Gerrard retired. That'll be that one put to bed.

Stephbhoy

1.) 24 Nov 2016 22:59:36
I think Gerrard and his agent had a wee look at what could be available for Gerrard as a footballer, there didn't appear to be the right opportunities and he did the right thing by announcing his retirement and stop the idle gossip .

2.) 24 Nov 2016 23:24:37
Thank goodness.

3.) 25 Nov 2016 12:45:06
Thank God for that.

4.) 26 Nov 2016 12:37:32
Clearly didny fancy coming off second best to kc 😀.

10 Aug 2016 12:43:50
Forrest signed a 3 yr deal. On official website. No surprise.

Stephbhoy

1.) 10 Aug 2016 12:55:15
Wouldn't have kept him to be honest! Done nothing to deserve the deal he knocked back! And one goal against hearts won't change my opinion! He was on my list of players to get shot of!

2.) 10 Aug 2016 13:11:32
Would be raging. He a tit who should be nowhere near a Celtic jersey.

3.) 10 Aug 2016 13:12:35
Instead of being against him and how he has played in the past which is nothing short of utter sh*te get behind the lad and give him a chance. I wanted rid of him when BR came in but obviously he sees something in him.

4.) 10 Aug 2016 13:16:40
Maybe a bit of support and encouragment from the stands will do the lad wonders. I've been impressed with him since BR arrived. Time to get behind the lad he's a Celtic player afterall.

5.) 10 Aug 2016 14:11:05
Well Stan someone should of told him that last season and season before, especially last season when he downed tools, he has had support from the faithful since he came through the ranks and has done nothing, says no to the deal on offer at the time, does a u-turn, why? No-one else wanted him, well not anyone as big as Celtic anyway. Like a poster said 1 goal against Hearts isn't going to change my mind on him, he should of been shown the door along with stokes and the rest. Let's see how long he lasts with BR's philosophy, I give him to Xmas then the Forrest we all know will appear out of nowhere.

6.) 10 Aug 2016 14:15:15
I'm with stan and Anderson he's not been good enough in the past 2-3 years but has been better under Rodgers.

7.) 10 Aug 2016 14:23:59
Horses for courses with Forrest, Just another option for BR, maybe he is getting his head down and working for BR, fingers crossed been a very fustrating player for us. But while he wears the hoops we have to back him. HH.

8.) 10 Aug 2016 15:24:45
Why he even getting a game when he refused the contract. Downed tools? Like the other 5 or 6 v Sevco.

9.) 10 Aug 2016 15:25:00
To be honest so far I think most if not al players have improved this year maybe because the system or the manager not sure but I think he has to be given a second chance and get behind him and indeed all the players we have if they still fail then fair enough chance was given.

10.) 10 Aug 2016 15:34:58
Last season I would have punted him but he has looked a different player the last few games. I would keep him this season and can sell him for something if needed instead of him leaving on a free.

11.) 10 Aug 2016 15:38:22
A few year ago I would of supported him, but he has done as much in the 5-6 years he's been with us, as Pukki, Balde and Scepovic did in the time they were with us and they did hee haw and got no support from the fans after 6months, then they were booted out the door. Forrest has had more than enough time to come good and still nothing, a few good games hasn't and won't change my mind.

{Ed007's Note - There was not one single enquiry about Forrest, whether that's down to the confusion over his contract I don't know as he would be the only player in European leagues that plays winter football history whose permanent contract expires in January. Forrest had turned down the contract we offered him because he didn't think it paid him enough, that contract was left on the table and now he's signed it, it has nothing to do with him playing well against Hearts. But now it is signed I expect he will go back to his normal shite self like he done after he signed his last deal.
Forrest been conning the Celtic support for years and it looks like he's done it again, he always has been and always will be one of THE worst players I've ever seen in a Celtic jersey over so many years.}

12.) 10 Aug 2016 16:08:44
Looking at the new deal for forest, there's 2 points of view . Use he as a back up or if he does well we could sell him if the offer is good . By the look of things BR likes a fast front team to break very very quickly.
HH.

