Chalmers signs for Falkirk on loan, I could see us going for Buttner again?

JamieS

1.) Why do we let him go when Lennon has already said previously that we are short at left back

31 Jan 2014 17:15:23
tv news just said "A 2.5m bid for Ledley was accepted", surely not?

JamieS

Any idea what's happening with Ledley Ed? It's strange a bid was accepted so long ago yet nothing has happened, typical silent Joe I suppose! Surely he has more ambition than Palace? Ledley is a brilliant footballer but his lack of clarification over the last few months has been very annoying.

JamieS

{Ed007's Note - I've been told Ledley is down having a medical with Palace.}

Joe Ledley poised to quit celtic according to Daily Fail. That better not be true.

JamieS

1.) It could be true. he came here to play champions league and lately he hasn't been getting that. if Cardiff come calling.

2.) Maybe Judas ( no doubt advised by his agent) will dump on you like he did on us. What a shame. If it's any consolation we don't want him back.

Redbird {Ed007's Note - I think he will be aiming a bit higher than your little novelty club.}

3.) Bit ironic calling Ledley Judas. Did you not used to be Bluebird lol

Agree with Ed, he will be aiming higher than Cardiff.

4.) 11 Nov 2013 15:03:07
Ha Ha. don't know if he'd recognise you lot anymore, "redbird"? pea

5.) Cardiff equate to everything wrong with modern football. Traded their clubs colours and badge for what? A new training ground, stadium expansion and a larger transfer budget?!

I'd rather Celtic were playing at Cliftonhill, training at Barrowfield with the same budget as Albion Rovers in the Hoops (and Four Leaf Clover on our breast) than lose our identity.

Now, jog on!

Is it just me or is this the most boring transfer window ever?! We are hardly even being linked with anyone. To be honest I would love a bit of a clear out before we bring anyone else in. Far too many passengers for example, Boeriggter, Tonev, Wakaso, Twardzik and even Scepovic who doesn't look any better than Miku, Bangura, Brozek, Killen, Balde, Pukki. Thoughts?

JamieS

1.) I'd hardly call Scepovic a passenger!

2.) Scepovic needs a run of games. According to his stats at Gijon he scored 23 goals in 39 games which is better than the other strikers mentioned.

3.) I agree we need a clear out. Scepovic I like the look of though. Really thought he would get a run given our lack of form up top. Like a few of the players you mentioned, he hasn't had a fair chance.

4.) Agree with you Jim Tim

Seen we've been offered some unknown striker on the cheap. When will this stop? We should be looking at players like GMS, Ryan Jack, Armstrong and Rooney. These guys know the league and would run riot for us. Just my opinion.

JamieS

1.) Surely not, of the four I would only take armstrong, and even then he is a young boy who would still have a lot to do in making the step up. GMS is not the level of playmaker we need.

2.) Edin you're right in that we should be aiming for better. However i'd have GMS in the RAM position over Forrest anyday.

3.) JimTim I get you, I think that forrest when fit is better but 'when fit' is the issue. I think GMS is too inconsistent, and there is not a lot between him/hayes/mcginn. I don't watch a lot of there games but from what I hear he is no stand out above the likes of ciftci/armstrong/erskine this season.

I think we need a centre half and defensive centre mid. then in the summer there are a number of players that should be replaced

4.) Agree mate. Armstrong is the ONE player from the SPFL I'd want, but as you say is still no finished article.

If we end up getting a few of the names we've been linked with it could be a decent window IMO - Brooks, Kara and Armstrong would do me just fine until the summer.

Getting rid of players is harder than signing them to achieve a squad overhaul. Who would honestly come in for players not getting game time in Scotland.

5.) 05 Jan 2015 17:16:37
Even a fully fit forrest imo isn't better than gms. Forrest always cuts inside his decision making is atrocious, his final ball is even worse, but cause he has pace and occasionaly goes by a guy he's made out like a class player

6.) I think pace is the only asset Forrest has over GMS Gunnie. I'd have GMS given his low price tag.

7.) Jamie's I agree with you that in your
opinion the players you listed would run riot in the SPL
However I haven't got the confidence you have that they could run riot against a packed defence . Just my opinion .

