Lennon apparently being backed by board, can see this being our worst season in a long time. We can forget about any slim chance we have of 10iar now.

philtim88

1.) 24 Nov 2020 12:28:37
The club just tweeted happy birthday to Tom Boyd and roy aitken, got battered about lennon .

2.) 24 Nov 2020 12:55:26
Normally when a board says they back the manager, he is usually punted very soon after.

3.) 24 Nov 2020 16:43:10
Don't know what's more worrying? The news that he is staying, or the Board - seeing what has been happening for months - are backing him.
Makes you ponder all these secret agreement conspiracy theories?

4.) 24 Nov 2020 17:25:02
We've got an easy run of fixtures up until the next Sevconian game which we should expect to win all of them, whether we do or not due to our poor form is another story. Hopefully the team can get on a run and build up some confidence to win that game. Will put the pressure right back on them.

5.) 24 Nov 2020 18:16:53
The board can’t really sack him with no transfer window opened for the next 5 weeks. With easier games they will hope he rides this out, wins another treble and then we can see where we are after next Old Firm.
If we win all our league games and get even a point in that game then we will be at worst 5 points behind and that’s with only a point, a win and it’s Max 2 if they draw even 1 game we are level.
I say get behind him and the bhoys and go into next Old Firm on a high and 10 in a row is still there for us.

6.) 24 Nov 2020 19:07:52
The board have had months to replace him during the end of the short season Then was a clear sign that he wasn't the man for the job but they didn't The board could have changed manager during the international break when a new manager could have assessed the players that were not away on international duty But they didn't I would love to know what the board see that we don't They are all great business men but what is going on the signs have been there since last Christmas when Sevco pumped us so strange and so frustrating.

7.) 24 Nov 2020 19:53:43
Am I the only one that thinks Hibs Marciano is a cracking keeper?

8.) 24 Nov 2020 20:14:03
Marciano done more in that game than Barkas has done all season. Still hoping he turns out a good buy but being a Greek international I expected him to come here and impress from the off with all the good feedback about him.

9.) 24 Nov 2020 20:18:50
Yes carmylebhoy.

19 Aug 2020 14:41:01
Apparently Rogic is away to Qatar £4m.

philtim88

1.) 19 Aug 2020 15:03:30
Would probably be why we are back in for Turnbull.

2.) 19 Aug 2020 15:04:45
Hopefully.

3.) 19 Aug 2020 15:11:05
Use money for Turnbull and Duffy loan!

4.) 19 Aug 2020 15:21:54
Lennie seems to be learning out go players who are not playing regularly and in come comptition for the first teamers.

5.) 19 Aug 2020 15:26:48
Neilybhoy that is perfect idea my friend.

Enrico will be sad to see Tom go but his fitness and his matches played just isn’t there.

Been a great servant and wish him all the best he has played his part in helping the club towards 10.

But now is time to move on and getting young turnbull and Duffy over the line would be money well spent 🍀

My friends it is midweek time for some grape juice 🍷.

6.) 19 Aug 2020 15:28:31
My friends would also keep Ntcham and let Rogic go Enrico would be unhappy to see Ntcham go.

7.) 19 Aug 2020 16:06:00
He still only 27,what a pity his injuries have always held him back. Great Feet and he loved skelping. I suppose the money out there will secure his family’s future.
Good Luck to him.

8.) 19 Aug 2020 16:15:36
I am going to take pelters for this i know, and I am so glad nobody who knows me in real life can see this. but is Enrico the REAL Enrico? 🙉.

9.) 19 Aug 2020 16:18:45
He missed far too much football and the travelling back and forward with Australia Internationals didn't help. Some great goals along the way; but far too few matches for his time at Celtic. Good luck TR.

10.) 19 Aug 2020 16:44:31
I don't think he was ever back to form since he broke hand playing for Australia. Stuck out like a sore thumb playing after that.

11.) 19 Aug 2020 17:47:12
The goal to win the Invincible treble will always make him a club legend. Good luck to him if it happens.

12.) 19 Aug 2020 17:52:14
But is the story true.

13.) 19 Aug 2020 17:59:55
Would be happy for that amount for him. Luxury player but did have some memorable moments. Turnbull a bit of a gamble though given that injury. How about a loan with a clause to buy? We take away the risk and Motherwell get cash either way?

14.) 19 Aug 2020 18:37:39
Would be absolutely gutted to see him go he's a celtic legend and immortalised by the fans regardless if he's hardly played for the best part of 18 months.

