Ed or anyone in the know, have we got a global scouting network or was the lads from Japan mainly on the back of Ange knowing the market? Do they use scouting agents or actively scout abroad with their own staff?
The quality of hetate and kyogo makes me baffled that we haven't further invested in that market, ideguchi and yogi didn't work I know but maeda has defintely passed the mark, iwata is decent and will get better.
Matsuki FC Tokyo CM looks like he has a bright future, Assists and distance covered very encouraging so far.

Ed002, can you elaborate on what involvement Joe Dudgeon had in those transfers because the accepted narrative up here is pretty much that Ange pinpointed Kyogo, Maeda, Ideguchi, Hatate and Iwata himself. Kobayashi, not so much.

Fabians rieder would be signing of the season. He's been outstanding for young boys. Also the man city kid we are supposedly linked with can't remember his name has ridiculous stats for the u21 though something like 4 hatricks. Sorry minds went a blank.

Reider and or Jashari look great, even though we could buy them I doubt they would come to the SPFL with the interest from clubs in real leagues. Hopefully CL participation can sway it. Plus, they know they only need to be here two seasons before they can move on. Just wish we would get them in fast, whoever they are.

Does anyone else find themselves very rarely checking to see if celtic are linked with potential signings? I've not seen our squad so strong for ages.
Players will leave, the door will always revolve, but our recruitment has been sensational.
Josip, Reo and Matt were signed for a combined £6.33m, these 3 I believe will be sold for good money in the future, that could quite easily be £40m profit minimum from these 3 alone.
To think the mob across the water may lose their two most valuable assets they have in the past 5 years for free is mental, as much as I love the players we have, sustaining the clubs future is paramount and profit from sales is vital.
The debt ridden clubs of Europe can palm us cash till the cows come, how they can operate when some are even 1billion in debt is mental, this Financial Fair play makes no sense in realistic terms.

Seen a rumour linking Fabricio Diaz of Liverpool Montevideo to Celtic.
18 year old and Captains the Uruguay u21 National team, had been called up to the senior National team but not yet capped.
Interesting one, he looks the part on YouTube, and definitely a player we could enhance and make money on, them Uruguayans are grafters on the pitch!
Wonder why we are getting linked with South Americans lately, I thought work permits were harder to obtain, you know anything about this Ed?

A game of two half's, first half Celtic playing to their full potential miles ahead of their opponent, the second a naive lacklustre performance, silly fouls, poor closing down, typical of a Celtic side this season!
Thats 2 pts dropped as ww should never give away a 2 goal lead, never domestically with the quality of the opposition.
The pace in the centre of the pitch is a huge worry at times, technically great but slow to defend.
Suppose it leaves a title race on, ours to lose, see what this team is made of!

Our wingers need to be aggressive tomorrow, 100mph from the off! and our CM need to be classy, we are a better team than them and we need to try and dominate from the off, give the officials no room for offering an upper hand. We've ran their defence ragged before and that's a psychological factor going into tomorrow as they know exactly what Kyogo can do.
CV needs to boss his zone and lead by example, Taylor playing more the inverted wing back and I see nothing less than 3 pts.

Before anyone states the obvious with the apparent SPFL refs being all consistent in giving penalties for hand ball the one that went to VAR is never a penalty, shouldn't even be debated lads arms were down, hits his arm can't do out about it, common sense actually prevailing by a referee, we all know Iwata one was never a pen and this is actually a glimmer of hope that refs aren't as incompetent as they are made out to be!

I was always under the impression if the arm/ hand prevented the ball from going in the net then it's a pen, regardless of wether or not the arm was in a natural position or not.

If they offered £30m and he wanted to go then I don't see how we could stop that, it's as simple as that, we are far bigger than Girona however if Man City get hit with FFP hard you can see players going on loan to Girona for CL football instead of playing in the championship, which might seem attractive to MOR.
We want to take teams best players in January and others will want ours, just hope it's an inflated market as usual so we get the most money for him.
However I would like to see him finishing this season with us, player of the season so far, and get a move to an inter milan, that sort of team, good advertisement for players to come to us with that move!

Any idea how it goes so wrong for many of the academy players? At certain levels for many years now Celtic do well in many prestige tournaments they've entered, then as you all say nothing comes through to first team quality.
Do many of the lads end up playing in lower leagues in Scotland?
I had a course up in paisley couple years ago the instructors son had been released as the youth GK same age group as MJ and Ralston, he said his son quit football after leaving as he'd lost interest due to being at celtic and not wanting to drop down as the standards at lower clubs were amateur.

Tete is costing north of 20m for a club if he were tied down to a contract therefore I'm sure he would want it reflected in his wages, 4 year contract about 96k a week on a 20m transfer.
We won't pay them wages, not saying he is that greedy but his agent will be doing his upmost to get the best deal possible.
I don't think the board would give someone a significant signing on fee to cover it either.
I am surprised however about the comments being made about not having millions to spend, most of the supporters have backed the board on their decision to bring BR back by giving him a transfer kitty for progressing, and with the sake of jota that kitty should be slightly more inflated than previously anticipated!
I do respect that the model should defintely stay the same though because that is what generates cash.
If the new CDM comes in from Korea along with the winger then we are stacked for midfield and winger options, the polish Lad in the door to me still requires another RB/ CB/ GK, I would finally add another striker.
If they are all promising players who can instantly challemge for a first team place then this could be achievable spending another 12-15m.
GK Veljko Ilic - Serbia value 1.5m 36 appearances
CF Matija Frigan - Croatia value 3.5m 31 appearances 15 goals
RB Ariel Mosor - Poland value 2m - 28 appearances (can play CB also)
CB Stefan Lekovic - Serbia value 1m 21 appearances
All have played regular and have huge futures, the exact type of player to add, with the sales of others surplus to requirements it might be close to cost neutral to bring them in!

Starfelt has done well considering the pelters he gets, however there is always a fear of a mistake which doesn't sit right with me, your cbs need to be reliable, if he got a move offered to EPL we should get what we can for him and get Strahinja Erakovic of Red Star in the door ASAP before another club snap him up.

If we get Tete that would be a massive signing, the lad is worth £25m on transfermarkt, the wages would price us out surely unless he gets a hefty signing bonus to balance it out.
{Ed007's Note - The rumours are that Tete is only on circa €20k a week at Shakhtar so a wage rise shouldn't be a problem to Celtic, especially with no transfer fee.

Cost of living crisis and they pull stunts like this! If we were flying high in the league, encouraged by the investments made on players and getting value for viewing on the pitch then I'd understand, but when it's dross they can do one, it's a bloody nice shirt as well ??.
