Hi ed, what's the score with Norwich and all the foster rumours in the paper? Is it serious or just paper journos bumpn gums?
If they are true we should ask for a million or two more than they will sell ruddy for, see if the are serious, they played hardball with Chelsea , we should do the same.
ps . Anything around the £5million mark and hopper should go now, I will help pack his bags if required. {Ed007's Note - The only team I have heard of sniffing about Forster is Chelsea who are looking for more home-grown players. Forster was not even interested in talking to them about a move as he knew he would only be a sub. Norwich seem to be linked with all our players, I think they are just using our name to appease the fans, West Ham done the same thing with Jelavic, they were putting in bids that they knew were far too low and telling fans they were trying to buy him, even though they had no chance, they simply couldn't afford the fee.}

da pulse

1.) Chelsea have signed experienced keeper Swharzer on a 1yr deal, buys a bit of time on the merrygoround that could have came about.
Doesn't iron anything out in the long term though.

Bigbadjohn

2.) Don't forget Chelsea own Courtois who they have loaned to Athletico Madrid for the past few years. When Cech's time is done he will step into the number 1 spot. Any keeper Chelsea sign will be resigned to being a back up, or indeed Cech may become a Cuddicini.

MgC

3.) Why would Chelsea want Forster ed? seems a bit far fetched to me {Ed007's Note - Chelsea were/are having trouble meeting the home-grown criteria in their 25 man EPL squad. It was decided that one of the easiest ways round it was to sign a home-grown GK. Everybody involved thought it was a terrible idea except for Chelsea.}

So Southampton have started the bidding at £10million. Will this be a one off payment or will it be half up front and the rest spread in monthly/end of season payments?

ed, any word on hoopers leaving yet, personaly I would rather he left now so balde can get settled into his role in the team {Ed007's Note - Contracts are usually paid annually over the duration of the contract (a £5 million player on a 5 yr deal would cost the buying club £1m a season), if the player is sold within those 5 years then the balance must be paid before his registration for the new club can be completed.
Currently there is nobody prepared to meet CFC's Hooper's fee just now. CFC are holding out for £5million +add ons. I have a feeling Aston Villa could become interested if they can raise the funds, they might even try and use a player as part of any deal.}

da pulse

1.) I am a bit puzzled as to why Celtic have accepted a £10M bid so soon when it seems there are other clubs interested?
I realise when NL quoted £25m, it was a bit over-stated, but we should not sell ourselves (or the player) short.
I am also sure if Wanyama does sign for a bottom 6 EPL side, he will be closely watched by bigger teams gauging his progress. So sell-on's are paramount.

Jungle Jim

2.) Jungle Jim, you should really bring yourself up to date! After Southampton brought in their new manager last season they performed as a top 8 side, and will do better than that next season. The EPL is a fluid league and teams do climb the table and t'other way round. Realise that life is different in the SPL but for a 21 year old player Southampton should be a very attractive proposition. Doesn't mean Wanyama will sign but out of all the teams in the EPL where he would be likely to play regularly initially and could be back playing in the CL within 3 years, Southampton would be the one team to chose.

Saint Martin

3.) Celtic will be wanting Wanyama move on as quickly as possible to free any monies required for further investment in the side pre-CL qualifiers. The best way to do that is to provisionally accept the bit from Southampton and force the other clubs to firm up on their offers

4.) As far as I'm concerned Wanyama to Southampton is pure speculation. If he did go to Southampton it would only be his next stepping stone to a top team and he'll probably leave Southampton in a year or two.

5.) Saint Martin - My mistake, Saints were 8th from bottom, (no matter what level they were perceived as playing) Anyway, I was not having a go at your team; my point was mainly about Celtic accepting offers prematurely. Wanyama is a very hot prospect, thanks mainly to his CL performances and we would be wise to hold fire until the CL qualifiers.
If any club wants him badly enough before he is 'cup tied' then so be it.
But we should not push him out the door an initial offer comes in. Cheers mate.

Jungle Jim

6.) I think, Jungle Jim, the guy who posted above could be correct. Saints have been watching Wanyama for some while and will have a clear idea from contacts with Celtic what his value is. Celtic are already looking to bring players in, and reported to be looking to fund them out of Wanyama's fee. Saints also have an alternative target who they are in discussion with, so I think both clubs have a need to conclude this (or move on) as quickly as possible.
I suspect a delay in the move would not be in the interest of Celtic as last minute deals to bring players in often cost a premium and may also mean the primary targets have already gone elsewhere.

Hi all
Does anybody know what the situation is of David goodwillie at blackburn?
Personaly I think he he could do us a turn up front and I can't see him costing a lot (especially with Blackburns current form and cheaper option than Rhodes)

da pulse

1.) Would not touch him with a barge pole, he made it abundantly clear where he wanted to go.
Tambhoy

2.) Had the same discussion the other day with a utd workmate.
He had that one good season before he left but the consensus is that Russell the better all round player.
Appreciate that Russell will cost more but ignoring the bad rep goodwillie has and the opportunity for our excellent
Coaching staff to improve him I'd take him on loan with view to a knock down fee. He's a young bloke but will eventually screw the nut, his experience down south might have been sobering and see Celtic as a last chance at big time before he trawls the lower English leagues.
Stevo dundee

3.) Goodwillie isn't what we're looking for. Has proven he can score at SPL level, but he's struggling to get a game for a mid-table Championship team. He'll not be able to make the step up to Champions League level either.

