That's it confirmed that ronny will leave at the end of the season. I wish him all the best. A lovely guy that fully embraced our club. I'm gutted it never worked out for him or his philosophy, I'm gutted the way he was treated by some quarters but onwards and upwards. Just time for Lawell, park, Kennedy, Collins and Desmond to go now.

Agreed mate hit with players and back room staff he didn't want. Wish him luck wherever he goes next.

2.) 20 Apr 2016 13:50:09
This is usually what bites us in the arse. We will probably find it tough if we ever draw a Deila team in Europe.

I'm hearing parks out Ed. Any truth?

1.) 04 Feb 2016 13:48:17
Getting rid of Rasputin would be a start. Then the Fuhrer can go.

2.) 04 Feb 2016 14:16:06
haha I think it was just mince on Twitter. How's your feelings on this JimTim? I know you were/ are a believer in Ronny like myself.

3.) 04 Feb 2016 14:59:09
Big believer in RD mate. I don't think any manager under our regime would be given a fair crack of the whip though. The transfer/ recruitment policy is flawed. Getting knocked out of the League Cup and losing last night isn't a call to sack our manager though. We're gradually becoming 'just an spfl side'. Losing to domeatic sides and European sides can only be expected. Look at our squad on paper. It's nowhere near CL level and not even EL level. I can only sympathise with RD, the whole team not turning up to big games, players shooting the entire team in the foot. I can look beyond that, hoping with the correct recruitment it can be solved, but when we sign players from teams below us, leagues below us, and the dregs of available players like CC and CKR, I don't know what people expect. Not turning up for big ties is a worry though.

4.) 04 Feb 2016 15:14:22
I agree with all you say there Jim, but then I look at the last couple of games even given certain circumstances and I still see the same mistakes over and over again. Even given it's another new defensive partnership we keep making the same mistakes. The goals we lose are always the same. We can't defend set pieces or balls into the box. Our set pieces are woeful. Our passing is fantastic one week and then shocking the next. I really don't know where I am right now. I so hope you are right and we kick on. I'm so conflicted it's unbelievable. I do feel for Ronny and I'm realistic about where we are but we can't keep making the same mistakes.

5.) 04 Feb 2016 15:56:51
Good points Guys. Hard to argue with any of that.

6.) 04 Feb 2016 16:31:47
first of the r-ts leaving a sniking ship.

7.) 04 Feb 2016 16:46:05
What exactly is RD responsible for it seems as if some on here don't want him to be held responsible for anything. the bad results are down to him and his coaching team he has to be removed, he is still holding on to the delusion that he can fix this team.

8.) 04 Feb 2016 16:49:17
Away you and worry about your own club and leave me to mine Knuckledragger.

9.) 04 Feb 2016 16:56:57
I'm not sure if that was aimed at me Jonace, apologies if not. I'm a touch tetchy today.

10.) 04 Feb 2016 17:23:33
Ronny is the manager! Regardless of what John Kennedy is doing with the defence it comes down to Deila! It's quite simple if he's watching Kennedy coach he can either agree with the instructions or join in and help! That's what managers do! We can't pass the ball - that's down to training, and the drills they are doing! If he is happy with the training why is he picking the same players, players who can't keep the ball for more than 30 seconds! People on here are raving away about super attacking football and high pressing, well you can't be going to the games because me and all my friends and family don't see it! We don't even nearly press high enough/ properly - you are supposed to be pretty much touching the player, and everyone is supposed to move at once/ in packs, we don't do either! We press until we are a couple of yards away which is pointless because the other team simply pass the ball or take a touch! If you want to see super attacking, fast and high pressing football you'll see it at Leicester! Ranieri has come in and did more in 3 months than Ronny has done, and it's pretty much Nigel Pearsons squad! Claudio Ranieri doesn't talk about it though, certainly not every day, he doesn't tell us all how fit they are, even although he could, and he could back it up, - he just gets on with it, and does it! I've said it before, there's a fine line between being realistic and and being a bit backward! Anyone happy with what's going on must be easily pleased!

11.) 05 Feb 2016 09:01:36
What we need at CP is an invester who is really willing to invest. Not have us as a pet project like DD . we really need clear out from top to bottom.

12.) 05 Feb 2016 13:51:45
Exactly Marco. The major shareholders have invested NOTHING for seasons now. Weve heard DD talk about Celtic being an emotional investment, now it's his money blah blah but I just don't see his emotional investment at all.

13.) 05 Feb 2016 18:46:07
We need to get rid of DD and pl and start again.