He's still only 27 and if he manages to stay fit he's one hell of a player and probably the best technically gifted player we have, I think the travelling back and forth knocked it out him in the end but he will always be held in high regard and welcomed back with open arms if he does leave.

15.) 19 Aug 2020 19:01:13
Course he is Markie. Why wouldn't he be.

16.) 19 Aug 2020 19:15:47
Rogic is a great player but is always injured so we can't count on him for the whole season. We need players who are rarely injured and if the money being quoted is correct then I think its a good deal.

17.) 19 Aug 2020 20:03:44
Rogic is a good player but 25 goals in 125 games for us as a no:10 over 7 seasons is no way where near being classed as a legend.
Yes he scored some important goals in games but he didn't do it anywhere near enough for me.
The term "legend" gets thrown about far to easily these days.

18.) 19 Aug 2020 20:28:58
For the money payed Whell worth it 750 grand wee payed last minute belters goals in big qualifiers cup final winners crackers v the rangers thanks for the memories Tom cracking servant to the club 🍀.

19.) 19 Aug 2020 20:43:32
he is a good player but far from a legend. very seldom lasted more than an hour before he was blowing out his arse, that and been injury prone means he is no more than a bit part player and celtic are better of with whatever money they get.

20.) 19 Aug 2020 21:09:39
Correct jonbhoy look at commons for example over a hundred goals from a simialiar position need a player to be fit as possible .

21.) 19 Aug 2020 21:44:04
If he manages to stay fit?
Tom rogic has NEVER been fit while at celtic. Even when not injured he isn't fit enough to regularly play 90 minutes.

22.) 19 Aug 2020 23:02:28
Phlipphlop Markie my friend of course it is Enrico who else would it be?

God bless 🍀🍷.

23.) 19 Aug 2020 23:36:46
If Rogic could stay fit would be worth rubbish loads brillant player, good luck to him.

24.) 20 Aug 2020 08:47:23
Rogic a legend hahaha absolute belter. He had a good 6 months when brendan first took over apart from that he has been average barring a handful of decent games.

25.) 20 Aug 2020 08:53:20
Dont know wat u lose till its gone offers much more than ntcham who plays well once or twice a season yet people think he's a class above.

26.) 20 Aug 2020 08:58:07
Legend status McNeil McStay Johnstone brown I don’t think Rogic quite fits that category good servant though not a legend.

27.) 20 Aug 2020 10:13:27
Wouldnt say he's a legend but he's been involved in legendary moments.

28.) 20 Aug 2020 11:42:15
Big tam has been involved in some magical moments for us, and fit and on his game he’s a joy to watch! Problem is I can’t actually remember the last time he was fit and on his game! Like kev said, even when ‘fit’ he barely ever completed a 90 min! We play 50-60 games a season and the fact he’s managed just 100 odd games in 7 years says it all. if we get offered decent money we take and he’ll go with everyone’s best wishes 👍🏼🍀.

29.) 20 Aug 2020 11:54:06
Seen something online that says rogic going to Brighton in exchange for Duffy it makes sense if true.

30.) 20 Aug 2020 20:00:27
I was never that much bothered with the hype surrounding Rogic, apart from one or two spectacular, can't really see what he brought to the team, a much, much inferior player when compared to Ntcham.

23 Jun 2019 03:32:01
Media in London saying Tierney wants move apparently.

philtim88

1.) 23 Jun 2019 07:57:54
Huw would they know if he goes it should be for top dollar.

2.) 23 Jun 2019 10:15:35
I was in London last night guys and was speaking with an Arsenal board member. Didn’t give me any details at all but just said that if Tierney wasn’t an Arsenal player by the end of this week he would be very surprised. Only passing on what he said.

3.) 23 Jun 2019 10:18:55
If it’s true we should hold out for at least 25-30 million. when you got defenders like walker and stones going for 45 plus.

4.) 23 Jun 2019 11:35:19
30m, a sell on % and a couple of their young players as a sweetener. Bielik, Reiss Nelson, Smith Rowe and Saka look like very good young players. No way should we be looking for any less than this with the money being quoted in the EPl.

5.) 23 Jun 2019 12:13:54
He will be away for £20m plus sell on clause be end of week.

6.) 23 Jun 2019 13:32:43
20 million my arse. If the club sell him for that someone should get the door for it. McKenna is quoted at 10 million for God sake and Maguire 70 million! At least 25 to 30 min in the current market and add ons on top.

14 Jun 2019 23:05:24
Celtic have been known for as long as I can remember as having a strict policy of doing business behind closed doors.

