, their 15 signings, spendind a fortune, all and sundry on sevco pages predicting an easy win from them and ofcourse our Timplosion lol.
Not only do they never learn they think they lost due to a minimal foul, ofcourse no mention of Mcgregor should have went and an automatic penalty.

It seems delusion is a permanent disease.

Well done ed bet your glad this window is shut, condolences over the last week.
Guys we have many many OPINIONS over this window, the board our manager etc etc, but here are some facts to consider.
When RD finished and if we were told that BR would come in and that we would win a double treble, invinceable, we would sign a class striker for 385k sell 2 years later for 20m and get roughly 70m in next 3 years from Europe getting to CL 2/ 3 we would a snapped off every hand available.
Take a step back and look at the big picture here guys, the only reason the moans and groans are here is cos some other team has signed 15 players, and cos we never signed the player that YOU want.

Remember we are Celtic supporters faithfull thro and thro.

rayman99

{Ed007's Note - Cheers, Rayman 👍

1.) 01 Sep 2018 19:06:44
Top post Rayman 👏
Couldn't have put it better myself.

2.) 01 Sep 2018 20:44:15
Signing 15 players is a recipe for disaster . Everton signed 12 or more last season and sacked their manager in Oct/ Nov
West Ham did similar and have yielded no points out 12 .
In 2016 Rangers2012 signed 10 + players and sacked their manager
In 2017 Rangers2012 signed 10 + players and sacked their manager
In 2018 Rangers2012signed 15 players and haven't got a proper manager.

12 Aug 2018 00:36:54
Guys my assessment so far keeping recruitment for later.
As an attacking force we seem to struggle to break teams down a lot esp when they back off (albeit when MD not fit) , this was evident last season too.

Our strike force is never consistent, call me a fool but I always thought strikers were confidence players.

Set pieces: we are woeful at these which is really strange cos not so long ago we were really good, maybe it was due to LG being on the pitch, Boyata too maybe.

Question is what are we doing in training as anybody knows how important set pieces are in todays game.
Midfield for me is clearly good enough for SPFL but i've said for a while now its the MAIN problem in Europe not the defense.
Why? Cos anytime we are up against a superior team they give the ball away and it comes straight back at us time and time again. And if u allow Neymar Messi etc to that freedom u are in trouble. If we keep the ball better the other team has less of the ball and likely to score less.

Brown for me will dominate SPFL again but I see signs he is waining already and maybe McGinn would have helped.
Defense, while they are always criticised its more about the way we play than how good/ bad the players are.
Take Sweden as an eg, obv ML is in that team and they defend well against superior teams cos they don't come out and try to play open football but stay compact and play to their strengths, much like the Hearts game today.

Tactically and this is my main gripe with BR, WHY doesn't he change it up on occasion like today for eg and play to hit on the break.

Not only would it be great practise for Europe but it would confuse the SPFL teams away from home as we certainly have the players and pace to burn to utilise it.

It would also help the defense for Europe as they would be under more pressure and have to stay compact.

Why not invite them on and play like France did for eg a 433 with Forrest MD and OE sitting 40 yards out and sneak the ball and go at SPFL teams we could easily be 3-0 up by half time at a difficult away ground.
Right now every team knows how we play, albeit we will win most cos of superior players we must have alternative options and today was an ideal game.
Also the benefit of these tactics are you cover less ground, saves legs 3 days before a big game.
Also if we defended as a team we would find out how good our defenders really are.
Its no coincidence the best defenders in the world all play for teams that are compact.
Chiellini Godin etc.

I have said many many times in here when people have a go at the defence that's not our main issue.
Our main issue is our attacking play, we do not vary it enough and now we have no physical presence either.
We have forrest on 1 side while playing well crossing is not a strong point.
We have lost our partnership of KT/ Sinclair on other side.
Eddy is clearly not a penalty box striker but like Samaras likes grass to run into.

When teams pack it like St. Mirren do we struggle to find a way at times.

BR said on International weeks he likes to reflect and think, well I not on his level obv but our set pieces are poor why not try some new things.

Why not try another way of breaking teams down, if it means long ball so be it (not all the time obv) .

Why do we need 16 passes to cross the half way line?

When a team attacks us let's turn it over quickly and counter attack, also why not LET teams attack us sometimes as we can be lethal on the break and team in the SPFL can't cope with us when we have space to run into (see sevco game) .

When teams have set piece against us (yes ok defend properly) but why not set up to have players in counter attack positions.

Look at Liverpool they are always ready to pounce, why can't we?

We would rather make 20 passes before we do and by then opposition team is all behind the ball its not rocket science that's its more difficult to score cos of this.

Well put ed, I have been saying for months on here problem wasn't the defense.
Ive also said Eddi is a Samaras type in that he needs grass to run into, games like last night just don't suit his game.
Get him back playing in the left with LG up top.
There are many ways to score goals, I will highlight the obv ones.
Set Pieces- we are woeful at this unless in striking distance and LG must b on the pitch.
Corners- woeful.
Going down left wing- our biggest threat (KT) .
Going down right wing - rarely score. No overlapping RB
Long Ball- non existent really
Counter attack - not bad at this but don't utilise often enough.
General play/ good moves- too ponderous as we all know and now making it hard to break teams down.
Third man running- IE Armstrong.
Now I know I not covered all areas of scoring BUT if we are to score more often then these are the areas we need to improve on.

Out of the eight we are only good at one of them, and not bad at 1 other, now its not rocket science to figure out where we are going wrong.
The more options u have at scoring the more u will score.