14.) 07 Feb 2016 11:13:45
There is investment. We have invested millions
On absolute crap over the last 5 years somebody
Add up wots been spent on cifti, balde, pukki,
Bangura, boerrigta, etc etc then compare it to teams
That have pumped us out of Europe and domestic cups
Then tell me it investment that's cost us? Not investment
Woeful recruitment.

15.) 07 Feb 2016 13:35:10
*the level of investment

then Vin, quality over quantity and all that.

But aye, you're right - even for what we have spent it's been spent poorly.

Just seen a rumour that Celtic will sign Steven fletcher on a pre contract as his contracts up in the summer. Anyone know if this is true? Ed?

1.) 09 Jan 2016 12:56:51
I read that on hitc I think most of their articles are full of made up nonsense!

{Ed001's Note - they do have a reputation for not basing their stories on anything other than stories plucked out of thin air.}

01 May 2014 10:18:25
Looks like Marc Janko's going to be a free in the summer. I know he rejected us before but still worth a punt especially on a free.

24 Aug 2016 11:12:02
Why is it people always want players out after a bad game or two? Was Janko poor? Yes. Is he young and can improve? Yes. We need to start giving these guys time and patience to develop, not berate them with every misplaced pass or tackle.

cmcbhoy

1.) 24 Aug 2016 11:33:37
Janko is finished at CP. You can take that to the bank.

He was preposterous.

Not bad, bit had a poor game. He was suicide in a strip. How Rogers kept him in us a real worry. After 20 mibs he needed hooked.

We cannot wait for him as he us all the player he ever will be. A bad one.

2.) 24 Aug 2016 12:08:58
Suicide in a strip! Brilliant MP! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 totally agree bud! I was absolutely stunned he was out for the 2nd half! Erik should have been on and lustig should have went to RB!

3.) 24 Aug 2016 12:28:27
I've seen bigger and better players fall short on away European trips. Very harsh on a young lad. And we wonder why we don't see players come through the ranks.

4.) 24 Aug 2016 12:38:03
I agree cmc. I think we could do with a right back, as I can't see Lustig going a season there, but certainly wouldn't go as far as Janko is finished at CP. He was suspect last night, but heat map showed he had very little infront of him from JF in what was supposed to be a 4-1-4-1 shape. Janko was also heavily involved, not just targeted by them, with that little cover, but going forward he had a lot of the ball. I think he looks much more at home as a wing back with 3 CBs on.

5.) 24 Aug 2016 12:48:32
he also fell short at St Johnstone away and Be'er sheva at home. in fact I've never seen him play well. He's a shambles.

6.) 24 Aug 2016 13:16:33
I know JimTim, still think we could go another right back as lustigs legs don't take him up and down the park as quick anymore. I'm also not saying he's been great, just give him a chance to develop before condemning him to the scrapheap.

7.) 24 Aug 2016 13:25:34
Last season they were clamoring for Janko because Lustig was having a torrid time and now it seems he is not the answer either.
Fisher was released, so he wasn't deemed good enough and we have another two chanty wrastlers in Ambrose and Boyata, who seem surplus, not to mention the mysterious 'scarlet pimpernell' Simunovic.
Add Gormless Gordon to the list and we have an entire defensive unit assembled by previous managers, who we will probably have to raffle or donate to get them the 'fudge away from Rodge'.

8.) 24 Aug 2016 16:28:08
I've got hope for Jozo yet. Fully fit he'd either be in there alongside Kolo and Sviatchenko or first choice back-up on the bench. He looked pretty cool when he was playing and settled our defence a lot.

9.) 24 Aug 2016 17:44:05
Agree with cmc, n JimTim, janko is only 22 so still young n there were many players who were awful last night or u wouldn't have known they were playing.
With Roberts in front of janko I think that's a much better fit as like nakamura he covers well n links up brilliant. Or in front of but I hope this isn't what we've come to writing off young players 4 1 bad game, bad games will always happen specially when your young n still learning the game but it's how you get better earning from your mistakes.
As to the starting lineup, not what I would have started with n even the subs at times I didn't agree with, but we got there.
Hail hail.

{Ed007's Note - Janko doesn't turn 21 until later this year.}

10.) 24 Aug 2016 19:34:01
My apologies Ed n cheers 4 clarifying that, always enjoy reading your views n very reliable knowledge on all things football. makes it even worse how our own fans r ripping him a new 1.
Still very young n how can u get better at that level n football in general if u don't get time n a bit of patience, wish we would just get behind the team win lose or draw, players n manager, just think some always look 4 a scapegoat, someone 2 blame who isn't their favourite. Most were poor in general, 4 me janko gave away a free kick (never a penalty) and the 2nd was Gordon's error not janko,
Hail hail.

