So the new year review of the managerial situation will be addressed on the half year report by bankier, which was released last year on Feb 7th.

Whoever we get in, I hope he has the same effect on the team as the previous manager, as most of the squad are quite a few well below their peak fitness and especially their skill levels and confidence.
I know we have been affected by many factors - some self inflicted, but if more of the players had been fully fit, on top form, at the start of the season - who knows?

2.) 13 Feb 2021 18:38:24
The Marseille coach has said ntcham isn’t fit enough to play 90mins, that’s a few people have said that about some of our players once they leave. It’s clear to most of us the players haven’t looked fit this season, this is surely something that needs addressing, and quickly.

3.) 14 Feb 2021 02:09:58
Deila criticized the squad fitness when he took over from Lennon last time he was in charge. Seems lessons haven't been learnt.

We are a bit slow at concluding deals, so I think we will struggle to get anything more than Giakoumakis and jota in now, as they seem furthest down the line. I have a feeling they have already been done, but we won't get the official announcement until last minute so it seems to fans they have been working to the finish. How we haven't spent the money on doig, Nisbit, McCann is strange as they seem obvious signings. Maybe even big Soutter to bolster the defence. To think the money brought in and wages off the bill compared to the money spent, taking C.V. into account, I think we could have spent a bit more to back Ange.

DavieBhoy07,

What have you got to back up your claim that 'we are a bit slow at concluding deals'?

Have you also considered that maybe, just maybe, Ange doesn't think Doig, Nisbet or McCann are what he's looking for?

Lastly, Souttar is dug meat.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 16:00:33
Starfelt approach was made long before deal was concluded. We have been negotiating for right backs all window with no deal done until juranovic. Then there is Giakoumakis, which has been a couple of weeks in the making. And these deals were all explained by respected journalist who are never far wide of the mark. I suppose I have as much to back it up as you do to back up otherwise. I think this forum is starting to change, peoples opinions are picked apart and people read all the posts, but don’t post as they can see that. I support the team, I pay my money into the club, so I’ll have my opinion wether you agree or not. I think we all want the same thing which is success for the club.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 16:01:48
You might be right, maybe he doesn’t want the best talent in Scotland near the team, sorry Pedro71.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 16:30:57
DavieBhoy07,

It's all about opinions and I agree that there could 1000 different views by the lads on here but the one constant is that they all want to see the best possible Celtic team performing on the park.

If you read back my previous posts you'll see how long I've been shouting for us to sign Lewis Ferguson to replace Broony, I also like Nisbet but I'm not convinced Ange does.

In terms of the deals, the little I know is that they are extremely complex these days as there are several different individuals involved all wanting a piece.

5.) 31 Aug 2021 16:37:02
I agree with you, just feel that we have known since last year that this was a big rebuild, we should have a lot of the problems solved. And letting Christie go and Eddy go today without replacing them with quality is terrible. I think I would be happier if Giakoumakis and Jota came in and we kept they two. But I get it’s good business to get cash for them with so little left on their contracts. Regardless, we will support the players at the club come the end of the window, and hopefully anyone not wanting to be there will he gone by then.

With Shaw, Uuroghide, Abada, Kyogo, Hart, McCarthy, Starfelt, Juranovic already signed. And the potential of Scales and Giakoumakis being added to the signings shortly, are people happy with the window? I think we have done well in the short time Ange has had. I would still love another left back and left winger in, but at the pace we have negotiated some of the deals I think it's a big ask. Do you think any big signings will be dependent on Christie's situation and Edouard leaving. I did think we could have really pushed the boat out on a couple of right good loan signings. Maybe even Lovric as a bonus.

I'm not sure Giakoumakis looks like the player we need, maybe if he had consistent numbers I'd feel better about it. Nisbit is an obvious one for me, and Doig. And Lewis Ferguson with Scott Robertson or Luca Connel or Mikey Johnson going the other way on loan. Bosun Lawal promoted is a no brainier for me from what I've seen of him.

Whatever the outcome in five days time when the window shuts, I feel the way Ange can train the players we will challenge on all fronts, which is something I didn't think we could do this year. Exciting times.

I'd take shaw and uroghide out the picture for now . bit part players this season possibly loans. I'd rather have had ferguson or mcann than mcarthy i think he'll only be used for cover . but would they have went straight un? Scales i haven't a clue . player of his age who do next to nothing then have one great season usually go straight back to doing next to nothing . but onky seen you tube of him and until seeing him in the flesh don't know how he'll perform. Hart is far better than bain barkas . croatian boy like scales haven't a clue . abada looks like he will be a top player and kyogo is a class of his own . his all round game is fantastic. more to come this window? but unlike the ed I'm look forward to the winter window for a few more kyogos.