4.) Was that your opinion of hooper when he signed from Scunthorpe?
The whole transfer system is to buy and develop. U telling me goodwillie wldnt improve if here for a season or two?
Stevo dundee

5.) Badwillie dropped form after his rape situation, right at the time for going down south. A step back is what he needs, long term maybe depending on his current level. no idea what he's at. Russell the far better option.

6.) Dont want goody want charlie austin!

7.) Like Novo, Naismith and apparently Fletcher, he has stated he would never play for us.
No big loss; he has went backwards and has a a bad reputation off the pitch.

JJ

8.) His attitude off the park stinks with convictions and I for one would hand my season book back if this where to end up in paradise. some people need to think before the post. airdrie Tim

9.) Airdrie Tim - Stokes? no handing your ST back for his off park activity? {Ed007's Note - It could be worse, he could be like Goram or even Gazza. Stokes hasn't actually done anything wrong.}

10.) Thought about this long and hard and a came to the conclusion a widnae take a $hite on his face ha haaa

11.) Ed, I don't think Stokes has either but some people who are whiter than white like Airdrie Tim might {Ed007's Note - It wasn't Airdrie Tim that said anything about Stokes.}

12.) No he didn't but comes across as someone who wouldn't accept players being anything less than perfect in society. Goodwillie was charged with assault for protecting his mate, view the CCTV. His rape accusation was quashed. Just wondered why its ok for one player but not the other that's all

13.) Mud sticks. I personaly couldn't see my self celebrating when an alleged rapist scored. the case was dropped due to lack of evidence that does not clear his same imo. that's not how i. was raised

So so so bored with the fallout of the semi, time to move on and get talkn about players in players out.
Who realisticly in our price range would benifit the team? By the time the loanees go at the end of season will will have lost a defender and a striker (can't count the others as they have hardly played) can we afford to spend £3 or 4m on each postition?
Or will it be the bargin buys as usual

da pulse

{Ed007's Note - I'll be delighted if we can keep getting the quality of 'bargain buys' such as VVD, Johansen, GMS and Armstrong who all cost around the £2m mark over bigger money moves like Boerrigter and Pukki. It's not how much money you spend, it's how wisely you spend it.}

1.) 22 Apr 2015 14:51:13
I agree with you Ed on that one if we get a good player for next to nothing than risk 3 or 4 million on some one if you are not 100% sure he would improve the team

{Ed007's Note - I know I'm like a broken record, Tony but I'd much rather we raised the wages we paid than spend millions on transfer fees. Instead of spending £3-4 million on a player and £20k a week look at quality Bosman's and pay £30k a week, you're shopping in a whole different market then.
Would VvD stay for another year or two if we offered him £25k a week? He'd still only be turning 25/26 and I have no doubts he would improve under RD and become a better player.}

2.) 22 Apr 2015 17:31:05
Afternoon Ed, See on this point a know you gave me "pelters" in the past lol for suggesting a "striker's coach" to assist coach the strikers AS WELL as scout / run the rule over potential striker's but you have said as much yourselves in terms of the purchasing of strikers in as much that we do alright in ALL other aspects of the park EXCEPT strikers (and it looks as though you can chalk up Scepovic to that list btw!) just feel we need another approach

What about big Pierre VH he will be friendly enough with JC a would imagine he is involved a think with dutch under 21's could be great to tap into a think

If not we need a different approach/avenue because we are MINCE at picking/scouting striker's!

Following your train of thought that I like about Bosman's and said as much myself there is not a great deal available I can see that are not breaching/close to the 30 mark not or plus not an ideal age for a forward

3.) 22 Apr 2015 19:05:55
Would you agree there could be exceptions to not trying to sign players over 30 though Jamie? Don't get me wrong if we had two players of a similar quality being watched. But 5 years age difference, I'd go for the younger no doubt. But I don't think everything should be about a few years time or sell on values. Perhaps just a bit more thought into what would make a better team next season.

4.) 22 Apr 2015 19:28:44
JimTim mate a totally agree mate would not mind a couple of really decent CH's at nearing thirty or thirty knowing we would get solid 3 or 4 years out of them without having to move on mate

But a CF @ 30ish the legs starting to go a wee bit but agreed there always exceptions to the rule mate

A just think we need to try something different mate up there especially if we are going to play 1 up front which am getting used to now as long as we are at high tempo

What do you think mate you always a have player you have an eye on up your sleeve? a really don't think the team needs massive overhaul but my favourite Bosman for us was signed up elsewhere early Feb a really expected by now to have had someone in as in coming signed up as there contract was expiring if am honest

If we are not going to "globetrot" pre season a just hope we get a couple of plyers in early mate

5.) 23 Apr 2015 00:41:57
I agree with Ed re paying more in wages . I think that it is inevitable that the club is going to have to up their wage structure . I know we cannot expect to, nor should we be interested in trying to compare with the EPL . However with the massive injection of increased TV money it's inevitable that every club there will be paying higher wages than before . Players may be reluctant to come from the lower paid league in Europe to us unless we pay a lot more than before . It seems leagues from the former Soviet bloc can keep reasonably good players on low wages but I think we have to pay more to attract them .
I would prefer if we could sign players in their early twenties., firstly more likely to adopt to Ronny's way and secondly should be able to get a decent transfer fee , if they wish to move on . I think there has to be always plenty of good players in that age group and the professional scouts should be able to find them . Just because Jamie doesn't know them , doesn't mean they don't exist .