8.) Nadir cifti stats,, 61 games, 26 goals, 19 assists. i'd take him in a minute in place of stokes, Griffiths, so too Armstrong get him in cm move johansonn wide left,, isn't gms available to sign pre contract for nothing after this window? i'd do that,,

9.) Jamie's
You are concerned about by who is to you and me an unknown striker . Surely it's better to sign someone that maybe good, than signing someone who everyone knows wouldn't be capable of playing for us against tightly packed defences .

10.) 05 Jan 2015 18:40:16
I agree jim if people rate forrest highly then that's their right we all have different opinions but apart from the pace he has I think he's average at best, the dundee derby last week gms was outstanding and the quality of his goals is the big difference between him and forrest for me

11.) I would take ciftci over rooney but have you seen stats for stokes/griffiths when they were at hibs? There is no indication that ciftci would be any better for us than they have been.

I think signing GMS armstrong and ciftci is slightly OTT, dundee united are capable of playing nice football but they are not quite that impressive.

I would take armstrong but i'd be wary of how he dealt with the pressure. i'd prefer a more experienced, defensive minded player and see how henderson does. Then sign armstrong instead of biton in the summer if he continues to impress and biton shows no improvement

12.) Gunniebhoy I get what your saying. Its not that I rate him highly, I just don't think GMS is the man to replace him

13.) Edinbhoy he is a better than them two scepovic, balde, and pukki now and that's why i'd sign him, Armstrong is the biggest talent /prospect in the spl outside of and including us, and a player as versatile as gms on a free is a no brainer, if you take the heart of the utd team that gets them playing nice football, then sign them,

14.) I would rather Pawlett to Forrest. Where did you get the assists for Ciftci DRB? He's no where in the top 20 this season so I doubt he made 15+ assists last season!?

15.) Bravetart,,, a website

16.) Ed,,, is the site I mentioned to bravetart taboo on here? don't want him thinking I was taking the piss

{Ed007's Note - It must be blocked by the filters.}

Why are people saying "let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks regarding transfers".? Peter Lawwell and Desmond DO NOT invest in the Celtic squad. We needed investment last year. didn't happen, we needed investment this year. didn't happen. We are signing players on loan from clubs who don't want them and for what? Our under 19s would win the SPFL so why waste wages on the likes of Wakaso, Tonev and Berget (who by the way is a joke of a footballer!) We have no need to invest now, our season is gone in terms of big games. We need to build for next year but even if we do sign an unknown who ends up being good, they will be sold by next years qualifiers anyway so what's the point? As long as the current board are there our club has no ambition. We as fans are now customers to a business and not supporters of a football club. Sad reality. Bringing in players to help us win the SPFL would be pointless.

Great performance today. You can clearly see the difference with 2 up front! Celtic shouldn't be going 1 up front against anybody and today we proved why. Good response Bhoys! Hail! Hail!

JamieS

1.) The diamond 4-4-2 definitely works better than Stokes as a lone striker with Forrest and Sammy on the wing!

Surely Ledley has more ambition than this? Do the rumours about Ambrose have any substance Ed?

JamieS

{Ed007's Note - If Ledley joins Crystal Palace it makes the talk of his partner being homesick a bit dubious to me, although London is closer to Cardiff than Glasgow it's still a 2 1/2 hour drive.}

1.) Ed and Jamie I think Ledley has to decide between Champ Lge Fitba and £20 grand pw or Relegation Battle (with a good chance of survival) and £40 grand pw. Hail Hail
TamTimTic

2.) According to NL he doesn't think Ledley has travelled down yet. Strange move though but some players will do anything to play in the PL.

3.) Correct TTT everyone need's to realise this is a job for these guy's, they are in it for the money simple as that, if he goe's I wish him all the best
Tambhoy

And he still scored the winner preventing 2 points dropped. Everyone was rank against Ross County. Just as well Commons didn't try to walk the ball into the net or it would've been 0-0.

I'd rather have 11 players who gave their all for the shirt every week than 11 who do what they can for themselves to get a move for better financial gain. Who is more likely to be loyal to Celtic. Ambrose or VVD.? We are all Efe Ambrose ;)

I know bud. Sitting at Tannadice hearing some of the stuff being shouted at him was an absolute disgrace though! In the shed where me and my mates were sitting. He could hear it tae because he was looking up. We are all Efe Ambrose. If we played him in front of the back 4 where it would allow him to bomb forward without leaving us short at the back I reckon he would shine. :-)

Totally agree. The fact we won't pay 200k for a proven spl player isn't great. When you consider what we have spent on diddies over the years.
