Brendan Rodgers seems to be echoing the thoughts of many of us that the financial gap between us and the PSGs and Barcelona's of this world isn't a good enough excuse for us not competing and getting closer to them. Despite all the talk about how good they are and they were excellent doesn't hide the fact that the other night was a total embarrassment that some of us seem to be accepting as inevitable due to a gap that can't be bridged.

But he seems to be suggesting a lack of ambition by the board with which I'd agree. In saying that Brendan has now criticised the fans, players and board but he could also maybe look a bit closer to home given that we've now suffered our two heaviest European defeats in our history under his leadership. ☘️.

Looks like we're FAVOURITES to sign this ODDSON Ed? ☘️.

1.) 31 Aug 2017 18:22:33
ED001/ ED007 is it true that if this goes ahead we have option to buy the lad for £10m, seems a big price for Celtic to even think about offering.

{Ed007's Note - People are speculating that the fee would be 10 million Euros but really nobody knows for sure yet if there is an option to buy or how much it will be. It would make sense though as if the fans take to him it would ease their pain - and ire - when Dembele leaves next summer.}

2.) 31 Aug 2017 18:45:45
Very clever IMO, If Duverne arrived your looking at four young French boys all happily plying there trade, with time on there side they will not be in a major hurry to leave IMO.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 19:11:54
If Duverne came in and no first teamers left that would be a sensational window!

4.) 31 Aug 2017 19:50:27
Is duverne still a possibility?

{Ed007's Note - It doesn't look like it mate.}

03 Jul 2017 19:40:53
Southampton target Armstrong? Seriously hope not. ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 03 Jul 2017 20:24:25
Theyve said vvd is not for sale and we should tell them the same we can't keep selling our best players.

2.) 03 Jul 2017 21:49:09
. and we definitely need to stop selling our players to a minion backwater club like Southampton. The only way they will see European action is on a clear day looking across the English Channel.

3.) 03 Jul 2017 22:16:14
They were in Europe last season WC.

4.) 03 Jul 2017 22:23:14
Wiltshire celt Southampton were in European action last season ya maniac! 😂😂😂 And I would hardly call them a backwater club, they've done well the past few years down there! Still confident Armstrong will sign a new deal soon, no need to panick! He's happy where he is with a manager who has taken his game to a new level!

5.) 04 Jul 2017 09:08:07
If Armstrong is as happy as some people suggest then please tell us why he hasn't signed a new contract yet? I'm pretty sure he'll have an agent to do his negotiations for him so I don't buy in to the focusing on matches just now talk. allhe has to do is turn up and sign once a deal is in place unless he fancies a crack elsewhere and he isn't going to sign an extension. I think Celtic should set a date to say sign or be sold as we can't afford players to leave for nothing.

6.) 04 Jul 2017 09:47:14
Maybe it just boils down to trust lads, Armstrong trusts the gaffer and vice versa that itll get sorted.

7.) 04 Jul 2017 11:28:53
I agree Jim If he's happy then sign, but u know it's never as simple as that mate. these things can drag on, and maybe it's the agent that's playing hard ball! The agents obviously seen the season he's just had and thought there's a better deal to be had. but your point about setting a date for him to sign is spot on. if he's no intention of signing before the transfer window shuts then we sell him and move on! He can't be allowed to get to January we're he's free to talk to other clubs and we possibly lose him for buttons!

8.) 04 Jul 2017 20:00:00
My point is that between 1984 and last year Southampton qualified for Europe once. They are as much as a backwater club as Sevco and I simply don't like the idea of selling on our players on to diddy teams.

9.) 05 Jul 2017 22:39:40
Armstrong has messed around long enough, ungrateful brat, if it hadn't been for the improvement made in him by Brendan Rodgers his agent would be talking to Championship teams or lower . Time to sign or leave the club.

21 May 2017 16:44:43
Ed-in your opinion is signing wee Paddy a possibility or a pipe dream? ☘️.

JFP1888

{Ed007's Note - It's definitely a possibility.}

1.) 21 May 2017 17:54:26
I would be absolutely delighted if we could. I heard his interview today on the radio on my way home and the interviewer asked him three times if he was staying. He answered "Who knows in football". He went on to thank the fans and sounded like he was choking a little. I took it as a farewell sort of thank you, but maybe the kid was just emotional at what he and his teammates had just achieved.