Clubs negotiating with us will be well aware of that, so why did Motherwell go public?

I think Turnbull agents (same ones Stuart Armstrong has and look what happened there) have advised Motherwell to go public to induce an English team to come in with a higher bid and bigger salary for Turnbull which leads to bigger commission for Agents.

As much as I think Turnbull is a good player, I would rather see club pull the plug and not deal with these Agents again no matter who player is.

philtim88

1.) 15 Jun 2019 08:21:31
To be fair agents have to do what's right for their players, however I would honestly prefer the club move on and cut ties with the deal. If the player was demanding more game time or if it was money, I couldn’t care less. As far as I’m concerned the player has earned his move, he was offered a substantial wage rise, now if he wants more game time and more money, he has to earn that, once he's in the door. If not, he's not the kind of player I want to be at Celtic park. To be honest I liked Armstrong on the pitch but all the carry on with his contract meant he was purely at our club for the money, there was a coldness there, not criticising him, just stating how I felt. I want players who are here for the honour of playing for such a prestigious club and to be part of the family. Each to their own and good luck to the boy, just not for us.

2.) 15 Jun 2019 08:20:11
I don't remember anything untoward happening with Armstrong.

3.) 15 Jun 2019 09:25:51
Am with u on that one phil.

4.) 15 Jun 2019 11:34:36
Kevbhoy his agent messed about hawking him all over England. When they couldn't find a club he'd only extend his contract for a season.

5.) 15 Jun 2019 12:43:56
That's right enough Kev. I forgot about that.

6.) 15 Jun 2019 21:28:29
Whilst I said agents have to do what's right for their clients, I don’t believe Mr Gillis is, I think he’s enjoying the heights of the job, acting like Billy big baws, something he couldn’t achieve as a player. He done better than me as a player right enough, but I’m still grounded and am proud to earned everything I have. Something that appears to be lost here! Seen a pic of Ross McCormack sleeping off a hangover the other day, maybe young Turnbell fancies that sort of career, chasing the £’s rather than the medals. As I said earlier, move on, I don’t want to see loads of youngersters getting his name on their new strips, if that’s the way he is. Would certainly avoid Prolegal in the future!

26 Feb 2019 15:52:47
Anyone else heard mourinho?

philtim88

1.) 26 Feb 2019 15:57:47
What a turn around that would be 😂.

2.) 26 Feb 2019 15:59:12
Id take him.

3.) 26 Feb 2019 16:05:45
Bring the king home 🍀.

4.) 26 Feb 2019 16:19:48
More chance of Solskjaer if he doesn't get the Man U job at the end of the season?

5.) 26 Feb 2019 22:29:56
Not Mouruniho for me horrible watching his teams how they set up and play. Marco Rose would be amazing imo.

6.) 26 Feb 2019 23:04:58
Murinho after the UEFA cup final vs Porto? We wouldn't have been happy with that appointment at his prime.

Clarke has earned a crack at it the hard way.
Rafa is the European expert and available and why not?
Lennon will endear himself with us all within 6 weeks.
What about Ranieri? I think that's who I'd like most. Sort of in the Tommy Burns mode.

7.) 27 Feb 2019 07:18:50
Ranieri! Yes! Dilly ding dilly dong!

8.) 28 Feb 2019 11:33:27
Larsson Hartson Sutton oh and Kennedy lol dream team for ten in a row.

Hope we not only hear about who is next manager, but also more pre contract signings.

For next season we need experience not projects to get us back on track. Some good players out there who's contracts are expiring. Also in Scandinavian nations, there are some quality players that would make a real difference

Only 4 players I would keep are Turnbull, McGregor, Welsh and Taylor. If we can get Kenny back next season, added bonus.

philtim88

{Ed007's Note - We still need to sign projects imo, Phil but that's what they should be, young players giving a clear plan of their journey to be a first team player in 2/3 seasons, maybe 1 season for some or maybe some will shine like Frimpong and get a chance right away. The projects should be part of the forward thinking plan not the here and now.
I'd actually say players like Turnbull, Welsh, Soro and Hazard are still projects, they still have a lot to learn and it's all about levels, Edouard could be seen as a project at a so called "bigger" club.}

1.) 08 Mar 2021 20:11:32
Ed007 I agree that project players are important for future and some do like you say shine straight away. Just feel we could do with a few experienced players to help rebuild process.

I reckon eddy will either end up at Leicester City or back in France.