13.) 10 Aug 2016 16:26:10
Totally agree with you Ed, too many fans wanting to now give him a 2nd chance. I'd say this will be his 5-6 chance to come good, he has had more chances than any other player would be given in a Celtic top by the fans, I'm pretty sure 100% of posters wanted him gone, now he has signed and played well against hearts all is forgiven, I don't get it. Like I said Ed I give him Xmas, BR's philosophy will be too much for him by then, and then we will see the Forrest we are all used to seeing.

{Ed007's Note - He'll be out 'injured' before Christmas. He's only managed to play 30 or more games a season once in his career, a complete fraud of a player. The jersey certainly shrank to fit James Forrest.}

14.) 10 Aug 2016 16:28:19
Glad to see rogic and Forrest sign up good signs the club are going forward.

15.) 10 Aug 2016 16:43:55
S W

Did you mean to say he downed tool rather than tools :-)

{Ed007's Note - (giggle) (mooning)

16.) 10 Aug 2016 17:46:23
Cue another injury and another 6 months out. Really disappointed by this but called it on the live chat during Astana away game.

17.) 10 Aug 2016 17:50:34
The guys made of cardboard! Like ED says he's conned the board into another contract he shlda been gone before BR came in like commons too. A don't care for players who play for us who feel like theyl play there best when it pleases them (johannson) or can be bothered. Millions of us who'd play for the jersey for Nowt! No one is bigger than our club NO-ONE!
HH.

18.) 10 Aug 2016 20:25:29
The issue isn't necessarily about whether he is good enough

Countless managers have made room for him

And so what we think ultimately doesn't happen. I do think when so many don't rate a player it's very likely that he is rotten or we can't see something ( that they do) that a manager does see.

For me it's his approach. He doesn't run at players and run again and run again and run again until he passes out with utter exhaustion

He cons is by losing the ball, staying down too long fixing his shorts ( to save himself a chase back ) and does this consistently. That makes him a fraud

When he does have space to exploit he doesn't know whether to cross aimlessly or shoot or find a pass and sometimes he does all three at the same time, for me that's a mentality thing

Now if it's confidence we can help with that I guess but he has had an awful lot of " benefits of the doubt "

That said I won't boo him

No one came in for him tells its own story

Hmmmmmm.

19.) 10 Aug 2016 20:44:34
Commons and Forrest will have major roles to play this season br rates both players hh.

19 May 2016 13:44:27
People in work saying Rodgers has signed. Say it's true.

Stephbhoy

1.) 19 May 2016 14:32:06
Footballs answer to the great rock and roll swindle?
Was hoping with DDs personal intervention Keane was an option.

2.) 19 May 2016 14:52:29
Why would we want Keane?

3.) 19 May 2016 15:45:01
Best of a bunch I would have thought . There's better out side what's been offered unless there's a rabbit in the hat that has yet to be revealed.

4.) 19 May 2016 16:09:04
Rodgers wasn't my first choice but I'm sorry, Keane is not a better manager than Rodgers, as evidenced by their achievements - which are actually directly comparable.

5.) 19 May 2016 16:59:29
Compared Keanes achievement to a few and he's down the pecking order for me.

6.) 19 May 2016 19:11:28
Kev83 with TTTS anyone who is Irish will do.

7.) 19 May 2016 21:05:12
keane ? jeez no anybody but him, he's garbage, he has done next to nothing as a manager, may be a good sidekick, but not a head coach

8.) 20 May 2016 12:26:20
With DN it's anybody that isn't Irish would do to an extent you threw all your eggs in the basket with the dietician and got omelette on your chin.

Last I heard BR was Irish?

I don't care what planet the manager comes from as long as he can do a job. It seems our choice is limited to 2 Scottish men and 2 Irishmen, out of that the odds are 50/ 50, rule out Malky it's 75/ 25. Keane my preferred pick of the 3.

Ed they're saying on talksh1t this morning the sneiderlin to Everton is a done deal. If it happens does that mean they might let mccarthy go and would they let him go cheap or on loan? Cheers

Stephbhoy

{Ed007's Note - Everton want to move McCarthy on and the player wants out of Everton byut the club are dead set against him going out on loan unless there is a definite sale at the end of it which it seems Newcastle and Aston Villa won't agree to.}

Could be amazing viewing

Such a kind big hearted young lad . A tremendous loss.

