and so it begins.

crucial fixtures coming up, exciting important games.

"Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is among the favourites to be named Chelsea boss if Antonio Conte leaves the Stamford Bridge outfit. (Daily Record) "

as Eminem said, "thanks for the support, asshole".

1.) 12 Oct 2017 11:17:25
That's just the typical blasé stuff from a red top. 'Among the favourites' - no sh*t, Sherlock.

2.) 12 Oct 2017 11:32:17
I would feel insulted if he wasn't considered a favourite. He's done tremendous work for us and that is being recognised, nothing wrong with that. Will they approach him? I don't think so but the fact that people think he should be considered is simply a compliment to the work that he has done at our great club.

3.) 12 Oct 2017 12:14:03
For me its just BS story, another attempt to take away the feel good factor that everyone connected to celtic has atm. The way the english turn their nose up at our game i couldn't see him getting the job tbh, what he does up here is irrelevant to everyone connected to the mighty EPL.

4.) 12 Oct 2017 13:58:03
Brendan will always be quoted for jobs down south. He done not bad down there and has now done great up here. With the Chelsea link he already has it was bound to happen.

5.) 12 Oct 2017 15:12:38
I would reckon Rodgers will be on the list for any top job in the EPL, let them print what they want, if it offends you don’t read it.

6.) 12 Oct 2017 22:33:36
that really offended me, but I had to read it to get offended.

Damn you eyes.

7.) 13 Oct 2017 08:40:59
Who does he go with the Morra 3-1-4-2?
Gordon
Erick
Boyata
Tierney
Ntcham
Forrest
McGreggor
Bitton
Sinclair
Edward
Dembele.

I see JMcC didn't feature for everton today - not even on the bench.

1.) 27 Aug 2016 19:30:44
I thought that's been the case since pre season?

2.) 27 Aug 2016 19:44:52
That's because he is in Glasgow.

3.) 27 Aug 2016 19:57:55
Someone on another forum saw him in Mount florida and asked him if he signing his answer was hopefully. He has a hamstring injury at the moment and is going for a scan.

4.) 27 Aug 2016 20:03:03
i seen a picture of him with a fan in mount florida today. was asked if he was signing for celtic he replied i hope so.

5.) 27 Aug 2016 21:03:12
Saw pic. Tough to argue with that.

6.) 27 Aug 2016 21:31:13
Twitter again? Pretty certain he will be in Liverpool for a scan tomorrow. Haven't saw this photo but sounds made up.

7.) 27 Aug 2016 21:44:48
I say it again to those who doubted him. Skinny called it early doors.

8.) 27 Aug 2016 23:16:30
Pedro what planet are you on?

Skinny called Steggsy10 a liar a few weeks back for telling us all about McCarthy. Look at his profile and you will see the post and Skinny acting the big man.

full CL draw:
Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain
Chelsea vs Barcelona
Bayern Munich vs Besiktas
Juventus vs Tottenham Hotspur
FC Basel vs Manchester City
Porto vs Liverpool
Sevilla vs Manchester United
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Roma

Could you imagine if we were in a Group Stage with any of these 3
Besiktas
Juventus
Tottenham Hotspur
FC Basel
Porto
Liverpool
Sevilla
Manchester United
Shakhtar Donetsk
Roma

Can see us getting out of a group like that.

(not on current form, but with us at closer to our best)

1.) 11 Dec 2017 17:25:23
All I can say is thank God for The Lions and what they achieved.
I consider myself to be very, very fortunate to have watched us in three European finals ('67, '70, and 2003) and I know I will not witness my team appear in any more - probably in my lifetime, unless some monumental changes or minor miracles occur.
The use of politics and power, the obscene amounts of money and the elitist design of the CL has made it off-limits for most honest, humble teams no matter their tradition or class, to evenly compete.

{Ed007's Note - Celtic were the only team that came through the CL Qualifiers champions route to win a game in the Group Stages.}

2.) 11 Dec 2017 19:17:35
Napoli and sporting, did they not win?

{Ed007's Note - I missed out the word champions before route, sorry about that mate.}

3.) 12 Dec 2017 07:52:38
9 of them didn't win their leagues!

11 Dec 2017 16:57:41
Not that I really care,

but score predictions for

PSG v Real?

1.) 11 Dec 2017 18:23:35
PSG better team but Real will go through.

2.) 11 Dec 2017 18:36:31
Over 2 legs? 6-2 PSG.

3.) 11 Dec 2017 18:57:37
PSG to win 5-3 over the 2 legs. Im just happy that both clubs will be rageing at that draw. probably demand the CL should be re jigged again😂🤣.

4.) 11 Dec 2017 19:03:42
Got to fancy Madrid! They just know how to get through these games! Hope it’s madrid anyway so I can see that Wee fud neymars face 🤣🤣🤣.