{Ed007's Note - Yeah I agree about that, we will need some experience brought in definitely. Arsenal could also be a possible destination for Edouard, he turned down a move to West Ham last summer - well his agent did - but that might change depending on where they finish in the league but Leicester, who also spoke to his agent, will be involved plus any interest from the continent.
Celtic will also still be looking for a "significant fee" so you can forget the talk of £15 million being enough.}

2.) 08 Mar 2021 21:09:01
I can't see Edouard breaking into the English Premier league straight away. He will need a full season before he is a hit down there. A lot of players leave Celtic for bigger things down south and fail. Christie will fall into that category. His father thinks he is Ronaldo or Messi .

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't say he'd need a full season if he moves early enough in the window but clubs look at VVD and Tierney and think is it worth gambling £20ish million just now knowing we'll still recoup that in the Pub League if it doesn't work or wait until they've played for a Southampton and pay £50, 60 or 70 million.
If McBurnie is worth £20 million Edouard's worth at least that all day every day.}

3.) 08 Mar 2021 21:11:21
Young projects have always been the lifeblood of all the top, big clubs; but recently our youngsters have been filing through the exit door in worrying numbers. Possibly because of a lack of structured, chronological development and progress within the current set-up?
Or maybe agents filling their heads with fairy tales? I don't know.
Hopefully the next manager and DOF, will restructure the whole place.

{Ed007's Note - I think it's a bit of both, OAB.}

4.) 08 Mar 2021 21:06:13
Ed007 your right about £15m talk. Personally I reckon its just tabloid lies.

Although this season his form has dipped compared to last season, he has still scored 20 this season in all competitions plus scored a good few for France u21. Added to that past few seasons he has proved he can score against good teams in Europe, that's at least £25m.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on, Celtic wanted £30 million last summer and there were takers, clubs at Pub League level or the big clubs on the continent look at things longer term and players having a bad few months doesn't make them bad players.}

5.) 08 Mar 2021 21:32:36
It's a hard balance to have the right mixture of youth and experience. If you look back to the state the team was in when MON left. We had a massive wage bill with many well past their best. I do love to see a youthfull attacking Celtic side but the spine should have the experience we need. McGregor Forrest and I would keep brown around but in reduced capacity for the transition. I also feel Soro an Turnbull should be playing together the rest of the season to continually build their chemistry going forward. What experienced players would yous like to see philtim and ed?

6.) 08 Mar 2021 21:37:22
Ed, obviously we know the 3 main names they have mentioned for dof, but have you actually heard if we have started an interview process with anyone? The season has gone and the longer we stand still waiting the harder it will be next year . We supposedly have signed shaw from Wednesday and close to the lad from Wigan. Who is getting these players signed up, is it lawell?
Risky again as when the new coach, dof come in, they may not fancy them, which means we could be stuck with more players on our wage bill that seems to be wasted wages . Whoever the new ceo, old ceo decide on, surely it needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.

{Ed007's Note - It depends what you count as an interview, Quinny but I'd say that we must have. All I know for 100% certain is that DD has spoke to Roy Keane 💚peace be upon him💚 a few times about Celtic so is that an interview? He'll have spoken to a lot of people he trusts for advice and what's needed, I would also be confident in saying that Rodgers has spoke to DD as well.}

I honestly don't know whether I'm happy or sad Lennon has left club. Weird feeling, my blinds are at half mast till further notice.

philtim88

1.) 24 Feb 2021 13:46:41
Hahahaha half mast brilliant let's all do this.

2.) 24 Feb 2021 14:06:15
PHIL I must be getting soft in ma old age I’ve got mixed emotions myself today. I think we all know it’s time for Neil but there is a sadness in his departure. He’ll be hurting this morning. I can still see the photograph of Jock Stein with Billy McNeil when he was sacked in my mind as clear as day. I don’t know if anybody remembers it but Big Jock was staring down at the ground heart broken.

I was thinking this morning even the greatest ever Celtic manager had a sell buy date. We all do. Whoever we are and what ever we’re doing we sure won’t be doing it forever. The only thing that’s constant is change.

When the dust settles and a new day dawns in the fairytale history of Celtic Football Club Neil Lennon will be remembered for his remarkable achievements and will always be welcomed back by the Celtic family as one of our own.

Great Post JFP. See what happens when you don't eat the pie's, you come out with brilliant posts. Instead of Derdrie klopp when you do.

4.) 24 Feb 2021 19:13:21
👍 Cork Paul they twa pies and that bovril were the highlight of ma feckn season. 😂 But I’ve moved on and agree posts are more cultured as a result of having done so and put the pies behind me.