2.) 21 May 2017 21:03:04
I would like to thank the EDs for all their work on this site love it. We will b very lucky to get Paddy Roberts back he has been quality on and off the park for such a young man he sounds as if he loves it here he just loves playing football I just hope that he finds that here again next year HH.

{Ed007's Note - Thank you, Rich, you're very welcome.}

3.) 22 May 2017 09:59:54
Paddy would be our best signing from the king absolute class.

4.) 22 May 2017 18:39:54
Absolute must of a signing n be it 6_8 million he is well worth it n his value will only soar. Paddy Sinclair n Rogic/ armstrong in that attack 3 is just dynamite n the longer the chosen 3 (depends where Brendan plays Armstrong n rogics fitness but Armstrong is a first team pick be it in that 3 or as partner to Broony)
, The longer the play together they will just become deadlier n deadlier, always improving, always learning.
Brendan certainly won't be slacking or letting anyone else slack, trebles could be a regular thing the way our team is steam rollering every other team n we will just continue to improve n add more quality. Sure we may well sell a few here n there but we will bring in the same or similar type quality, certainly since pl let go of managerial duties Brendan has been allowed to bring in two top players in moussa n scotty, Gambia has been decent, kolos experience n form helped early on but i think he's been a good influence in the dressing room. Devries, not the best signing, however I'm sure that position will get another look as i feel we need better.
However fantastic first season for Brendan, he has done an outstanding job in all facets of the club n i can't wait to be celebrating that treble, as always with Celtic we win trophies and do our talking on the park.
Here we go 10 in a row.

Heard a wee whisper Grifiths is off to Fulham? Certainly hope not though. ☘️.

JFP1888

Christ their talking about signing mcgeady for 2million on zombie page can'ts are nuts.

2.) 16 May 2017 11:29:14
must be on the glue again.

3.) 17 May 2017 21:16:27

I understand why he wants to play for his country but Broonie needs to chuck playing for Scotland and concentrate on Celtic. He's done his bit for Scotland and is now at that stage of his career where he needs to prioritise and that's who pays your wages irrespective of his allegiance to WGS. ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 01 Oct 2017 22:54:47
Disagree. Since BR came in he's had a totally new lease of life and has been unrecognisable from the fatigued and worn out player we saw for lots of RD's spell. He's been breezing through games for club and country and long may it continue. His current injury is his first for ages.

2.) 01 Oct 2017 23:59:05
It won't matter after Thursday when Strachan F**ks it up by picking his championship failures and we lose to Solvenia/ Slovakia when he will retire anyway.

3.) 02 Oct 2017 12:52:16
I lost interest and respect for Scotland internationals after the way Jinky was treated in the 60's and although I appreciate our players wanting to represent their countries, I only have Celtics' interest at heart and our own priorities.

30 Sep 2017 18:29:16
Question: I can't think of any other ex-Celtic manager who came back and managed anothet team against us? I think Lennons the first? ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 30 Sep 2017 20:48:08
Davie hay with st mirren but am no sure mate.

2.) 30 Sep 2017 21:04:05
JFP would need to check but I think Davie Hay done it with St. Mirren Dunfermline and maybe Livingston as co manager / manager.

3.) 30 Sep 2017 22:38:40
Billy McNeil was director of football for hibs then took over the team when Duffy was sacked to maybe him to?

4.) 01 Oct 2017 00:46:40
Billy Stark with St Johnstone 2002.

5.) 01 Oct 2017 02:19:53
stark was only celtic assistant.

6.) 01 Oct 2017 09:24:16
Billy Stark was caretaker manager.

24 Sep 2017 20:05:35
I thought he was finished before Brendan came but happy to stand corrected. Broon deserves to be remembered among Celtics great captains and I saw Big Billy play and McStay is still ma hero! Scott Brown a true Celt. As Jock Stein said 'Celtic weren't my first love, but they'll be my last! Broony owns Ibrox watch the teams coming out. He's first on the park with his chest out clapping the Celtic end! ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 24 Sep 2017 20:34:05
Well said. He's a Celtic Legend. The way he dragged the ball back yesterday to fool Dorrans was class his close control then pass with left foot was a joy to watch. I don't think some people will fully appreciate how good our captain is until after he retires. He's a born leader he has been as good for Celtic as Celtic has been for him a match made in heaven.