{Ed007's Note - McCarthy hasn't signed for Celtic to be used as cover, DRB - he could have signed for a Pub League team (West Ham for one) for more money than we're giving him if he was wanting to waste more of his career by not playing regularly like he did at Palace and Celtic didn't sign him an make him one of their top earners to sit on the bench as cover.
Once McCarthy is up to speed with the rest of the squad - remember he didn't have any preseason - he will be one of the first names on the team sheet in beside McGregor.}

2.) 26 Aug 2021 11:04:32
Celtic will need a big squad due to the high intensity in our play.
I’m glad we have a winter break this season to help recharge the batteries for the 2nd half of the season.
If we bring in another 2 signings to replace Eddy and Christie, it will still be a good window, it will be a bonus if they also decide to stay.
I’m sure Ange will also bring in a CB before the deadline next week.
Ange will continue to improve Celtic over time, with more transfer windows and the players will be used to his style of play and high demands.
Exciting Times Ahead Indeed Davie. 🍀👍.

3.) 26 Aug 2021 12:35:39
Another CB and LB needed. Possibly a striker depending on Eddy.

11 Aug 2021 21:55:34
Just back from the B team at Airdrie tonight, has anyone seen Bosun Lawal play before. Don't want to base it on one performance, but I will. he is an absolute machine. Played centre half, was immense, solid in the challenge, great in the air and comfortable passing it out. Not been as impressed with a player for a long time. Luca Connell, Scott Robertson also performed well.

DavieBhoy07

1.) 11 Aug 2021 22:04:38
Davie I've been watching Bosun Lawel for awhile with the Irish youth setup. Lads this guy is year's ahead of his age. At only 19 he can read the game and as Davie, JFP an United Ireland said he is a machine. Celtic have pulled off a great deal with getting Bosun Lawel. I've no doubt he will be in the first team squad next season.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 22:17:24
As i said last week after Colts beat Berwick Lawell looked like he could step up a level and surrendered nothing to nobody. Didn’t break sweat. Moffat showed potentially but as I said to Ed Rocco Vata was a standout for me for what that’s worth.

3.) 11 Aug 2021 22:17:36
Is he better than Leo Hjelde I have been impressed with him.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 22:18:10
When we signed him I was thinking he will be in the full squad come January. Good run of games with the youth setup then first team integration. He looks a massive talent.

5.) 11 Aug 2021 22:23:54
He was genuinely a class above everyone on the park, never lost a battle, to think he is there and bitton starts is unbelievable, if he continues to develop we have a player and a half.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 09:29:22
Hopefully we will see a few of these young boys starting to get there chance in the 1st team squad come January.

I've been thinking about the delay and I can think of one explanation. Maybe they are waiting for the new CEO to be in place, that way it's under his watch that a DOF and Manager come into the role, as coming in under PL would seem like the man leaving the job chose, which due to recent decision wouldn't sit well. Also, if he had come in and Rangers beat Celtic it would be a bad start for a new manager. If it was me I'd hang off starting until after the sevco game, if we win it, it's a walk on to silverware. If we lose it then the season is over when he started so doesn't effect the hope of a good start.

With an extensive rebuild ahead, what direction and style of play would you like going forward? What type of players or who would you like us to sign? Should we be looking at young up and coming players and take the chance of us not winning the league next year? Or should we be looking at seasoned players with youth or stop gap players.

DavieBhoy07

1.) 28 Jan 2021 20:57:16
Why do we have to build a team with a certain style and forfeit the chance of winning the league next season? Decent recruitment, good coaching and a plan B and we won't be far away. They might equal our invincible record but they are no where near as good a team as the invincibles.

2.) 28 Jan 2021 21:05:37
Think we are potentially losing too many key players, so it’s probably better to have a formation and style of play so that the right players are identified. It’s prob partly why we are in this position. I just said it could be at the risk of not winning immediately. I think we could be a long way off if we recruit like we have been.

3.) 28 Jan 2021 21:28:41
I agree that if our recruitment goes the same way then it might be a barren few years but I don't think many players that will leave will be too hard to replace. if we get decent money. It's definitely all about the manager and coaches. BR added 2 players of note and improved every one else no end.

4.) 28 Jan 2021 22:12:06
I'd like us to sign a target man. Not for the style of play week in week out but so we have an alternative playing on these slow plastic pitches and when the teams flow is struggling.

5.) 28 Jan 2021 23:41:17
Stop passing the ball around at the back, I remember last season and I think ajer had more touches in the game than anyother player.

6.) 29 Jan 2021 06:55:15
They can’t match our invincible’s, unless Gerrard can go back in time and beat St Mirren. The press love him so much that they probably think he could go back in time.

7.) 29 Jan 2021 12:26:45
Haha I forgot about the st mirren game. Yeah they can't match the invincibles.

Is it only two teams a player can play for in a season?, I thought it changed to three. Thought I had seen teams recall a player from a loan they weren’t getting game time at and then send them out again.

DavieBhoy07

{Ed007's Note - It changed during Covid but it's back to 2.}

I think Giakoumakis will come good and become a great buy. Just needs fitness and a run in the side.

Your talking it when you say Turnbull isn’t good enough, Mcgregor and Turnbull are about the only two true players we have.

My pal from work stayed there before a match with her husband, years back when Lennon was in charge Thompson and Lennon were talking to them in the bar that night (surprise face) and got them tickets for the game, met them the next morning at breakfast to give them to them.

DavieBhoy07

{Ed007's Note - John Lennon?}