5.) 24 Feb 2021 21:33:33
😅😅😅😅😅.

22 Feb 2021 18:37:33
Is Neil Lennon trying to wind us all up about guard of honour? No way under any circumstances would that be acceptable on basis they never gave us guard of honour when we won the league.

Sooner he goes the better.

philtim88

1.) 22 Feb 2021 18:45:36
Remember. We're better than them and no need to stoop to their level. We hold our head high and take the moral high ground.

Christ knows that's all we have left this season.

2.) 22 Feb 2021 19:02:57
Right or wrong and I’m probably the latter on this one but I’m with Phil I wouldn’t give them a nod in the desert never mind a guard of honour.

3.) 22 Feb 2021 19:07:25
Greentree I will never accept it mate. Its rubbing salt into already wide open wounds.

4.) 22 Feb 2021 19:08:20
Personally I think it's been 'mathematically over' since we drew both home games after Dubai with no sign of the predicted Sevco meltdown.
However, we keep going through the motions until the BFKB sings.

5.) 22 Feb 2021 19:26:31
OAB it’s not over until it’s over but Arlene is warming his vocal chords.

6.) 22 Feb 2021 19:39:06
Lenny made comments about them not doing it and saying Celtic would have.

So, once again his after match comments come back to bite him on his arz.

Talked himself into a corner. Not doing it will make him look like a twat after making a song and dance. Hopefully he will have been sacked or resigned by then. Dream on.

I wonder if Leigh Griffiths is wishing he had kept his mouth shut last week when he slated fans.

philtim88

1.) 31 Jan 2021 12:15:31
Defending his manager to only get publicly criticized the following week by him.

2.) 31 Jan 2021 13:53:45
Not everything lennon does is wrong. He has Continually said LG has to improve his fitness, NL has supported the player throughout his struggles. Telling a player the truth shouldn't Condemned. It's time for NL to go but he isn't to blame for everything.

3.) 31 Jan 2021 14:09:42
Sos Bhoy 👍.

4.) 31 Jan 2021 15:07:24
Sos-bhoy can you remember when Deila took over from Lennon after his first spell in charge? Deila was shocked at fitness levels of players and was publicy slated with a smarmy remark from Lennon about chips. Fast forward a few years and again we are seeing the same issues with some players this season. Far too much of a coincidence and is just another red flag towards Lennons incompetence.

5.) 31 Jan 2021 16:10:02
SOS- BHOY I’m afraid Lennon is to blame for everything he is the manager he picks the team and does the tactics seldom fields the same eleven and as the manager he can’t motivate players so for me he is to blame.

Ed007 I can't remember, all I can remember was the hype that they were going to do this and that which failed.

Ed007 I have a lot of respect for Keane as well. He is a true professional with dignity, loyalty and respect. Have you ever saw his post match interview for Nottingham forest and his response when pressed about transfer to Man Utd?

I think he would be a valuable addition to coaching staff. Joe Jordan never quite made it as a manager but went on to become a highly rated first team coach who Harry Redknapp took to a couple of teams with him.

Jonbhoy71 is that maresca? I've genuinely never heard of him until recently, but Man City don't cut corners. If he is part of their set up, then he must have qualities that the club values and that respect is worth a chance.

Ed007 Roy Keane last season in charge, the teams that beat Sunderland were decent teams at the time. Imo better than Sunderland at that time. After Keane left, Sunderland went downhill that season.

I think the Sunderland board were being unrealistic with their expectations. They were expecting too much too soon in EPL. Survival should of been basis to progress.

philtim88

{Ed007's Note - My memory is a bit foggy but wasn't there an on/off takeover and that's why Ellis Short(?) stopped subsidising the club. I love Roy Keane, Phil, you have no idea lol it's verging on creepy but I don't want him as our manager/head coach- definitely not. But it would have been a different story this year if he had been but if - and that's a big IF -he is going to be involved he would be a fantastic No.2 alongside someone to keep him in check and make sure he's implementing the right processes etc
I would also put him on media duties and do every press conference.}

A person does not need to take the knee to prove they are not a racist.

Their everyday conduct being humane, respectful and dignified is worth a lot more than taking knee for a few seconds.

Reason a lot of clubs have stopped taking knee, is the controviseys BLM movement has been involved in and players such as Wilfred Zaha have publicly distanced themselves from BLM knee because of this.

OAB2 the fans definitely would of made a difference and certain players wouldn't of had attitude they had this season.

Hopefully new manager is announced soon.