28 Dec 2016 23:46:45
Griffiths or dembele? Ad prefer Griffiths but wouldn't complain if dembele started. Am much more concerned about rogic, if he doesn't make it am not sure what ad do. Is Christie ready for ibrox baying for his blood? Is it worth playing Armstrong out of the position he's been so good in? Would sinclair or Roberts be able to fill tommys boots. A know most would say it's going to be comfortable and I'd agree if we weren't parked or at full strength but rogic is key to the way we play. He'll be a big miss if he's out.

Stephbhoy

1.) 29 Dec 2016 04:32:16
I am not to worried who plays but what formation we play. Listening to the serco game last night whilst watching us. The Saints whiched to a back three after being over ran for most of the first half then got right back into the game finishing strongly, we should do the same with Luznig, Simunovic and Sviatchenko in defence with Gamboa and Isaguirre out wide Brown and Armstrong in midfield Forrest and Sinclair behind Dembelle. I have chosen Dembelle for 3 reasons 1 watching Griffiths when he came off he was slightly limping and looked to still have hamstring trouble 2 Dembelle is stronger and would beat up on the Sevco defence which i don't think is the bravest and his hatrick in the last league game.

2.) 29 Dec 2016 10:08:05
It's the kind of dilemma most managers can only dream of and it not only keeps supporters guessing - it confounds opponents and managers alike as to how to stop them?
BR has used them both intelligently, alternately and even together depending on the situation and it has worked well.

3.) 29 Dec 2016 10:42:52
I wouldn't move Armstrong personally he's playing exactly the way we want him to at the moment.
I would give Christie a run he's got 2 good midfielders with brown and Armstrong protecting him and the zombie defence is limited at best.
Dembele is our first choice striker so I would go with him up front.

Really looking forward to the game, to many media huns spouting bile about the current gers team being on a run and how the celtic team isn't that good. I mean what's 16 points before new year 😠.
Hopefully we will shut them up for another couple months then start the process all over again.

4.) 29 Dec 2016 10:54:43
you go with dembele up top …. christie in behind and sinclair and forrest …. depending on christie performance (and mcgregor availability) …. you could then take christie out and slot in mcgregor as a direct number 10 replacement or move sinclair inside and bring on roberts (scoreline dependent) and alternate forrest and sinclair as required

the big decisions will revolve around

mcgregor or christie
griffiths or dembele

for me dembele starts (helps with set pieces for and against) and gives us height and strength where we don't have rogic…

leigh then comes on to get the win …or press home an already comfortable advantage …you don't want griffiths coming on after 70 minutes when you're that rangers defence

so for me . its the same formation 4-3-2-1-1 or 4-3-3-1

gordon with izzy and lustig …sumo and erik…brown and armstrong . id go with mcgregor and forrest, sinclair and dembele with no OUT AND OUT number 10 …i would envisage armstrong and mcgregor alternating that free license and offering options with dembele dropping off and forrest and sinclair coming inside as required ….

but i ain't no manager.

5.) 29 Dec 2016 13:08:33
Think Brendan will go with mcgregor in for rogic with dembele up top everything else the same if it ain't broke and awe that.

A don't buy into all that shite about him being a Tim, is he ****. As for being a republican, my arse! what republican would pose for pictures wae a loyalist flute band. He made a comment once about preferring celtic over that lot, who doesn't, they're only liked by like minded idiots. He made another comment about how he can see why people in Ireland would lean towards the republican side, again who wouldn't think along they lines. A know it's a banter site and most of u are only havin a laugh but some people really believe it. He might be Catholic but that means jack rubbish down there, it's only hyped up here because people up here see a person's religion before they see the person.

A was thinking along the same lines James. Ed maybe u could confirm this, a always thought we had a deal wae oldco that any damage done to either stadium would be covered by the club whose fans done the damage. That deal was wae rangers but so unless a new deal was done wae sevco then they're not obliged to pay a penny. Easiest solution is to not let them back unless they pay it.

Stephbhoy

{Ed007's Note - You're spot on but it was an unwritten agreement, Steph.}

A think some of u r doing him a bit of a disservice. He just doesn't suit the way Rodgers plays, he is slow your right but some systems will benefit his game. The bottom half of the premiership ain't all that. Some of the games are pure dross.