5.) 11 Dec 2017 19:47:59
I fancy PSG in that one, Real Madrid are struggling defensively this season and I can see PSG getting one or two away goals.

6.) 11 Dec 2017 20:07:23
Aye how much gutted must PSG owners be feeling now after spending all that money to beat Celtic then get humped by Real Madrid next round haha.

7.) 11 Dec 2017 21:05:37
Psg humped Barcelona last year, and with a friendly ref, and neymar managed to overturn it. Just think psg will have learned from that.

8.) 12 Dec 2017 07:53:02
3-3 both ties. Penalties win for Madrid with Neymar missing his due to being halved in two by Ramos! 😂.

9.) 12 Dec 2017 10:36:22
I want PSG to trounce them. If they don't, then it puts our massacres in an even worse light.

I want them to rip apart much better teams than us, which is every team in the last 16.

10.) 12 Dec 2017 11:14:04
My thoughts too mp
If Christino takes the huff and doesn't fire, would love to see a 5-0 in Paris

But headlines next day won't be about how good psg are rather how bad real are.

11 Dec 2017 15:58:09
My thoughts on Zenit (or really anyone we got) .

right i've been hammering on about bettering the squad. but with a tricky trip away in feb I'm now thinking what we need is consistency rather than taking a risk on an unknown player.

Stats guys, how many times have we play this season with our recognised strongest back 5?
Gordon, Lustig, Simo, Boyata, Tierney.

Imagine they are at their best, would we want rid of any of them?

Remember Boyatas crucial goals last season, 2 or 3 in a row. Lustigs reverse pass, KT wanted by the world. "How did he do that" Gordon save.

Midfield - Forest and Brown on current form, Rogic/ Armstrong/ McGregor/ Sinclair at their best, Ntcham, Eboui fulfilling their potential.

Griff and Demebele on top of their game up front.

How many games have we played so far this season?

Get to the break, rest key players, PETITION the league (we fund) to give us the weekend off before and after the Zenit games (as Astana did) .

We can take these clowns with what we have - I know they are backed by Oligars and we are backed by Oli Murs but these guys a doable.

1.) 11 Dec 2017 18:13:33
Digi - my thoughts are as follows despite the unbeaten run continuing

Gordon - not good enough, decent keeper but we need someone far better. Our defence have no confidence in him at times

Lustig - love the guy but CB or nothing as he has been tore a new one many times this year especially when players have pace. New RB is needed, can’t see Ralston emulating KT

Simo - keep him

Boyata - Just like Efe, too big a club for him. Must be replaced as he isn’t going to learn to be a quality CB

KT - apart from a rest that’s well earned and needed he’s been great but needs better beside and behind him.

Midfield / Strikers for me are good enough. Think we need Kouassi to either show up or go, Browns replacement surely if he can show us why we paid the money for him.

2.) 11 Dec 2017 20:57:56
Lustig isn't quick enough to play CB for Celtic with the way we push our fullbacks forward.

3.) 11 Dec 2017 21:07:29
Realistically January isn’t a good time to sign players, and we probably need rid of a few too.

4.) 11 Dec 2017 23:31:58
Digibanger are you back on the wine? We couldn't beat Anderlect at Celtic park. Got humped by the others. Zenit are top drawer. Anyone is doeable as you put it but not the way BR sets his side up in Europe. wouldn't matter who we got we ain't going through. Will take the flak coming from this post but be prepsred to withdraw it once we get knocked out.

5.) 12 Dec 2017 05:14:36
A lot of mention on Boyata being a nightmare on the site lately. In my opinion he's a better defender than simunovic. At times simunovic is miles out of position, although Boyata makes errors he at least gets in the correct areas. Worryingly a goal is quite often scored (especially in Europe) and Simunovic is nowhere to be seen!

6.) 12 Dec 2017 11:17:00
As with most things these days i am in two minds so can see both sides of the arguement. I think even if we buy in jan we won't risk new players in this important tie unless theybreally really hit the ground running or we have more injuries. will simo be risked on the plastic pitch, for example.

7.) 12 Dec 2017 22:38:45
No matter who we sign or how many we sign, I would be surprised if more than one or two play against Zenit in the last 32 Europa League match .
Rodgers needs his players all used to his system.

11 Dec 2017 07:45:43
Just reading that we now need to play 4 round of qualifying for the CL from next season (whilst 4 teams from Eng, Spain, Ger and Itl will go straight in) , Champions league eh.

Absolutely vital we get in and bed in some decent defenders in January window.

We cannot wait til summer - these new players will need to be a full force by early July to be effective in these games.

I guess we should breeze the first 2/ 3 rounds with a tricky play off - but I think the window coming up will be one of the most crucial in many years.