I see a report on bbc transfer page that Olivier Giroud almost joined us in 2012, don't remember that ever being banded about, ed can u shine some light on it?

da pulse

{Ed007's Note - 2012? I thought it was 2010 when he said we weren't a big enough 'trampoline' to the EPL for him.}

1.) I remember it as ed said he didn't think it would get him to the prem and went to league 1

30 Jan 2015 19:16:17
Ed a little distraction from Sunday.
I saw a report that man United were telling season ticket holders they HAVE to buy tickets for the Cambridge replay or they will be banned for the next home game!
Is this legal? I would have thought by prepaying for the season ticket you would have no obligation to buy any other tickets and by prepaying you would already have your seat "bought" for?

da pulse

{Ed007's Note - Why would it not be legal, it's been the same terms and conditions for the last few years and when you buy your ST you are accepting the terms and conditions. All of Utd's 55,000 season-ticket holders are obliged to buy tickets for FA Cup and CL games, LC matches can be opted out from as can the FA Cup for those under 16, and the payment for these tickets is automatically debited from members’ accounts as and when required. ST holders are allowed to give away tickets for the Cambridge match as long as they can vouch for the recipient, as the ST holder is responsible for the behaviour of that person when attending.}

1.) It makes sense now as Old Trafford is always full, even for the crappier games. I assume this is not the same for the whole prem as I have seen some other grounds half empty for cup games.
Just a wee note about Sunday. To all our supporters going to the game, be safe! I'm quite worried that the scummy elements of the other mob will show their true hateful side. Other than that, I'm not looking for a cricket score. I would be happier with an accomplished lesson in beating a lower league team with the good football I know we can play.
Mon The Hoops!

Just watched the Dundee derby highlights on bbc, have to say quite impressed with GMS.
Am I right in thinking he is out of contract this summer? If so I think he could be a useful addition to the right side of our attacking options.

da pulse

1.) Certainly worth a punt on a free imo. Has more about him than forrest or mcgregor and a more natural wide man than griffiths. Can play in the RAM of our current system cutting in on his left. His vision and link up play is canny clever particularly with armstrong if we get him too.

Cue lots of manager out now posts

da pulse

1.) 05 Oct 2014 15:01:18
Pulse, do you expect anything else this has gone on long enough. No fight No nothing, a complete shambles. Hail Hail

2.) Change takes time
it's new tactics, new management team, new training routines.

I will give the manager until the end of the season, they have to be given time

3.) 05 Oct 2014 15:34:50
We look no better now than we did when we played Warsaw. We are 9 weeks on from then and the side still look lost. When is RD going to produce this free glowing attacking football? Can understand this if we are playing against CL sides but this is Hamilton( with all respect )and we are at home! They last beat us in 1938! We had chances so we should have scored but we have very little going forward that is going to worry most teams. Lots of possession but we have no penetration. Now 6th in league (with a game in hand). Another couple of results like this between now and Christmas and we are going to need to put an unbeaten run together from January to win the league. I don't care what flack I take on this post, it us not working under RD and IMO it won't work. There is absolutely no sign of improvement what so ever. RD has got 6 new players in this season, that is half a team. He had got his 2 strikers, he has his quick players in Wakaso and Tonev, he has a centre back pairing, he has a decent keeper. Wait for the interview, he will say yet again that we looked tired? Surly we are fitter than Hamilton? Also look at the crowds. Less supporters turning out every week? Simply not acceptable. Enough said.

You have to laugh at the £80000 offer from Sheffield, what happened to the 1 million offer they put in lol

Could be interesting to see what the board do about this.
Do the cash in on a bosman signing or boot out the offer and tell them to up the offer considerably or forget about it?

For me I would keep the boy, media says he is settled, so give him a boost and boot it out £1.5million ain't much

God, enough with the premier journy men. Agent mentions Celtic and up goes his price. Not worth money or wage.

Nope nope nope, let's bank the money, be it 10million or more.
How often do we get the chance to sell a player for that much money, not very often. That amount could be spent on defence and midfield (2 decent players around 3or4 million each)
What happens if he has a bad season, gets injured or decides that he will just run his contract down and leave on a free?
Its the same problem with Hooper, could have had 6/7 million in january, but no we waited and now its lucky if we get over 4mill for him, now he can wait till jan, sign up to somebody else on a big contract and signing on fee and we will get nothing or peanuts if the club want him then