2.) 24 Sep 2017 22:46:06
I've always been a fan of Scott Brown, and I actually think he is getting better and better. He loves Celtic, hates them and is a superb captain and player. Win win win!

3.) 24 Sep 2017 23:03:19
The one player I always study at the games I get to see. His positional sense and industry around the park is amazing. He has a fantastic engine coupled to the fact he has a bit of skill and a lot of dig makes him one of the best midfielders Celtic have ever had. If you add the bit of arrogance he brings I'm glad he plays for Celtic and not against us.

4.) 25 Sep 2017 01:46:43
The scottish keane watch him in the tunnel.

5.) 25 Sep 2017 20:48:20
Where's the guy who continually slated brown during Delhias reign, he used to come out with some single fish.

6.) 26 Sep 2017 10:48:22
Jfp I was the same, I was hoping BR would bring in a new midfield general to replace broony as I thought he was past his best. Just as well I'm not our manager.

23 Sep 2017 15:20:17
I'd like to start a poll please. As decent human beings and many of us Christians or God fearing people of other faiths after seeing the hordes leave the dome early today after seeing their team once again humped by the TIMS collectively on the main do we (1) feel a degree of compassion and empathy as fellow football fans and human beings (2) maybe not be quite sorry for them but understand and feel their pain or (3) pish ourselves laughing and head out for a few beers hoping hell skuds it into them for many years to come? If your is option 3 camp please hit the like button please so I know I'm not the only one who could never tire of their abject misery. ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 23 Sep 2017 20:11:26
JFP i just want to say thst i actually am a God fearing Christian and your post may offend. I believe that there is good in all of us and we should all support our fellow human beings no matter what has been done to us. On the other hand i like you havnt stopped pissing myself laughing since Pedro tried to face off Brown. I don't think Pedro knows how lucky is not to be in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary with his neck in a brace. just about to take up your suggestion of a few pints. Put me down as a number 3.

2.) 23 Sep 2017 20:15:15
There's few things better than pishing yourself laughing at those poor wee greeting waynes.

3.) 24 Sep 2017 11:13:14
As a fully paid up member of the invisible man in the sky is a man made up pile of Pish. I am therefore not forced to feel compassion through the fear of mr non existent waging a finger. I do feel compassion for my fellow humans though. I take a day off from this with them though. I want them queuing around the block of every health centre in the land to pick up their Valium.

My best pal is a big bluenose fud and I have bombarded him with 'supportive' texts to help him through this difficult time.

He isn't 'God fearing' either, but he is fearful of real things, us to name one and king May that fear continue.

A word on Andy orange Walker though. What a total prick he is. His penchant for getting his tongue stuck up the hun arse is really getting on my tits.

I feel sorry for his sons having to listen to their dad being a complete uncle Hun.

4.) 24 Sep 2017 11:22:15
So Magicpole does that make you option 3? 👍😂☘️.

5.) 24 Sep 2017 12:08:38
I still want the Valium being required. 😄.

23 Sep 2017 10:45:34
3-0 at half time 2 goals for us in the second half and 5-1 final score. ☘️.

JFP1888

1.) 23 Sep 2017 11:38:19
Willy Hill is giving 50 to one on us winning 5 1, far from out of the question.

Positive and negative on Toure front for me. (1) without him we wouldn't have qualified for CL at that time and (2) he shat in the nest twice and cost us the Man City game. On balance therefore a plus overall but time to go for me.

Bollocks I think BR might sign Hayes as it's a long season and he's a hardy boy suited to Scottish football able to take a kicking or broken jaw with no referee protection. But I think BR still has high hopes for Christie as I do myself. ☘️.

I heard TB speaking last year about his wife asking him what he was buying into at Ibrox with all the sectarian stuff. He said it stopped him and made him think. A good guy for me that gave all for club and country and he will be in my prayers tonight as will his wife and his son. Sorry to hear the news Terry and may your son rest in peace. I'm sure the Celtic family will echoe my condolences. ☘️.

Celtic were very poor. Could hardly find a team mate with a pass, had very little in the last third, Grifiths and McGreggor were particularly brutal, Sinclair was off the boil and Paddy was too deep to be effective and didn't deserve MOTM for me. Though Boyata had a good game and De Vries was outstanding. In fairness while we were pants Dundee played well and took the game to us and always think Paul McGowan is not a bad player and should have made more of his chance with us than he did. ☘️.