11.) 24 Aug 2016 19:55:46
We need to move players on who are not good enough enough domestic scene let alone CL football. So Bailly, Janko, Ambrose, Commons, Armstrong, MacKay Stevens, MacGregor, Henderson and Ciftci. Get in another decent Striker, at least one creative Midfielder, a right back and especially a GK. We have got time to move out and people in. Poor game last night but I am one proud Celt today. Back at the level were we belong.

12.) 24 Aug 2016 22:03:06
Al make no apologies, a wanted janko off after half an hour for his own sake as well as the teams and the fans.

02 Aug 2016 13:22:55
Hi Ed, any idea what's happening with Henderson. Always impressed with him when I see him but doesn't look as if he's going to get any game time?

cmcbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Henderson will be shipped out before the window closes, whether that's on loan or permanent hasn't been decided yet.}

1.) 02 Aug 2016 13:28:14
Kind of gutted about that. There's others I'd rather see go before him. Cheers.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

2.) 02 Aug 2016 13:44:57
A lot of fans seem to be impressed with Henderson, far more than R D and B R, this is a pity as it looks that we will lose a good prospect.

3.) 02 Aug 2016 15:26:41
Bit like Allen last manager and this one just don't fancy them who's right time will tell.

4.) 02 Aug 2016 16:12:27
Seems to be. Got to trust the managers judgement. Same with Allen.

26 May 2016 20:26:21
How's deneyar doing in turkey? Think man city would be willing to sell yet eds?

cmcbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Even if they were I doubt we could afford him. Even more so if he gets his chance with Belgium at the Euros with Kompany out of action. I still maintain that it was terrible planning by the Club to have both CBs in Denayer and VVD leaving in the same window.}

1.) 26 May 2016 22:31:00
Fair point ed. they'd no doubt be looking for 20m for him. In fairness I don't know how he's done in turkey. yeah I know. Tbh I still blame that and the inconsistency in defence as the main reason for rd's failures.

{Ed007's Note - Denayer's contracted to City until 2020 so they'll be looking for some serious dough. Even having Sviatchenko from last summer would have made a difference but any team losing both CB's is going to struggle.}

2.) 26 May 2016 22:59:07
Said same thing Ed.
Sold the complete spine of a great team at the one time. never replaced with quality.
Hopefully BR will be backed by DD and let us show Europe what we can be.

{Ed007's Note - If Simunovic is fit I'd like to see him and Sviatchenko start the season as our first choice CB pairing.}

3.) 27 May 2016 08:25:04
I agree ed both have looked not bad fae watch av seen and hopefully make a good partnerships

4.) 27 May 2016 15:59:23
Just watched the Turkish Cup final where he won a winners medal, played well and set up the goal.
If Guardiola sees him as surplus again next season, there will be a queue of clubs interested.
Incidentally the game had flares, exploding fireworks and bottles being thrown onto the pitch so I wonder if anything will be done by uefa or other authorities?

26 May 2016 21:13:45
Depending on signings etc and if br goes 4-3-3, I'd like to see a team along the lines of

Gordon (needs to get back to his best)
Lustig/ new rb simunivic sviachenko tierny
Brown
Christie Armstrong
Roberts griffiths new lw/ forward

Obviously simunovic and the others need to prove themselves and brown needs to stay fit but there is a good team within the squad.

cmcbhoy

1.) 26 May 2016 22:33:13
Agreed, although I'd have either Rogic or McGregor ahead of Christie at present but I hope we see a lot more of him next season.

2.) 27 May 2016 08:31:44
Yeah lm. Christie needs to be eased in more but I have really high hopes for him.

3.) 27 May 2016 08:55:29
Gordon, for me, is a half decent reactive stopper.
He never seems to be in control of his penalty area and stands on his goal line waiting on shots too much for my liking.

17 May 2016 22:00:33
I wonder if Falcao would take a wage drop, to come to Scotland, to find his shooting boots again. :D.

cmcbhoy

1.) 17 May 2016 22:38:25
Im sure it wouldn't be a problem for him to take a £250,000 a week pay drop to come and play at Firhill on a cold wet Tuesday night in January

2.) 17 May 2016 23:15:48
I'm sure he'd love it. He'd be sure to make it through the season uninjured.

Hasn't it just been the one injury that eventually needed operating on?

cmcbhoy

{Ed007's Note - No. He injured his ankle just after the Ajax game last season. This injury was to his knee after it was discovered in January he had been playing with a broken bone there.}
