I've taken some time to reflect on what was a very difficult away CL match. The don't think many of us expected to get a result against a pot 1, so I won't dwell on that.

My concern is around the shadow our Chairman is casting over our club. Set aside, it's very unusual to have a CEO in place for 12 years plus, bringing him back isn't normally regarded as prudent or good governance. My own view is it's not good for our team, club or business.

His appointment of NL as our manger for the second time, should have ended any further involvement in our club.

In the interest of keeping this post short, we need better strategic direction in our club and more balanced investment in our core business, namely the football department.

Before anyone says be positive; I am being positive . Time for us to move on from low investment in our playing staff. it's fine to match the investment of us, the most important part of our business, the fans.

I thought PL’s previous role with Celtic had been fully discussed .
Celtic, Scotland and all small European Countries after his appointment as vice Chairman of Prestigious European Club Association .
To hold this he needed to have an executive role at club level . That is why he is our Chairman .
People acquainted with Scottish Football are aware of the crooks and drug criminals acting with or as agents signing up youngsters from all over Scotland. PL drove all over Scotland trying to prevent the youths from signing up, clubs and parents appreciate what he has achieved .
Downside is his house was fire bombed and his daughter and grandchild were lucky to escape .

Imagine a Sevco fan trying to give advice on how a club should be run surely that's a wind up! Effectively you're saying stuff running the club well let's run it into the ground. Jesus wept, nice try though lol.

Bhoy88 rather make pathetic and insulting comments… tell me one thing that’s wrong with my post. I’ll critique the thrust of what I said:

I’m not complaining about being beat by pot 1 team.
It’s unusual for CEO to be in place for circa 12 years
It’s even more unusual for said CEO to come back as a chairman.
Appointing Lennon for a second time was a mistake
We haven’t got the balance correct on investment on a core business, which is football.

If you can’t be constructive don’t respond. I stand by everything I said.

Disappointing to see fellow Celtic fans make snide comments. If you don’t like what I say, fair enough but don’t make stupid remarks about what team I support.

I could say a lot more but will leave it at that.

"It's all Lawwell's fault" is the first thing that's wrong with it! "The shadow our chairman is casting over our club" by that you mean the years and years of success on and off the park we've enjoyed under him?

How much have we spent this window? How much do you think we should be spending?
Where does this shadow come from? Because we lost 2-0 away from home in the CL? We are top of the league, just beat Sevco on their own park with no fans of our present and we are in the CL!
A better strategic direction than selling players for £25m plus c'mon your at it surely??.

Bhoy88,

Your a dream supporter for Celtic plc. Celtic belongs to the supporter's not the Desmond or Lawell of this world.
As a Celtic fan I've more ambition than beaten Rangers. Our board strategy is to stay just in front of them. Europe to them is about banking the money. Domestic success is brilliant.

I don't get this patter. We are selling player's for 25 million. I hate selling our best players. We have 10s of millions saved for a rainy day, 10s of millions and sell anyone that will make a profit.

Celtic plc priority is MONEY. We are not a bank or a finical institution. The clue is in the name CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB.

Bhoy88…. I am glad you are now challenging my points rather than deflection. Thank you.

I didn’t appreciate being called Sevco…… there are plenty Celtic fans less than pleased that’s PL is back and with investment in the playing squad. Also, I will give you one insight into my Celtic credentials. I have sat in the same seat at Celtic Park uninterrupted since 1990.

You are off the mark in my humble opinion, but you are entitled to your view, as I am.

I don’t think it’s “all PL fault” as you put it, just not happy or convinced we have invested best in our team. PL has made a big contribution at Celtic, all I am saying is I don’t think it’s best for anyone for him to bounce back as Chairman, given his long reign as CEO. For any PLC that’s a tad unusual. Because of this his impact on Celtic PLC is likely to be more than what an ordinary non executive Chairman would have.

I actually feel we are a very well run PLC, my plea is around getting the balance better on player investment vice money in the bank.

I don’t feel we are there yet.

Finally, I am happy to accept that everyone on here are fellow Celtic fans.

Let’s look forward to a Celtic victory today

HH

Even an unmarried single person has to budget and this is even more important for the father of a family. I can only imagine how vital it is for a football club, so like it or not Money is important. If all money raised is put jnto the team who pays the tealady, and army of people who work behind the scenes.

In all walks of life management of funds at our disposal is vital otherwise we start to spend funds we don't have and The Rangers can tell us what that leads to. Of course for things to happen on the field we need the best management etc behind the scenes otherwise as has happened a fortune is spent paying waged to people who never should have been signed.

Both sides of the discussion on this thread make valid points but we are all fans and want what's best but there needs to be harmoly and realizing that every cog is important. Would i sell our best players: without a second thought if they don't want to wear the jersey.

My memory goes back to the Lions so i can say supporting Celtic has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. let's just enjoy this time and let the guys behind the scenes work to keep the quality on the pitch up and ensure that we generate the money to do that.

So you're basing your hysteria on the fact it's unusual for a CEO to return as chairman at a PLC?

You still haven't told me how much we've spent and how much you think we should be spending?

So what's your ambition then Auf? For the club to be playing in the CL and winning League titles?