1.) 11 Dec 2017 08:02:28
Really wish the smaller countries would get together and tell eufa where to stick there cl and they'll see how boring it will be. same teams year in year out no surprises no romance but I'll no hold ma breath.

2.) 11 Dec 2017 08:25:00
The problem I see is, the smaller countries don’t like admitting their a wee country, and also like be pals with the bigger ones (not rock the boat)
The CL especially is a cash cow, that basically bribes the wee ones to tow the line. I would rather see Celtic going to europa than get pumped every year off the big boys in th CL, the glamour games used to be good, but now we’re to far behind, and the £40m we get from it only benefits the major share holders, or the boards bonus.

3.) 11 Dec 2017 11:09:23
Good point Mally; The corrupt fat-cat, hypocrites go on about 'Fair Play', The good of the game and sportsmanship but give preferential treatment to those who need it LEAST.
The super-powers of football generate more money than the rest - 100 times over and still they grudge the genuine champions of smaller countries entry to their elite, rigged tournament as even the draws are fixed to suit the bigger nations.

4.) 11 Dec 2017 15:12:50
We won't need to when we've won the Europa league ;)

5.) 11 Dec 2017 15:48:00
oh just had an extra thought on this (2 in a row for me)

if Eng, Esp, Ger and Ita all get 4 teams straight into the groups, does that mean we won't face a team from one of these countries in qualifying. hence easier last few rounds?

6.) 11 Dec 2017 22:37:00
They'll have other teams in the qualifiers I'd imagine.

lol

after the 2 free kicks against the worlds best national side, he ain't going to hibs, slightly worrying he's being overlooked - but he's normally vocal about these things and has been strangely quiet. I think he knows the score at celtic, Rodgers hasn't called him fat and lazy in a wee while and how much would it cost to replace him.

with the craziness that is Engerlish fitba tho, its not beyond the bounds of belief that a Fulham could offer £5-10m and still have change for a few more £10m+ players. But I don't even think Tim will be betting on this one.

{Ed007's Note - How is LG getting overlooked, because he's been on the bench for 3 games? Why do these stories never surface about players like Armstrong, Bitton Rogic or the likes when they are benched?
Every time LG doesn't play a match there's loads of stories about fall outs with managers and impending transfers yet every one of them are complete bollocks. I'm surprised nobody has said that LG driving a taxi in the Christmas advert was a subliminal message that he was leaving!}

One of two things will happen.
We will wake up and decide we want to compete at a modest eu level. Not beat the giants all the time, maybe occasionally take some points. But be highly competitive against teams like last night, overpower teams like Astana, quarabag, maribor, to always get into the cl. Who knows with a kinder draw may progress out of the group occasionally to. To get there I reckon we would need to spend £50mil.
We have the manager we have the stadium, we have the fans, the infrastructure and the income from competing in the cl.
But will we?
Perhaps it's good business to squirrel away that money and just do enough to win the league, go domestically unbeaten, and try to get into the cl.
Exciting times ahead. Next two transfer windows will show our boards true ambition. I think if they don't match brs he will be lured away.

We don’t need another 2 midfield players, we need a centre back, cover at left back and a quality goalkeeper to challenge Craig Gordon. And secure Eduardo or similar up front.

so these guys, mcginn, and all the other yeah nice - but let's get what we need before what we'd like.

Its like needing milk and buying 5 loaves. when you have ten already - ok you can have loadsa toast but nae milky tea.

WelshyTravel also does parking?

My mother-in-law has her lair in Baltic Street,

that early its easy enough to get parked there or the surrounding streets and then a wee walk up to paradise.

Just when you see a house made of candy, don't be tempted to eat any or you'll end up in the pot. Coincidently what has happen to all the local neds so your car will be safe. So I guess she has her uses.

hey tim, this is just a place where we can all give our thoughts and opinions and I have been swayed and seen things from a different perspective by reading some posts, yours included (although I ain't betting another single donkey you suggest - lol) .

Truth is tho, we aren't 68 games unbeaten, we are 68 games unbeaten domestically - and 1) remarkable achievement especially considering "honest mistakes", injuries, loss of form, bad day at the office etc. and 2) given current finances we should dominate domestically.

I am now happy to see a settled back 5, midfield choices depending on opposition and how the games are going and competition for up front.

I think apart from number of games we have played so far and mental fatigue, giving key players a rest and then the proper break in January and perhaps a few key additions we will go into February with a full compliment of players (ex paddy) , rested and ready to go and we will hit the heights of last year.

People are disappointed by poor form and heavy CL defeats - I personally expected a dip and cl defeats, am fairly content about where we are and where we are going tho.

Getting to the break, I think we may not keep our unbeaten record, but that's the least of my concerns. League and a cup in the bag, still in Europe, not Servco fan = me happy.
